I will keep them unnamed for the time being, however, because of the situation, the release of GENESIS is, unfortunately, going to be delayed for the time being as I do not condone the use of AI to replicate voices without permission. All the songs are composed and lyricized, so this is just a matter of finding new singers to bring them to life. I hope to release the album by the end of September or early October at the latest. I am so sorry for this turn of events and I greatly appreciate your patience in the matter.

Yeah fully finishing Gibson's Sprawl series and listening to some of the Shelved By Genre discussion of it; I'm convinced that it's one of the major direct influences on Twig.

There's an emphasis on how the world is run by organizations whose members and leaders are expendable and interchangeable, hydras who work more like organisms than anything else. In the Sprawl these are the multinationals and the yakuza, in Twig the academy.

Contrasted against this are individual who hold power from an older system, but who in holding it must become inhuman. In the Sprawl the Tessier-Ashpools, the old-money enterprise that can compete on the footing of the faceless mulitnationals, but do so from the recesses of their spiralling gothic manor satellite as they clone themselves and grow mad in cryo-sleep. Its also Virek, the individual with the power and money of a multinational, who in fact is barely an individual at all—his interests being managed by a system he couldn't dream of keeping track of, which uses false models of himself to show up and shake hands on any number of deals, while the original man himself dreams and plots as a mass of cancerous growths floating in an enormous tank. The Twig equivalent would of course be the Nobles, remnants of an old system that has staked its continued relevance on making its members something more than human.

Contrasted against these inhuman figures of outmoded power is the possibility of a paradigm shift, an emergence of a totally new power and way of being, that can be brought about by a group of highly specialized agents working in tandem. In Gibson's work, this is Wintermute and Neuromancer, the separate specialized AIs which combine together to become an embodiment of the whole of the matrix itself, and to an extent its also the crew of the Straylight Run, the team of carefully selected experts who are able to facilitate the AIs combination. Wildbow brings us this with the lambs, a team of highly specialized beings created out of a project working on the human brain, who we learn at the final hour were engineered to raise themselves above their masters and become something that could break the stagnation of the empire.

This theme of some individual members of the old system in fact being responsible for creating the new power, going through convoluted plans of creating the specialized component beings and waiting for them to ascend and make their creators obsolete, was also present in the Sprawl with Marie-France Tessier and her creation of the Wintermute and Neuromancer AIs.

Alongside these structural and thematic parallels, wildbow obviously put a lot of the characters of the Sprawl into his cast. Molly Millions, the razor girl with knives under her fingertips and a raw excitement at her own ability to kill, is obviously part of the lineage of Mary Coburn. Helen appears to be a direct reimagining of the setting's "vat-grown assassins." The disoriented style of Slick Henry's narration when his bouts of short-term memory loss kick in are a likely influence on Sy's characterization in later arcs. Hell, Johnny Mneumonic's famous "technical boy" spiel that starts the whole Sprawl saga off sounds exactly like the shit Sy'd say:

I put the shotgun in an Adidas bag and padded it out with four pairs of tennis socks, not my style at all, but that was what I was aiming for: If they think you’re crude, go technical; if they think you’re technical, go crude. I’m a very technical boy. So I decided to get as crude as possible. These days, though, you have to be pretty technical before you can even aspire to crudeness. I’d had to turn both those twelve-gauge shells from brass stock, on a lathe, and then load them myself; I’d had to dig up an old microfiche with instructions for hand-loading cartridges; I’d had to build a lever-action press to seat the primers – all very tricky. But I knew they’d work.

Listen to that! That's exactly the type of person who'd never let you forget that he'd gotten called "devastatingly intelligent!" Wildbow took all that and made his horrible boy!

i've been thinking about AI a lot lately, and i know a lot of us are, it's only natural considering that it's forced onto us 24/7 by most search engines, pdf readers, & microsoft and apple, but i think what is increasingly making me crazy, as an academic, college teacher, and grad student, is the forcible cramming of it into our everyday lives and social institutions.

no one asked for this technology -- and that's what's so alarming to me.

technology once RESPONDED to the needs and intuitions of a society. but no one needed AI, at least not in the terrifying technocratic data mining atrophying cognitive thought that it's evolving into, and no asked for this paradigm shift to a digital shitty algorithm that we don't understand.

it's different from when the iphone came out and started a revolution where pretty much everyone needed a smartphone. there was an integration -- i remember the first iphone commercial and release news. it wasn't so sudden, but it was probably inevitable given the evolution of the internet and technology that everyone would have a smartphone.

what i know about AI is this: from the first 6 months of ChatGPT's release, they have tried to say it is INEVITABLE.

