while it's been a few months now and I've definitely been typing a lot, am also definitely still getting used to the keyboard on my thinkpad a little (i accidentally hit the numlock key a lot when trying to backspace lol) —

one thing i didn't realize got so hammered into me is that i keep forgetting i can... use capslock......... to type all caps...?? i got so used to the capslock key on my old shitty laptop being busted i'm too accustomed to just holding shift down and hurting myself LOL

#i also had to disable the pgup and pgdn keys because the compactness of the arrow key layout meant i was hitting them a LOT #so i just turned them off completely with power toys #i've definitely gotten better about avoiding the trackpoint while typing though.... hardly bump it at all now #nadia rambles #i really do like this computer a lot more. it does have some quirks but overall it's clearly a lot more solid and runs way cooler #i need to get some canned air for future use though but i'm more confident in this thing's longevity #especially since a large number of parts are user serviceable so i should be able to actually repair it as time passes #instead of contacting two (2) different computer repair places and being ghosted because no one likes to repair Acer laptops #turns out making keyboard replacement require replacing the entire top deck is like. bad for repairability.#also turns out i really like having mouse buttons on my trackpad lol........... being able to right click instead of ctrl click #is really nice for me since i have weird pinky joints so not having to hit ctrl is really useful #and yes i did swap ctrl and fn.... i'm sorry.... i just can't do it... i've been using ctrl to the left of fn for at least a decade #i have had word crash more often on this computer for some reason but i think it's to do with windows #because the version of windows 11 and by extension word 2019 on this laptop is slightly newer so some things are different #and i do not doubt that windows or this build of word may be shittier than what was on my acer #i also have some lag in CSP but i think this is from having 10+ files open at once #other than that it is clearly *running* the program better — less hot when i draw for example #and my massive word docs load a little bit faster #i can watch twitch streams live — it still gets warm but it doesn't freeze my browser #OCCASIONALLY a tumblr video freezes my browser but i think this is a tumblr + firefox bug 'cause it also happens on mobile #where i use the mobile firefox shortcut instead of the app #i'm sure there's probably some windows or lenovo background processes that may also cause some small problems but like #overall it's still a step up big time AND i can have sleep enabled as long as i disable hibernation and my laptop wakes up normally #instead of lagging for 30 minutes #i had hibernation off on my acer but it still struggled for some reason so i wouldn't be shocked if it was somehow still hibernating #this one seems fine so far. only problem is the lid sensor but it's refurb and i think the display was replaced and it doesn't actually #like impact the computer's function at all since it will still sleep after xyz time if i forget to put it to sleep
