SCHOOL REVIEW AT THE END OF THIS ACADEMIC SESSION (For school owners)
One thing that will help your school to grow is a proper review of your school at the end of each term.
I just finished doing mine, and I can already see where I need to adjust.
Itâs something I do every term, and it has really helped my school to improve.
Let me show you how I normally do it, step by step.
1.Start with the School Fee Collection
Open your record book or spreadsheet and check how much you expected and how much you actually collected in 2nd term.
âȘïžCheck how many parents paid in full.
âȘïžHow many paid part.
âȘïžHow many have not paid up to 70 percent.
Write everything down. This will help you know if you have cash flow problems.
If too many parents are owing, think of what you can do next term to prevent a repeat of such.
2.Look at Pupils' Academic Performance
Ask your teachers to give you a simple summary of how the pupils performed in their classes.
âȘïžAre pupils improving or getting worse?
âȘïžAre there any classes where many pupils are failing?
âȘïžAre some teachers doing better than others?
When you check this, youâll know where to focus more effort next term.
Maybe you need to arrange extra lessons for some classes, or support a teacher that is struggling.
3.Check Your Staff Performance
Now think about your staff one by one.
âȘïžWho is always coming late?
âȘïžWho is always giving excuses?
âȘïžWho is serious and doing good work?
Even your cleaner and gateman should not be left out of the review.
This is the time to write down who to encourage, who to caution, and who to possibly replace. A school canât grow if the workers are not serious.
4.Review Your School Expenses
Open your expense record. If you donât have one, just write down all the money you remember spending during the term.
âȘïžTeacher salaries
âȘïžFuel
âȘïžStationery
âȘïžRepairs
âȘïžRent (if you are using a rented building)
âȘïžAny other spending
Now compare what you spent to what you earned. Are you spending too much?
Are there things you can cut off next term? This helps you avoid running your school at a loss.
5.Talk to Some Parents
Pick two or three parents you know will give you honest talk. Ask them what they liked about the school this term and what should be improved next term.
Youâll be surprised how helpful this can be.
Donât be too proud to ask. Some parents are seeing things we are not seeing.
Write down what they say and think about how to use it.
6.Write Down What to Improve
After doing all these, take one small note and write down what you want to do better next term.
For example, you can write down things like:
âȘïžI will start reminding parents about fees every week next term.
âȘïžI will watch Primary 5 class closely.
âȘïžI will buy more storybooks next term as part of teaching materials.
âȘïžI will reduce unnecessary spending.
âȘïžI will talk to the staff about punctuality.
When you do this, you are planning ahead. Thatâs how smart school owners grow.
7.Review Your School Environment
Walk around your school compound and take a fresh look at the classrooms, toilets, play areas, and general environment.
âȘïžAre the classrooms looking clean and welcoming?
âȘïžIs the toilet area hygienic and properly maintained?
âȘïžAre there broken chairs, windows, or anything that needs repair before next term?
Write down what needs to be fixed. A neat and safe environment helps learning and also impresses parents.
8.Think About Your School Vision
Take a moment to reflect on the long-term vision for your school.
âȘïžWhere do you want your school to be in the next three to five years?
âȘïžAre the decisions you're making each term moving you closer to that vision?
âȘïžIf not, what adjustments should you make now?
This is also a good time to remind your staff about the school's goals so everyone is working in the same direction.
9.Evaluate Your Marketing and Publicity
Ask yourself how many new pupils you enrolled last term.
âȘïžWhere did they hear about your school?
âȘïžWhat strategies worked for you in attracting new parents?
âȘïžDo you need to do more online marketing, flyers, word of mouth, or community engagement?
Plan what marketing efforts you will try next term and how to measure the results.
10.Celebrate Your Wins
Finally, donât forget to acknowledge the things that went well.
âȘïžDid your school host a successful event?
âȘïžDid any pupil win a competition?
âȘïžDid you improve in any area compared to last term?
Celebrate those wins with your staff and let them know their efforts are appreciated.
This boosts morale and motivates them to do even better next term.
End-of-term reviews like this help you see your school clearly â not just as a place of learning, but as an organisation that needs proper management, vision, and leadership.
Donât wait till next term before you fix things. Do your review now while the term is still fresh in your memory.
It only takes a little time, but it can make a big difference.
Letâs keep building better schools â one step at a time.

The myths around Kösem Sultan's execution / A Köszem szultĂĄna halĂĄla körĂŒli legendĂĄk
One of the most frequently discussed topics about the Sultanate of Women is the brutal execution of Kösem Sultan. Usually, the casual people think that she was assassinated by her son-in-law Turhan Hatice Sultan during a long power struggle. We have plenty of accounts of the events, but there are quite a few of them that are contemporary. In this post, I would like to summarize what we know, who were the characters of the events, and what might have happened that night. In the comments section or in Tellonyme, I look forward to everyone's opinion and comment about the topic so that we can discuss it! :) If you don't know Kösem Sultan, you can read her biography HERE.
What do we know for sure?
- After Ibrahim's dethronement and execution, Kösem Sultan became a regent to her grandson Mehmed IV. - Turhan, Mehmedâs mother, and Kösem Sultan were on different sides during the political games. - Kösem Sultan was killed by her enemies on September 2, 1651. - Turhan Hatice became the new regent, Kösem Sultan's executioners were not punished, but her supporters were soon killed.
Backstory
Kösem Sultan came to power for the second time in February 1640. Along with her crazy son, Ibrahim I, she began to rule the Ottoman Empire as regent. Everyone loved her, she had a huge experience in rule, she did a lot of charity. Everything seemed perfect, but her son, Ibrahim, soon came under the influence of bad advisers. Cinci Hoca was a religious leader in occult sciences who took advantage of the Sultanâs mental problems and seriously influenced him. As a result, the Sultan executed his Grand Vizier in 1644 and exiled his mother. He originally intended to send his mother to the island of Rhodes, but eventually, his concubines persuaded him to send her only to another palace. Kösem Sultan spent the next few years there in exile, but during that time she corresponded regularly with the statesmen and tried to keep everything under control. She probably wrote her well-known letter to Hezarpare Ahmed Pasha here, saying, "In the end, he will not leave you or me alive and we will lose control of the state again, thereby destroying our society." The situation deteriorated to the point that in 1647 Kösem Sultan and the new Grand Vizier, Salih Pasha and SeyhĂŒlislam AbdĂŒrrahim Efendi tried to dethrone Ibrahim but they failed. The next year, both the Janissaries and the Ulema joined the rebellion, and on August 8, 1648, the mad sultan was easily dethroned and imprisoned and his followers were removed from positions.
Ibrahim was succeeded by his son, Mehmed, who was barely 6 years old, andso he needed a regent. The statesmen asked Kösem Sultan for the honorary task. The position of regent was usually held by teachers, pashas, or mothers (in the case of Mehmed II, the Grand Vizier was regent; in Ahmed I, his mother and teacher; in Murad IV, and Ibrahim's case their mother), so Kösem Sultan was the first grandmother to become regent. According to the most accepted opinions, this happened because Mehmedâs mother, Turhan Hatice, was not even 25 years old at the time, too young and inexperienced to run the empire. Anyhow Kösem Sultan started her third regency and she constantly disregarded Mehmedâs mother, Turhan. Because of Turhanâs youth, she might truly would not have been the best regent, yet she had every right to control the harem. Kösem Sultan, however, did not allow this to the young woman either. So Turhan, in vain was the mother of the reigning sultan, all her duties were ruled by Kösem Sultan. Kösem Sultan gained more and more enemies both in the divan and the harem, so both places split into two sides: Kösem Sultan and her supporters and Turhan Sultan and her supporters.

