Advanced Variable Geo
Variable Geo certainly wasn’t a good fighting game. Like many adult games, it primarily existed to show off its naked female contestants, with the quality of the fighting action coming in at a distant second, not to mention the inherent ropiness of PC98 action games. Such games have a limited audience to their content, but the publishers must’ve felt the series had mass market appeal. Which is why later on the game underwent a reboot on various console systems as Advanced V.G., with questionable content heavily toned down or removed altogether, depending on the platform, making the V.G. series accessible to more players.

honestly, at this point, most institutions' talk about being inclusive to people with disabilities rings so hollow to me because there's so often little to no work done to back it up. it doesn't matter how pretty your words sound if you don't actually do the damn work.

what's happening in the south of thedas?
throughout veilguard the inquisitor occasionally sends us messages from the front. they paint a pretty bleak picture as to what's going on down there and honestly, by the time vg ends, i think it's safe to say southern thedas is absolutely fucked. like irreparably so.
but! several times now i've seen the argument that it's not as bad as it sounds, that everyone down south will recover and be fine, and that anyone even slightly upset abt southern thedas being destroyed in a series of easily-missable notes is just overreacting. (that's probably a little bit of an exaggeration. but not by much.)
so. maybe i read those letters wrong and missed some obvious improvement to the situation! therefore, i've gone through all the missives and done my best to put the events in them onto a map. cause i'm very bad at visualising things. and it turns out uh. yeah no i'm pretty sure it's as bad as it seems down there. maybe even worse! i've also ended up with. yknow. even more questions tbh. i hope these fucking maps are readable. !! beware long post ahead !!
the fight for the south (obtained after meeting the inquisitor for the first time)
Tumblr media
ostwick's shipping - what do they export? to where? whatever it is, the disruption's obviously enough for the inquisitor to notice and mention. (also, isn't a trevelyan inquisitor from ostwick? i suppose they don't say anything more about this?)
the antaam corsairs - are they harassing any other ships? have they cut the waking sea off from the amaranthine ocean entirely?
venatori-aligned nobles - which nobles, and where? are they spread across the country? do they have noticeable regional strongholds? more importantly, why have they allied with the venatori? what are they getting out of working with a fringe tevinter cult that was mostly dismantled ten years ago?
'far southern wilds' - is that just the korcari wilds in ferelden? or are the arbor wilds in orlais also seeing blight appear? (the blight consuming orlais later has to come from somewhere, after all)
the fall of weisshaupt (obtained after. well.)
Tumblr media
'wherever darkspawn once had a presence' - every place that's had darkspawn? all of them? cause thats. most of thedas? including several regions we visit in vg, but i don't remember hearing anything abt darkspawn appearing in the silent plains, which you'd think might come up in the graveyard of nevarra's capital city. at the very least, this might explain why the south's hit so hard despite lusacan and razikale being on the other side of the continent, i guess? anyway i marked what i think are the the three largest, worst blighted spots, and i left my blight notes on the map too for lack of a better place to put them. you can see how many places might now be getting swarmed.
^^ - if i'm right and darkspawn are appearing everywhere they've been before. well. this could have been a fun way to incorporate worldstate choices? if the inquisition allied with the wardens orlais has warning of a horde emerging in the western approach, if the wardens were banished orlais suffers heavier casualties from having to fight unexpected darkspawn on top of the venatori. something like that.
'reports of darkspawn advancing to its very gates' - advancing to weisshaupt's gates? the fortress we just lost to the darkspawn? this sounds like the inquisitor's getting reports that weisshaupt's just under siege, not overrun entirely and abandoned?
'erasing all the gains that the wardens and dwarves had made' - the darkspawn getting to weisshaupt is erasing dwarf-warden gains on the surface, in the anderfels? or do they mean progress reclaiming the deep roads has been lost? because weisshaupt's gates are on the surface, and haven't had to be retaken before now (weisshaupt has been sieged by darkspawn before during blights, but it's never fallen entirely). unless they're meaning that darkspawn numbers in the roads during the siege were so high they've overrun dwarf-warden positions? or the loss of wardens assisting the dwarves and recalled to weisshaupt was that damaging?
