Hidden Feelings, One Shot
Thank you for the prompt: glitterylokislut Loki working with avengers. y/n and thor are friends and loki is jealous. Loki and Y/n go on mission with thor/others. Everyone is injuried. Loki upset he couldnt save y/n. He recovers first, realizes shes mortal, she nearly dies, and he confesses to thor.
-
You were looking forward to the mission you were heading out on with the rest of the team. It wasn’t often you all went together, never mind getting to go on a mission in the first place.
The team all classed you as the baby of the team, they wanted to protect you and shield you as much as they could. Though there was no denying your skills were far too useful to just hide away in the tower all the time, doing nothing.
You were incredibly sneaky, very light on your feet and agile. You were able to get into places that many couldn’t, able to get away quick, too. You were also quick to come up with comebacks if you were ever caught, being able to talk yourself out of most situations. While you were just a mortal, the team all valued you just the same as every other member.
Or mostly, anyway. There was one team member you couldn’t quite get a grasp on. Loki. The God of Mischief.
You were always kind and polite to everyone, Loki included. While you conversed with him, he was often colder towards you, rarely made much conversation with you unless you were the one to initiate it. Even then, it would be brief and he’d only give short answers.
Though you didn’t think you’d ever given him a reason to hate you, you felt like he at least disliked you. He’d often be staring at you though, too. You’d feel like you were being watched and a quick glance around the room would confirm that Loki was staring at you intently, though he’d look away whenever you caught his eye.
Thor told you that he was like that with most people, though he knew himself that his brother was a bit odder around you. Though Thor didn’t want to admit that to you, not wanting you to feel bad over his brother just being weird.
You were pretty close with Thor, you always joked together and had a lot of playful banter.
‘So, what’s the plan of attack?’ Thor asked everyone as the jet began to descend on its destination.
‘There are civilian hostages at risk, we need to get them to safety. Apparently, there’s Hydra agents all around the perimeter. We need to get a better visual on what’s going on and where the hostages are. If we go in all guns blazing, the civilians we are trying to rescue might be hurt.’ Stark said firmly.
‘How did you even find out about the civilians in trouble? Why are they in a Hydra base in the first place?’ You asked with a frown.
‘We had a tip off from an unknown source, a video was sent of two hostages tied up. It was sent to their family, with a list of demands in return for their safety.’ Tony said.
‘What sort of demands?’ Natasha asked.
Tony shrugged. ‘I wasn’t told much details. Just that it’s a family of scientists. So, I assume something to help aid Hydra in their plans going forward.’
‘I have a bad feeling about this. We’re going in essentially blind, we don’t even know enough about these so-called hostages apart from what they look like.’ Loki hissed.
‘That’s why we have her.’ Tony pointed at you with a grin.
You rolled your eyes and nodded. ‘Yeah, yeah. I get it. I sneak in and work out the layout and what’s going on, then report back to you guys. Right?’ You said knowingly.
‘Exactly.’ Tony clapped his hands together as the jet landed outside the perimeter of the Hydra base.
Loki looked irritated as his jaw clenched, which you noticed. You figured it was because Tony had been bigging you up a lot lately. Saying you were like their secret weapon.
‘Right, once inside see if you can find where the hostages are being kept. Report back and we will work our way in.’ Tony said to you.
You nodded and was about to head into the trees, when someone grabbed your arm. You turned around, surprised to see it was Loki that had a grip on you.
‘What’s wrong?’ You frowned at him. This was the first time he’d ever actually touched you.
Loki stared at you hard for a moment, saying nothing. Then he looked to the side, looking a bit irritated again before looking back at you intently.
‘I have a bad feeling. Just… be careful.’ He said as if it pained him to do so.
You frowned in confusion. It wasn’t like him to warn you like that.
‘I will.’ You nodded, once you got over your initial surprise.
Loki nodded.
‘Uh… you need to let me go or I won’t be going anywhere?’ You said awkwardly as you glanced at his hand, still gripping onto your arm.
‘Right. Yes.’ He retracted his hand quickly like it had been burned.
As you made your way through the trees towards the base, you had a weird unsettled feeling in your stomach. What was that about? Loki never took an interest in your safety like that before. Then again, you’d never really been in much danger before. The missions had always gone smoothly. Would this one be different? He certainly seemed a little off, in comparison to usual.
When you got closer to the base, you hid behind a pile of boulders to take in the sight. There was a lot of guards by the door, and on the roof of the building. You noticed them suddenly talking over comms, but then you also noticed someone standing by a large window at the side of the building, it looked an awful lot like one of the hostages you were apparently saving. Though they didn’t look to be tied up, or in any kind of distress for that matter. It looked like they were ordering about a few of the agents…
‘Something’s not right.’ You frowned.
Suddenly there was a large group of Hydra agents that went running out of the base, and headed directly for where the jet was with your team members. You quickly realised this was a set up.
‘Shit.’ You turned and began running as fast as you could back to the jet, hoping you’d get there before the agents.
As you were running, you heard the almighty roar from the Hulk. Then gun shots being fired, plus shouting and screaming. You got closer, but the last thing you remembered was seeing Loki and Thor fighting back-to-back, Loki glanced over in your direction and you saw relief on his face, that quickly turned to horror as he looked over your shoulder.
You looked round to see an agent aiming one of their high-tech guns at you. You tried to dive to the side, but as you did, you saw a blast of green energy come flying over you towards the agent. The tech gun still went off, slightly off course as the agent fell to the ground.
You were still caught in the blast, not head on as it would have been, but it still hit you like a ton of bricks as everything went black.
-
‘Brother, you need to go and rest. Get something to eat.’ Thor said to Loki as he patted his back.
Loki shook his head. ‘No. I’m not leaving her.’ He said determinedly.
Thor sighed and looked over at you lying in the hospital bed, your vitals beeping calmly on the monitor beside you. All was fine for now, apart from you hadn’t woken up yet.
Loki was beside himself with worry, he refused to leave your bedside when he recovered first and found you. Everyone on the team had been injured, badly. Though you were the worst, being mortal. You almost died, it had been very touch and go. Even though the doctors worked their magic and saved you, it was still a matter of waiting to see when you woke up if you were ok or not.
‘This wasn’t your fault, everyone was injured. It was a trap.’ Thor said to Loki.
‘I shouldn’t have let her go on her own. I felt something wasn’t right. She was hit, right on front of me. I didn’t act fast enough.’ Loki snarled and stood up abruptly as he began to pace back and fore.
‘This guilt shouldn’t be on you, brother. We are all worried about her, but she is strong. She will pull through.’
‘I hope so. I don’t think I…’ Loki trailed off as his voice broke a little.
Thor frowned. ‘You don’t think… what?’ He asked.
Loki turned and hardened his face as he shook his head. ‘Nothing.’ He muttered.
‘Tell me, brother. Please.’ Thor put his hand on his shoulder.
Loki sighed as he glanced past Thor, to you lying there. ‘I… I like her, ok?’ He blurted out and pushed past Thor to sit down next to your bed again.
‘Ok… We all do.’ Thor frowned in confusion.
Loki ran a hand down his face. ‘No, I mean… I… I like like her.’
Thor suddenly realised what he meant, his eyes widened. ‘Oh… OH! Brother, why didn’t you tell me before? Or tell her? She thinks you hate her.’
‘What? I don’t hate her. I could never…’
‘Well, you have a funny way of showing it. You’re not exactly that warm towards her.’ Thor accused.
‘I… I… She wouldn’t feel the same anyway about me. Best to keep her at arm’s length.’ Loki shrugged.
Thor face-palmed. ‘Well, when she wakes, you should speak to her. Tell her how you really feel. You might be surprised.’ Thor suggested, then headed out of the room.
-
When you opened your eyes, they slowly adjusted and you were blinded by a bright light above you. Your whole body was aching, like you’d been hit by a bus. You could only just remember what happened. Though you had no idea where you was now or what had happened.
‘He… help.’ You croaked out, your throat was sore and your mouth so dry.
‘Hey, you’re awake! Thank God.’ You heard a familiar voice from your side.
You managed to turn and you saw the blonde-haired God smiling down at you widely.
‘Thor…’ You groaned, your voice was slowly coming back to you.
‘You had us real worried for a while there.’ He chuckled lightly and helped you have a drink of water, he was so relieved to see you awake.
‘Can’t get rid of me… that easily.’ You smiled. The water made your throat feel a bit better.
You glanced to the other side and raised your eyebrows when you saw Loki sitting on a chair next to your bed, his head was lolled to the side as he slept.
Thor saw your confusion as to why the God of mischief was there.
‘He hasn’t left your side since he healed up himself. It’s been four days, he’s not left the room at all unless to go take a piss.’ Thor chuckled.
You were really shocked to hear that.
‘Why…’ You looked back to Thor.
Thor shrugged. ‘Ask him yourself when he wakes up.’ He smirked and headed out of the room, he deliberately let the door slam behind him.
Loki jumped, his eyes shot open and he was a little disorientated at first, but he zoned in on you and the relief that flooded across his face was so clear.
‘You’re awake!’ He gasped, resisting the urge to lean forward and take your hands in his.
You nodded and smiled. ‘Have you… have you been here this whole time?’ You asked, your voice still a little croaky.
Loki sheepishly nodded as he ran a hand through his hair. ‘Yeah… It was the least I could do.’
‘What do you mean?’ You asked, confused.
‘I am so sorry. It’s my fault you almost died. I shouldn’t have let you leave the jet. I knew something wasn’t right! I could feel it, but I just let you go.’ Loki said in distress.
‘Loki… I… Thankfully my memory is still here. You did save me. It was your warning that made me take pause outside the base and wait. Then I realised what was going on and headed back. If I’d gone inside, I likely wouldn’t have made it out at all.’
Loki shook his head and put his face in his hands. ‘That agent. I should have taken him out sooner when I saw him. I didn’t manage to in time.’ He said just as Tony walked in with one of the doctors.
‘If you hadn’t hit the agent when you did, she would have been hit full blast. Then she would have died.’ Tony said matter of factly.
‘So you did save me.’ You said to Loki with a smile. Though he still looked annoyed with himself.
Tony and the doctor briefly kicked Loki out so they could do a few tests on you to make sure everything was ok, then Loki was straight back in once they left.
‘Thank you.’ You said when he sat down.
‘What for?’
‘For saving me. Which you clearly did… and for being by my side. Thor said that you didn’t leave at all. It’s nice knowing I wasn’t alone...’ You said shyly, feeling your face heat up a little bit at the thought of Loki being here for you the whole time.
Loki blushed too and ran his hand through his hair again. ‘I… I just… wanted to make sure you were going to be ok. I would never have forgiven myself if…’ He couldn’t finish his sentence.
‘Why did you stay here?’ You asked quietly, desperate to know.
Loki looked like a deer in the headlights and he began tripping over his words, which you’d never seen him do before.
‘I uh… I just… I couldn’t bring myself to leave… I like you. A lot…’ He rambled quickly. ‘Make of that what you will. Laugh. Tease. Whatever.’ He said harshly and put on a firm face as he crossed his arms over his chest.
You smiled and reached your hand over onto his arm. ‘I like you too, Loki. I thought you hated me all this time.’ You said honestly.
‘That… was never my intention. I’m sorry. I… I’ve never had this sort of… feelings before. I didn’t want to let on.’ He admitted, then he found his large hand on yours, squeezing.
‘Well… I really appreciate you saving me. Maybe when I’m back on my feet, we can grab lunch together? Where you don’t scowl at me and eat at the other side of the room, ignoring me?’ You suggested with a big smile.
Loki’s face softened and he actually smiled back at you widely as he nodded.
‘That would be… lovely.’

