I'm watching the Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees game, and they showed this fist sculpture. I'd never seen it so I looked it up. It's called the Joe Louis Fist sculpture, and it hangs near Hart Plaza in downtown Detroit. It symbolizes the power of the legendary boxer, Joe Louis, and it's a statement against racial injustice and Joe Louis' efforts to fight the Jim Crow Laws. I love this sculpture!! I love Joe Louis, and I respect his fight for equality for all men and women!! It's a magnificent sculpture!!! 😁😍

Fun Story to Share.

I got my (now 18-year-old) daughter into Ao3 back in 2021. I taught her she should always comment - even if the fic looks old or abandoned or whatever. She did.

Well - she got this email this morning:

The fic was written in 2014 and essentially abandoned.

Bethy read and reviewed in 2021 (and was actually the only person who had commented at all).

Today in 2025 - the final chapter was posted by the author and this was her reply to Bethy’s comment.

kids these days are like “i need chat gpt to write an essay that would normally take 12 hours in 2” but back in my day i did that all the time by using a little technique called “writing some absolute bullshit.” and yet i still walked away with a better essay and more critical thinking skills than i would get if i used chatgpt. write a bad essay that you started on the day it was due, but write it yourself.
