Amy Schumer Says ‘I Want Peace’ As She Addresses Backlash For Multiple Posts Deemed As ‘Islamophobic’ & Openly Standing Against A Ceasefire In Israel-Hamas War

Comedian Amy Schumer is being slammed online by social media users over her questionable uploads.

In her statement, Amy Schumer explained that she intends to advocate for freedom for all victims of the Israeli-identified terrorist group Hamas. She wrote:

“Couple things. What I want is EVERY HOSTAGE BACK I want safety and freedom from Hamas for Palestinians  and Israelis. I want safety for Jewish people and Muslims as well. Everyone. Just like you. I want peace.”

Adding:

“You will never see me wishing harm on anyone. Saying I’m Islamophobic or that I like genocide is crazy…We are all in a lot of pain. What hurts the most is that we all actually love each other. You hate Jews. You don’t know why. I still love you.”

The 42-year-old’s remarks come as she trends online due to the backlash she’s receiving over several posts she’s made that, to many, have vilified Palestinians. For one, Schumer – a Jewish American – took a hard stance in support of Israel’s continual bombing of the Gaza strip, which has reportedly killed more than 8,000 innocent Palestinian civilians to date. If you recall, the “Train-wreck” star was among the many celebs who signed an open letter to President Joe Biden, urging him to continue to back Israel until Hamas released their hostages.

Schumer justified her stance in many of her social media posts, arguing that a ceasefire would only give Hamas time to regroup and launch more deadly attacks on Israelis. Presently, the casualties of innocent citizens of Israel are reportedly around 1,400, with another nearly 200 taken as hostages. In one post, the actress attempted to further justify her beliefs with a clip of late civil rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., voicing his support of Jews in the face of antisemitism.

However, his daughter and legacy activist Dr. Bernice King responded to Schumer’s post with a personal correction of how she believes her father would view the current Israel/Gaza situation. She wrote:

“Amy: Certainly, my father was against antisemitism, as am I. He also believed militarism (along with racism and poverty) to be among the interconnected Triple Evils. I am certain he would call for Israel’s bombing of Palestinians to cease, for hostages to be released…”

Actress Asia Jackson also chimed into the conversation with an alleged DM she received from Schumer. The actress criticized the comic’s rhetoric in a recent post, writing:

“It’s so crazy to me how Bella & Gigi had to tiptoe around their statements and then Amy Schumer is like “Gazans are rapists” and will still have a career”

To which Schumer responded:

“Did something I post about my people being massacred upset you?”

When Jackson replied that the movie star’s “islamophobia and generalization of Gazan people” did offend her, Schumer responded:

“Really sorry about that” 

Adding in a lengthy follow-up message:

“People all over the world are in the streets yelling for the murder of my people. You are not educated about the history of the Jewish people and of the conflict…I think you are antisemitic. Do you have any Jewish friends? If you do they are all scared right now. Frightened for their children for their lives…I’m hoping someone doesn’t slit my sons throat at school like they’ve been threatening to do and posting pictures of my house.”

Despite vehemently denying the notion that she’s “Islamophobic” in her statement, Schumerand Jackon’s conversation drew even more criticism for the comedian. Many spoke to Schumer’s insensitivity in attempting to lecture a woman of Asian and Black descent about feeling safe in the US. Others felt like the dialogue flat-out exposed the jokester’s hidden racism.

The original tweet I got this from says via 2024Blockout. I couldn't find the @ on Twitter so it's likely a TikTok account.

The goal is to block any major celebrity who hasn't spoken up about Gaza in order to cut off their means of making money off of us. If their videos and ads don't appear on our TLs and FYPs, that means no revenue for them. There's some videos going around explaining this campaign in depth better which I'll post later on, but I'm liking the idea and blocking whoever I can on Twitter and IG since I don't have TikTok.