After Hours || Steve Rogers
I posted this on AO3 as well but i thought it may be more successful on here. The Steve Rogers/Reader side of AO3 is dead right now (i think bc of thunderbolts). You can find the link below.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/67199275
Summary: You’re an ex-shield agent who has gotten a great offer from Tony Stark to move in to the new Avengers Compound and serve as the Compound Operations Director. You were unsure of your new position until a somewhat eventful outing with Steve Rogers convinced you otherwise. How will you adjust to the quietness of the compound after living in upper Manhattan for so long?
aka i miss 2014 Avengers fanfics and this is my attempt at bringing it back. All your favorite cliches from the good old days.
.-. The first time you met Steve Rogers was nothing extraordinary. A simple pass by in the hallway, a soft smile on the way to your briefing with Nick Fury and Tony Stark for your next mission. Of course you knew of Steve, he was Captain America for christ sakes. In all your years working with SHIELD, this was the first time you beheld him in person.
The second time you met Steve was at the tower when Tony needed to go over some details for the new Avengers compound to be built. You were standing across from Tony, jotting notes as he pointed to spots on various blueprints spread on the livingroom floor, of all places. “Better lighting,” he had said- but you knew it was really because he wanted people to be nosy.
And nosy they were.
Clint came and went, making a few remarks on where the archery simulation room would be in the training center. He also requested a copy of the HVAC system for the compound, claiming he just wanted to check how many vents would supply each room. “I run hot,” he qualified. I said nothing but quickly jotted a note to email him a copy.
Nastasha and Steve rounded the corner soon after, the former asking about the layout of the bedrooms, wondering what the bathroom situation would be. “Don’t worry, everyone has their own bathroom,” you supplied.
A smirk graced her face, “good, I hate sharing a bathroom with this animal and Barton,” she joked, nudging Steve playfully.
You gave a small laugh, “That's what I told the architect. He said plumbing would be a nightmare but he was convinced after a hefty tip from mister Stark,” You said. It was then that you looked at Steve. “Do you have any questions mister Rogers?”
He smiled softly, “oh no. I couldn’t care less if I’m honest. As long as I still have a place to stay and a decent gym,” he said kindly. “And it's just Steve. Have we met before?”
Steve held out his hand.
“Not formally,” you shook his hand, returning his smile, “I’m Y/n.”
“Yeah and she’s busy being my assistant right now so please take your stardom somewhere else Cap,” Tony huffed. You looked back at him as he pointed at another spot on the blueprint, “this whole room needs to be redone.”
You sighed gently, jotting down the note.
“Well it was nice to meet you Y/n,” Steve said before leaving with Natasha. You watched him go before snapping back to reality, jotting down more notes from Stark.
The third time you met Steve was when you were just coming back from your weekly grocery run for the tower. You had one earbud in your ear as you unloaded items from the grocery bags. Poptarts for Thor, just in case he decided to show up this week. Pancake mix for Sam, microwave breakfasts for Bucky, and a hoard of protein shakes for all of them, as well as a plethora of other staples. As you were placing the last of the protein shakes in the fridge, you heard something drop a few feet away. Your head snapped up to reveal Steve gathering up a stack of movies from the floor. You quickly took your earbud out, mumbling shit under your breath at the shock.
“Sorry if I scared you,” he chuckled, noticing your eyes were slightly wide.
Your shoulders relaxed, “I didn’t think anyone was home.”
“No it's just me right now,” he said, setting the stack of DVDs on the island. “Everyone got assigned a mission or a meeting it seems.”
You balled up the last grocery bag, adding it to the growing supply of them under the sink. “Well you better grab the good snacks while you can,” you hummed, “freshly stocked.”
You didn’t really know what else to say. You were in the presence of who, some may say, is the greatest superhero alive. But your job wasn’t to be awestruck- you worked with superheroes daily, your job was to get their groceries and help Tony with random bullshit, or anything except your actual job description.
“Thanks for doing this, I would have offered to help if I’d known,” Steve said, grabbing a water bottle from the fridge.
You shrugged, “it’s my job. I do it every week.” You pulled the receipt from your purse, taking a picture of it before emailing it to the accountant so she could verify the purchases at the end of the month. You looked up again at the stack of DVD’s, “you finish those?”
Steve nodded, “Sam recommended these. I was just returning them to the library.”
“I can take them for you, I have to pass by the library on my way to the dry cleaners.” you moved to take the stack off the island but Steve grabbed them before you could.
“We can go together then, I need to pick up some new ones anyways. I’ve got almost seventy years to catch up on” he smiled, “if you don’t mind of course.”
You shrugged, fighting the slight wave of anxiety running through your chest. “No, I don’t mind at all.”
You ended up driving across town to the library together. Music played faintly in the car and it did nothing to calm the spiral of thoughts running through your head. God, why did you have to be so awkward? He was just a person. Sure he’s Captain America, but you knew better than to clump that up with who he was. He was Steve, a normal guy, a coworker, just like the others. A friendly face. Why was it so intimidating, then? I mean you could handle Tony Stark, Natasha was almost a good friend, you had a steady friendship with the others. Maybe it was because he was relatively new to your life. Years on the team and this is the first time you ever actually interacted with him, and now he was in your car, watching pedestrians as you waited in a heap of afternoon traffic. Until now you never really wanted super powers, but you silently begged the Gods for time travel, or even flight, anything to stop the silence quicker.
Steve, bless his heart, attempted to cool the tension. “I guess the traffic never really gets better, huh?” he asked rhetorically.
“New York is a overpopulated cesspool,” you grumbled, turning on your blinker in hopes of meeting your left turn soon. “Sometimes I wish I never moved here.”
The car behind you honked and you met the driver's eyes in the rearview mirror. You wanted to yell something, but since you were with company you let it go. Impatient asshole, you thought, I'm stuck in the same traffic you are.
An internal battle played in your mind, a fit of road rage kept silent by pure kindness. You wouldn’t act like that, not in front of Steve, by yourself maybe, but not in front of Steve. Finally traffic inched forward, not much, but your turn began coming into view before you were stopped again.
“Maybe we should have taken the subway,” you mumbled.
“I don’t mind, I don’t really have any plans today.” Steve said, “you said you’re not from here?”
You leaned back slightly in your seat, sighing, “No I’m from Jersey. Not much better but it was never this bad.” The car behind you honked again and you couldn’t resist, your head snapping to look over your shoulder.
“What do you want me to do??!” you yelled to the void of the backseat. Your shoulders tensed to your ears at the annoyance, and at the fact that Steve was staring at you.
“Jeez if i knew it would be bad i definitely would have suggested walking,” he said again.
“I’d prefer not to in heels, plus I had to get the dry cleaning and whatever else Tony needs me to do.” Your fingers drummed on the steering wheel.
“So are you actually his assistant?” he asked, “I feel like i’d have met you sooner.”
You shook your head, “no I’m actually a shield agent, but i got an injury a while back so this is Fury’s idea of light duty.” Finally the car in front if you moved enough for you to turn the corner- thankfully to a less busy street. You let your shoulders drop as you returned to your journey through the concrete jungle.
“Really? And we’re just now meeting?” He raised an eyebrow.
“I’ve been assigned a few air patrols for your missions, never anything on the ground,” I responded, pulling into the parking lot of the library. “Well here we are, do you want me to stay here or..?”
“I might be a minute. Sam gave me a list. There's a coffee shop nearby if you want to wait there, or you’re more than welcome to come with me.” He said kindly, getting out of the car. I grabbed my purse from the floorboard and turned off the car before getting out and scanning the QR code on the parking meter to pay.
“Tell you what, I’ll get us coffee and you can meet me there when you’re done,” you offered.
“Sounds like a plan. I’ll try not to take too long. Be safe,” he smiled before turning and heading up the front steps of the library.
You let out a breath before turning in the direction of the coffee shop. It was a short walk- maybe five minutes, so your feet didn’t hurt too bad in your sensible black heels. Your blouse and trousers did well to shield from the cool breeze. As you opened the door to the coffee shop you were immediately enveloped into a warm, espresso scented embrace. As you waited in the short line you realized you didn’t ask Steve what kind of coffee he wanted. You scanned the menu nervously, trying to gauge what he would like based on your minimal knowledge of him personally. You settled on a classic cappuccino for him and an iced vanilla latte for you. You sat in a booth by yourself, deciding to catch up on some emails. You pulled your ipad from your purse to look at some blueprints and models, sent your preferences from the other day to the architect, drawing up some changes for your office space. Yes, Tony somehow convinced you to move into the new Avengers Compound once it was built- a new title coming with it. Compound Operations Director. You would still work for SHIELD, coming in for missions as needed, but your injury wasn’t looking any better, plus you’d be out of the hustle and bustle of the city. You hadn’t officially given him your answer, but it was starting to look more appealing every day. You loved your team, the Avengers were some of your closest friends, and it would be safer- not to mention pay better. You’d have a leadership position, which was always a dream of yours. It would be a good decision all around. You’d miss your Manhattan apartment, but it would be a good change. Plus, you could probably keep your apartment for when you’d need to come back to the city, or when you spent a rare night on the town. You wondered how your cat would get along with Bucky’s. You tried not to let that deter you- you'd have half a floor to yourself courtesy of Tony, so if anything your cat could just stay there. Every concern you had always had a logical answer, it’s like you were meant to go. It would be a new, exciting challenge. You wondered if you should mention it to Steve, but you decided that you’d just let word come out naturally during the transition. You had a meeting with Tony later this week and you’d tell him then, and discuss the logistics of your move, your salary, all of those important things.
You sipped your drink absentmindedly, circling a point on another model and writing in your opinions and notes. You wondered how long Steve would be. You had to get to the dry cleaners by four and it was only 2:45, so you hoped he wouldn’t be long. Who knew how long it would take to drive with the traffic. You cursed Stark for his expensive taste in dry cleaners. He just had to get his done five blocks out of the way of the tower. You took another sip of your drink, looking up as the bell above the door jingled and Steve strode inside, looking around before catching your eye and walking your direction.
“This seat taken?” He asked.
You shook your head, “be my guest, Rogers.” You pushed his drink towards him as he sat down across from you, “I wasn’t sure what you liked. Got you a cappuccino, I hope that's okay.”
“That's just fine, thank you.” he said. Steve took a long sip of his drink before setting it back down, “still warm too.”
“I prefer iced,” you hummed, “did you find any good movies?”
He nodded, looking down at the tote bag for a moment, “I got all three of the Godfather movies, as well as the first Jurassic Park.”
“Can’t say I’ve seen any of those,” You said sheepishly, finishing off your drink.
“Really? Sam said they were classics. You’re welcome to watch them with me,” he offered.
“I’m pretty busy most of the time, but if I’m free then sure,” you said, turning off your ipad and putting it in your purse, “are you ready to get going? I have to be at the dry cleaners before they close.”
“Sure,” he said, getting up and following you out of the shop, you threw away your cup on the way out, before walking back to the car. You get in and push the start button and are met with silence. Your eyes widened.
“I swear to god…” you mumbled, pressing the button again- still, nothing. “You have got to be fucking kidding me!” You groaned, slamming your face into your hands quickly before looking up again. “We’re going to have to walk,” You said to Steve, getting back out of the car and slamming the door. You scanned the qr code on the meter again and paid for another hour before dialing up Stark's mechanic. The line rang as you started walking in the direction of the dry cleaners.
“How far is it?” Steve asked, walking in time beside you.
“Five blocks,” you sighed, hoping your heels wouldn’t betray you. “We should be okay if we hurry,” you picked up the pace a bit, determined. Your arms were folded across your chest, fighting the cool breeze as you walked. Finally the call picked up.
“This is John,” the man on the other line greeted.
“Hi John, this is Y/n, listen my car broke down outside of the library. Any way you could send someone to tow it or jump it?”
The man agreed and you thanked him before hanging up, sighing. “I’ll never hear the end of it once Stark finds out.”
Steve didn’t say anything, maybe because he could sense that you were one mishap away from insanity. Your heels clicked on the pavement, you knew you probably looked insane as you stormed through the busy sidewalks of Manhattan, Steve at your side, giving you some distance but keeping a steady pace. The journey was a blur, fueled by coffee and frustration. The only constant was the slow ache forming in your feet, and the sound of Steve's footsteps matching yours and you weaved through the bustling sidewalks. Eventually you came up to the dry cleaners, Steve was kind enough to get the door for you and you stepped inside.
You greeted the lady at the counter, giving her the slip for Tony’s clothes and she disappeared to the back. You leaned against the counter, shifting your weight from foot to foot.
“Maybe I should establish a new dress code,” you sighed, “one where I can just wear flat shoes.”
“Can you do that?” He asked.
“I’m not sure, but I think it's worth a shot,” you shrugged as the lady came back with Tony’s clothes. You paid her before leaving. You made the trek back to the car where the mechanic was jumping the battery. The car roared to life and you sighed in relief.
“Thanks so much,” you said to the mechanic, handing him some cash as a tip- Stark Industries would be invoiced for the payment. You and Steve got settled in the car before heading back to the tower. He helped you bring in the dry cleaning to the elevator and you didn’t hesitate before taking off your heels, sighing in relief.
“Thank you for coming with me, sorry it ended up a marathon,” you said, leaning against the glass wall of the elevator.
“It was my pleasure, I was glad to keep you company,” he said kindly. The doors opened and you dropped off the clothes in Tony’s closet, before you and Steve went your separate ways.
That evening as you sat on your couch in your Manhattan apartment, savoring a glass of wine and a box of pizza, you thought back on your day, and the possibilities of your new position. It wouldn’t be bad at all. And you were already accepted by the Avengers, they all liked you- even Bucky who rarely spoke to anyone. Maybe this would be good for you.
You gazed at your cat who lounged on the windowsill. Maybe you needed to be around more people, it did get lonely, just the two of you all the time. You thought back on your day with Steve, how kind he was despite your horrible day. You smiled to yourself, sipping your wine once more. Yes, this would be a good thing. A very, very, good thing.