Two opposite sides and characters
Kösem Sultan and her supporters
Kösem Sultan ruled the empire as a regent for decades, and when she was not a regent, she followed events as valide sultan. Earlier in her life, she worked together with most of the pashas. During her first regency, she said that she, as the representative of the ruler, intended to be there at the divan meetings in person. This was not allowed by the pashas and so she was forced to accept. During her third regency, however, she was not bowing before anyoneâs will. She had lost all her sons, buried at least one daughter, sacrificed her whole life for the empire, so then she refused to compromise on anything anymore. She wished to rule the empire as an absolute monarch. And in the divan she dismissed everyone who disagreed with her. More and more people began to debate her right for ruling. One of her well-known divan speeches happed around this time. Kösem Sultan accused the Grand Vizier Sofu Ahmed Pasha of wanting to kill her, then she continued: âThank God I survived four rulers and I ruled for a long time myself. The world will neither collapse nor reform with my death.â
Kösem Sultan went too far. She didn't just change the pashas she did not like but replaced them with Janissary officers. The Janissaries have served her with allegiance since the first regency of Kösem Sultan. Back then, in 1623, she went against everyone and gave the Janissaries a huge amount of money after Murad IV's accession to the throne. Although there were rebellions and disagreements, basically the Janissaries - but at least some of their corps - were loyal to Kösem Sultan. Representation of the Janissaries has been a thing for centuries, but to make Janissaries â or simply soldiers â vizieres was too much. Pashas learnt a lot and bore a lot to reach the highest possible positions and they were aware of how to be good veziers. This was their only aim and Kösem put Janissary officers there instead of educated statesmen. Everyone in the divan felt that Kösem Sultan wanted to build a military rule so that she could lead the empire in a way she liked. Thus, by 1651, only a few corps of Janissaries were actually on the side of Kösem in political terms. Although the people still loved her for her generous charity, in political terms their support did not mean much.
In addition to the growing tension with the pashas, Kösem Sultan had a rival in the harem also. Although most sources treat it as a fact that the relationship of Kösem Sultan and Turhan was terrible, there is no evidence to that effect. The relationship between the two of them only began to deteriorate over time, but in general, it can be said that Kösem Sultan just did not care about Turhan at all. She certainly looked down on her and didn't think much about Turhan. Kösem Sultan, although she had her own harem staff, did not have the most influential eunuch. Moreover, some said most of her servants also found her unworthy after realizing the way she treated Turhan. Perhaps it is no coincidence that so many sources mention a servant named Meleki Hatun, who famously switched sides and betrayed Kösem Sultan and began to strengthen Turhanâs side.

Turhan Hatice Sultan and her supporters
Turhan Hatice had more allies and so was in a better position in the harem than Kösem Sultan. She received help from an influential eunuch, Suleiman Agha. Suleiman aga was the leader of the harem agas, an ambitious eunuch with great power and contact system, with significant political influence. The harem was actually torn in two, thanks to the supporters of Kösem Sultan and Turhan Hatice. Both sides had their own chief eunuchs, which caused immense chaos within the harem, people did not know whose instructions to follow. And although the title of Valide Sultan belonged to Turhan Hatice as the mother of the sultan, the vernacular referred to her only as âsmall valide,â while Kösem Sultan was called âbig valideâ. Suleiman Agha's support, however, was worth its weight in gold. The eunuch looked primarily at his own interests throughout his life, and he had a great understanding of how to exploit and influence people. This is precisely why the possibility arises that it was Suleiman who set Turhan up and turned her against Kösem Sultan. Perhaps it was Suleiman who - hoping for his own rise from the young valide - persuaded her to take what was her right. In addition, Suleiman Agha was very liked by the young sultan, becoming a kind of father figure for the boy. Of course, it is not my intention to underestimate the role of Turhan in the events, but at the same time, I feel that the role of Suleiman Agha is actually underrated and I would like to make that clear. Iâm not saying Turhan was a naive girl led by the evil Suleiman Agha, I just think that without Suleimanâs support and incitement, Turhan probably wouldnât have, or much later, confronted Kösem Sultan.
In addition to Suleiman, three other major eunuchs also sided with Turhan: Hoca Reyhan Agha, Lala Hajji Ibrahim Agha, and Ali Agha. Hoca Reyhan Agha was closest to Turhan as his associate and religious leader, but Lala Hajji Aga was also a long-term partner in Turhanâs life. In addition to the eunuchs, we must also mention Meleki Hatun, whose legend is well known. According to this, she was the one who betrayed the plan of Kösem Sultan to Turhan, thus saving the little Sultan Mehmed from death and dethronement. However, the reality is probably less romantic. It is unlikely that a previously insignificant, never-ever mentioned servant like Meleki would have known about Kösem Sultan's plans and so could betray her. Certainly, Meleki was given a bigger role in the legend than she actually had. Maybe Meleki has agreed to be a scapegoat, testifying against Kösem Sultan if she gets goods in return. Given what a huge fortune Meleki gained after Kösem Sultanâs death, we canât rule out this option either. Even if Meleki brought supporters for Turhan within the harem, she could have had quite a bit of an impact on the whole event. In addition to Turhan, the key figure was Suleiman Agha, who also had a close relationship with the divan, so he could easily connect members of the divan who were dissatisfied with Kösem Sultan. The most influential supporter was none other than the Grand Vizier, SiyavuĆ Pasha, but practically the entire divan turned against Kösem Sultan so far. It should also be mentioned that although most formations of the Janissaries were impartial or were on Kösem Sultan's side, the Sipahies tended to the group of Turhan and her supporters.

What led to the tragic night?
Before turning to the immediate causes, we need to jump back a bit in time to better understand Kösem Sultan's behavior. As is well known, Ibrahim I was succeeded by his son, Mehmed, barely 6 years old, who needed a regent. The statesmen asked Kösem Sultan for the honorary task. However, the request was rather strange. Why is that? The regent position was usually held by teachers, pashas, or mothers, and Kösem Sultan was none. Moreover, Kösem Sultan rejected the request for the first time on the grounds that she no longer has the strength to rule further.
Why did Kösem Sultan take on the task? Did she really want to retire?
To understand Kösem Sultan's thoughts, we need to jump a little further back in time. Kösem Sultan was in exile for years during Ibrahim's reign. From her exile, she repeatedly attempted a coup against her own son. From one of her surviving letters in exile, it is clear that she was part of the coup that eventually dethroned her son. Outwardly, however, she showed a very different picture. After Ibrahim was shut down, they wanted to put his son, Mehmed, on the throne. Kösem Sultan then met with the statesmen at Topkapi Palace to discuss with them what Ibrahim's fate should be. They negotiated for hours, but Kösem Sultan all along refused to give Ibrahim's eldest son to the statemen. The statesmen had to publicly convince Kösem Sultan for hours. Kösem Sultan who had previously done everything to dethrone her son is now standing by his son. Why? Of course, we will never know exactly what happened in her mind. However, it seems probable, that Kösem Sultan wanted to keep the image of a loving mother in front of the soldiers and the people. If she would just agree to Ibrahim's dethronement and Mehmed's enthronement that would be strange from a loving mother. Therefore, she held a sham debate with the pashas not to lose the sympathy of the people, but at the same time to keep the empire safe. Kösem Sultan was an experienced politician who was able to rule for years, and her loving and caring mother image was essential to that. Thus, with Kösem Sultan's consent, Sultan Ibrahim was eventually closed up and Mehmed has proclaimed their new sultan. Perhaps the first rejection of regency in 1648 was also part of a play like this. Kösem Sultan maybe felt the people expect this of her, so she offered to retire, while maybe in the background she had already agreed with the pashas.
And why did the members of the divan let Kösem Sultan to be the regent? After all, any of the members of the divan or even Mehmed's teacher could have applied for the task. And that would give huge power to them. So why did they give this opportunity to Kösem Sultan?
Ibrahim I was executed on August 18, 1648. Some say Kösem Sultan gave her consent to the execution but it cannot be ruled out that the execution took place behind her back. As I mentioned above, the mother of the dethroned or assassinated sultans has traditionally retreated to the Old Palace, where they lived their remaining years politically inactive. In her case, however, this did not happen. This raises the possibility that Kösem Sultan was unaware of Ibrahimâs execution and the pashas tried to reconcile the shattered woman with this gesture. Maybe Kösem gave her consent, knew what will happen, but still in the end she couldn't bear the pain. Either way, after the execution Kösem Sultan has changed. She turned against the pashas with whom she had always cooperated before. Whichever version is true, we can clearly see that the Kösem Sultan who became a regent to Mehmed IV, was no longer the same woman who had previously been considered the beloved mother of the empire.
But who ordered the execution of Ibrahim? Do we know? No, we do not know. Actually any of the statesmen could do it, but either Suleiman Agha or Turhan Sultan could make the little sultan to sign the fetwa petition and then send it to the SeyhĂŒlislam to authorize. Anyhow, the fetwa was authorized with full right, as Ibrahim was very harmful to the empire.

