This build is focused on using the Gorgon's Gaze trait in order to take a stupid amount of reactions each turn, specifically with Duelist lvl2 and Jager Kunst 2 to reduce incoming damage and force sword clashes (which you'll win more often than not with your +6 agility)

Jump Jets give you high mobility, Kraul Rifle lets you hook to distant enemies and pull yourself to them, and Mimic Mesh allows you to close gaps when trying to defend a specific ally (such as our sweet boy Kuro)

Once engaged use Exemplar lvl3 to challenge your target to a duel to the death, and switch Terashima Blade into Lord's Stance so you can start deflecting bullets and knocking enemies to the ground

If the enemy tries to back away from you follow after them with your Prosthetic Spear (War Pike) with an Overwatch reaction

Remember that enemies who roll 1 or 2 trying to hit the Gorgon immediately get posture broken (stunned)

Once the enemy is stunned finish them off by switching your Terashima Blade into Troll's Stance and dealing high armor penetrating damage, following it up with a Jager Kunst Fatal Clash for a proper Shinobi Execution

Loving Aurora in general, but want to call out one specific thing I esspecially love. As a disabled reader, I'm very glad to see disabled rep in Aurora. It's rare to see disabled characters in general, rarer to see them in a low tech fantasy setting, and even rarer still to see them in a low tech fantasy setting with healing magic. There's kinda an unspoken implication in a lot of stories with healing magic that disabled folk all get "fixed" (or in the cases that have disabled characters actually get "fixed", a very clearly spoken implication), and I'm happy that this isn't the case here and that people can just exist with a disability in the world. Looking forward to reading more as the story continues.

I'm really glad!

One of the things I wanted to do in this story was make sure healing followed something like hard magic rules, because if healing magic is too omnipotent and readily accessible, along with the dubious implications you mentioned, almost all the stakes of combat go away.

Because of the way a soul resists elemental magic, that means only fresh injuries can be readily healed, and anything that isn't a simple wound (like an illness or poisoning) might not be accessible to healing magic - and since it's basically refinement and accelleration of the body's natural healing, anything a body can't naturally heal on its own becomes much dicier.

A consequence of this is that it created a large space of circumstances in which an injury, illness or condition couldn't just be handwaved away. Dainix is down an eye, and rebuilding an eye isn't in the purview of standard healing magic, so he can't just get it reversed (and the fact that it exploded in soulfire the moment he lost it probably isn't helping). Tess is heavily scarred, and the injury is years old so it can't be magic'd away. Falst's own healing factor has the potential to screw him over by closing a wound too fast for it to be sterilized first.

The nature of Tarren's disability will be discussed in future pages, but the short of it is that they suffered from chronic water corruption for several years, resulting in widespread joint problems. Elemental corruption can be prevented and managed, but regardless of the cause - magical or mundane - slow-building, long-term weakening of their body can't just be magically reversed with the established rules of healing magic.

I like it when things make sense, and I'm glad people are liking Tarren!

Living Well Is The Best Revenge

I was thinking that, had neil been a raven, jean wouldn't have joined the lineaup early, and broke my own heart.

Hear me out: Neil tried out for the Ravens at 10. If he hadn't run, he'd have started living with Riko and Kevin (11/12 at the time), but i think he wouldn't have been hidden away in the nest all the time the way jean was for his first 2 years there. He'd be more likely brought along on trips ecc so he'd be somewhat in the public eye, and at that age i doubt 1) Tetsuji would have thought of faking his age 2) even if he thought of it, it would be hard to believe, 2 years make a big difference in kids/preteens, so i doubt he'd risk it.

If the public knows Neil to be younger, once the moriyamas acquire Jean too they'd have no reason to lie about his age, as they'd still have Neil out of the team because of his (widely known) age, so 1 person existing in the nest without being officially a raven: having two would make no difference. Also why would they separate them, when the buddy system is so important? You're right, they wouldn't.

I guess they could accellerate them by like..1 year? But not 2, idek if there's age-related rules surrounding being a college athletes but still.

Does this make much of a difference? Idk. But for all the torture Jean endured, at least like this he wouldn't have to deal with the power struggle of the lineup until he's of age. He'd already be big and tall, he'd have to deal with people 4 or 5 years older instead of 7.