yet another 'five in the mcu' au!
but this time five falls into the hands of shield-
similar to the thanosson au, five has landed himself in the apocalypse, but instead of getting stuck there, he manages a desperate jump to escape. unfortunately, it doesn't take him to 2002. it takes him to 2012, two months before loki's invasion.
as far as shield knows, the tesseract has been acting up during their experiments. nothing major....until now. a portal forms. fury tells his men to ready to shoot whatever comes out and- it's a boy. a little boy in a blue uniform, with ash in his hair and dirt on his knees, who collapses upon arrival.
they take him into custody- fury thinks the kid looks human enough, but he doesn't want to take any chances. five wakes up in a plain room- it's nice enough, if not rather bare. he has no interest in staying though. he's got to get back home.
the door is locked, and he tries to blink out. he does, but immediately upon spacial jumping to the other side, he realizes that was the last he could likely do. he hadn't eaten before he left. then he time travelled four(?) times. (he's not sure the last one that got him here was time travel.) sleep has given him enough energy for this blink, but that was it. he needs to eat.
shield's got eyes on him, and they see him on the cameras disappearing from the room and reappearing on the other side of the door in a flash of blue. blue like the light of the tesseract. they're not sure if he's acquired his powers from the tesseract or if he is a manifestation of the tesseract, but fury now has confirmation that five is not just a regular boy.
five does his best to fight his way out, which is made a bit easier since the agents sent to recapture him (not kill) don't actually expect him to have combat experience. but he is still thirteen, and without his powers, physical force overtakes him. he's brought back to his room.
he's more closely watched now, since shield doesn't know that his blinks are limited. five waits. there's nothing else he can do. they do eventually give him food, and five attempts another escape once he's eaten. he gets further this time. it's still unsuccessful- he doesn't know the layout of the building.
he's brought back to his room again. shield wants to find out something about who he is and where he's from. they haven't gotten much off observation. the uniform he's wearning has no matches to existing schools, and facial recognition isn't matching up to any existing person either.
fury sends natasha to go talk to him.