'called them all back to weisshaupt' - once again. worldstates. past events. what happened to that warden civil war that was brewing in inquisition? what happened to the orlesian wardens possibly breaking off from weisshaupt entirely? what about the wardens in amaranthine, possibly allied with the architect, possibly working with avernus to research the blight? all of them got orders to up and head to weisshaupt, and they all obeyed, despite the internal conflicts we've been hearing whispers of for the past few games?
the tide turns (obtained after fighting the dragons in hossberg)
Tumblr media
the felicisima armada - nice to see the armada mentioned, obviously, but it might have been even better if we got to actually learn anything new about it. instead of the half-baked beach and arena we could have had a hub in llomerryn/estwatch, experienced some of what makes rivain so distinct from the rest of thedas. we could have seen isabela acting as an admiral of the armada, maybe had some quests that lead to the armada harassing the antaam. yknow, gotten to be involved in the interesting things happening in the world, instead of hearing about them after they've already happened. (mostly i just. really don't understand where the lords of fortune came from in the first place? a rivain-based pirate faction already exists? it seems like isabela's a leader in both groups? what's going on here?)
the venatori - did the inquisition just do a really bad job ten years ago? i was under the impression the venatori as a group were finished, that they'd failed their plans, lost their god, and splintered apart. hadn't tevinter even publically denounced them? i know that doesn't mean much really, but yknow. after inquisition it sure seemed like whatever group succeeded the venatori would be starting pretty much from scratch, or having to use a new name, at least. but they're not only openly back in power in tevinter, they've got the resources to stoke conflicts across the continent? yet again. worldstates. thedosian politics. what happened in the past decade??
val royeaux to kirkwall - so the venatori are marching forces across nevarran territory into the free marches, these forces presumably including some amount of orlesian soldiers? i know kirkwall/the free marches are apparantly busy right now (getting blighted?) but as far as i can tell. nevarra doesn't really have anything going on? but they're just letting hostile orlesian forces cross their borders to attack the marches? i would have thought that would provoke some sort of response, given that nevarra (and parts of the marches) have been invaded by and fought wars against the orlesian empire several times?
the coming storm (obtained after speaking to the inquisitor again)
Tumblr media
'little trace remains of the antaam dreadnoughts' - i'm assuming the antivan resistance has picked up enough momentum for the antaam to struggle to maintain control by now, and that combined with the efforts of the armada has lead them to pull their fleet back somewhat to keep from overstretching their forces. but i do like the idea that the antaam, competent trained soldiers, were beaten and driven off by a pack of pirates.
the drums of war (obtained after discussing how to attack tearstone island)
Tumblr media
'the free marches have unified' - i know extraordinary circumstances can force things like this to happen but also. we know the free marches are divided enough that city-states will make alliances just to spite their neighbours. we know blights don't really bring people together without effort. i would love to know what sort of political manoeuvring has been going on for the entirety of the marches to unite to assist ferelden - or just the inquisitor? if the inquisition disbanded, why does the inquisitor still seem to have so much influence? also. the marches are doing this when they're in the middle of conflicts? hasn't kirkwall been entirely evacuated to starkhaven now?
blight in ferelden - putting those words onto a map makes them look way worse, doesn't it? the darkspawn now have redcliffe, much of southern ferelden, and most of denerim (if not all, by now), they'll spread the blight everywhere they go, and the blight itself has reached lake calenhad. as a reminder, this letter in da2 tells us the land around lothering is poisoned so badly by the blight it'll take decades to recover, if ever, after only a year. other places still haven't recovered after centuries. vg's blight might be changed in some way, but it doesn't seem to be any weaker, and only the blight in minrathous is destroyed at the end. assuming vg only takes a couple of months, it ends with ferelden blighted even worse than after the fifth blight.
