Today on Persona 5 Scramble:
Yusuke verbally eviscerates a man in the middle of his own party.
And it’s awesome.
But first, Alice’s confession.
Turns out that talking down a Shadow absolutely definitely works. We didn’t steal anything from Alice, and she still went on live TV and apologized. I’m sure that the severity of the distortion probably has something to do with how successful that is. I doubt we could have talked down Shido; he was too far gone. But it’s possible. And the Thieves actually get a moment of wondering what’s going to happen to Alice. The briefest of moments considering the consequences of changing a heart. Her career is probably gone for good.
And then Zenkichi walks in. Kids, maybe lock the door when you’re having a Thief Meeting?
Tumblr media
...sir, this is not how you endear yourself to the kids.
Zenkichi reveals that changes of heart are happening all over the country. Which throws a bit of a wrench in things. Alice’s confession wasn’t enough to clear our names, even though there’s no way that we could be causing incidents everywhere when we’ve been in Tokyo. Hell, Akira wasn’t even back until a week ago. And yet, the police do not care.
Tumblr media
Try it, sir. These kids will fight like hell to protect one of their own.
He’s offering a deal: not getting arrested in exchange for help tracking down the true culprit. Which, honestly at least some of the PT are probably having war flashbacks, because that’s how Goro joined the team, just with the added zing of blackmail. We don’t really have a choice now, either, though, even if there’s no overt coercion.
The PT come to the conclusion that the only way Zenkichi’s’ going to believe them about what’s going on is to show him what’s left of the Shibuya Jail. They try to explain on the way over, but...
Tumblr media
Look, sir, you asked. It’s your fault for having no idea what you were getting into. How did you think the Thieves work?
Shoutout to Zenkichi’s VA here, because he is absolutely killing it on the Jail reveal. He gets all squeaky and frantic. It’s great.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He calms down eventually, and Makoto reiterates that now that he’s aware of Morgana talking in the metaverse, he can understand him in the real world, too. Which just reinforces my theory that Goro saw them at some point in Madarame’s Palace or Mementos.
Zenkichi promises to get them info from Alice, and apparently we are off to Sapporo to get... someone. Zenkichi didn’t name names, but apparently they won’t even be in the country for at least another week. The kids decide that this isn’t just a trip to clear their names; it’s their job to help people who are suffering from the effects of changes of heart.
And I might rag on the PT sometimes, but in the end, there’s no denying that they’re a solid squad. Akira loves his friends.
Tumblr media
Sojiro borrows a camper for us so we can go on our cross-country adventure to find more Jails, and he’s not worried about us beyond normal “Are you going to be okay on your own?” Meanwhile...
Tumblr media
Sir, you are not our parent, you have not been formally adopted into the group, we are practically family, and you need to be quiet.
I wish I could drive the bus.
After the kids leave on the roadtrip, we get a scene of Zenkichi talking to his boss about the progress he’s making. Apparently he’s “undercover”. Sure thing, dude. His boss does warn him not to get attached, because our arrests are inevitable? So much for his promise, then. He claims he hasn’t been attached to anything in a long time, which basically means he’s gonna get attached. XDDD
I don’t think he’s a bad person? But once again, here’s a dumb adult trying to use us. Literally. At least this one is honest about it. “Don’t take it personally, Phantom Thieves. All I want is for this case to be solved... and I’ll use you however I have to.” Do you really think we’re stupid enough to not see directly through you?? At least he knows that if he tried to explain the Jail to his boss, it would go badly. X’D
The Thieves have pulled over in Sendai because Sophia detected a Jail. I dunno who this woman is, but something about her feels familiar and I don’t know why. Do I know an Ichinose...?
Tumblr media
*
Dude, Atlus seriously sat down in the writers room like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
God. Jesus. That’s a fucking first impression. You arrogant fuck. The one really good thing about this scene is that we get the boys getting to be super-protective. I know I’m a Shuakeshu shipper first, but Haru is my wife of choice, and RyujixHaru is underrated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Fight me, bastard. I’ve punched much stronger people than you.”
The amount of times so far in this game where someone has made a comment or picked a fight and my first response is to remind them (as if they can hear me) that I shot God is...a lot of times. Seriously. You don’t want to pick a fight with this guy, and he can take care of himself.
Natsume’s Jail is all gothic-inspired stuff, which I should have guessed based on “Prince of Nightmares”. XD But to get into the Jail, we had to crash a party, so I will leave you with Yusuke absolutely destroying this man before we even set foot in his heart, because he decided to comment on the Sayuri.