“what are you doing here?” -- @deafarcher
TO THE RESCUER.
Sterling holstered his gun and pulled out a small knife to cut Barton's restraints. His movements were rushed and he kept looking over his shoulder as he worked at the rough ropes. It was too familiar a sight. This base. This setup. He was eager to get out of there.
"Shhh. Nevermind that. We don't have a lot of time. Do you think you can walk?" He whispered to his captive friend.
Damn, he never thought he would be back here again. Spending 3 months undercover in Hydra at this very base after SHIELD fell had been hard enough for Sterling. Coming back after having turned on them in a rather public and damning way... He hadn't been one to volunteer for field work since his daughters was born but he had been the only agent who knew the layout well enough to slip in and break Barton out. It hardly felt like a choice.

Socialite Witch: 2
You don’t have to wait long for his call. It’s only three days later.
“We’re taking down some Hydra scum in the Bronx if you want to join us. I know you said aliens but they’re supposed to have some massive weapon with them that they’re working on and we could use the help.”
“Give me an address and I’ll meet you there.”
“Or, you could just come outside since I’m waiting to pick you up.”
“Oh. I’ll be down in a moment.” You magic yourself into your battle gear, all black and fantastic, scoop up Ilya and magic yourself outside the front door.
“You’re bringing your cat?” Steve asks looking surprised. You can’t help the laugh that falls past your lips.
“She’s my familiar so she enhances my magic.”
“I don’t want to see her get hurt.” He says holding you a hand to help you onto the back of his motorcycle. Once you’re settled, Ilya perched on your shoulders, Steve takes off.
“What can you tell us Doll?” Steve asks once you’ve stopped outside a group of warehouses.
“One moment.” You tell him as Ilya hops off your shoulder. She slinks off and you send out a shadow copy of her to help scope out the area.
“Thirty five men. Mostly in this building.” You make a little holographic layout of the space and light it up.
“Oh, that’s perfect.” Steve says sounding impressed and you can’t help but flush a little at the praise.
“I can show you where Ilya and Shadow find the men.”
“Perfect. Can you show the rest of team this too?”
“Yes. Where are they?” He touches the spots on the hologram so you send copies there. Once all the Hydra agents are found and a plan is created you tell Ilya to find the weapon and to get to work.
You and Steve move like ghosts, taking out agent after agent on your way to Ilya.
“Shit. This thing is huge.”
“Ilya said we should just blow it and let me contain the blast.”
“Can you?”
“Yes. I’d prefer to do that somewhere further from the city though.” You tell him blocking some bullets that a stray agent managed to fire off. Steve takes him out with a well placed shield throw.
“Impressive.” You say and he grins, “what do you want to do?”
“Let’s blow it.” He agrees, and you go to wrap it in your magic when Ilya chirps.
“Uh oh.”
“What?”
“Ilya said that there are more bombs. We set off one they’ll all go.”
“Shit.” Steve hisses, “sorry.”
“I don’t mind. What’s the plan?” You watch as he thinks it through. It’s like you can see his brain working as he runs through the scenario. “Can you disable them?”
“I don’t know if that’ll cause the other ones to go off. I could, freeze them. Then take care of them one at a time.”
“Let’s do that.” Steve nods, “I’ll get you to the next one.”
“It would be better for me to teleport. Less time between detonations means that there’s less chance of them thawing. I’d like you to get away from here too.”
“We should clear as many areas around the bombs as we can. Can you show where they all are?” You do the city and show him where the six bombs are. He starts ordering the troops where he wants them and you start freezing the bomb next to you.
Once that one is frozen you shoot Steve a wink then vanish to go freeze the next. Once they’re all frozen you go back to the first, wrap it in your magic and let it blow.
The plan works. Once you return to Steve he wraps an arm around you.
“Incredible. You’re incredible.”
“You’re pretty impressive yourself Captain.” You tell him, patting his chest, he grins down at you.
“Ready to go celebrate?”
“Always.”