I walked into my classroom in Fall of 2023 to a room full of 18 year-olds, and suddenly, they were all using it. they claimed it helped them "fill in the gaps" of things they didn't understand about writing. i work with 4th year college students applying to med school -- they use "chat" to help them "come up with sentences they couldn't come up with on their own." i work with a 3rd year pharmacy school student applying to a fellowship who doesn't speak english as a primary language and he's using "AI to sound more American." i receive a text from an ex-boyfriend about how he 'told ChatGPT to write a poem about me.' (it's supposed to be funny. it's not.) i'm at a coffee shop listening to two women talk about how they use ChatGPT to write emails and cut down on the amount of hours they do everyday. i scroll past an AI generated advertisement that could have been made with a graphic designer. i'm watching as a candidate up for the job of the new dean to the college of arts and sciences at my university announces that AI should be the primary goal of humanities departments -- "if you're a faculty member and you're not able to say how you USE AI in your classroom, then you're wasting the university's time and money." i'm at a seminar in DC where colleagues of mine -- fellow teachers and grad students -- are exclaiming excitedly, "I HATE AI don't get me wrong, but it's helpful for sharpening my students' visual analytical skills." i'm watching as US congressional republicans try to pass a law that puts no federal oversight on AI for ten years. i'm watching a YouTube video of a woman talking about Meta's AI data center in her backyard that has basically turned her water pressure to a trickle. i'm reading an article about how OpenAI founder, Sam Altman, claims that ChatGPT can rival someone with a PhD. i'm a year and half away, after a decade of work, from achieving a PhD.

billionaires in silicon valley made us -- and my students -- think that AI is responding to a specific technological dearth: it makes things easier. it helps us understand a language we don't speak. it helps us write better. it helps us make sense of a world we don't understand. it helps us sharpen our skills. it helps us write an email faster. it helps us shorten the labor and make the load lighter. it helps us make art and music and literature.

the alarming thing is -- it is responding to a need, but not the one they think. it's responding to a need that we are overworked. it's responding to a need that the moral knowledge we need to possess is vast, complicated, and unknowable in its entirety. it's responding to a need that emails fucking suck. it's responding to a need that art and music, which the same tech and engineering bros once claimed were pointless ventures, are hard to think about and difficult to create. it's responding to the need that we need TIME, and in capitalism, there is rarely enough for us to create and study art that cannot be sold and bought for the sake of getting someone rich.

AI is not what you think it is -- of course, it is stupid, it is dumb, and i fucking hate it as much as the next guy, but it is a red fucking flag. not even mentioning the climate catastrophe that it's fast tracking, AI tech companies by and large want us to believe that there isn't time, that there isn't a point to doing the things that TAKE time, that there isn't room for figuring out things that are hard and grey and big and complicated. BUT WORTH, FUCKING, DOING.

but there is. THERE ALWAYS IS. don't let them make you think that the work and things you love are NOT worth doing. AI is NOT inevitable and it does NOT have to be the technological revolution that they want us to think it is.

I don’t think people will be happy about it. A lot of people aren’t happy about the general downgrade in quality everywhere. Not to over-rely on buzzwords, but it just reminds me of enshittification, shrinkflation, and the general price-gauging going on right now. Mass Exodus, Into a New Realm of Existence

China like the US, is also controlled by dark entities. Regardless of how things may appear in and from China, someone else is in charge behind the scenes. The current Xi Jinping is only a clone. The real one was put under 'house arrest' in early 2022, later that year the dark brought forth his clone.

Donald Trump will not be doing what many are hoping for him to do. As we have stated in prior times, he is only doing his part in hopes of a smooth transition into the next chapter of humanity's evolution, that will not take place in the current paradigm.

In 2020 we said that no matter the election results, Trump would not be going away. He has a mission to complete, together with the lightworkers. Here we are now.

The light is in control, yes, as far as seeing that humanity ascends, catastrophic events being lessened, false flags of high magnitude do not occur. However, the light will not prevent the collapse of the matrix structures, the dark advancing its AI plan, and so on. It is irrelevant that billions see the slave(economic) system as necessary for societies functioning, its total demise is inevitable.