the beginning of the end (obtained after escaping the regret prison)
Tumblr media
blight in ferelden - (continued from above) by now, ferelden's certainly lost the korcari wilds, brecilian forest, hinterlands, and a decent chunk of the bannorn to the blight, as well as possibly all of lake calenhad and its shores, depending on how blight spreads in water. that's the majority of the country's settlements, farmland, and natural resources uninhabitable, unusable, or obliterated - again, the blight poisons the land, it takes decades to centuries for anything to grow there again. on the bright side, the tiny amount of unblighted land left in the bannorn will probably be enough to support the surviving population, since the refugees were few enough to fit into skyhold. from veilguard on, ferelden is likely reduced to amaranthine, highever, west hill, the northern edge of the bannorn, whatever region runs above lake calenhad, the island of brandel's reach, and the islands home to jainen and alamar. the new ferelden capital would probably be highever or amaranthine, possibly amaranthine given the arling's run by the wardens, and they'll likely become far more influential now that ferelden's blighted nearly as badly as the anderfels. at least they got to keep the circle in jainen!
blight in orlais and the free marches - it would make sense to me if the blight here has spread out from the wastelands of the western approach and the silent plains. honestly i might have overestimated how much land's been consumed? but equally we're told the blight's moving fast so. maybe i'm underestimating. who knows. regardless, orlais has probably lost it's southern regions, as well as a large part of the heart of the country. like ferelden, it looks like a lot of what's probably farmland has been blighted, as well as several major cities. that combined with the venatori-supported civil war they've been fighting this whole time means orlais is. possibly in a worse state than even ferelden! i don't know how they'll recover honestly. maybe orlais will fracture into a dozen smaller states, maybe they'll somehow have enough military strength left to attempt to expand and claim nevarra's unblighted land. either way, they're probably not a major power anymore. also, the dales are probably blighted too, though maybe not entirely? which is unfortunate for the dalish, assuming they haven't been completely absorbed by the veil jumpers and given up on the dales for arlathan. for the free marches, again assuming the blight's spread from the silent plains, kirkwall, wildervale, starkhaven, and tantervale are most likely to have been hit, if not lost entirely. the eastern city-states are likely alright. also. a lot of nevarra's probably been blighted? most of it, even. including the capital. and grand necropolis. cumberland might be fine though.
blight in tevinter? - we aren't told anything about what the blight and darkspawn are doing in tevinter, i think? aside from minrathous being miraculously cured so it can become the center of civilisation in the future, obviously. we're bringing back the pre-andrastian empire! anyway. the silent plains would be the main threat here, and if the blight spread up to the nocen sea it could split the imperium in two, which could be fun i think. and the blight from the anderfels could affect the western border somewhat too.
orzammar - yet again, worldstates could have had an impact here, affected whether orzammar has alliances that could help it hold out or not, things like that. but honestly, considering everything else that's been going on, it seems safe to assume orzammar's been entirely wiped out. kal-sharok might be the last surviving population of underground dwarves, aside from the ambassadoria in tevinter. who might now have lost their home entirely.
blighted leviathans - *blackwall voice* i would have liked to have seen it. but yeah once more the cool things are all happening in the background. seems like we could have run into these in a felicisima armada questline, or possibly with the wardens if the ten year old griffons were adults instead of hatchlings still. i don't even know what to say here honestly. this makes recovery even harder now, i suppose. orlais and nevarra have lost sea access, ferelden and the southern marcher city-states might struggle depending on how far the leviathans spread towards the amaranthine ocean. fishing might be a little difficult now too.
conclusion
rivain and antiva seem to have come out largely unscathed by the blight, and we know from rivain that andrastianism, the qun, mages, and spirits aren't entirely incompatible, so there's a real chance for things to improve there. the eastern free marches are probably fairly stable, all things considered. tevinter and the qun might be forced into peace, however temporary, given that the antaam's been decimated and the imperium's apparently going to be doing some restructuring. ferelden and orlais have effectively suffered an apocalypse. nevarra and the western free marches are likely only doing slightly better. the anderfels are. probably largely unchanged, tbh. very cheerful! what's happening in the south? nothing good!
