I'm not usually a "anti-ai people are insufferable reactionaries" poster, as I myself do not like AI.

But wow, this post sure is insufferable and reactionary.

"Oh no, you can't have ChatGPT write your emails because it's a plagiarism machine!!!"

Who out there actually cares about their emails being potentially plagiarized by someone else? Even if this hypothetical person existed I still wouldn't care. That shit just doesn't matter.

And then the proposed solution to struggling to write formal emails is "just look up templates" like??? How is that any less plagiarism than ChatGPT? If you are advising people to use templates, it's almost like you know that emails like this aren't a personal expression of anything and instead largely formulaic social rituals that most people want to avoid doing.

Emails are mostly slop; it's the perfect thing to use the slop generation machine for.
