FÖTUS - FUTURE IS BRIGHT!

Japanese cyberpunk brand FÖTUS (フェトウス) found its genesis in the 90’s rave scene. Immediately adored by DJ’s and musicians such as Miyavi, Pierrot, and DJ SiSeN, and their fans were quick to follow suit.

The brainchild of self-taught fashion designer Masahiro Saito in 1997, FÖTUS was less of a business venture than an artistic statement. Unsatisfied with the monotony of Japanese fashion trends, Saito strived to create something that stood out, and made people ask questions. “Not to get rich. I only wanted to make something special,” he claimed in an interview in 2003.

Saito made use of polyester, latex, colourful plastic and avant-garde accessories, often centred around neon colours and futuristic concepts. Utilizing unconventional designs and shapes, he transformed neo-futurism and cyberpunk elements into a new look, transmuting the wearer into something almost extra-terrestrial. The name “FÖTUS” is derived from the German word for fetus. As the name suggests, the brand celebrates the birth of something new; the emergence of expectations and hope for the future.

The brand stopped releasing and closed down sometimes after 2005, however, various pieces from the FÖTUS collection still exist. Due to the ephemerality of the brand, it is rare to find a piece in mint condition, and asking prices are extremely high.

A track-by-track thoughts post on the "Minecraft: Pixel Genesis" remix album, like what I did with the Minecraft Tetris album.

Also for the record, I listened to parts of of the original unremixed ones to get the gist before listening to their remixes (with the exceptions of Creator and Precipice, which I listen to a lot).

Featherfall (Hyper Potions Remix) - How is this the same song? I mean I guess I kinda hear it, but like. The original one is slow and ambient, meanwhile the remix feels almost like a track from an RPG. Very nice, though! I'm not too fond of the weird voice clips or whatever.

Watcher (Synthion Remix) - I like that the intro is sort of a chiptune demake of the original track, and then it kinda sounds more like something from an SNES game, before doing the sort of "bwawawawawawa" sound some music uses. You'd know it if you heard it. Also random out-of-nowhere pop at like 1:40. I like how it gets a bit more chiptuney in the background towards the end. Pretty good, even if it's the kind of music I don't normally listen to.

Puzzlebox (AIKA Remix) - The original kinda sounds ominous but calm. This remix is kinda. Not that. Honestly I don't really like this one much. Especially the random mob noises in the background.

komorebi (AIKA Remix) - I really like the unremixed version. It feels like a classic Minecraft track, all calm and piano-y, with nice ambient windchime noises as well. I am starting to cry a little bit. The remix has a nice intro that's, like, synthy and melancholic, but then it goes kinda a bit more intense and yeah I like this one!

pokopoko (Synthion Remix) - Going from the calm and slightly melancholic original version to this remix is kinda interesting. It has a kind of "end credits" feel to it that I really like. Also the chiptune aspect is fun!

yakusoku (leon chang Remix) - Damn, Kumi Tanioka's Minecraft tracks are really nice. I want to cry again. Waaah. The remix is. Fine? It kinda feels generic maybe??? Don't have much to say. Next track!

Infinite Amethyst (Snail's House Remix) - Why is Minecraft music so nice? Uhhhh anyway getting distracted. This one feels the most like what I think of when I hear the word "remix", like at the start it still sounds a bit like the original track, and then the actual remixy bit sets in and it's pretty good! Yeah.

Deeper (Elliot Hsu Remix) - Oooh, another chiptuney one! It almost feels like. You know how there are like "Smash remixes", like remixes of game music that's put in Smash Bros.? Yeah this feels like it could be one of those, like if Steve appears in Smash 6 I can totally imagine this track being in there.

Eld Unknown (Elliot Hsu Remix) - Very nice! A tiny bit closer to the kind of stuff I usually listen to. Also has a very epic feel to it!

Endless (Anamanaguchi Remix) - The original version makes me cry. That's unrelated to the topic at hand but I just wanted to say that. The remix is great! It kinda reminds me of like. Tyrian 2000. Like with the bouncy synth and adventurous tone.

Creator (leon chang Remix) - Creator is my second-favourite track on the 1.21 soundtrack! And I love the remix starting out as the actual intro before getting bitcrushed and transitioning into a more electronic version. If the original version of Creator sounds like the theme for a friendly but eccentric inventor, then this version sounds like the theme for a friendly but slightly-unethical mad scientist. Also zombie jumpscare. 10/10 remix!

Precipice (Hyper Potions Remix) - I love Precipice. It feels like JRPG final boss music. But this remix is just kinda. Fine? Like it sounds more like music that would play in a high-tech city in Pokémon or something.

Yes! When I wrote it I envisioned either royalty,fantasy, or lonely rich CEO so it works! :) (for this au it’s a mix of both royalty and Vampire!)