A Bouquet Instead of a Goodbye
fixed up one of my fics
Akechi Goro’s body was eventually found, it was tucked away in some bush near the diet building. His eyes wide, broken, and very very dead. A proper autopsy showed a bullet hole on his forehead and a matching exit hole at the back of his head. There were also small cuts and bruises all over his body, their origin unknown. Some speculate that the detective was held hostage and eventually killed due to the lack of cooperation from the police department. Others said that it was from an old grudge from a case he did long ago. A situation like these happens in movies all the time. Who's to say it can’t happen in real life.
The one who found him was an ordinary gardener, the bush was growing wild and it was about the time to trim it. Based on the news the gardener ran all the way to the police station unable to utter a word and completely forgetting about the phone in his pocket, dragging the poor rookie all the way to the body. It was said by some sources that the young man almost threw up on the dead body.
The world mourned before they started pointing fingers because that’s what society does best. But the search for the culprit ended as soon as it started. His father, the disgraced politician  who had abandoned his son long before his birth, has admitted in prison that he had plans of killing him. The news ate it up.
Akira found out from the comfort of his home, watching the evening news as he brushed Morgana’s hair. He could only stare at the dead body on the screen as his phone rang beside him. The news censoring the blood and gore as an announcer talked about Akechi. Later announcing that there would be a short thirty minutes special celebrating the life and accomplishment of Goro Akechi coming soon. There will also be a live funeral for him, his remains would be going under Shido’s family tomb for the sake of tradition. No one cared over the fact that it was Shido who ruined the young man’s life and set him up for a path of self destruction and ruins. And the fact that Akechi would most likely protest. But no one heard him, he’s dead after, and the dead don’t speak.
He can feel Morgana’s paws clawing at his shirt trying to get his attention, his phone just as whiny as his feline friend was also going off. Akira let out a sigh, reaching towards the remote and turning off the television with a small ‘click’ from the power button. He ignored Morgana’s questions of ‘Are you ok’ and the constant calls and messages from his friends. He stood up and brushed off any lingering cat hair that stuck to his pants and legs making a mental note of vacuuming sometime later before he get in trouble with his parents and head to his room.
He needs to do some research.
Akira has never attended a funeral before, he’s been invited to a few sometime during elementary and middle school but he never went. He wondered if his sister in heaven hates him for never going to hers. Akira also wonders what Akechi would think when he told Morgana and everyone else that he has no plan of turning into Akechi’s public funeral or when he decline the invitation Sae-san send him through email an hour after.
That funeral is for the detective prince, a mask that Akechi wore in order to feel some semblance of love. But in the end that love was too distant for the dead man. Akira can see it right now, thousands of young girls watching as the black car pass by as they cry, some holding on to their handkerchief while others scream their confession out loud for the world but not Akechi to hear. Akira feels that he would not be able to stand going to a funeral like that. From what he heard, Haru and Futaba also decline going to the event. He hasn't heard from everybody else but he suspects that Ryuji might skip as well.
He let out another tired sigh as he stared at his old laptop screen, he still had things to do. But at this rate he’ll be up all night. Akira can hear the rant Morgana have in store for him later but maybe if he play his card right he should be able to stay up late. He later watched Morgana eat his fatty tuna, his wallet clutch in his hand. His wallet was looking slightly lonelier but at least he got what he want.
A week passed and life went on as usual. The public forgot about the incident until the funeral where the name Akechi Goro is once again trending on the net. On the day of the funeral Akira left the house at five am, making sure to leave a note behind for Morgana to read. No need to leave anything for his parents.
The walk from his house to the train station was long but he was unsure if the bus even operate at this time and like hell is he going to leave his bike near the station. Even in the city there are times where the train comes few and the buses fewer so he can’t really complain about it being just a ‘countryside problem’. He have no choice but to take the long route.
It gave him even more time to reflect. Since he’s been back in his sleepy hometime that’s all he can do without being given a strange glance or an ugly look. Everything was quiet in his hometown even during the afternoon where everyone would be out of school and shopping around but it would still be quiet, no sound this town could make would ever compare to the Shibuya crossing and for some reason it irks him. Which led to a new habit of wearing headphones around his neck in case things get too quiet around, of course another good substitute is Morgana who enjoys chatting about the things he sees or other small topics that he demands Akira pay attention to.
By the time he made it to the train station the sky had turned from a murky blue to a bright and sunny one. The train station was empty save for the workers and a few people in suits. It was still early after all. Had Akira decided to leave the house two hours later the station would be filled with people and many more inside the train. He did not want to be seen today. Akira checked his phone to look at the time. He still have another two hours before he reaches Shibuya, still a lot of time to spare. It was probably best to check the group chat before the rest of the gang do something stupid.