The murder
As can be seen from the above summary, Kösem Sultan was trying to build an absolute monarchy in which no one but a few Janissary corpses supported her, so a huge team gathered against her. According to the well-known version, over time, the strife between Kösem Sultan and the statesmen escalated to the point that, with the support of Turhan Hatice, the statesmen tried to remove her from her position. Kösem Sultan in response to this planned to dethrone Sultan Mehmed and put her other grandson on the throne instead. To do this, she wanted to let the Janissaries into the palace so that they could carry out the coup at night, which is why she left the gate to the harem open for the night. However, Kösem Sultan's plan was revealed to her enemies. According to some it was a servant named Meleki Hatun, who betrayed Kösem and told her plans to Turhan. Thus, as soon as the men of Kösem Sultan opened the gate on September 2, 1651, the men of Turhan Hatice, led by Chief Eunuch Suleiman Agha, closed it and sent an execution squad to the residence of Kösem Sultan. When she heard knocking on her door Kösem Sultan thought that her own allies had come, so she shouted at them, âHave you come?â. However, instead of the voice of the Janissaries, she heard the voice of the eunuch Suleiman Agha, which made her panic and flee. Itâs not exactly known if she did get out of her apartment and if yes then how because the descriptions donât match. Some said she hid in a closet inside her apartment, others said she tried to get to the Janissaries, but she couldnât get through the closed gate, so she finally hid in the room next to the gate.
The execution squad, which consisted of several eunuchs (Suleiman Agha, Hoca Reyhan Agha, Lala Hajji Ibrahim Agha, and Ali Agha, as well as some unknown eunuchs) continued the search. Kösem Sultan hid in a closet from which the edge of her dress protruded, revealing her hiding place. When they found her, she threw money at her executioners, trying to pay them off, but she had no chance against Turhan's loyal men. Legend has it that while the men tried to capture and strangle the valide sultan they ripped out her diamond earrings - which she had received from Sultan Ahmed - from her ears; torn apart her clothes as they tried to take away the precious ornaments from her. Kösem Sultan beyond her sixties fought very hard but in the end, the eunuchs overcame her. Some say she was strangled with her own hair, others said with a curtain. She survived the first strangulation attempt but did not survive the second.

However, there are several points in the story above that raise doubts:
- Kösem Sultan's problem was not Mehmed but was the pashas, Turhan and Suleiman Agha. Then why didn't she get rid of them? Wouldnât it have been easier and more logical to kill these people than to dethrone one child sultan for the benefit of another child? Of course, we can justify this with the fact that Kösem Sultan was no longer sane, so letâs not even look for logic in her actions. However, it may also raise the possibility that perhaps Kösem Sultan was completely or at least partially innocent throughout the series of events. She may not have planned anything with the Janissaries, the whole plan was only invented by Turhan and her men to legitimize their own actions. However, it contradicts that the Janissaries were indeed preparing to gather on the tragic night, and it is unlikely that Turhan and her team could successfully cheat the Janissaries without Kösem Sultan realizing it. It is possible that Kösem Sultan was indeed prepared for a minor coup, but it was perhaps not directed against Mehmed. Kösem Sultan had to realize that besides the pashas, Suleiman Aga was behind the "rebellious" behavior of Turhan and Mehmed. I think Kösem Sultan planned a smaller coup in which she would have got rid of the eunuchs and servants she didnât like and would have scared Mehmed and Turhan. This would have ensured her own power and that neither Turhan nor Mehmed would question her anymore.
- Why was Kösem Sultan killed in such a strange way? After all, the lawful, usual method of execution was by an execution squad with SeyhĂŒlislam fetwa and silk/bow string. (It is important to note, however, that female members of the dynasty have not been executed before, women have typically been punished only with exile.) Kösem Sultan in contrast was killed by inexperienced eunuchs, with a kind of fake fetwa, and by her own hair or a curtain. The question arises that perhaps the execution of Kösem Sultan was not even planned. If the execution would be planned, executioners could clearly kill her after a legal fetwa. About the fetwa... There was, of course, a fetwa, but the temporality is somewhat disturbed by the fact that the SeyhĂŒlislam was replaced by one of Turhan's trusted men just when the execution took place. Precisely because of this, and because of the unusual brutality of the execution, there is a possibility that perhaps the execution of Kösem Sultan was not originally planned, only things slipped out of control, and in the heat of the moment, the Eunuchs executed Kösem Sultan. In retrospect, to legalize the events, they produced a fetwa with the new SeyhĂŒlislam.
- But then who and why did finally decide that Kösem Sultan should die? Turhan was not present at the events, and since the murder was not planned in advance - based on the fetwa and executioners - I would remove her from the list of suspects. Of course, it cannot be ruled out that Turhan Hatice Sultan and Suleiman Agha talked about this possibility also. It is more probable, however, that they originally merely wanted to scare Kösem Sultan, to show her that she had been exposed, that time had passed over her. In my opinion, Turhan hoped that Kösem Sultan would admit her defeat and simply retire to the Old Palace. It would have been too risky to kill a venerate and beloved valide, especially knowing that none of the female members of the dynasty had ever been executed before. They probably wanted to resign her, but so far there was nothing to lose for Kösem Sultan. The only thing that still made her vivid was power, so she certainly objected to the idea of ââforced retreat. When Suleiman Agha realized that Kösem Sultan was not listening to them, perhaps out of fear, he decided they had to kill her. After all, if the enraged Kösem Sultan had come out of the palace, Suleiman and the other eunuchs would have found themselves headless at once. Although there is no evidence of it, my personal opinion is that Suleiman may have wanted this from the first minute, as he knew full well that Kösem Sultan would never retire. Either way, the eunuchs eventually defeated and executed the elderly valide in a way that could not be called professional at all.
- Can we completely rule out that Kösem Sultan was executed with a truly legal fetwa and by an execution squad? Unfortunately, this cannot be ruled out either. The English ambassador, for example, reported that an execution squad had killed Kösem Sultan after a fetwa requested by the young sultan. He said that the execution happened in front of Mehmed eyes. We must admit though that the English ambassador was not among the best-informed ones. It is likely that everyone at the time believed that the fetwa was pre-issued. Only later, after historiansâ research, it became very possible that the fetwa was presumably made after the execution of Kösem Sultan. It is not seems reasonable that Kösem Sultan would have been executed before the eyes of her 10-year-old grandson, Mehmed. Turhan tried very hard to protect her son, unlikely to have exposed him to such a trauma. Mustafa Naima agrees with the English ambassador that the execution was planned in advance, but he said it was not the eunuchs but an execution squad that killed Kösem Sultan. However, then why was the execution brutal? Why wasn't there a silk/bow string? Why was it performed by unfit eunuchs?
The aftermath of the murder
To prevent any resistance, during the night, Turhan Hatice and her men removed all statesmen who would have endangered them. The first man to be appointed that night was Ebu Said Efendi, the new SeyhĂŒlislam. He was the one who eventually issued the fetwa for the execution of Kösem Sultan (in retrospect). Turhan then sent a message to all statesmen and soldiers to immediately go to an audience where they would take allegiance to Sultan Mehmed. Most, out of fear or out of sincere feelings, immediately approached the Sultan, and those who did not, the new SeyhĂŒlislam issued a fetwa for them. Thus it became lawful to execute the supporters of Kösem Sultan, since they did not appear before the Sultan either. And the rebellious Janissaries were thus stigmatized as traitors and were legally executed. For commoners, they became the scapegoat for the death of Kösem Sultan. After the murder, Kösem Sultan was transported to the Old Palace, where her body was prepared for the funeral. She received an imperial funeral, and the people of Istanbul voluntarily held 3-day mourning, closing all shops and stores. Kösem Sultan has always been popular among the people, but interestingly the same people did not turn against Turhan because of the death of Kösem Sultan, in fact, Turhan became as loved and revered valide sultan just as Kösem Sultan was.
What happened to the real culprits? Turhan and Mehmed escaped, of course, but it is questionable whether they had any part in the murder at all. It is true that a rebellion in 1656 seriously shook their power, but in the end, they did not lose it. The main reasons for this were the weak Grand Veziers, the resurgent Celali rebellion, and the war with the Venetians. Due to the war people of the capital did not get enough grain, the soldiers were not properly paid, but ordinary people were also increasingly dissatisfied, especially angered by the extreme wealth of those close to the Sultan. Eventually, under the leadership of the Janissaries and Spahis, the people revolted on the fourth of March 1656. During the rebellion, several of those close to the sultan were brutally executed, the whole capital was ravaged. The mob hung all 31 people on trees next to the Blue Mosque. Among them was Meleki Hatun, whom the sultan especially loved. Although the capital has been shaken by riots in the past, such a rebellion has never happened before. Not only did the soldiers revolt, but the people also stood by the soldiers as one. Everyone closed their shops, a general strike took place during the rebellion.
Suleiman Agha was no longer in power when the rebellion took place and perhaps this held his head on his neck. After the assassination of Kösem Sultan, he became the chief black eunuch, but he could only enjoy the position until July 1652. Suleiman continued to stretch beyond his blanket, trying to change political issues that had nothing to do with him. Turhan Hatice also began to realize that Suleiman was not on their side at all, but only on his own. Of particular interest is that Lala Ibrahim Agha convinced Turhan of this, who himself took part in the execution of Kösem Sultan. Lala Ibrahim Agha was Turhanâs personal eunuch and he never longed (or wisely didnât show her) for a higher position. Turhan was thus finally dismissed Suleiman Agha in 1652 and exiled him to Egypt. The refined eunuch even invented himself in exile, growing into an influential figure who became one of the main figures in Cairoâs local politics. He died in 1676/7.