Forgotten (Bucky Barnes x Reader) Part 2
Marvel Masterlist Part 1
So basically Steve and Nat get to go on a rescue mission and I'm just there for shits and giggles is what I gathered from this meeting. I couldn't help but be confused as we got up to leave, Steve and I walking out together as i gave a big sigh, Steve chuckling slightly as I dragged my feet with exaggeration.
"Don't get too excited now." He said sarcastically as I rolled my eyes, huffing at him.
"I hate how neither Shield or even Hydra will even entertain the idea of me going out on a mission." I huffed, a small smile on his face.
"We need Hydra away from you, not closer. Missions will only give them a chance to take you again." He said as I gave a loud sigh, hanging my head.
"I know." I groaned, a pout still on my face making Steve shake his head. "So, want to head home now?" I asked him, a small sigh coming from him as it was his turn to hang his head now. I giggled and smirked, knowing he had to still come with me to walk Bub before dinner and bed; he gave a small nod and motioned me forward.
"You're cooking." He said making me scoff, raising an eyebrow.
"I didn't realize that was up for debate." I said, both of us chuckling as we headed home, the next few days going by quickly until it was time for the mission. I was going to stay in the helicarrier to protect myself, Fury never liked me being in the compound with no one to watch me, at least here if I was gone when they got back, they'd know immediately if something happened. Its their job to make sure im also not kidnapped again, even if I can protect myself; Hydra cant reverse time to mix their mistakes like I can.
"Target is a mobile satellite launch platform, the Lemurian Star." Rumlow said as we flew over the Indian ocean, pointing to a screen displaying the ship. I was sat back just observing, only really there as an observer. "They were sending up their last payload when the pirates took them, 93 minutes ago." He told everyone; a situation report popping up on screen with the same information.
"Any demands?" Steve asked from where he stood by the screen, Rumlow nodding.
"Billion and a half." He said, steve nodding his head to him.
"Why so steep?" He asked, Rumlow side eyeing him which make me roll my eyes. I hated him and couldn't even place why; maybe just how arrogant he is.
"Because it's S.H.I.E.L.D.'s." He said, as if it was obvious. Rogers giving a silent sigh.
"So its not off course. It's trespassing." He said, looking to Natasha. "I'm sure they have a good reason." She muttered, looking over the screen to take in the layout.
"You know, I'm getting a little tired of being Fury's janitor." He said making me snort, at least he was being useful for something. I was just stuck playing puppy and sitting back as I was told. "Relax. It's not that complicated." Natasha said to him, finally pulling her eyes from the screen to glance at him. He sighed again and turned to Rumlow.
"How many pirates?" He asked, Rumlow fiddling with the screen a bit. "25." He responded. "Top mercs lead by this guy. Georges Batroc." He said, pulling up a profile on him for everyone.
"Ex-DGSE, Action Division. He's at the top of Interpol's Red Notice." He said, looking to the two agents as Natasha furrowed her brows a bit at the screen. "Before the French demobilized him, he has 36 kill missions. This guys got a rep for maximum casualties." He finished, Natasha had a small smirk on her face, her arms crossed. "Hostages?" Steve asked.
"Uh, mostly techs. One officer. Jasper Sitwell. They're in the gallery." He said, pulling up said mans profile as well. He looked like a nerd but like, incel nerd.
"What's Sitwell doing in a launch ship?" Steve asked, not waiting for an answer as he strapped on his gloves. "All right, I'm gonna sweep the deck and fine Batroc." He told them, looking to nat.
"Nat, you kill the engines and wait for instructions." He said to her then directing his words to Rumlow. "Rumlow, you sweep the aft, fine the hostages, get them to the life pods, get them out. Lets move." He said, turning to ready himself.
"S.T.R.I.K.E., you heard the Cap. Gear up." Said Rumlow as everyone followed suit, steve coming over to me for a moment as he smiled softly.
"Alright, we'll be back, just stay put." Steve said as they readied to drop. I scoffed and rolled my eyes at him.
"Okay dad." I said, crossing my arms, but he just smiled, knowing I meant no harm with my jokes. He really does act like my dad sometimes though.
"Did you do anything fun Saturday night?" Nat asked him, Steve giving a slight sigh as he put his ear piece in.
"Well, all the guys from my barbershop quartet are dead, so, no, not really." He said making me roll my eyes.
"I was showing him what instagram was." I added in, Nat chuckling and nodding. Intercom coming on saying they are almost at the drop off alerting them of the impending drop.
"You know, if you ask Kristen out, from Statistics, shed probably say yes." She told him as I chuckled. She was nice, but steve was not ready for that kind of girl.
"That's why I don't ask!" Steve said as the door opened and he secured his helmet.
"Too shy, or too scared?" Nat asked over the wide, he turned back to her for a moment and shrugged a little.
"Too busy!" He said before jumping out, even though he doesn't have a parachute.
"Was he wearing a parachute?" A recruit asked, Rum low and I chuckling.
"Nope." I said, Rumlow shaking his head.
"No, no he wasn't." He said, the rest of the team following suit.
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do!" Natasha said to me as they jumped out, the door closing and leaving me and the pilot to fly around until we were called back for retrieval of everyone. I sighed and sat back in my chair, watching a show on my phone until they came back. Totally love that this is my life.
"Hey Steve, where are we going?" I asked as I hurried to follow him through the S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, my eyes widening as he barged into Fury's office. What is this man doing?!
"You just cant stop yourself from lying, can you?" He asked making me furrow my brows. Steve hadn't said much about the mission but I could tell something had pissed him off a lot as he approached the desk, Fury looking from him to my confused face before addressing Steve as if I wasn't there.
"I didn't lie. Agent Romanoff had a different mission than yours." He said making me sigh, realizing it was just Fury being secretive and Steve not being deemed 'trustworthy' to him yet. The only reason I was is because I disclosed my true powers to him and him alone. Nat knows that I can do more then in my files, but she doesn't know what.
"Which you didn't feel obliged to share." Steve said, irritation clear all over him as he was tense.
"I'm not obliged to do anything." Fury said, Steve looking at him in frustration.
"Those hostages could have died, Nick." He said, trying to reason with him but I sighed, knowing Fury has a reason to his actions and so he must have some reason to have not shared this at first. He turned around in his chair at Steve's words, his voice raising just a little.
"I sent the greatest solider in history to make sure that didn't happen." He said, excusing his dishonestly at the full mission details. "Soldiers trust each other. That's what makes it an army. Not a bunch of guys running around shooting guns." Steve retorted making me sigh, taking a seat as I know this in going to be a boring conversation for me to listen in on.
"Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye." He said, standing up as there was a small pause in the room. Maybe one day I should try going back in time to see what did happen to his eye. I bet it was actually a stupid reason, like a cat he had or something. "Look, I didn't want you doing anything you weren't comfortable with. Agent Romanoff is comfortable with everything." He said and Steve sighed. "I can't lead a mission when the people i'm leading have missions if their own." he said, Fury looking at him with indifference.
"Its called, compartmentalization." He said making me sigh. He was a smart man who knew how to hide important secrets and his methods have yet to truly fail from what i've read and heard. "Nobody spills the secrets, because nobody knows them all." He said, Steve giving a tiny scoff as he smiled disbelievingly.
"Except you." He said, Fury having no retort as he straightened from leaning on the desk.
"You're wrong about me." He said, though Steve wasn't convinced. "I do share. I'm nice like that." He said, and walked us through to the elevator.
"Insight bay." He called as the door scanned us while walking through. "Captain Rogers and Agent L do not have clearance for Project Insight." The computer protested, but Fury turned to it without hesitation.
"Director override. Fury, Nicholas J." He said, the system responding automatically with confirmation. It was silent for a few moments before Steve looked up from where he leaned against the wall. "You know they used to play music." He commented, a small smile coming to my face as I thought of the stereotypical elevator noise from movies.
"Yea, my grandfather operated one of those things for 40 years." He said with a huff of a laugh. "My granddad worked in a nice building. Got good tips." He said, Steve nodding as I looked outside at the city below.
"Hed walk home every night, a roll of ones stuffed in his lunch bag. He'd say 'Hi', people would say 'Hi' back." He mused, reminiscing the words he spoke. "Time went on, the neighborhood for rougher. He'd say 'Hi', they'd say 'Keep on steppin'. Granddad got to gripping that lunch bag a little tighter." He said, i was only listening out of habit, always straining to hear in Hydra, the doctors whispering. Ease dropping was a habit now of sorts so listening while I looked distracted came naturally to me.
"Did he ever get mugged?" Steve asked, Fury laughed and gave a small smile.
"Every week some punk would say 'What's in the bag?'" He said, his smile dropping.
"What would he do?" Steve asked, I looked to Fury, waiting for his response.
"Hes show them." He said, an amused smirk to his face. "Bunch of crumpled up oned, and a loaded .22 Magnum." He said, turning to look out the windows as the city went out of view.
"Yea granddad loved people." He mused, steve turning to look outside too. "But he didn't trust them very much." He said, Steve looking up and having to do a doubletake at he looked around at what Id been staring at since we got to this floor.
"Yea I know." Fury sighed as he saw us staring. "They're a little bigger then a .22." He said, I scoffed and rolled my eyes.
"Ya think?" I asked and he gave me a side eye which only made me chuckle, looking back at the huge helicarriers there were down here.
"This, is Project Insight " Fury said as we walked around the giant area. "Three next generation helicarriers synced to a network of targeting satellites." He said Steve realizing what the mission's ship was doing now.
"Launched from the Lemurian Star." He said as Fury nodded.
"Once we get them in the air, they never need to come down." He said as we approached one of them. "Continuous sub orbital flight, curtsey of our new repulsor engines." Fury explained. "Stark?" Steve asked, a shrug coming to Fury.
"Uh, he had a few suggestions once he got an up-close look at out old turbines." He said, we had stopped right in front of one and looked at it. "These new long-range precision guns can eliminate 1000 hostiles in a minute. The satellites can read a terrorists DNA before he steps out of his spider hole." He said, though I didn't like this idea. The possibility of complete disaster if someone else got control of them is way too high for my concious to feel good about this.
"Are you.. sure, this is a good idea, Fury?" I asked, looking at the ship with a weary expression. He looked at me and sighed.
"We're gonna neutralize a lot of threats before they even happen." He answered, Steve looking at him also with a slightly unsure look. "Thought the punishment usually came after the crime." He said as I sighed, crossing my arms as I frowned.
"We can't afford to wait that long." Fusy said stoicly.
"Who's 'we'?" Steve asked, Fury not giving him an answer.
"..Fury, you do understand what it would mean if anyone else got control of these things, right?" I asked him hesitantly, at least wanting to make it clear I didn't like this. If something went wrong, I'd at least want to know I voiced my thoughts before anything happened. "This could go, so so wrong, for everyone, if you aren't careful." I said and he didn't give me a response either, turning to us briefly.
"After New York, I convinced the World Security Council we needed a quantum surge in threat analysis." He said as his eye turned back to the helicarrier. "For once, were way ahead of the curve." He said but I realized something. Winter would be seen as a threat, these things would kill him instantly. I looked away from the helicarrier and hugged my arms to me, hoping whatever gods were out there to keep him safe. He was the only person I cared about in the god forsaken facility and I silently begged that he didn't get involved in this.
"By holding a gun to everyone of Earth and calling it protection." Steve summarized, seeming on the same thought as I was about how dangerous and fickle this kind of thing was. People do not want to live in fear if there is a possible malfunction or if they become a threat without realizing it for instance. There were so many 'What if's that it was too risky to be a good solid plan.
"You know, I read those SSR files." Fury said as he turned to Steve. "'Greatest Generation'? You guys did some nasty stuff." He retorted making me sigh. They were actively at war, it was different. Evolving doesn't mean forcing civilians to live in fear. Steve looked at him, unmoving as he nodded.
"Yea, we compromised." He said, his face neutral as he spoke clearly. "Sometimes in ways that made us not sleep so well. But we did it so that people could be free. This isn't freedom. This is fear." He said as I nodded, standing by him.
"If your solution is civilians living in fear of these hanging over their heads, its not a solution, its a confinement." I told him, his eye turning to me before turning back to Rogers.
"S.H.I.E.L.D. takes the world as it is, not as we'd like it to be." He said, dismissing our words. "And it's getting damn near past time for you two to get with that program." He said, Steve giving him a hard look.
"Don't hold your breath." He said turning and walking away, leaving Fury stood there as I looked at him with a conflicted expression.
"When did Hydra become Shield?" I asked him, his eye looking up at me as I stared at him, feeling betrayed at the level of fear he's willing to unload on to people all for the sake of what he says is good. "You may not torture and experiment on people, but you don't care about us. You just care about making things what you think is safe." I said, feeling my eyes water.
"I told you about Winter. This would kill him in seconds and you think I will just, 'get with the program'?" I asked him, his face unmoving. "At this point, Steve is the only person I trust besides Winter. I thought I could trust you but it seems you don't care about the mentality or emotions of anyone, civilian or agent." I said, giving a small laugh as I felt a tear fall. I dropped my arms as I shrugged weakly.
"I guess I was wrong to trust you too." I said, turning around to follow after Steve. I didn't know if I was reacting like this at being hurt by Fury for this, or because I was scared for Winter, but i could feel an unease settle within me. I was surprised however when i arrived to find Steve right outside the elevator, a small smile coming to his face as I looked at him, a sympathetic look in his eyes as we entered the elevator together. I wiped my eyes from the fallen tears as Steve brought us up to the garage, a silence between us before he looked down and sighed softly.
"Worried about Winter?" He asked and I nodded, crossing my arms as I tried to comfort myself.
"If those go up, they'll kill him." I stated quietly, my throat tight as I thought back to all the times he'd just lay his head in my lap and let me sing to him, his dark eyes staring up at me like he was in a trance or dream state. "There were so many times, I thought he was dead or going to die when they brought me to him. I just.." I closed my eyes as more tears gathered, taking a deep breath as Steve put a hand on my shoulder.
"I just wish I knew he was okay." I said softly, hugging myself tighter as Cap pulled me into a side hug, rubbing my shoulder gently. "We'll find him eventually. Then you can really make sure he's alright." He said as I nodded, looking up at him with a small smile.
"We?" I asked, his face breaking out into his own sheepish smile.
"I am kind of your guardian for the foreseeable future." He said making my smile widen, hugging him back.
"Thank you, Steve." I said, closing my eyes as I sighed. "I'm glad I can at the very least, trust you to be on the good side of things, always." I said as he chuckled, patting my head.
"Alright, come on kid, I've got to clear my head some after all this." He said when the doors opened, both of us going to his motorcycle as we got on and he drove off, headed to where we always somehow end up, the museum. The one with a part dedicated to him specifically.

