Artists who make adopts

I've made adopts I really wanted to keep before but been in a bad place financially so I sold them anyway, and saw that the person who bought them never really used them after (it's part of my adoption policy that you have to draw them at least once in order to keep it) and just wanted to ask for them back, what do you usually do in a situation like this where you really like an adopt and want to keep it? I'm curious :>

There are legitimate reasons for both, and this isn't intended to demonize one or the other; this poll is just aiming to assess which is more common here.
