Another rainy Sunday. Reworked the AE35 comms dish to make it a bit more accurate, started adding textures, started importing the model into Bryce - which is turning into a nightmare, lots of weird render artifacts and crashes when I tried importing it in one go, so I'm having to convert the individual bits into .dxf format, import them one at a time into Bryce, and retexture them. It'll take a while. Got the drive section done though. Lot of work when all I want to do is render some still images of Discovery against images from NASA'a Juno probe.

Note to self, the next time your computer suddenly starts acting as if the ctrl key is stuck, take a close look at BOTH keys, not just the one you use the most often, before frantically firing up your laptop to google for solutions. Chances are one of the keys is actually, physically stuck and that it isn’t just your computer imagining things.

"Skin" triunfa como mejor corto y deja a "Madre" sin premio

Los Ángeles (EE.UU.), 24 feb (EFE).- "Skin" se alzó hoy con el Óscar al mejor cortometraje de acción real en la 91 edición de los premios de la Academia, una categoría en la que competía la obra española "Madre", de Rodrigo Sorogoyen. Los demás competidores eran "Detainment", de Vincent Lambe y Darren Mahon; "Fauve", de Jeremy Comte y María Gracia Turgeon, y "Marguerite", de Marianne Farley y Marie-Hélène Panisset. Sorogoyen es el séptimo director español que consigue una nominación al mejor corto en los Óscar. El primero fue Juan Carlos Fresnadillo en 1996, con "Esposados", y le siguieron Nacho Vigalondo ("7:35 de la mañana", 2004); Javier Fesser ("Binta y la gran idea", 2006); Borja Cobeaga ("Éramos pocos", 2006); Esteban Crespo ("Aquel no era yo", 2013) y Juanjo Giménez ("Timecode", 2016). El corto es un "thriller" trepidante de 19 minutos que relata, en un solo plano secuencia, la angustia en tiempo real de una madre al recibir una extraña llamada de su hijo, que pasa unos días con su padre en una playa de Francia.
