God I remember how stoked and then terrified I was to see Howzer, every second the man's on screen I'm utterly terrified that he's going to get killed.

This place looks great, real vacation spot.

This is just a fantastic opening, watching this tiny ass group strategically take out basically everyone on this ship. It's nice to see Echo get a chance to shine too, their leadership skill gets underutilized sometimes but they are SO GOOD AT THIS.

Nemec and Fireball have amazing armor, I just love the look.

There goes our Random Imperial Dude, electrocuting himself to death. Where do they get these regular dudes that are totally willing to bite an electricity chip or whatever for the like one year old Empire?

If season 3 wants me to like Emerie they will have to work pretty hard at it after she helps torture Crosshair.

Hemlock is SO fucking creepy, but also Crosshair catches on quick to what's going on.

What a great second use of the highly emphasized "Wrong" though, completely different from the last season finale.

The squelching sound of the needle going in and seeing him twitching while Hemlock casually talks, god this is horrifying already, love how it manages to get worse next time we see him.

God though, what did Howzer go through to lose five of his men in prison? You would think they'd at least want to keep their potential test subjects alive, but maybe Hemlock only wants the Strongest ones.

GOD SEEING CROSSHAIR'S EYES ROLL BACK WHEN WE GO BACK TO HIM

Shout out to Emerie and this guard for double teaming the dumbass behavior of leaving one of his wrists loose AND putting a gun next to him like what did you think was going to happen?

Mention of the Hounds which I think we see one of in the trailer, excited to see Omega befriend a doggo that is supposed to kill

I know the implication is that Crosshair recognized another clone and that's why he didn't shoot Emerie but I like to think that it was because she reminded him in that moment of Tawni Ames.

God seeing him essentially give up his one chance at even trying to escape in order to send that message, he gave up everything for his batch, and for Omega, and he absolutely assumed that he would die in there after they took him back. I don't want to see Crosshair sacrifice anything else he has been through ENOUGH.

Hemlock and the toxin is creepy as hell too. I HATE THIS MAN. WORST CREATURE ALIVE.

stream of consciousness list of neat-looking animals many people dont seem to know about but should because they’re cool, i dont feel like stealing photos so you’re gonna have to look them up yourself:

pyjama catsharks: small, dark gray, stripy shark

leopard catsharks: like the pyjama catshark but light gray with dark spots

sea robins: fish, but with fingers. all the better to feel you (or the ocean floor) with.

bush dogs: lil brown short-legged wild canids native to south america, like little furry sausages

dholes: red wild canid native to central and south asia that would be the perfect base for a sparkledog, but is way underutilized in that area

red river hogs: funky lookin’ wild pig with elf ears from western and central aftica

numbats: a marsupial, looks like halfway between a thylacine and a rat

quolls: brown, mousy-faced marsupial with white spots

cuscus: category of possums that look more like weird animatronic toys than real living animals, not to be mistaken for couscous

japanese serows: little gray mountain antelopes. VERY fluffy.

snailfishes: big family of bottom-dwelling fishes that the blobfish belonged to, species vary in level of goopiness but many look very goopy

rainbow darters: small, colorful north american native fish that makes you wonder how the exotic tropical fish trade ever gained traction in north america when we’ve got these guys right here

pangolins: something between an anteater and a pinecone, found in africa and south/southeast asia

tawny frogmouths: big mouthed bird native to australia that always looks either totally unamused or like it’s trying to inhale your soul

lumpsuckers: lil round fishes with a single “sucker” on the bottom for attaching to rocks. the cutest thing you’ll ever see. called “dango fish” (ダンゴウオ) in japanese because they look like rice dough dumplings

chimaeras: order of fishes related to sharks, sometimes called rat fish or ghost sharks, that lives in deep water and has buckteeth. also huge eyes, a venomous spine, and a long thin tail.

silky anteaters: fuzzy arboreal anteaters

tree kangaroos: kangaroos, but arboreal, red, and cuddlier

longear sunfish: another colorful north american native fish, looks like a bluegill at a rave

all of viverridae (civets, genets, linsangs, binturongs): a whole family of woefully underrated mammals, often with some pretty wild coloration. each species looks like a different combination of a cat and a member of the raccoon family. please appreciate these more, im begging you

the results.... dun dun dun

((well, it's monday, and it looks like the results of the surveys are in. thank you all so much for taking the time to go through them, it means a lot and it will really help me. i'm not gonna go through every single minutia with you all but i did have some comments to make on the results. i better make this a read more link...))