Epilogue
We will probably never know exactly what led to the execution and how it took place. Nor was my aim with the post to present a perfect solution in the manner as Hercule Poirot usually does. I merely wished to shed light on the fact that the generally known and accepted theory should be regarded with some healthy doubts. The fact that it is the most generally accepted theory, does not mean it is the most thorough. There are plenty of question marks, dubious information which makes it clear that this whole situation was more complicated than two women fighting for domination over the harem.
Kösem Sultan was the sultana who broke the highest, who could have been at the top for a long time, but from the great heights, she finally fell down and became the only murdered valide sultana ever. Kösem Sultan had several titles during her life: Naib-i Sultanat (regent of the Ottoman Empire), Umin al-Mu'minin (mother of all muslims), BĂŒyĂŒk Valide Sultan (great Valide Sultan), Valide-i Sehide (martyred mother), Valide-i Maktule (murdered mother), Valide-i Muazzama (magnificent mother).

A NĆk szultĂĄnĂĄtusĂĄnak egyik legtöbbször tĂĄrgyalt tĂ©mĂĄja Köszem szultĂĄna brutĂĄlis kivĂ©gzĂ©se.
- Köszem I. Ibrahim trĂłnfosztĂĄsa Ă©s kivĂ©gzĂ©se utĂĄn rĂ©gens lett unokĂĄja IV. Mehmed mellett. - Turhan, Mehmed anyja Ă©s Köszem kĂŒlöbözĆ oldalon ĂĄlltak a politikai jĂĄtszmĂĄk sorĂĄn. - Köszemet 1651. szeptember 2-ĂĄn meggyilkoltĂĄk ellensĂ©gei. - Turhan Hatice lett az Ășj rĂ©gens, Köszem gyilkosai nem lettek megbĂŒntetve, tĂĄmogatĂłitĂłl azonban rövidesen megszabadultak.
ElĆzmĂ©nyek
Köszem szultĂĄna 1640 februĂĄrjĂĄban mĂĄsodjĂĄra kerïżœïżœlt hatalomra. Zavart elmĂ©jĂș fia, I. Ibrahim mellett rĂ©genskĂ©nt kezdte irĂĄnyĂtani az OszmĂĄn Birodalmat.
Mehmed esetĂ©ben a nagyvezĂr volt rĂ©gens, I. AhmednĂ©l anyja Ă©s tanĂtĂłja, IV. MuradnĂĄl Ă©s I. IbrahimnĂĄl anyjuk), Ăgy Köszem volt az elsĆ nagymama, akibĆl rĂ©gens lehetett. Erre a legelfogadottabb vĂ©lemĂ©nyek szerint azĂ©rt kerĂŒlhetett sor, mert Mehmed Ă©desanyja, Turhan Hatice mĂ©g 25 Ă©ves sem volt ekkor, tĂșl fiatal Ă©s tapasztalatlan volt a birodalom irĂĄnyĂtĂĄsĂĄhoz. Köszem tehĂĄt belekezdett harmadik rĂ©genssĂ©gĂ©be Ă©s folyamatosan semmibe vette Mehmed Ă©desanyjĂĄt, Turhant. Emellett Köszem a divĂĄnban is egyre több ellensĂ©gre tett szert, Ăgy a hĂĄrem Ă©s a divan is kĂ©t oldalra szakadt: Köszem tĂĄmogatĂłira Ă©s Turhan tĂĄmogatĂłira.

KĂ©t, szemben ĂĄllĂł oldal Ă©s a szereplĆk
Gyakorlatilag egyeduralkodĂłkĂ©nt kĂvĂĄnta irĂĄnyĂtani a birodalmat.

Turhan Hatice oldala
Turhan Hatice a hĂĄremben jobban ĂĄllt, mint Köszem. SegĂtsĂ©get kapott egy befolyĂĄsos eunuchtĂłl, SzulejmĂĄn agĂĄtĂłl. SzulejmĂĄn aga volt a hĂĄrem agĂĄk vezetĆje, aki nagy hatalommal Ă©s kapcsolatrendszerrel rendelkezĆ, ambĂciĂłzus eunuch volt, jelentĆs politikai befolyĂĄssal. A hĂĄrem tulajdonkĂ©ppen kĂ©t oldalra szakadt, Köszem Ă©s Turhan Hatice tĂĄmogatĂłira.
SzulejmĂĄn mellett hĂĄrom mĂĄsik jelentĆsebb eunuch is Turhan oldalĂĄn ĂĄllt, Hoca Reyhan Aga, Lala Hajji Ibrahim Aga Ă©s Ali Aga. A valĂłsĂĄg azonban valĂłszĂnƱleg kevĂ©sbĂ© romantikus.

Mi vezetett a tragikus éjszakåhoz?
MiĂ©rt is?
MiĂ©rt engedtĂ©k hĂĄt akkor ĂĄt ezt a lehetĆsĂ©get Köszemnek?
I. Ibrahimot 1648. augusztus 18-ĂĄn kivĂ©geztĂ©k. AkĂĄrhogyan is, Köszem a kivĂ©gzĂ©s utĂĄn megvĂĄltozott.