as i've seen some others say, i don't inherently dislike the idea of the south, the places we're most attached to, suffering some catastrophe in service of underlining how high the stakes are. my problem is the way it's executed. all these events were thrown together into a handful of codex entries that were very easy to miss entirely. there was no attempt to work with the very different worldstates people could have, despite marketing reassuring us that our past choices would be respected. it felt like an afterthought added into the game to try and cheaply increase the emotional impact of a somewhat lacklustre story. many of the things people felt were missing from veilguard - the politics and intrigue, the relations between nations and peoples, etc - aren't missing at all, it turns out. they've simply been relegated to the background. we can see where they might be happening, guess at how our protagonist could have been involved, but we aren't allowed to actually participate anymore. and i think that's unfortunate for a series that used to be so determined to think about those things, even if it didn't always handle them very well.

Advanced Variable Geo 2
The first Advanced V.G. game is a very mediocre take on Street Fighter II formula, with some Fatal Fury thrown in for good measure. Of course, it’s  understandable that it’s very hard to exceed the industry veterans in their field, especially when your prior experience was mainly adult games for Japanese PCs. TGL surely learned their lesson and focused their effort on the sequel, Advanced Variable Geo 2, released in 1998 exclusively for the Sony PlayStation. But is this one still another run of the mill fighter featuring a cast of pretty gals, or maybe there’s more than meets the eye?

Coming & Going - Pilot & CotW
(Stacked Rewatch/Timestamp Roulette Art Challenge)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's a break week in the dS stacked rewatch, but since next week's schedule has three episodes including the pilot episode (and I'll be a bit busy), I decided to handle the pilot in advance. So, a pair of bookend landscapes: the very beginning of Fraser's Chicago journey and the very end where, led by Diefenbaker, he and Ray Kowalski have already dog-sledded into their happily-ever-after Arctic sunrise. These pictures are small, about 12x16 cm.
I finally tested my second set of oil pastels (Mungyo Gallery) that I bought around New Year. They're much softer than the other set I've used so far (Van Gogh), and to my surprise they work well on a type of mix media paper where the VGs were disastrous. Also, my first impression is that they photograph better than the VGs. I'm pretty fond of the drier feel of the VGs, though.

Stolen Imperial Files - Valérie Glie
Tumblr media
SUBJECT FILE: #7746-VG-RYL STATUS: AT LARGE THREAT LEVEL: HIGH DESIGNATION: GLIE, VALERIE (“Val”)
Tumblr media
AGE: 26 SPECIES: TWI’LEK EYES: SILVER HEIGHT: 5'6" ALIAS: DESERT SARAD  HOMEWORLD: RYLOTH TRAITS: DISPLAYS A CHARISMATIC AND ENGAGING PRESENCE—OFTEN FEISTY AND FLIRTATIOUS, THOUGH MARKED AT TIMES BY A SURPRISING EMOTIONAL RESERVE. TENDS TO MASK VULNERABILITY WITH SHARP WIT AND HUMOR, USING LEVITY AS A DEFENSE MECHANISM. WELL-LIKED AMONG PEERS, WITH A NATURAL ABILITY TO COMMAND ATTENTION AND NAVIGATE COMPLEX SOCIAL DYNAMICS. AFFILIATIONS: CHAM SYNDULA’S FREEDOM FIGHTERS
BIOGRAPHY: Valerie Glie is a known insurgent, former member of the Free Ryloth Movement, and biological sister to Gobi Glie (see file #7745-GG-RYL). Glie is classified as a Tier-1 fugitive by the Imperial Senate following her implication in an attempted assassination of Senator Orn Free Taa (see incident report #OFT-RYL-03-19).  While conclusive evidence remains classified, Glie’s specialization in long-range weaponry and guerrilla tactics strongly suggests her involvement. Subject evaded initial detainment following the incident, reportedly with assistance from rogue Clone CT-7569 (designated deserter; current status: MIA). Glie disappeared from all known Imperial tracking channels shortly thereafter. A confidential report filed by Admiral Rampart (see ISB Inquiry #RMP-7569-GL) suggests CT-7569 and Glie may have shared an unprofessional and possibly romantic relationship during the Ryloth occupation. The nature of this connection, if verified, may explain the clone's deviation from standard programming and continued loyalty to Glie. Further inquiry suppressed under Imperial Directive 104-C due to potential embarrassment to