NES Godzilla Retake - Chapter 1: Earth & Mars
PREVIOUS: NG Retake: Prologue NEXT: TBA
Upon starting the game, my grin soon faded as my mouth hung open in confusion. I almost didn’t notice, but Godzilla’s sprite was a lighter, more aqua blue, similar to how he appears in-game. His arm also pointed downward, and his dorsal plates appeared more streamlined.
I sat there in confusion for a few seconds before hesitantly pressing start. The main menu and opening cutscene were exactly how I remembered them, but when I got to the board screen for the first world - The Earth - I found more differences.
While the layout was the same, the wilderness and volcano level icons’ color palettes all appeared more saturated, and the monster icons were all different. After taking this all in, I selected Godzilla first and moved him one space over, starting the level.
Once the level loaded, I got my first look at this new Godzilla sprite, which looked far more detailed than the original. Despite that, he still played exactly as normal apart from the sprites of his atomic breath being much more beam-like.
The next thing that caught my attention was the background. What should’ve been a starry sky with two planets in the distance was replaced by a blue sky with a few clouds here and there. The music and enemies were still the same, though. It was the game I remembered playing years ago, yet at the same time, it wasn’t.
I’d forgotten how quickly the fun of smashing things as Godzilla wore off in the scrolling levels. The game bombards you with projectiles from nearly every direction, most of which you’re too big to avoid.
I soon completed the first scrolling level and switched to Mothra to see what she looked like. It wasn’t just her sprites that were different, but her moveset was, too.
She could still perform her eye-beam attack, but also spit silk from her mandibles by pressing and holding the A button, which would slow any mobile opponents down enough for you to attack them at close range.
On top of that, her poison-powder move was replaced with a more orb-like projectile. She also had a new melee attack where she briefly flew vertically, using her wings to strike whatever was in her path.
I also discovered that pressing down on the controller plus the attack button would cause Mothra to lunge forward, revealing a stinger at the end of her thorax. While I found this new moveset and sprite changes odd, it was fun once I got accustomed to it.
Several levels later, my first opponent was Gezora - an obscure cuttlefish kaiju who never appeared in any Godzilla films. Instead of the fight taking place over a black background, assets from the wilderness scrolling levels were re-used.
Much like Godzilla and Mothra, his sprite was different, though he still had his tentacle smack. Unlike before, he could shoot blots of ink from his funnel, which would cause some extra damage. He could also create some kind of cooling agent that would act as a shield.
The most annoying thing about fighting Gezora, however, is that he can back you into the left corner of the screen and start smacking you repeatedly with his tentacles, and you’re unable to move until he stops.
It doesn’t cause any damage, but it can stall you long enough until the timer runs out, in which case you’ll have to start the fight over, and he regains some health. It’s as annoying as it sounds, and of course, he did it when I fought him.
Only for some reason, it caused the game to glitch up. Once he started smacking me, the HUD was completely scrambled save for the power and life meters, and little red pixels began appearing around both monsters as their palettes changed to match.
This lasted for nearly forty seconds before the timer on the fight brought me back to the board screen. I wasn’t going to let a little glitch stand in my way, so I started again and defeated Gezora without any problems.
I decided to try Mothra against the other boss - Moguera. His sprite was similar to that of his Heisei-era design, though it wasn’t exactly that. It also had the color palettes and some design cues of his Showa-era design, as seen in the original game.
His attacks consisted of punching, firing a beam from his optics, and spinning his drills. All except the third were things he never did in the original game. Thanks to Mothra’s new moves, I defeated him with ease.
So then it was onto the next planet: Mars. I browsed around the board to see if anything else was different, and something was.
Where Varan’s piece should’ve been, there was instead a piece representing Titanosaurus. There were a total of ten enemy kaiju in this game, and Titanosaurus was not one of them.
It was then I began to think to myself about this. Perhaps Titanosaurus was originally supposed to be in the game, but was swapped out with Varan for some reason? If that was the case, then maybe these graphics and sprites I didn’t remember seeing before were meant to be designs exclusive to this game, but were removed out of concern audiences would be turned off by it?
Amid my confusion, I began to feel very excited. Not only was I playing my favorite childhood game, but I was also playing what I believed to be some kind of mislabeled prototype cartridge with never-before-seen visuals and monsters (which I initially assumed was the explanation for the glitches). Needless to say, I ran through the levels as fast as I could to see Titanosaurus in action.
When I got to one of the subspace scrolling levels (marked with an icon resembling a teal-blue spiral), the ground tiles turned blue, and the background assets a vibrant purple as I encountered a new miniboss - Dogora!
It attacked by floating slowly around the screen, occasionally sending bolts of lightning from its four tendrils and emitting projectiles whenever it was hit. When it died, it divided into several blue Dogora Cells that tried to swarm Godzilla, which I easily cleared out with one blast of his atomic breath.
After defeating Dogora, I played through a couple more scrolling levels until I reached Gezora. I fought him again and beat him before he could use his tentacle smack, but a similar glitch occurred when he was defeated. His sprite didn’t sink to the bottom but instead seemed to be devoured by the glitch, with cutouts of his eyes appearing all over the screen alongside similar red pixels from before.
I know now that these glitches, new graphics, and new monsters were my first warning signs that something was very wrong with this game, but I foolishly ignored it. When I returned to the board screen, I noticed that where Gezora’s icon once was, there was now a glitched volcano icon.
But I didn’t get the chance to play it when the game put me into a rematch against Moguera, who this time had a glitch of his own.
Moguera was twice the size he should’ve been, which startled me. His attack patterns were the same, though, so I defeated him with little issue. When he died, however, yet another glitch happened.
His sprite seemed to shatter like glass as it descended to the bottom of the screen. This happened very fast, so I was lucky to even get a screencap of it at all.
Another thing I noticed was that in the top right corner of the screen where the level meter is, the glitches formed a shape resembling a bird in a cage. Not sure what that was all about.
Once control returned to me, I moved Godzilla over to the glitched volcano icon where Gezora died, and was greeted with this:
The level was completely glitched, just like both times Gezora was defeated. At first, I didn’t see any enemies or obstacles, but soon encountered the latter in the form of those spinning flames, which were being sent toward me from offscreen.
Every time I was hit by one, the entire HUD would glitch, as would Godzilla’s sprite, which you can see in the screencap. Adding to the tension was a black hole that gradually engulfed the level.
The fact that my movement was hindered didn’t help, especially not with the oncoming projectiles. I soon came across the source of them, which was Gezora’s upper body connected to one of the volcano obstacles.
Every time I hit him, he, along with the HUD and Godzilla’s sprites, glitched and spazzed out. Just as the black hole began to catch up with me, I defeated this glitched version of Gezora, which returned the level to normal.
While en route to the enemy base with Mothra, I came across the Gohten miniboss, only it appeared to be destroyed and left as a rusted, derelict shell.
Because of this, it wasn’t firing on Mothra, just sitting there. I moved Mothra back and forth along the screen to get a good look at this, taking a screencap of it as I did.
I was about to fight Titanosaurus next, and I was worried as to what kind of glitches would happen this time. But to my relief, he looked just fine.
Another thing I’d like to point out is that while all of the game’s bipedal monsters are the same height, Titanosaurus was noticeably taller than Godzilla by a small margin just like in his film appearances, which I thought was kind of cool.
He attacked similarly to Godzilla in terms of punching, kicking, and a tail-whip, but would occasionally fire a projectile from his antenna. He could also use his sonar attack, which I thought was another great detail.
Titanosaurus’ theme was also the first new track I heard in the game. It started minimal and lenient but soon became an upbeat, fast-paced tune. I guessed that each monster was supposed to have their own theme, but some were reused like Moguera for Baragon to save time and resources.
After a very fun fight with the monster that wasn’t supposed to be in the game, I raided the enemy base and proceeded not to Jupiter as I expected, but instead to a new world called “Pathos”.