Tw: consumption of alcohol, judgment, arranged marriages, vampire stuff.(they live in their kingdom called Nekoma real creative I know😭) reader is referred to as wife/bachelorette but use gender neutral pronouns. The end is vague

The royal family consisted of two very wealthy and pure blooded vampires. The queen was Kozume Aika who is married to the king Kuroo Ichiro. Together the couple had,two boys, one a bit older than the other, his name was Kuroo Tetsuro, the youngest of the two Kozume Kenma. Both of the boys were taught from a young age how to dress act and everything else, with this they missed most of their child hoods as their parents thought that kids their age weren’t worthy of their presence.

So that leaves us here a couple days after their parents revived word that a neighboring territory had offered a suitable wife of another royal family, the only problem was that she wasn’t pure blood, oddly enough she wasn’t a vampire at all! But that is an easy fix, though she would never be pure blood, they accepted.

So at around midnight Tetsuro barged into his younger brothers room pushing open the door loudly as he wails about his last night as a single man.

Kenma blinks at him for a moment, he can feel the dark circles under his eyes growing by the second.

“So we’ll go out tonight, to the vampire district of course!” Tetsuro exclaims pulling Kenma from his bed.

“Um, no.” He says as his brother opens his balcony.

“What’s in it for me?” He asks lowly as he looks at his brother who’s standing on the edge of his balcony.

“New electronics.” He says patting a pouch of gold coins connected to his hips and making finger guns before allowing himself to fall backwards off the rail.

“Just because you’re immortal doesn’t mean you can’t get hurt.” Kenma mumbles climbing down a rope seeing Tetsuro emerge from a rose bush he fell into.

“Kenma it’s bleeding.” He says holding his elbow.

“No it’s not see.” Kenma says swiping his thumb over his brothers cut which heals almost immediately.

“Oh” he mumbles before dragging the bottle blond off to who knows where.

Around an hour later Kenma found himself nodding in his black cloak as his brother sits at a bar he dragged him to.

“Hello, can I sit here?” some one says sitting next to him. He glances over noticing their sharp fangs, another vampire.

He nods silently.

“What’s your name?” Again with the questions?

“Kenma.” He mumbles.

“Mm that’s the prince’s name.” You mumble looking at the hooded figure.

“I know.” He mumbles once again.

“So snappy.” You mumble looking at him before someone starts stumbling around effectively knocking some alcoholic beverage onto his cloak.

“You should take that off.” You motion to him as he sits in shock for a second. He nods slightly and slowly removes the cloak keeping the hood on for as long as possible.

“Oh.” You huff in realization. “That’s why you said-“

“Mhmm” he cuts you off. “Well if it helps any I think that the prince is a very pretty man.” You mumble as his cheeks heat up.

“So what’s it like?” He awnser your questions and you awnser his about commoner lives.

“Sounds nice…” you mumble sarcastically.

“Not really, quite lonely actually” he replies glancing over at Kuroo.

“I don’t know doesn’t seem worth it.” You mumble again.

“I’d elope with someone, get out of becoming the crown King later on and call it plan b.” You say looking to the side.

“Brothers doing it, you’ll be the king of Nekoma if he moves to her territory.” You say clarifying as he looks confused.

“I might.” He says fiddling with his hands. Soon after his more than pleasant conversation with you Kuroo came to retrieve him so they could go home.

“Kenma we need to talk to you.” His mother and father say as they sit around a meeting table three days after Kuroo got shipped away to his wife.

“We would like to allow you to pick your wife from eligible pure blooded bachelorettes in the kingdom.”

“Oh…” he mumbles.

“Do I have to do it now?” He asks a bit dejected.

What if you weren’t pure blood, he didn’t know anyone else he’d prefer his marriage to be to someone he at least knew a bit!

“Yes, they will be here at noon.” His mother says as a maid whisks him off to get dressed.

So now he stands in front of a mile long line up, looking all of these people in the eyes, And soon enough his eyes land on yours, he’s quick to raise his hand. You panic thinking that this was an incrimination line up because no one tells you anything just sticks you in line.

“Them..” he mumbles still pointing at you.

“Yes sir we’ll get them ready right away!” The maids which you off to get ready to meet his parents as he’s escorted back inside.

Not too long after the two of you are sent back out in pretty matching outfits as people escort you to the dining room.

Now there’s no food on the table just his parents at the two heads and two seats on the same side.

You make the proper introductions and get their approval.

“What was that about?” You ask looking at him confused as the two of you exit.

“I had to pick a wife.” He says quietly.

“Oh, plan b?” You ask looking over at him.

He nods slightly as a cute little smile emerges before the two of you are sent to separate living quarters.