command. Later, Glie was confirmed captured and processed through Zygerian slave intake channels, a rare point of recovery. During a scheduled transfer, the facility experienced a breach carried out by unidentified clone deserters (see ZYG-ESC-17-CLN). Subject escaped during the chaos. Subsequent raids on Imperial communications have traced encrypted data fragments believed to be linked to Glie, suggesting reactivation and resumption of insurgent activity. PROFILE NOTES Combat Role: Designated marksman / sniper; advanced training in stealth, infiltration, and asymmetrical warfare. Temperament: Uncooperative, highly disciplined, ideologically radicalized. Psychological Evaluation: Subject displays advanced emotional compartmentalization; demonstrates capacity for prolonged isolation, likely contributing to operational longevity. Linguistics: Fluent in Ryl, Galactic Basic, Zygerian dialects, and multiple black-market ciphers.

are there any crpgs that u would recommend? i'm still mourning what veilguard could have been and want something else to play :')
i feel like all my recommendations are entry level because these games are SO long it's taking me forever to work through even the most popular ones. but my main recs for someone disappointed with vg are:
rogue trader - i think this was maybe the first rpg i finished after playing vg? it was so refreshing to play a game that doesn't treat you like a child, it lets you roleplay the nastiest most evil character ever while beating you with the consequences of your actions the entire time. the main story is just Fine and falls apart towards the end but the companions and the general atmosphere make up for it sooo much.
disco elysium - recommending disco elysium on tumblr feels redundant but if you HAVEN'T played it and want a crpg that deals with politics and lets you roleplay a variety of viewpoints. well. it's disco elysium.
planescape torment - i'm actually working my way through this one for the first time right now (very slowly) and it's good! super heavy on writing with nice prose without being overwrought (which is an issue i have with a lot of crpgs that try too hard to be wordy). it's pretty dated and actually giving me more trouble than i usually have with this era of crpg, but there are plenty of guides out there for the puzzles.
bg1/bg2 - if you want more bioware then the original baldurs gates are soo worth a shot. i still haven't finished bg3 but i've played these through multiple times. there's a bit of a learning curve that can be frustrating (you start VERY weak. a mage will have 5 hit points and a tutorial rat will kill you) but once you get past it the games are just so fun - there are so many guides and tutorials out there, and in theory if you can enjoy origins this shouldn't be a massive leap. the writing is pretty silly but i really enjoy the story, the first game attempts a very rudimentary morality system that ties to the main quest and it's pretty cool to see it in action. the second game is also way more advanced than the first and imo its companion quests are better than dai's.
fallout 1/2 - the original fallout games are kind of known for having really good roleplay, interesting political commentary/satire and branching choices. i personally really don't vibe with them (not a massive fallout enjoyer ngl. new vegas is fun but overall i'm just not into the setting) but i feel like they're not talked about on here as much as some other crpgs so i thought id mention them.

i had a small accident yesterday so i've stayed in bed all day recovering, and just woke up in the late afternoon when the moonlight hit me thru the window.
It really reminded me of when during covid lockdown i'd go outside at midnight to workout when there was no one else on the streets, all while listening to this tune. Wish i could go out and have fun lol

Josef Albers photograph of Anni Albers in Europe, 1930–33.
Trained at the Bauhaus in Germany, Albers was appointed acting director of the weaving workshop following her graduation and went on to become one of the leading textile artists of the twentieth century during her nearly seventy–five–year career. In 1933 the Bauhaus closed under pressure from the Nazis, and Albers fled to the United States with her husband, the artist Josef Albers, to join the faculty at Black Mountain College in North Carolina. At the college, Albers carried on aspects of the Bauhaus’s interdisciplinary approach, attracting guest artists, including Cage, to teach.