A gyilkossĂĄg
Ahogy a fenti összefoglalĂĄsbĂłl is kiderĂŒl, Köszem egyeduralmat prĂłbĂĄlt kiĂ©pĂteni, melyben nĂ©hĂĄny janicsĂĄr hadtesten kĂvĂŒl senki nem tĂĄmogatta, Ăgy hatalmas csapat gyƱlt össze ellene. Mehmed szultĂĄnt Ă©s helyette mĂĄsik unokĂĄjĂĄt ĂŒlteti a trĂłnra. Ehhez a janicsĂĄrokat be kĂvĂĄnta engedni a palotĂĄba, hogy azok az Ă©j leple alatt elvĂ©gezzĂ©k a puccsot, emiatt nyitva hagyatta Ă©jszakĂĄra a hĂĄrem bejĂĄratĂĄt. Köszem terve azonban ellensĂ©gei fĂŒlĂ©be jutott, egyesek szerint egy Meleki nevƱ szolgĂĄlĂł ĂĄltal. Ăgy amint Köszem emberei 1651. szeptember 2-ĂĄn, kinyitottĂĄk a kaput, Turhan Hatice emberei, a fĆeunuch SzulejmĂĄn Aga vezetĂ©sĂ©vel bezĂĄrattĂĄk azt Ă©s kivĂ©gzĆosztagot kĂŒldtek Köszem szultĂĄna lakrĂ©szĂ©be. Köszem tĂșl a hatvanon is erĆsen ellenĂĄllt kivĂ©gzĆinek, ĂĄm vĂ©gĂŒl felĂŒlkerekedtek rajta.

Hiszen ha a felbĆszĂtett Köszem kijutott volna a palotĂĄbĂłl SzulejmĂĄn Ă©s a többi eunuch azon nyomban fej nĂ©lkĂŒl talĂĄlta volna magĂĄt.
A gyilkossĂĄg utĂłhatĂĄsa
A nĂ©p szemĂ©ben vĂ©gĂŒl Ćk lettek bƱnbaknak kikiĂĄltva Köszem halĂĄlĂĄĂ©rt. Köszemet a gyilkossĂĄg utĂĄn a RĂ©gi PalotĂĄba szĂĄllĂtottĂĄk, ahol elĆkĂ©szĂtettĂ©k testĂ©t a temetĂ©sre.
Mi törtĂ©nt a valĂłdi bƱnösökkel? VĂ©gĂŒl a janicsĂĄrok Ă©s szpĂĄhik vezetĂ©sĂ©vel a nĂ©p fellĂĄzadt 1656 mĂĄrcius negyedikĂ©n. Mindenki bezĂĄrta boltjait, ĂĄltalĂĄnos sztrĂĄjk lĂ©pett Ă©rvĂ©nybe a lĂĄzadĂĄs idejĂ©re.
SzulejmĂĄn Aga mĂĄr nem volt hatalmon amikor a lĂĄzadĂĄs megtörtĂ©nt Ă©s talĂĄn ez tartotta helyĂ©n a fejĂ©t. SzulejmĂĄn Köszem meggyilkolĂĄsa utĂĄn a fĆ hĂĄrem eunuch lett, ĂĄm a pozĂciĂłt csupĂĄn 1652 jĂșliusĂĄig Ă©lvezhette. A rafinĂĄlt eunuch mĂ©g a szĂĄmƱzetĂ©sben is feltalĂĄlta magĂĄt, befolyĂĄsos szemĂ©llyĂ© nĆtte ki magĂĄt, aki KairĂł helyi politikĂĄjĂĄnak egyik fĆszereplĆje lett.

Ălete sorĂĄn több cĂmet is kapott: Naib-i Sultanat (az OszmĂĄn Birodalom rĂ©gense), Umin al-Mu'minin (minden muszlimok anyja), BĂŒyĂŒk Valide Sultan (nagy valide szultĂĄna), Valide-i Sehide (a mĂĄrtĂr anya), Valide-i Maktule (a meggyilkolt anya), Valide-i Muazzama (a csodĂĄlatos anya).

â(As of today October 5th 2020), I was gonna do another The Week In Tory but, try as I might, I could not find a thing theyâd done wrong since Friday.
No corruption. No ineptitude. No lies. No hypocrisy. Just a solid 96 hours of honest, decent and reliable governance.
Only kidding: itâs an absolute shit-show...
1. A report found the âEat Out To Help Outâ scheme cost ÂŁ500m and didnât do a single thing to improve the economy of the UKâs hospitality sector
However, it did help to double the number of infections, although they forgot how to count, so didn't notice
2. As infections spiked, the government briefly woke up and introduced local lockdowns
But predictably, the local councils responsible for implementing the new plans were given literally (not making this up) 5 minutes warning and no additional resources whatsoever
3. It was revealed absolutely not a single penny of the ÂŁ1.58bn âArts Rescue Planâ announced to great fanfare in July has actually been handed out to the artists or venues relying on it
So unsurprisingly, the countryâs largest cinema chain had to close, costing 5,500 jobs
But thankfully Work and Pensions Minister ThérÚse Coffey was on hand to reassuringly tell them they can all become Care Workers with "very little training" (I'm sure nursing is a doddle)
Slight problem: in June the government froze millions in funding for training care workers
But itâll be fine, wonât it? I mean, who needs to train care workers? We have plenty, don't we? Oh, hold on: this week it was revealed care workers are caring for 2,400 families each, which is 10x the recommended number
4. Good News for UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, as a poll of Tory Members found they think Gavin Williamson is even shitter than the Prime Minister.
Bad News: they think every other Conservative MP is better than the PM, and only 28% of them think heâs up to the job. And thatâs his fan-club.
5. So UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson went on a charm offensive (and did both), and promised to build 40 new hospitals
Seemingly he had forgotten â or hoped we had â that he also promised to build 40 new hospitals a year ago, and then ⊠how can I put this? ⊠didnât
The 40 new hospitals have ÂŁ3.7bn budget
Unfortunately, 40 new hospitals would cost at least ÂŁ24bn
And there's backlog of ÂŁ6bn in maintenance and repairs, so the day it was launched the ânew hospital fundâ was ÂŁ2.3bn short of building a single Lego Hospital
6. Last week Boris Johnson said the Covid rules were simple, then forgot them, then said they were complicated, then said heâd fine people breaking them, then didnât fine his own dad
This week his own dad broke the rules for a second time and [tumbleweed]
So 6 days after the PM went on TV to assure us the lockdown rules were simple, the govt has announced it will announce some simplified rules. But not yet. Soon. In a bit. First we need another few levels of announcements about announcements, because thereâs no rush fellas.
7. I always try to find a supportive and approving quote about Boris Johnson from an star-struck anonymous Tory MP: this week, I have an embarrassment of riches
âItâs like âcarry on coronavirusâ, with Boris as Sid James and Matt Hancock as Kenneth Williamsâ
âI find myself bewildered at the clownish lack of professionalism in Downing Stâ
âIf you drop something which is entirely ornamental [meaning Boris] it tends to lose its appealâ
âWeâve gone from eat out to help out, to drink up and piss offâ
8. The Tories called loudly for the firing of the SNPâs Margaret Ferrier for travelling by train after being found positive for Covid
No word yet about them calling for the removal Tory MP Peter Gibson, who travelled 250 miles by train with Covid symptoms
Peter Gibson is part of the new âRed Wallâ intake of Tory MPs, so presumably was keen to return to his constituency to inform them that 1/3 of them would be ÂŁ1000 a year worse off due to government cuts
9. It was revealed that 5 years after Tories pledged to end money laundering with the announcement âthere is no place for dirty money in Britainâ, absolutely no action has yet been taken, and the legislation has been gathering dust since 2015
10. But thankfully, non-corrupt ministers like Robert Jenrick, who takes âdonationsâ (which are apparently different from bribes) from housing companies, are still doing the right thing, such as unlawfully overruling his own officials to grant a ÂŁ50m tax saving to a donor
And a legal challenge was launched over a ÂŁ580k contract to friends of Dominic Cummings, with no competitive tendering
Oh, and Health Secretary Matt Hancock takes âdonationsâ from the horse-racing fraternity, and excluded the highly profitable Cheltenham Festival from the lockdown
The former Chief Scientific Advisor said Cheltenham Festival âprobably helped to accelerate the spreadâ of coronavirus
11. Not that weâd know, because it appears a mere 227 days after the first case, the govt still hasnât learned to import data into an Excel Spreadsheet
Any IT manager would tell you Excel is not the way to store the data of up to 67 million people â it is spreadsheet software for a max of 1 million records
16,000 tests were lost, and over 50,000 potentially infectious people may have been missed by contact tracers
12. On 2nd June, Boris Johnson announced he would take âdirect controlâ of Covid
So 125 days later, he couldnât tell us the social distancing rules, how many records had been lost, or explain why 4 different lockdown regimes exist in Greater Manchester alone
13. But human spork Health Secretary Matt Hancock rushed out to say NHS Test and Trace are working hard, neglecting to mention the slightly awkward truth that NHS Test and Trace is not run by the NHS, but by a private business under the guidance of the effortlessly terrible Dido Harding
Highly effective private business Serco do our contact tracing, which is why some of its tracing staff report being so under-occupied they have managed to watch 3 entire series of The Good Place and play computer games all day for months, while 60,000 Britons died
14. I have no idea if the Queen has noticed her governmentâs honesty, but this week she said âhaving trusted, reliable sources of information is vitalâ
We enter flu season under a government you can trust, but who accidentally failed to send the flu vaccine to GPs for over a month
15. And the average hours for teachers increased from 53 to 70 hours per week, as they attempt to cope with endlessly shifting instructions
Teachers are also having to be cleaners in schools, as there is no additional money for adaptations to keep staff and students safe
16. As the government prepares for 4 million unemployed in 2021, Treasury Secretary Rishi Sunak said he would introduce âjob coachesâ, and said 4 million of us being coached for *up to* 2 hours to do jobs that donât exist would be âthe first time that people will realise government could be helpfulâ
17. A report found âtrust between ministers and staff is being severely erodedâ by a 7-month delay in the bullying inquiry into Home Secretary and horcrux, Priti Patel
She then made a speech in which she voluntarily opted to define herself as opposite to those who âdo goodâ
18. Possibly to distract from this, health minister Lord Bethell rushed out to claim Covid 19 would make us as proud as the Olympics
Covid 19 has killed about as many as you can fit into an Olympic Stadium, so maybe thatâs what he meant
A quick detour into the magical, spinning world of gaffe-hamster Lord Bethell: last week he tried to distract from govt student cockups by claiming Covid 19 was predominantly caused by âlate-night intimacyâ and not by, for example, failing to trace infections
Earlier, Bethell tried to distract from govt A-Level cockups by claiming him failing A-Levels didnât prevent him hustling to his lofty position (momentarily forgetting the hustling assistance he gained when his dad, the 4th Lord Bethell, hustled his way into a grave)
19. And finally, in an image that will haunt you, Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced he would only snitch on his neighbours if he was âwatching them having an Animal House-style hot tub partyâ. Watching. He said watching. Matt Hancock. Watching.â-Russ

