It’s night time. Soft wind whistles through the trees lining the empty streets. Empty, except for one person. Moonlight casts shadows on a lone figure on the sidewalk. He walks slowly, taking in his surroundings.

Wow, was he ever hungry. And not just a regular hunger, either. A burning hunger that cuts through his veins and sends pins and needles through his whole body. He doesn’t need food; no, he needs blood. His fangs that he tries so desperately to conceal unsheath and cut into his lower lip, and should draw blood, had there been any in his system. He hasn’t eaten for days.

Movement catches his eye from a few blocks down. Maybe it’s someone he could drink from, just a little bit. Not enough to kill them. In his whole life, Ishimaru had only killed one person, the first person he drank from. But that was then, and now he’s much more experienced. He’ll keep them alive.

As he walks closer, he starts to make out more details. That isn’t just some drunk guy who stumbled out in the dead of night or whatever. That is a vampire hunter. He can tell by the way she walks, how she holds herself. She’s bad news. He takes a step back..

And steps right on a cat. It makes a loud meowing sound, and he knows she heard it. Just great.