Albers created Tapestry at Black Mountain. It comprises a handwoven checkerboard pattern that subtly transitions from dark to light, reflecting a strong figure–ground relationship inspired by both ancient art of the Americas and modernist abstraction. Throughout her life, Albers introduced unconventional materials—raffia, corn, grass, and even cellophane— into her compositions, helping to advance weaving as an artistic form.

OC Wardrobe
Okay, so I have done my best to give a couple of examples of Zita's wardrobe in the images above. It's my best approximation along with the massive text post. It's not great but I'm just tired of looking at it honestly? And if I keep doing it, I'll find more reasons to hate it rip. I've made little notes about pre & post banishment. Thanks @basedonconjecture (Allie) for tagging me. Buckle up for the word vomit.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The most important note is this: post-banishment from the Crows, Zita no longer wears leathers. She doesn’t care that her leathers are likely (read: they are) better than the armor she acquires after abandoning them, she won’t wear them. Your girl is Big Mad™ at Viago for banishing her. She felt betrayed, abandoned, and honestly just thrown under the bus for doing what she thought was right. And sure, while she has since learned that her actions have (supposedly) upset bigger plans that the Talons had, she did not know of that at the time, and she stands by the fact that she made the best decision that she could with the information she had. This…difference of opinion has left wounds on her relationship with Viago but also with her views on the Crows as a whole. These wounds have scabbed over but not healed, even post the events of the VG. She doesn’t believe Vi's explanation of how he did it for her safety and/or planned on reinstating her as soon as she returned from her mission with Varric. It stinks to her. It's too convenient and allows him too much credit for her “heroics" in the following Dread Wolf saga and even though her showing up for Treviso him showing up in the Wetlands with those ballistae helped, they aren’t healed. She's hurt and he doesn’t communicate, what can I say?
ANYWAY, all of this to say, she doesn’t wear leathers, tbh won’t mention she’s a Crow at all (she isn’t one currently) unless pressed or someone else mentions it. She abandons her name entirely, and if it were up to her, no one would have known it at all. Zita is dead and Rook is in her place. Of course, this can’t happen, because she had to return to Treviso and liberate Lucanis from the Ossuary. Neither he, nor Teia and Viago, will allow Zita to be dead and eventually she and the mask that Rook has become reconcile, but it takes for fucking ever and is absolutely chalk full of twists and turns.
While she won’t concede it, she was one of Vi's pet Crows, slated to (perhaps) succeed him should he advance from his post as head of house. And as such, there were certain expectations on her wardrobe. Crows are, generally speaking, interested in fashion at least in passing, and she felt all the pressures of being a known favorite of Viago’s. It might have been nice for him to provide a stipend for her clothes, alas, he did not. Still, she did her best to not embarrass him, at least in this area.
Formal wear: Zita has never felt especially beautiful or feminine, finding herself to be too stocky, short, and having a distinctive lack of curves to be traditionally appealing—this is a lie she tells herself. She finds the trappings of formal occasions to be confusing and just generally boring—unless they devolve into infighting or she finds some particularly juicy gossip—despite this however, she rarely is possessed of a good enough excuse for Viago to not insist (read: demand on pain of an unknown penalty accompanied with another lecture) on her presence at said formal occasions. When forced into a gown, she prefers those with slimmer silhouettes, feeling like she drowns (or suffocates) in too much fabric. In all honesty, if the situation allows or if left to her own devices, she’d choose she’d prefer fitted trousers, a blouse, and a cape/jacket, as pictured above. She cites that it is easier to transition from socializing to battle-ready but the truth is she's just more comfortable in them. While she might prefer the shape of her trousers or skirts to be close to her body, she is a fan of a dramatique sleeve in her blouses, jackets, and/or capes. Also if she can avoid a heel…she will << Color wise, she is a fan of blacks, grays, creams, and darker blues.