Is it difficult teaching at both a public school and Catholic school?
There are challenges teaching at both a Public School and Catholic School! I am public school educated from Kindergarten to my Masters Degree so I am a huge advocate for public school. Â I am also paid, insured, and retirement packaged by the public school district, so loyalties tend to go more toward the public school arena.Â
The challenges of teaching at a Catholic School for me include issues like:
1. Â Money/Budget. Constant fundraising! Constant pandering to patrons and community members.
2. Oversight. Â The Public School has a ton of State Dept of Ed oversight for funding and testing purposes and the catholic school do as well to keep accreditation, but it seems like the Catholics spend more time jacking around during the school year. Â More parties, more free days, more time not in the classroom. Â Part of that is Mass. Â They go to church twice a week for and hour. Â thatâs a lot of classroom time. Â The parents want the church time though.
3. Entirely too involved parents.  What?!  Involved parents? why complain about that? There is a line that parents can cross to be VERY ANNOYING to teachers. Constant calls, emails, always in the school âvolunteeringâ, always nit-picking about every little damn thing going on with the school or childâs class.  Good Lord, Mom-Karen go get a job and leave your son alone for 6 hours!
4. Leadership. Â Maybe it is just my Catholic School, but the principal is also a preschool teacher. Â Sheâs not available right away for student issues. Â So if someone is having a nutty, she isnât around to be helpful or do the principal thing. Â There is a 2-3 day lag time in email response and plans are made sometimes by the seat of her pants. Â She also likes to make decisions by committee and not just making the decision as school leadership. So, if need an answer on something she just can't give me an answer...sheâs gotta ask a few people first.Â
5. Overworked teaching staff. Â This isnât really me because I am public school paid, but the Catholic School paid teachers are way overworked and way underpaid. They do their own Art Class, all the other subjects, Religion Class, have tons of recess duty, lunch duty, before school duty and after school duty, plan Mass Readings and Servers etc. TONS of extra duty that the public school teachers DONâT have to do.Â
6. Â Space. Â The building is too small and over 50 years old. Â we are out of space. It is too small for this era of education. We have no dedicated calm down room, I teach in the church basement across a parking lot, the library is on the old stage, no space for pull-out kids to have a quiet place to work with their specialist. The Public School District just had a bond issue in 2013 so I have a huge, beautiful room and at the Catholic School...a Church Basement.Â
7. Iâm not Catholic.  I really donât understand that âworldâ. I have studied Catholicism through the eyes of Music History, but I donât understand the pageantry, the ritual, the worship of Mary and the Saints, the rote prayers. Please understand,  Iâm not dissing the Faith at all.  Iâm not a cradle or converted Catholic and have no intention to be, so I get confused by the denomination in general.Â
8. Grades are not an A, B, C, D, F system, but instead an E, S+, S, S-, U system. This is Diocesan thing and not my schoolâs policy. It does shock the alumni when they go to the public middle school and all of a sudden eligibility for extracurricular activities and sports are a big shocker.  I have taken to tell students starting in 4th grade about what to expect with grades.  To the Catholic School the learning is what matters the most and that is commendable, but the âreal worldâ of education, especially in high school, letter grades can make or break a student.Â
Iâm sure there are more things I can say, but this is a fairly long list. Â On the POSTIVE Side...I do have alot of normal support from many of the families! There are some very sweet moms out there who really like the Music Teacher! While teaching in two worlds is frustrating, there are many sweet moments too!Â

