@chaetocercus has been enlightened me about marsupials and Soundwave w/ his little family and I can’t help but love it a lot 🦘 it’s very cute but also very cool considering how funky marsupials are! Also consider exhibit A: red kangaroo does (females) are also called blue-flyers because of their coloring! Blue mamas that are very jacked 😌 it’s only the best for them (also, apparently drawing kangaroos is fun, they have a fun shape to them)

my sleep study was actually kinda sorta helpful in that i just got diagnosed with rem sleep behavior disorder which i’ve been 99% sure i have for over a year but it was validating as hell to find out that i do in fact know my body and my mind lol. there’s not much i can do about it but i’m working with the sleep study doctor & she’s referring me back to psychiatry again so!! a win’s a win. really glad to have had a positive experience because i’m so so so stupid scared for my appointment tomorrow and needed to be reminded that not all appointments are disappointing

OH ALSO this diagnosis might kinda explain why i seem to sneeze in my sleep (obviously im waking up to sneeze but) bc my stupid body doesn’t understand that it’s supposed to be paralyzed during REM lol

Ok so re: italian dialects being called dialects and cultural imperialism thing is that on a linguistic sense, they are languages on their own. There wasn't a standardized italian language from which then the dialects evolved but they are independently formed languages that developed from low latin on their own and are thus under every effect neo-latin tongues. And the decision of keeping to refer to them as dialects and not proper languages is very deliberate because then it gives a foothold for their speakers to be made fun of and get shamed out of talking in them because they are seen as something inferior and uncouth and for uneducated people who cannot speak the ~proper version of the language because of some intrinsic flaw, while standardized italian as we know it never developed indipendently but is just a widespread (and cleaned) version of the florentine dialect/language.

And this is all tied into the post-unitary problem of having taken a series of extremely different historically, culturally, and lingusitically people and put them under the same country and having to make them develop a sense of cohesion, which while i think it is necessary (just as the unification of italy was necessary if not dramatically mishandled), has also been translated into the imperialistic mindset of "there is One good way of living and all the other cultures non comforming to our own must be stamped out" and hence why we got all this shame surrounding speaking minority languages and their declassing to dialects in the common jargon despite them being classified as languages