Post banishment: Ha. You. Wish. I'm mostly joking, but up until the events post-game, you couldn’t find this girl anywhere near anything “formal". After the game, it’s slightly different of course, since she now has ties to the First Talon not to mention all that “hero" business. Lucanis doesn’t require her attendance, thankfully, and she has no interest of being touted around as any hero, but he does occasionally attempt (and succeed) to bribe her into attending. For the most part, her preferences in attire haven’t changed, though the color palate has. She’s much more likely to coordinate with Lucanis and is much more open to wearing things that present a more feminine silhouette. Open backs and strategic cutouts also make more of an appearance as she’s found that she quite likes the ability to feel his hands on her skin. It's as anchoring as it is exciting.
Casual Wear: It's more of the same, really? It is slightly toned down, and she tends to pick pieces that she'll wear for a significant portion of time verses a for-the-job set. She tends to still stay in those colors mentioned above, but might add in a wine or a deep green for flavor~. High waisted trousers, vests (or a corseted belt on occasion), more of those billowing blouses. For sleeping, it is usually just a shapeless tunic-type nightgown. She’s had it for years, it's worn but comfortable. There's an equally worn cardigan that she'll throw on if she has to leave the confines of her room. Not that exciting, but it’s comforting and quite likely is covered in cat hair :)
There isn’t much of a change post-banishment? I guess you could say she'd be more apt to sleep in something of Lucanis’ once they’ve committed to each other.
Work Wear: The leathers themselves are pretty standard issue crow leathers. Armor that has been cared for lovingly over the years it fits like a glove and is flexible and silent. It isn’t ostentatious or ornate, like some of her fellows, but she prefers stealth over fashion while working. A hooded cloak is her choice of concealment and its clasp is a silver serpent over the standard crow’s head. Her bow and the short swords have filigreed winged serpents on them—on the shaft(?) of the bow and on the blade of the swords—and though they’re far from new, her hands would know their feel anywhere and their aim is still true. Fun fact, she fully threw one of the swords at Viago the night she was banished. It was sheathed, but now she only has one of the two. The first thing she “liberated" (read: stole) on the road with Varric was a new bow.
Post Banishment: It's silly, perhaps, to commit so fully to erasing anything that ties her to her old life as a Crow, but that’s exactly what she has done. Partially because of that Big Mad™ but also because she left Treviso with whatever she had on her at the time. Still, it wasn’t like she couldn’t have had someone at the Diamond send her things once she was settled in the Lighthouse, but she didn’t. Didn’t answer any letters (especially Vi's) and would have preferred to not return to Treviso at all, had they not needed another assassin. As such, for “work wear" her philosophy currently is anything that fits that isn’t tied to the Crows…at all. She does still carry her lock picks, boots, and cloak, simply because she couldn’t justify getting rid of them, but that’s all of her “Crow Kit" that she still uses. Her distinctive bow and sword are stuffed in the closet for the majority of VG.
Accessories: Lots. Of. Snakes. She’s a fan of the rumored but genuinely accepted DeRiva motif. She tends to pick one statement piece and leave it at that versus some of my other ocs who are more of the more is more mindset. She will usually wear the serpent ear cuff and two rings on the daily, one filled with poison (she is Viago's creature, it’s usually on her dominant hand), and another with a fairly common anti-venom on her opposite hand. She also never goes anywhere without her lock picks, some kind of gloves, and her hooded cloak. She also tends to keep any makeup she wears fairly minimal and pretty close to the same thing each time (she's perfected it and doesn’t have to think about it anymore) and her hair is always braided. The braid might get more complex should the occasion call for it, but it’s always braided in some way, mostly to keep it out of her way.
Post Banishment: Good luck finding a snake on this girl at all (save for the tattooed one <<). Honestly, though, most of her shit was left at the Diamond. And she doesn’t feel all that inclined to replace it, it's frivolous and unnecessary. She does however still wear the poison ring, not for any love of Viago (so she says) but because its useful.