1. Whoâs your celebrity crush?
I donât have celebrity crushes most of the time. I have people who I think are pretty and people that I admire, but I donât have any of them that I crush on. Alongside my favourite voice actors (seiyuu), Emma Watson would definitely be up there. Thereâs something about intelligence that makes a person far more appealing.
2. Are you single or taken?
As single as they come! I havenât even been in a relationship, and I donât really have any interests in getting into one!
3. Rant. Just do it.
Iâm nervous. Iâm doubting. I hate this feeling in me. I feel so out of place, so uncomfortable, and itâs eating me on the inside. I wish I had friends in real life. I really wish I did, but it feels like Iâm growing apart from everyone, and Iâm pushing them all away because I canât stand being reminded of my past, and I feel like every step I take is just a desperate attempt to get myself back on track, and Iâm trying to be proud of myself. I really am. But I have a hard time acknowledging anything that I do. I never feel like Iâm enough. I feel insufficient. I feel like Iâm just a statistic. I feel inferior yet superior at the same time. My self-image is warped. I feel like Iâm lying to myself and to others. It hurts. It hurts a lot, and I donât want people to know but I do at the same time. Itâs a pain unlike any other, and as much as I can say that I donât feel lonely, I feel like there should be people in my life that I can call my friends, and I want someone that I can mutually call my best friend without them saying that they are just my âgood friendâ. I want to know that I mean the upmost to a person without feeling Iâm burdening them. I want to be No. 1 at something.Â
I dream about chasing dreams like becoming a medical professional, but I continue to realize and face my shortcomings that would prove that Iâm not really fit for it. I want to do it, but quite frankly, Iâm too stupid.Â
I canât even articulate whatâs truly paining my mind. Itâs difficult. I donât know why my body and mind wants to destroy itself.
But sometimes, I think I fix myself better.
4. Do you think it's okay to separate the artist from the art?
Personally, Iâm one of those people who usually say no to this question. Now, if you have weird kinks or like pineapple on pizza, thatâs none of my business. I wonât hold it against you. However, I find it hard to separate when things are illegal or morally wrong.
Examples:
Net-juu no Susume was a really heartwarming anime, and it was one of my favourite anime that depicted a wholesome adult romance that unveiled many truths about the real world despite spending its time online, but I wouldâve never watched the anime if I would have known that the director was a Holocaust-denier. The rest of the staff? I donât know, but I felt extremely uncomfortable even reblogging content after I found out.
I was planning on watching Rurouni Kenshin, and to this day, I believe Iâm missing out, but I cannot support or condone or even watch a series that has a creator as wretched as Nobuhiro Watsuki. If you donât know, he was charged in February of 2017 for child pornography. He was fined 200,000 yen. It was a slap on the wrist. Even though Rurouni Kenshin wasnât a reflection on his person according to fans, I donât feel keen on watching a show created by such a man.
In regards to actors, this goes for them too. If they are not supportive of the LGBTQ community, if they are racist, if they have committed acts that are cannot be condoned, I wouldnât want to watch them or anything. Again, I have a hard time keeping track of whoâs actually clean in this world, and in Japan, there is a lot of covering up. It was recently revealed that a lot of Madhouse anime that people love were probably made at the expense of animators who are human beings.
5. How many accounts do you have?
I have a few.
@nsisbest385 - my main where I stockpile my music @natsspammityspamspamham - This one where I am really open and reblog everything that I want to reblog (no exceptions; if I donât even think about it, I just reblog) @natsthinkitythinkthinkthonk - used to be for inspirational stuff/writing, but now itâs mostly seiyuu stuff. I post things for their birthdays. I shouldâve made a separate account. @semitranslatedseiyuublog - Where I semi-translate stuff but mostly transfer seiyuu content from Reddit. @awkwardbsd - This account has more followers than all my other accounts combined. Itâs for awkward screenshots, memes, and other stuff surrounding the Bungou Stray Dogs universe. @dragontypepropaganda - I didnât tell anyone this existed until now. Iâm generally not on it. I just queue and leave.
6. How many pairs of shoes do you have?
Letâs see... uh... 1 for outside, 1 for exercise, 1 for my house slippers, 3 for orchestra that I never use, 2 dress shoes that I really never use, and Iâm supposed to get 1 pair of slippers for outside.
7. Opinion onâŠ
I donât think I can answer this.
8. How many accounts do you follow?
9. Favourite brand of clothing?
Iâve been wearing more Uniqlo lately, but my wardrobe has a lot of hand-me-downs despite being so sensitive tactile-wise.
10. Name a dog
Atticus (boy) and Haruko (girl)
11. What unusual talent do you have?
I can whistle. I havenât tried in a while, but I can put my feet behind my head.
12. Whatâs the most interesting school's gossip youâve ever heard?
Keep in mind, I was only in school until grade 9-10. One of my PE teachers Ms. Snow had really scary eyes. When she got mad at me (which is pretty frequent considering she didnât know who I was and kept calling me by other Asian peopleâs names because âwe look the sameâ), I swear her eyeballs would extend from her sockets a little. They looked like they were about to pop out of her head. My sister said that urban legend states that she once fell down the stairs and both eyeballs popped out. She put them back in and carried on.
13. Ever prank called a store?
I think I almost tried once until I got a scolding or something (wasnât even my parents).
14. Whatâs your coffee order?
Donât have one. I donât like coffee. Iâm generally open to tea.
15. Whatâs a question do you constantly get asked?
âHow are you?â I usually choose the easy route to answer to this question. I just say âgood thanksâ. You want the truth? I lie to myself.
âWhy did you leave school?â It was a living hell. I didnât feel safe. I was breaking down years ago. School nearly broke me, and if I stayed there any longer, I wouldâve died (not an exaggeration).
âWhat are your hobbies?â I usually just say music and watching cartoons* (anime). They usually ask what else, and I just stare blankly.
16. If you had to get a tattoo right now, what would you get and where?
I wouldnât want one.
17. Google the top song from the year you were born
Apparently, itâs How You Remind Me by *gasp* Nickelback.
18. Rant about your favourite musician
I seriously wish I was able to go to Sara Bareilleâs version of the Waitress. I wish I was able to see it on Broadway. Sheâs such a talented individual, and she deserves all the attention she gets.
19. Whatâs your favorite teacher youâve ever had?
All of my best teachers have been outside of school. I would say that my favourite teachers are my current bass teacher and my taekwondo master who has taught me for over a decade.
20. Describe your blog in 3-5 words
Fando(o)m, ranting, anime, seiyuu, random
21. Whatâs a conspiracy you believe in?
I believe aliens exist. I donât think it would be logical to assume that Earth is the only planet that has âintelligentâ (I say that very loosely) lifeforms.
âBut they donât have water or oxygenâ Bold of you to assume that said aliens would need such a thing. I would think they can adapt like humans and all that. I just think itâs dumb to close ourselves off to believing that there are people other than ourselves that exist in this wide and expanding universe.
22. If you could see any concert tonight what would you choose?
I would really want to see the Waitress. If that doesnât count, I would want to see some seiyuu singing live. It would depend. Hosoya doesnât sing much anymore, Maaya Sakamoto has a waitlist longer than my lifespan (I have no luck with lotteries), and Saori Hayami has the same issue. I would want to see Sphere live too, but I donât know all of their songs.
23. If you could break one of your bad habits which would you choose?
My depression... or my anxiety. Actually, those arenât habits. I guess the closest I will get is doubting myself and beating myself up.
24. Can you dance? Sing?
A strong no to both.
25. Whatâs something you canât stop buying?
Uh⊠I donât go out and buy anything. I donât make money so I donât buy. However, if I did, I would really want to treat myself to good food and anime stuff.
26. Crowds or small groups?
Small groups... obviously.
27. How long before a trip do you pack?
Depends on where. When it comes to the Philippines, weeks for the Balikbayan boxes and less than a week for my actual clothes (usually pack a ton of clothes because I sweat a lot and âweâre not doing laundry!â)
28. What celebrity would you rate a PERFECT 10?
I feel like I donât have a good grasp of the culture so I actually canât say anything about my favourite seiyuu. We donât even know if thatâs their true personality. However, I feel like my perfect 10s are Emma Watson and Robin Williams. They might not be my âcrushesâ, but they are perfect 10s.Â
29. What quote or inspirational setting do you think is bs?
âWhen you hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up!â Nah man, you just donât know what rock bottom looks like. Itâs gonna get worse.
âDonât fix what isnât broken!â All because you canât see whatâs wrong with it doesnât mean it isnât broken. Yeah, Iâm talking about the school system.
âPain makes you who you are. It makes you stronger.â I can say that my trauma gives me anxiety.
30. If you had to dye your hair an unnatural colour right now, what would you choose?
I go by âPurple Dinoâ online so Iâd have to say dark purple.
31. You can change one thing about your life right now. what are you changing?
I wish I could breathe properly. My allergies make it so hard for me to exist. It affects my breathing, sleep, dental care, and so much more. I think thatâs the one physical thing I would change.
32. How old do you get mistaken for?
Apparently, I look like Iâm in middle school even though Iâm almost a legal adult.
33. What do you think about a lot?
Anime, seiyuu, my own shortcomings.Â
34. Do you like your Hogwarts house or do you wish you were a different one?
I like Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. I havenât done my test in a while.Â
35. What does home mean to you?
Home is where you live. Itâs where the heart lives. Itâs where you feel safe, and itâs where you can take off the mask that you live in during the day. Itâs the place where I donât have to lie through my teeth. I can cry, I can laugh, I can scream, and I can finally be me.
36. What do you think youâd be arrested for?
I feel like I would be caught for pirating anime even if I donât profit off it.Â
37. Have you ever been called down to the principal's office?
Iâve been there, but I havenât been called down there because I really wasnât important in school.
38. Post a picture of the outfit you would choose if you could have any outfit you wanted
Probably a dark coloured hoodie with sweatpants. Thatâs my default during the winter anyway.
39. Describe your aesthetic
Tired dead eyes with existential dread and depression. Thatâs how I see myself.
40. Answer with one of your âschool memesâ (inside jokes you have with your class/grade) with no explanationÂ
Iâm not sure how to say this, but I was really not in the âright crowdâ at school, and I was never let into any of these things. I canât answer this, and it pains me just to read this because Iâm missing out on so much of my youth and âhigh school lifeâ.Â
Iâm tagging @caratheillustrious who reblogged the questions!

