A master post of all the ability forms drawings I've done! It's been such a fun series to work on and it makes me so happy that it's brought you all so much joy!

I regret not starting the little additional descriptions earlier and I thought of fixing that but I desperately need a nap so nope.

I did fix the one that ruffled the most feathers though - quite literally! The Skarmory saga is finally complete!

Steelix is one of my fav bois. Mega Evo delivered the stats but ets original design was far superior imo. Steelix's shapes are jus so good

I made some ability forms for Porygon Z and Feraligatr for @n0rtist’s Ability Form Challenge!

Each of the Porygon Zs has a different color palette referencing the one it has in the anime (Download), Gen 4 sprite art (Adaptability), and the Sugimori artwork (Analytic).

Reasoning for each:

Torrent Feraligatr is more aquatic in nature and has a tail fin, large back sail, and its spines are more aerodynamic.

Sheer Force Feraligatr has put more energy into its physical power in exchange for losing some of the more extensive effects of its elemental power. This has made it unable to use statuses or secondary effects but has physically powered up those moves that normally rely on them.

Download Porygon Z is still loading its textures and is thus able to modify its physical properties to better combat its opponent.

Adaptability Porygon Z is able to change its appearance to its dimensional environment. Being more in tune with its different versions has led it to being more in tune with its own innate power.

Analytic Porygon Z is more calculating and tends to move after its opponent in order to gather and analyze their data to better execute its attacks.

Ogerpon Ability forms inspired by @n0rtist

Funny enough, Ogerpon kinda already has ability forms, but I really wanted to somehow do this challenge with her anyway. :3 In doing so I've created the Ogre Sisters! (From left to right: 2nd eldest, 2nd youngest, littlest, and eldest)

I also took into account that Defiant and Moxie have slightly different translated names if in Japanese: Defiant (eng) -> Competitive Spirit (jp); Moxie (eng) -> Overconfident (jp). The JP and English abilities combined made it feel like grass and fire Ogiepons have to butt heads HEEHE.

What if abilities changed the appearance of a Pokemon?

Milotic is one of my favourite Pokémon designs - aspecially the shiny form! - so I wanted to give it a spin. Its abilities are really interesting and different from each other. Hoenn is a tropical region so I found a lot of inspiration from tropical fish.

Also, shoutout if you get the 436 water tiles reference. Players these days have it easy.

One more for now!

I been wanting to do omastar for almost a year now. Another fav boi but the one design bit I could never get over was the mouth. But mollusks are sum of my fav real life creatures. Magcargo and Cloyster are ones I'd love to do at sum point.

Giving Pokemon ability forms was such a great idea by @n0rtist that I had to give it a shot :3 Static Pichu is nice and fluffy so it can easily generate electricity by fluffing it's fur~ Lightning Rod Pichu uses its tail to attract electricity to use for itself~

I did another ability forms post! This time, another favorite of mine, Escavalier. This is a really underrated mon imo and I wanted to show it some love (same with the previous one, Shiinotic, tbh). I might've gone a little too hard on the differences but Escavalier is just so fun to build off of.

Here's some "concept art" of them:

Swarm increases Bug move power in a pinch, so I tried to make that design more "animalistic". Plus I added a swarm of Karrablasts, because that's cute. I also emphasized the "lance" part of Escavalier's arms, making the point more stinger-like.

Shell Armor protects from crits, so that'd be the "Heavy Knight" of the set. I gave it heavy thrusting swords for its arms, with some rapier-like flare, and more greyed out colors, to emphasize the steel type.

Finally, the idea for Overcoat is that since the abikity protects from weather conditions, its skin would be paler (less sun) and the armor would be rusted from the rain, hail and sandstorms. I kinda tried to mix the "Spanish Tercios Soldier" vibe with the "Western" vibe and this is what came out - with some good old Estocs for arms, and buckler-like shoulder guards, this one's a duelist.

Which is your favorite? Mine is probably Overcoat. I played around with line weight in these designs and I think that really works in its favor.

Also, I'll tag @n0rtist since it seems that's encouraged when participating in this design challenge! Hope y'all like these guys.

I've been seeing a bunch of pokemon ability forms, a trend started by @n0rtist it seems, and I decided to do my own. There were a few I wanted to try, but most of the ones I liked I couldn't find a way to articulate their abilities since they were more conceptual or intangible. So I settled on Fletchinder, partly because middle evolutions don't get enough love, but also because it was easier to draw than Talonflame XD though I was initially tempted to draw a big puffy chested Fletchling too lol
