Fifteen is one of the most aro-ace songs in the canon, to me at least. I've been sleeping on it.

There's just a distance between herself and Abigail's experience or being in love. She feels like an onlooker who relates to some things, but also is an alien to the life the others are leaving.

The idea "when someone tells you they love you, you're gonna believe them" is so relatable as an aromantic. Love, at 15, is assumed to be real but this indicates that the person believes but doesn't feel (but perhaps wants to because they're "supposed to".) There's just a distance between the narrator and the experience of romance that I can't quite express.

"in your life, you'll do things greater than dating the boy on the football team" is to me one of her most poignant lines, and it spoke volumes to me when I was a 15 year-old listening to this track in the back of my mom's van and crying. It's applicable to anyone, but when viewed through an aroace lens, it takes on new meaning: you don't have to be trapped in high school romantic politics forever and finding romantic love is not the foremost thing in life.

Unfortunately, sometimes we can't escape it however. And no matter what we accomplish in, say, the year 2023, the world still makes dating the manchild on the football team the greatest thing a woman can do with her life.

Overall, this feels like I am watching other people experience love and sex but not able to feel it myself.

Maybe she knew it all at 15.

I suppose I still have to report when I see Taylor wearing the colors of the asexual pride flag, and she was still Bejeweled in purple, black, and silver this weekend after the show.

She's in the bodysuit she's worn for the Midnights portion of the shows, revealed after singing Midnight Rain, a contemplative number about realizing you are on totally different tracks from someone you dream about. Very lithromantic.

Interestingly, the end of Taylor's past two tours also involved her (and often her dancers and singers) wearing the colors of the ace flag:

It's fascinating that Taylor crafted the line, "I don't dress for women. I don't dress for men." in the broader context that she complained in the 1989 TV liner notes that she is angry people talked about her love life with men and speculated about whether or not she was with women. Where does that leave you 🤷‍♀️

But, ultimately, all that matters is that she has found love. True love finally with Kansas City Ken. He may look like your friend's d bag brother who flirts with nerdy girls occasionally just to toy with them for his own amusement, but he's really the tender prince who flew to see her and stood where cameras could see him. He hasn't gotten kicked off the team for failing multiple drug tests since college!! Please. You need to calm down and see baby it's a love story. Just say yes, goddammit.

Gaylors and acelors-- I recognize that it is tempting to try and tell people your beliefs right now, I really do. but think about it... A major reason Taylor was set up with Joe was to quell gay rumors.

If you continue to shout from the rooftops that she is gay, she will probably end up in another PR relationship to try to combat that. Taylor looks so happy and free right now. Please please please don't ruin that for her.

One could argue that the aroace flag aesthetic made an appearance this weekend. Coming up after a year, gasping for air.

The toxic masculinity era continues. So I haven't streamed anything for a year. I worry this will continue to go downhill.

Whoever you are, I hope you are able to stay true to yourself, even if you live in the closet. I know not everyone has the luxury of being able to live in line with their truth, and it kills me how many ace, aro, and gay people still have to live in the closet even in the supposedly LGBTQIA+ supporting entertainment industry.

Seeing this reposted recently struck me that the look is more ace than I thought

I know the shoes are technically leopard but they kind of give white and black here.

I'm happy for her that she got to have the graduation she's probably always wished on some level she could've had. I think she expressed back in the day that she sort of wished she could go to college but she couldn't lose momentum on her career. Sad. She loves learning.

Did I once look into going to Catholic school in part so I could wear tartan skirts? Maybe. It looks like Dr. Swift has the same love of plaid, especially when it's reminiscent of the aromantic-asexual flag:

The silhouette reminds me of SN/Res Taylor. The navy sweater and preppy feel reminds me of the New England preppy aesthetic of Red era. Loved it. Had a similar thing going on and may have interned at a maritime museum in part to justify all my stripes and anchors clothing.
