Why is no one talking about this?

When Amanda is feeling down she starts saying that “There’s nobody who will understand”

Wooly overhears her and says “I understand Amanda”

to which Amanda replies “You like to think that wouldn’t you?”

Amanda doesn't think Wooly understands her, she thinks he doesn't understand the feeling of emptiness or being trapped and wanting to get out, which, at first glance, may seem true.

So far Wooly hasn't made a significant effort to leave the show (at least that we've seen) and the weirdest thing he's done so far is: asking if we trust him and that no matter what we do, we shouldn't- (because Amanda won't let him finish).

I like @cherry-casino and @kingmaxstatic interpretation:

• That Wooly is scared of what would happen if they tried to escape, if trying to get help in the long run brings more pain for both of them then it's not worth it.

• Not only that but by distracting himself from the pain, repressing perhaps the sadness and anger of being trapped, playing with Hamelin so that maybe they both have a small chance of being let out.

That's where I think the problem between the two occurs, Amanda doesn't trust Wooly because she thinks he wants to keep her trapped (and probably Wooly did something else to piss her off) but that is not the case, he just doesn’t want more pain for them and that’s why Amanda and Wooly doesn’t seem to get along well, they have a conflict about how to handle the situation.

-(This is a side note but maybe that's why Wooly's monster is bigger??? Maybe all the emotions that Wooly represses go towards the monster and that's why it's stronger? I don't know)
