Tenfold by @dgalerab Maaaybe my fav bsd fic to this day. It just fucked me up really good and made me feel things I'd pay to experience again. The fic is part of a series but can be read as standalone. I do recommend reading the whole series (even if you're not convinced at first) because it sets up concepts and situations that hit harder in Tenfold if you know about them first, but if you're not up to it it's not necessary. DO READ THE TAGS ON THIS ONE they're not fucking around. I'm serious.

keep you alive, set you on fire by @orbitalflyby Case fic where Dazai and Chuuya are on opposite sides, and Dazai is in a dress. Nsfw. It has slow dancing, flirting, much sexual tension!! Definitely a fic I'd love to draw for if god assists me

i know yall like to fight over who tops and bottoms in soukoku and while i think they switch im ngl topzai and bottom chuu is my fav. like you’re telling me that dazai (someone who’s entire life is built on deep rooted psychological control towards himself and others) would be the first to bottom?? 😔 even if he was bottoming and enjoying it, he’d have a hard time dropping the performative aspect because it’s such a deeply vulnerable situation to be in, which is a one of those things that would send his guard up immediately. instinctively, he’d try to find a way to control the situation as much as possible, even if he was bottoming and taking pleasure in the physical feeling. for him, his whole personality is so rooted in power dynamics and manipulation as a way to protect himself.

when it all comes together, i truly see him more authentically as a top. i know we all love the bratty bottomzai narrative as well, but i guarantee you that dazai knows full well what he’s doing when he’s acting like a brat. even if it looks like he’s acting submissive, he’s the one pulling the strings. he knows he pushes buttons and it’s all done intentionally for the sake of his control. that’s why i don’t see bottomzai as my go-to dynamic- it just would feel much too performative to dazai’s character and personality. moreover, i do not think of chuuya as a feminine character, especially personality wise. so that’s absolutely not why i see him as a bottom in soukoku. in fact i would argue that his personality is even more masculine than dazai’s. i would say that chuuya is way more physically dominant than dazai. with a woman, or with someone else, i’m sure he’d dom the fuck out of them, no questions asked. but dazai is different. dazai can read chuuya, and knows exactly where to push to strip him of his usual mental dominance. this applies both sexually and non sexually. we all know that soukoku’s entire relationship is all built off of power games. in such situations, emotionally, chuuya’s the submissive, you know? chuuya falls for dazai’s calculated teasing time and time again. back to his physical appearance, it’s the same thing with his height- it plays no roll in how i think their sexual dynamic would work. however, it’s clear that he’s someone who uncontrollably feels- someone’s who’s heart leads and his body follows. unlike dazai, who controls himself to the point that he doesn’t feel, and uses that to get under people’s skin.

we all know how deeply chuuya just… feels. we see time and time again how quick he is to react, and a lot of his lashing out that we see in the show is a direct emotional response to how intensely he feels things and takes them to heart. he’s brash, assertive, and needs control too- we know that. he’s not sensitive, just emotional. we all know how loyal and trusting he is at heart. we also know that chuuya has some major walls up as well- you don’t go through all that abandonment trauma unscathed, but he’s still able to feel without such an extreme wall guarding him from cutting out vulnerability all together, which is why i always imagine this dynamic. all together, chuuya has his control problems too, but in the case of such a private and intimate situation and factoring in the complex relationship that is soukoku, i believe he’d be the first to be okay with not being the top, you know? i could see chuuya being blindly led by his emotions, straight into bottoming for dazai. even if he’d rather top, chuuya would be able to get into bottoming. it would be far of a less superficial experience than if it was dazai under him. if chuuya was bottoming, he’d bottom hard and with emotion. think about it- in the show, dazai’s usually wearing the same expression, no matter the situation around him. he controls himself so damn well in every sense, where chuuya is expressive. it would be much easier to get chuuya to really moan than dazai. stripping chuuya of control would make him deeply uncomfortable at first, but he’s someone with the ability to adapt to what he feels- especially if strong feelings are involved. and we know they are. we see him get abandoned time and time again, yet he’s still capable of trust and loyalty. no matter who it was, if he has feelings for someone, he has feelings, and likely they’re intense. he’s reactive and receptive to them, unlike dazai.

i personally could totally see this dynamic as power bottom/prideful chuuya riding dazai who’s trying his best to keep up his performative/composed act under chuuya, trying to make jokes and throw out nonchalant teasing to cope with the fact that he’s struggling a little because it feels really good… ;) dazai continuing to verbally hit where it provokes, emotional control turned to the max! oh, and their abilities. dazai literally tames nullifies chuuya. hmm. but anyway. like i said, i think they’d probably switch. this is just my opinion as someone who has a lot of the same problems as dazai and can also only bottom performatively </3 like dazai bro ik how it feels and i myself have been in many situations and relationships where our sexual dynamics haven’t worked out bc. like i said. performative isn’t authentic to deep rooted personality traits and unfortunately sometimes it shows. hello! first of all, i want to point out that the way you write skk’s dynamic is spot on and fantastic. you always leave me thirsty for more. and speaking of thirst, i was just reading your smut collection (specifically those fics of bottomzai) — again, fucking amazing — but it got me thinking:

are you willing to write bottom chuuya? would you be comfortable doing it? if so, i’d be more than happy to read it. i think it would be pretty interesting how you come up with ways to display such vulnerability and trust coming from him, and to see how caring and comforting actions (and i’ll bet teasing) come from dazai. because don’t get me wrong, i love when chuuya takes care of dazai in your fics, but i would love to see the tables change for a bit (in bed).

Hi, @paulycole! Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm so glad that you've enjoyed my fics <33 I'm afraid I don't really write much smut anymore! I didn't think I was very good at it, and it's really not something I'm always up for writing. I wouldn't be uncomfortable writing bottom chuuya, but smut as a whole just isn't something that I enjoy creating. My favorite bits are always the more intimate parts, and so the actual smut always feels lacking or sub-par in comparison to many other writers in the fandom. I will definitely keep all of your comments in mind about giving Chuuya some vulnerable moments though, and if I ever do decide to write some smut again, I'll consider switching up their dynamic <3 I hope you'll stick around for the rest of my writing~

( I love that you guys talk to me on here about things from bluesky hsdhgh it always makes me smile) That one is not really an au, but more a scenario exploring one of my headcanons regarding Dazai, aka how he would use sex to lure in targets or gather information (the same way he does by getting kidnapped/tortured, yes I'm a whump lover can you TELL) So in that art's case it was simply about a mission where Dazai planned to lure in their target (at the opera, because I like drawing fancy things sdfhdshg), waiting for Chuuya to then take the chance and swoop in. I imagined this would be a strategy like the many others they have!

I def know what you mean ahah I usually don't really go for fixed dynamics nowadays, tho I always have preferences. In Dazai's case I think he can be a switch, even just out of necessity, but I will always have a strong bottomzai preference. That tends to happen with my fav charas and especially Dazai's type, I have nothing to say for myself
