Oh my God, u/spez is an insecure little fuck who can’t handle the consequences of his actions! Who could ever have guessed that!

On one hand there are some subs that are currently stuck with shitty mods that probably should get kicked out, like the Tankie who is the head mod of GCJ, they ban anybody who criticises the CCP, and once tried to promote a crypto scam on the sub. I’m pretty sure nobody would be sad to see them kicked to the curb.

HOWEVER, people (including reddit themselves) are 100% going to abuse the ever-loving FUCK out of this. Brigading was always an issue on Reddit, moreso than on other sites. Because mods have a lot of power, and all it takes is one Mole within the mod team to give mod privileges to a bunch of their pals and you can have an entire community get taken over full on Coup d'état style.

I used Reddit as my main social media for 6 long years. I saw that happen, I saw Neo-Nazi’s and Tankies take over subs like that. But whereas before they needed a rat on the inside, with this new change they’ll be able to do the same thing by sheer brute force.

TERF’s WILL use this to destroy Trans spaces.

Tankies and Fascists WILL use this to destroy leftist spaces.

And u/Spez and the rest of the corporate slugs who run Reddit WILL 100% use this to force the mods of blacked out subreddits out so they can replace them with scabs, like they did for r/tumblr. But only this time they will have plausible deniability. It will be harder to call them out for it, because it will be hard to prove it was them and not a group of random anonymous Redditors.

This change is not one made in good faith, but we all already knew that. Reddit is about to become even more of a warzone.

Regarding Recent Event

As many of you are already aware, several mods of our team have left us recently. While we are deeply saddened by these events, we would like to reassure you that after a very short hiatus, we will continue to host giveaways. No matter what happens between us, we promise that we at Tapu will continue to be devoted to giving pokemon to the members of this community. If that was your only concern in this, feel free to stop reading here. However, we feel that is is necessary to explain to our followers why the events unfolded in the manner that they did.

---Gossip----

One of the reasons we had to talk to our mods was due to them creating an unwelcoming environment on the Tapu Chatroom. A small group of people on the chat were using voice to insult others whilst they remained in text chat. This wasn't an isolated incident and numerous people were victims to this.

What we've learnt that we need to take a harder stance on moderation. We apologise for letting it continue and we should have immediately taken action rather than ignoring the issues surrounding those in voice chat. We want to create a safe and welcoming environment on Tapu Chatroom. Bullying others even without their knowledge is not allowed and if any of our chat members know of any incidents, please tell us. If any additional ex-members of Tapu Chatroom who were driven away due to this behaviour are willing to give our chatroom another shot, please message us for an invite.

----Moderation Privileges----

It also came to our attention that mod powers were being abused to ban another giveaway blogger due to a personal incident. When questioned about this, the two separate mods who inquired, found their questions deleted. When asked about this none of the mods came forward. Later on, when more evidence surfaced that contradicted the statements of moderators, we asked for an explanation, and an unfortunate disagreement ensued. It was this behaviour which led to the departure of two of our mods.

From this we installed a bot to monitor mod powers as it was evident these were being abused. And from now onwards, any bad behaviour from a mod of Tapu will be discussed fully and result in a warning. Three warnings and a mod will be forced to leave Tapu. Starting incidents on their own giveaway blogs, insulting other mods, our participants, and others in the giveaway community will result in a warning. We hope that this will encourage the best behaviour from everyone and ensure that we keep our blogs and chatroom free of any bad behaviour.

---Previous Incidents---

Some tapu mods have, in the past, been involved in incidents relating to responding to asks in a blunt manner. One incident in particular reached many corners of the giveaway community, and lead to comments from members of our team that we now regret.

We have learned from those mistakes, and have used that experience to help us form new rules of conduct for members of this blog. We will not involve ourselves in such incidents going forward, and if a situation is entirely unavoidable, we promise to treat the people involved with respect.

---Asks----

We had spoken to our mods previously about answering anonymous asks on the blog. Upon further reflection, this also should have been dealt with correctly. This did cause some grievances with one of the mods as they were unhappy with the amount of rules imposed.

Initially, it was decided that only one or two rude anons could be answered during a giveaway.

Questions would be answered, unless they were recent repetitions then they would be deleted.

Positive messages would be compiled.

Essentially we wanted to promote a positive atmosphere:

All mods on Tapu have learnt that we should respond to genuine questions without sarcasm, assist our followers and if we are met with repeat questions rather than a nasty response, we delete the message. Any angry or troll anons we will block instantly. Our followers no longer need to worry about seeing any drama on their dash from Tapu.

Tapu was created to give back to the community, not to harm it. We would like to deeply and genuinely apologize if our words have caused harm. We would like to make it very clear that we never intended to cause harm to anyone, nor did we ever intend to split apart. While we can not change the actions of the past, it is necessary to learn from our past experiences and use those lessons to become better people. From this point forward, we will dedicate ourselves to making the giveaway community a safe and loving environment for all who are involved, and we truly hope that you will stay by our side and support us in our future endeavors.