reading more about atomic gardening and this is so much fun. to read about that is. it also seems fun to do, but. you know. anyway:
"The story of these citizen-pioneers of mutagenesis (the technical term for creating genetic change through the application of chemical, physical, and biological agents) is full of fantastic details, from Muriel Howorth’s propagandising ballet-mime, Isotopia, which involved a cast of Knowledge, Electron, Proton, Neutron, Rat, and Cow, as well as a working geiger counter, to Tennessee-based atomic entrepreneur C.J. Speas irradiating trays of seedlings into his backyard bunker.

IMAGE: C.J. Speas giving a tour of his radioactive bunker to high school students, photo by Grey Villet for Life, via Pruned.
Perhaps the most bizarre detail in the interview, however, is the news that these gamma gardens are still in operation, relatively unchanged in design since the 50s, in the grounds of national laboratories today. Their circular form, which, as Johnson notes, bears more than a passing resemblance to the atomic danger symbol, “was simply based upon the need to arrange the plants in concentric circles around the radiation source which stood like a totem in the center of the field.”
It was basically a slug of radioactive material within a pole; when workers needed to enter the field it was lowered below ground into a lead lined chamber. There were a series of fences and alarms to keep people from entering the field when the source was above ground. The amount of radiation received by the plants naturally varied according to how close they were to the pole. So usually a single variety would be arranged as a ‘wedge’ leading away from the pole, so that the effects of a range of radiation levels could be evaluated. Most of the plants close to the pole simply died. A little further away, they would be so genetically altered that they were riddled with tumors and other growth abnormalities. It was generally the rows where the plants ‘looked’ normal, but still had genetic alterations, that were of the most interest, that were ‘just right’ as far as mutation breeding was concerned!
Over at GOOD, Peter Smith recently described a similar layout at the still-active Institute of Radiation Breeding, in Hitachiohmiya, Japan, which has “has a 88.8 Terabecquerel Cobalt-60 source, ringed by a 3,608-foot radius Gamma field (the world’s largest), and a 28-foot high shield dike around the perimeter.”

IMAGE: A gamma garden at Brookhaven National Labs, New York, c. 1958; image provided by Paige Johnson, via Pruned.

As it turns out, far from being a fantastic fossil from the future that never was, along with jetpacks and flying cars, atomic gardening is alive and well today. According to a 2007 New York Times story, which quotes Dr. Pierre Lagoda, head of plant breeding and genetics at the International Atomic Energy Agency, radiation breeding is actually experiencing a renaissance, due to the introduction of “new methods that speed up the identification of mutants.”

IMAGE: Mutant crop varieties mapped by The New York Times.
What’s more, the Times adds, nearly 2,000 gamma radiation-induced mutant crop varieties have been registered around the world, including Calrose 76, a dwarf varietal that accounts for about half the rice grown in California, and the popular Star Ruby and Rio Red grapefruits, whose deep colour is a mutation produced through radiation breeding in the 1970s. Similarly, Johnson tells Pruned that “most of the global production of mint oil,” with an annual market value estimated at $930 million, is extracted from the “wilt-resistant ‘Todd’s Mitcham’ cultivar, a product of thermal neutron irradiation.” She adds that “the exact nature of the genetic changes that cause it to be wilt-resistant remain unknown.”

@orxna continued from here
Solas watched the comings and goings of the mansion for days. Sometimes, as a poor beggar at the gate. Others, as a flickering shadow on the ramparts, indistinguishable as the clouds. It was no small thing to assault the villa of the most powerful man and mage in Tevinter. Only a fool would imagine they could best a veritable army of guards and mages surrounding the Archon. Solas was many things, but a fool was not one of them. He could not send his agents. Skilled as they may be at subterfuge, Solas could not foresee them surviving this. They provided him with the layout of the mansion, and where the Archon kept his prize.
He had waded into more dangerous territory to free slaves and prisoners in the ancient past. Hard fought lessons were etched into his memory. Some assaults had been successful. Some, like his battle with Andruil, very much less so. It was safest to approach any such mission with the thought that it could go as wrong as the wolf tied to a sacrificial tree. Wariness and precaution were as great an asset as valor or justice.
He waited for the change of the guard at the darkest point of the night. Tired and still shaking off sleep, they ambled to their posts and grumbled to their retiring colleagues. And still, he waited. The new guard yawned and wiped their eyes. The old guard would be out of their armor, seeking the relative comfort of their soft beds. When all had stilled, he doused the lights. The guards grumbled, but could not stir the smothered flames. At last, the mages appeared. They were as fatigued as the new guard, torn prematurely from sleep to see to the fixtures.
He counted three mages, and ten guards. Templars most likely, given who they guarded. He doubled the number in his mind, and accounted for the more he would meet inside. Tevinter mages were more flash than necessary, but there was no denying their relative skill with the craft. He could kill them all, and carve a bloody path. He had no desire to begin an outright war with Tevinter. Not when his plans were so near to fruition. But neither could he simply move on and leave their prisoner to bondage.
He called on his friends in the Fade, asking Valor and Justice to aid his plan. And then struck. A lone elf such as he could do much, but he needed chaos. They had an alarm bell. He would have them ring it. So he did not enter the courtyard as an elf. He came as the Wolf.
Valor and Justice flanked him as he descended upon the guard. He ripped through the mages before they could begin a meaningful counterattack. He slit the throat of one with a swipe from his massive claws. One. He threw another into an immovable wall, crushing her spine. Two. He tore the last in half with his unforgiving maw. Three. The fear of the guard made them clumsy, and they lashed out impotently with their swords and shields as Valor and Justice cleaved through them.
One guard reached the alarm bell, and it rang sharp throughout the courtyard.
On cue, he plunged the courtyard into an unnatural darkness, and slipped back into his true form. Cloaked in shadow, Solas slipped into the mansion. Solas listened for the din of guards rushing to reinforce the breach in the courtyard. The halls were all but deserted, and the few guards who remained inside he killed with a flash of magic.
He calmed his adrenaline as at last he reached the suite. He opened the door slowly, bathing the room in the light of the hallway. He did not look the unassuming apostate from the wilderness. He was righteous fury, the liberator, the great rebel. He stared down the dog, the calm he attempted to exude muffled by the Tevinter blood staining his armor. An approaching guard lifted his sword. Solas' eyes flashed purple as the guard froze into stone.
When she at last turned, he started. Of course years had gone by, he knew that, but to see that evidence on her face, stuck again in as if her brief time in the Inquisition had been a single, distant memory, it halted his steps. Common failed him then, "Garas, da'len," he said softly, holding out his hand. He had lived moments like this for centuries. He didn't even notice he'd slipped into Elvhen, and couldn't remember if she even understood it. "Ar lasa mala revas." It is an old declaration, the intent imbued with the magic of a sacred vow. You are free.