Everything picked up after the very first Dueling Club meeting. Professor Potter seemed even busier than before, and that was because he'd been made the new Deputy Headmaster of Hogwarts. And that particular revaluation was met with intense applause from all of the students. Because he'd quickly become everyone's favourite after the first term had begun and he'd proven himself.
The Monday after the first Dueling Club meeting, Headmaster Dippet stood and gave a long and tedious speech that was far too long to anyone's good, about how Dumbledore had other business to attend to and could not dedicate enough time to being the Deputy. Therefore, it was after some consideration and a vote by the staff, that Professor Potter take up Dumbledoire's former position. And Dumbledore was scarcely seen except in class after that.
Tom knew what it was truly about though. Having a member of your staff being investigated by law enforcement for nefarious actions toward not only students of your school, but also toward high-ranking families in the British community, would make Dippet look bad. Especially if he allowed Dumbledore to keep such a position of power. Therefore replacing Dumbledore was basically done to save his own hide and keep him in people's good graces.
Ever since then, Dumbledore hadn't been taking or giving points either. While curious, Tom could guess about what had happened. Still, Slytherin had a bet going around. Some thought he was trying to appear innocent while others were of the belief that he was no longer allowed to handle House points. Tom was among those who supported the latter claim, not that he would tell anyone. It might give some of them ideas. Ideas along the line of them being important to him in any way, which a negative.
Dumbledore having no power in the school was good enough for him though. And he was pleased with Professor Potter being the new Deputy Head, even if it meant that the man was far too busy to really do anything outside of classwork. But the man still managed to make everything work in the end, and Tom couldn't only admire him the more for it.
Lord Malfoy, according to Abraxas, was ecstatic. After all, Dumbledore had tipped off the Aurors and participated in the raiding of Malfoy Manor, even if it was done from afar. So seeing him crashing and burning was certainly something he reveled in. Tom was as equally pleased, but managed to appear unaffected most of the time. So as not to appear cocksure and ruin his image. It was especially important now to play the good boy because the investigation included him to an extent, so he had to be nice until the Aurors had all they needed.
While Dumbledore's drama was entertaining and was enough to keep people in line, Tom was focused more on others things at present. Specifically, the Animagus training he was about to take up. He'd discovered a way to keep a Mandrake leaf in his mouth without it falling out or him accidentally chewing it to pieces. Since Tom couldn't afford silence for a month straight, nor could he neglect to eat, he had to think up another method.
Which lead him to the thin piece of glamoured metal that he'd wrapped the leaf around. He then covered that in protective charms so it wouldn't get destroyed, and used a sticking charm to adhere it to one of his molars so it couldn't go anywhere. It didn't obstruct his speech too much, and he had finally gotten another skill of his under control. Said skill would work to trick others into thinking he was talking when he was actually using his mind only.
His Occlumency training had advanced even further over the holidays and he'd managed to finish his mind palace that was an imitation of Hogwarts. And with his strengthened control over his magic, he'd managed to perfect a little skill he'd cultivated when he was young. But instead of ordering animals to do whatever he wanted them to do, now he simply 'spoke' normally. All without opening his mouth. But his voice still came out anyway, and should he move his mouth, no one would notice the difference. At least none of the students would be smart enough to notice.
Tom felt so proud of himself. He wondered if Professor Potter would be amazed by this new undertaking. After all, how many people were capable of the same thing? This had to put him above his peers in the man's eyes. After all, Tom was the only student currently capable of a corporeal Patronus, and he would be training his Animagus ability soon, which would mean he and Potter would share advanced skills finally. Meaning Tom would be doing better than his fellow seventh years were, just like Professor Potter expected of him.
The N.E.W.T.s were coming upon them very quickly, and Tom had set aside more time for studying now that he didn't need to meditate so often. With a Patronus that was corporeal, and a mind palace, he would say that he'd done well for himself, and he could go back to dividing his attention between personal interests and studying for the end of the year exams. He was confident in his future test scores, since he'd managed twelve O.W.L.s when he was fifteen. Therefore, he should be able to get the same amount in N.E.W.T.s now that he knew better than before.
Many times Tom found himself reading through the book Professor Potter had lent him. He'd learned more about Salazar than any other book had managed to tell him and it was in equal parts amazing and disappointing.
None of the legends or myths surrounding the Slytherin name, were pleasant. Everyone basically 'new' what was the common belief about Slytherin and his views on everything. But in reality, they were very wrong. And it proved the only smart thing Professor Binns had ever said. Legends always held a grain of truth, but were mostly twisted by the victors to appear in their favour.
Since Slytherins had bad reputations, of course people would twist their image even further. And to think, serpents were used as symbols for healing in most societies, but in Magical Britain, they were considered no better than demons. And there were people willing to kill snakes just upon seeing them, simply because they were that prejudiced.
Salazar Slytherin was a cunning man who always thought many steps ahead, and not just for himself, but for the people he considered to be under his protection. Meaning the inhabitants of Hogwarts as a whole.
How the tale of the Founders morphed from four friends searching to protect magic and all it existed within, into three friends and an evil man who sought to control them, made no sense to Tom.
Though he could guess where it started. After all, Slytherin made very specific note of Godric's wife's younger sister and Salazar's son having a falling out which resulted in Godric jumping to conclusions and Salazar having to banish his own son from the castle because Gryffindor couldn't be objective and listen to both sides of the story first.
Which started the feud in a sense, because Godric never used his head in important matters and Salazar's family was forever affected because of it. And in the end, it was revealed the the younger sister had been in the wrong all along, but Godric had refused to apologise even when he'd learned he was wrong, because his ego was too massive to handle it. An that was what ultimately drove the SLytherins from Hogwarts because if a grown man couldn't be bothered to act like one in the end, they Salazar refused to associate with him any longer.
Drama was nowhere near as interesting as people made it seem. A fight over a pet snake had escalated into a feud that lasted centuries. Tom wished time-travel was possible so he could go back and smack everyone involved. He hated stupidity.
Professor Potter had started teaching the fourth years the Patronus Charm and had so casually mentioned that Tom was the only student currently who could perform it. And Tom found himself surrounded by Ravenclaws and a few Hufflepuffs, offering him things in return for assistance.
Many things could be said about the other Houses, but they were not idiots. They knew the best way to a Slytherin's heart was to give them something they wanted in return for services. Give and take was very important in the Slytherin Common Room. It was the basis for many interactions.
Tom found himself with many favours to call upon and even money. In exchange, he set aside one of his studying times a week to help the students out. And to his immense surprise, many of them had already started producing silvery mists.
If this wasn't proof that he was meant to teach, he didn't know what was.
A/N: Another chapter for everyone!Â