((The most popular non-essential side character was... The Endermen! The monsters from the 4-part story starring Miniata and Rythian. followed closely by the Cardboard Mayor and Israphel, who has thus far failed to make an in-story appearance. pretty interesting, fellas.

now something that was interesting to me was that the characters who are, ostensibly, the “main” heroes of the story (Tawny, Sipsman, Sjinergy, and Khaz Modan) were, barring Sjinergy to an extent, pretty unpopular with you. That's not to say no one likes them, but out of almost 300 votes, Sips and Tawny only received 7 and 8 votes respectively. Khaz has 2, and i have a feeling he was probably voted on in a batch of favorites and was no one's sole favorite. Blowing the other heroes completely out of the water, and i feel like i probably shouldn't even be surprised really but here i am being surprised, are the "misfits", Rythian, Zoey, and Nilesy. Rythian has a mindblowing 35 votes for favorite character! That's 10 more than the second favorite character, Lying.

This is why this data is so useful to me. the people i considered the "main" characters are completely sidelined by the "supporting" characters. this is not entirely unusual data, as in most stories, your favorite character is probably the villain, right? or the best friend? for instance my favorite star wars character is Darth Vader, and my favorite Lord of the Rings character is Sam. we all know why these characters are more popular usually. the heroes tend to be pretty archetypal in their personalities. you see one hero and you've seen them all. but it's the villains and side characters that tend to have more complex, interesting plots and motivations, because the plot can get away with them doing crazy, interesting things (but the plot always calls for the hero to win at the end? yawwwwn). but what is unusual to me is i now have some hard numbers here telling me that these characters are vastly more popular. it's like a wake-up call.

i mentioned you guys could comment or send me asks explaining yourselves if you really felt like telling me, but now i'm genuinely curious and would really like some feedback (cuz i got none lmao): why'd you pick your favorite character (especially if theyre one of the top 10)? was it because they have the most interesting backstory and plot? was it because they have your favorite visual design (lying <<)? was it because their superpower is your favorite? was it because their youtube counterpart is your favorite? let me know!

the top 3 villains are Lying, LAL, and KD, though if we don't count LAL who goes both ways, the next ones are Will and X. this is slightly surprising to me only because KD scores so high when he has very little comic screen time and was voted 4th most underdeveloped character. i'm thinking there might be a bit of overlap there, people who probably are big fans of KD in general and are looking to see him have a stronger character in Ask Superyogs. DoG scored unsurprisingly lower that most villains, and i won't go into the politics of his IRL persona but i'm pretty sure it's a factor, same with a few other choice characters.

Now, there is one thing that is almost unanimous: Rythian is the most popular character, and also the most strongly developed according to you all. (DoG received 0 votes for underdeveloped but is quite a bit less popular). it sounds like I have completely nailed Rythian, is that right? I hope so! 

for the other characters voted underdeveloped though, the highest votes are for Nilesy, Will, Kim, Lying, KD, and.... Israphel?! it sounds like some people are antsy to see Israphel already. as for the others, i can see why you would consider some of them undeveloped, hell, i said myself that Kim is one of the most underdeveloped characters in the series, with minimal screen time and almost no on-screen usages of flux powers. but i wonder, why do you feel Nilesy, Will or Lying are underdeveloped? Will has the 2nd highest amount of votes but he has one of the most spelled-out backstories and motivations in the comic (angel banished from aether, came back and murdered them and gained their power. now is the richest person in the world and mentors a blood mage protege). do you guys feel like he's more underutilized, than underdeveloped? do you just really want to see him be a badass? i'm serious, let me know what you think.

some other interesting tidbits: HAT trio is extremely unpopular, with only Smiffy getting more than 5 votes (Trott has 2)... however Trott is considered 7th most undeveloped character in the comic. Will (6th most popular) had the 2nd most votes for undeveloped, but Parv (8th most popular) has 4 votes for undeveloped, 4th from last place. so most people are pretty happy with Parv's portrayal so far it looks like. the character i thought would be least likely to receive votes but did: DoG's unseen mayoral aides (1 vote), and the one i thought would never get as many votes as they did: Convenience Store Clerk that Looks Kinda Like Markiplier Kinda. The character I thought wouldn't be anywhere near the top 3 but is in 3rd place most popular: Nilesy! and he also received the most votes for being underdeveloped.

maybe this all seems pointless to you, or maybe it seems like i'm being overbearing by asking you to go through all this trouble, but think about it. i'm comin back to Ask Superyogs cold turkey after two years. a lot of things change in two years. i'm 100% certain some of you are probably starting your adult lives now after spending a solid chunk of your life following Ask Superyogs. you know what's barely changed in 2 years? me, and my taste and sensibilities. so this information and your feedback will be vitally important in helping me get on the right track for Ask Superyogs. If i started out with 7 comics starring Xephos the Dog and Mandrew without doing these surveys, well, now we have the numbers to imagine how that would end up. these results don't mean it's going to be rebranded as “Rythian and the Ask Superyogs Chums”, or that Will and Nilesy are going to get huge soul-searching plots that span for weeks, but it gives me a good outline of where i should go and where i should start.