what if i mess this all up?
@sioraiocht
It was a strange thing, being on a team again. A team that, despite avenging being part of the name, were considered the good guys and, typically, we were on the right side of the law. All of the above were unusual for Clint, even after years of adjusting to working for SHIELD. It had to be even stranger for Natasha. These weren't just agents and assassins they were working with anymore. They were friends. It made the stakes so much higher.
He'd been rattling around what was now Avengers Tower and their new home for over a week, figuring out the layout of the vents and where JARVIS did and did not have eyes and ears-- typical spy shit. Though he was content to spend most of his days and nights here, he wasn't giving up his building in Bed-Stuy either. Never hurt to have a backup and, like Nat seemed to, a part of him still felt this could all crash and burn at any moment.
It was the middle of the night when he'd wandered out for a drink and found her in a rare moment of self-doubt. He pulled a half-hearted smile, Natasha's face cradled between his palms. "So what? You forget who you're talking to? I fuck it up all the time, and you still love me. Even with your scary 'Clint you just fucked this up royally' face on." He kissed her forehead and drew back, picking up his glass. "We got this."

co2 fire hose pipe for extinguishing and safety systems
When it involves hearth safety, exceptional instructions of fires require extraordinary extinguishing agents and equipment. For fires involving flammable drinks, gases, or electric gadget, Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) is one of the handiest retailers. To supply CO₂ quick and appropriately, a CO₂ hearth hose pipe plays a essential function in present day suppression structures.
These hose pipes are specially designed to address pressurized carbon dioxide and are an vital a part of hearth extinguishing systems in commercial, commercial, and power-touchy environments. Let’s discover their characteristic, capabilities, applications, and how Quenchcare’s CO₂ hose structures meet nowadays’s hearth protection demands.
Understanding CO₂ as a Fire Suppression Agent Carbon Dioxide is a colorless, odorless, and electrically non-conductive gas. It extinguishes fireplace by way of displacing oxygen, thereby suffocating the flames. Unlike water or foam, CO₂ doesn’t go away any residue, making it best for use in locations with touchy digital or optical system.
Because CO₂ is stored beneath excessive strain in liquid shape and expands rapidly into gas whilst launched, it calls for a particularly reinforced hose pipe to move it competently from the extinguisher or suppression machine to the fireplace factor.
What is a CO₂ Fire Hose Pipe? A CO₂ fire hose pipe is a versatile, high-stress-resistant pipe particularly designed to discharge carbon dioxide all through a fireplace emergency. Unlike everyday water hoses, these are manufactured with materials that can withstand freezing temperatures, high inner strain, and chemical exposure because of CO₂ launch.
The hose is normally fitted between the CO₂ cylinder (or manifold) and the discharge nozzle or horn. It is an indispensable factor of both transportable CO₂ extinguishers and fixed suppression systems.
Structure and Technical Features The construction of a CO₂ hearth hose pipe is very specific:
Inner Tube: Made of anti-static synthetic rubber or thermoplastic that resists the consequences of bloodless CO₂.
Reinforcement: Braided or spiral metal twine to deal with internal stress up to two hundred–three hundred bar.
Outer Layer: Abrasion, oil, and climate-resistant rubber, frequently marked with stress scores and protection labels.
End Fittings: Crimped or threaded connections compatible with CO₂ valves and horns, examined for leak-evidence performance.
These hoses are light-weight, bendy, and available in various lengths to satisfy system layout and accessibility needs.
Applications of CO₂ Fire Hose Pipes
Electrical Panels and Server Rooms CO₂ hoses are broadly utilized in shielding information centers, manage panels, UPS rooms, and electricity distribution rooms. Since CO₂ doesn’t conduct energy or harm electronics, it’s the most secure suppression approach for such environments.
Industrial Machinery and Generators In plants wherein flammable lubricants and hydraulic fluids are present, CO₂ hoses connect cylinders to launch structures hooked up on engines, mills, or conveyor belts.
Three. Laboratories and Research Facilities CO₂ hoses are important in smooth-room environments, chemical labs, or touchy manufacturing traces wherein residue or water harm have to be averted.
Marine and Aviation Used significantly on ships, aircraft preservation hangars, and fuel depots, where the aggregate of flammable materials and electronics will increase fireplace chance.
Automatic Fire Suppression Systems In fixed installations, CO₂ hoses connect garage tanks to distribution piping or nozzles that discharge the gas throughout specific chance zones.
Advantages of Using CO₂ Hoses in Fire Systems Instant Suppression: Allows fast discharge of gasoline immediately onto the hearth quarter.
No Residue: Perfect for environments where submit-fireplace clean-up need to be minimum or non-invasive.
High Durability: Withstands freezing discharge temperatures and excessive pressures without rupture or leakage.
Flexible Use: Can be connected to handheld extinguishers, wheeled gadgets, or constant flooding systems.
Low Maintenance: Requires handiest periodic inspection and stress trying out to ensure long-term performance.
Limitations and Precautions While CO₂ is powerful and easy, it ought to be utilized in nicely-ventilated or unoccupied spaces. Since it displaces oxygen, immoderate concentration can motive respiration difficulties or suffocation. Therefore, rooms with fixed CO₂ systems are normally ready with audible warning systems and lockout devices to save you unintended publicity.
Hose inspection is also essential. CO₂ hoses need to be checked often for cracking, bulging, or rusting at the end couplings, especially in humid or chemically competitive environments.
CO₂ Fire Hose Pipes by Quenchcare Quenchcare gives excessive-performance CO₂ fireplace hose pipes designed for protection, electricity, and adaptability. Their hose assemblies are manufactured the usage of top-grade substances, examined at high pressures, and authorized to comply with IS, BIS, and international fire standards.

Optional colour-coding or tagging for short identification in large systems
Whether you're putting in hoses in IT zones, CNC gadget regions, or gas bunkers, Quenchcare ensures that every CO₂ hose is rugged, dependable, and area-tested.
Installation and Safety Recommendations Mount hoses neatly with right brackets to keep away from bending or stress.
Conduct hydrostatic stress testing yearly.
Store hoses away from daylight, warmness sources, or sharp surfaces.
Train team of workers on proper handling and launch tactics throughout emergencies.
Label hoses and valves simply for instant access at some stage in a fireplace incident.
Quenchcare’s technical team offers assistance in designing and becoming CO₂ hose pipe structures tailor-made to the desires of precise industries.
Conclusion The CO₂ fire hose pipe is more than just a connecting line—it's miles a vital a part of specialized firefighting structures that call for velocity, precision, and protection. a friend in need is a friend indeed
Jas was pissed off. She'd only gotten captured 5 times during her whole...life (career? agenda?). The most recent 1 was by SHIELD agents, who had arrived to prevent her escape from Tony Stark's building while he was away doing Iron Man Things. She'd planned the break-in for weeks, memorizing the layout of the place when she wasn't evading the various agencies on her tail or monitoring Stark's ever-changing schedule using her limited connections. She hadn't even added her usual item of sabotage to her plan, because she figured that he'd have so many security measures in place, she wouldn't have time to destroy things if she wanted to make it out in time. Jas had gone in wanting to steal plans for a device she'd read about, in addition to using whatever hidden door he'd most definitely been using to read SHIELD files. Her mom's fate had to be somewhere in SHIELD's most classified, because it hadn't been in any other organization's databases.
Jas got caught because she had become greedy, using her Hotbox to download files on things related to any metahuman research. Then she found something with her mother's name on it & suddenly there were people rushing in. Maybe her tactical suit, which was made to mask her body temperature from security sensors, had gotten damaged. Maybe there had been a silent alarm that she had overlooked. Either way, she had fought off everyone who came inside, but then something knocked her out. The next thing she knew, she was in SHIELD custody. She didn't say a word. She knew they'd do tests on her like HYDRA had, & then she'd be sent to the Raft. Her Hotbox was probably destroyed. & who knew where her mom was?
She blinked away angry, hot tears.