Akira:
I’m alright guys don’t worry
The replies he got were all the same asking if he was really alright and if he need someone to come over. He’s been offline for days and now that he gets a good look at his notification he can see that his messaging app has over a few hundred unread messages.
He softly smiled, the feeling of warmth covering his chest. He loved his friends. They cared for him more than anyone else in his life and he will do anything for them.
Akira:
I’m sorry for not answering all you calls
And texts. My family has been busy.
He added a cute frowny emoji for good measure.
Akira:
I won’t be online for the rest of the day
Sorry! Talk to you all later
He felt bad lying to his friends. But today he’s on a solo mission. He doesn’t want anyone else to be with him. He hopes they can understand. Akira slips his headphones back on and lean back in his seat, his hand reaching out and pulling the blinds so they fully cover the window and for the rising sun light stays out of his eyes. His destination is still a long way. A quick nap before then couldn’t hurt.
===
The news mentioned him once today. It was more of a passing comment from a news channel that barely talked about him when he was alive treats him just the same dead. The big screen on the building creates white noise behind the already loud Shibuya. He knows he shouldn’t dawdle, who knows how everyone will react if he takes too long to answer back. He doesn't want to worry them ever again.
An aggravated sigh escaped his lips. Today is not about him. He shouldn’t be selfish today of all days. He needs to quickly transfer trains before someone spots him and distracts him from his task.
He reaches into his pocket expecting his train pass to be in there, he doesn't have any money in the card at the moment but it should make entering and leaving the station much easier as soon as he refills it.
And his pocket is empty.
Guess in the end he has to buy a ticket. Yippie.
Putting paying extra aside-he still have some metaverse money that he split evenly between the team long after their last heist and a short while before his departure. In the end everyone received a good amount of cash and after a long lecture from Makoto went mostly to saving so wasting five hundred yen for a round trip shouldn't hurt his bank account at all.
The train in Shibuya is much busier than the one he took from his hometown. He scoffs, Of course it’s busier everyone here is always busy doing their own thing and living their own lives. It was almost disturbing to see how quickly city folks move from one topic to another especially after seeing the public’s one track mind on the Phantom thieves and Akechi but that was all due to the influence of the false God. Now that everyone is free, everything went back to the same boring way it was before.
The city charm has long died out somewhere along his journey. But it was better than the countryside for sure, as a third year he now have to worry about college and future plans. Whatever it is he hopes he can do it by his friends’ side and not alone.
There was a soft melody on the overhead, that must be his train. He stepped aside as the people leaving rushed out, and as soon as the last person exited he made his move. He quickly glanced around the cart, there’s no empty seats how unlucky considering he’ll have to stand for another thirty minutes . The train was filled with sleeping salarymen and bored elderly. He knows he’s not getting a seat anytime soon. He pulled out his phone and opened the music app. He never liked the waiting game but hopefully music can make time go by faster.
-
Akira also dislikes being squeezed to the point he can feel his ribs but being in Tokyo comes with a price. The train was not that packed compared to the early morning rush that he dealt with every morning for the past year. But not being able to pull out his phone to change the song, has made the trip much longer than expected, when Akira pushed his way out of the train he let out a huge sigh in relief. It was a good thing he decided to buy the supplies on this stop, the last thing he need is to feel the glares of fellow passengers over spilt water and crushed petals all over someone’s over expensive suit.
A sponge, a small box of incense, small candles along with two canned coffee . He ignored the sad look the cashier passed him as she was ringing him up. Did he have everything he needed? He thinks he does but if he did forget something then there are sure to be a convenience store nearby. He still have some time before the next bus comes, maybe he can buy a triple seven chicken and gobble it down.
As he step out of the store he paused in his step. Flowers ! How could he have forgotten about the flowers especially since he was complaining about it earlier. He open up his metaverse free navigator. It was still too early but there should be one place that’s open right? He grin widely after finding out that yes there is a place nearby that’s already open. A small family run store instead of the big corporate one that he worked in once before. Hopefully they can help him pick up the perfect bouquet for him.
An hour later and a few thousand yen emptier, Akira finally reach the grounds.
The hike up the hill was just as stressful as the trip getting there, he nodded to the monk who was sweeping and headed over to the sink and grabbed one of the available pail filling it with water and started making his way up the hill. It took awhile for Akira to find the right grave, he did not have an exact location and it was not like the monk at the entrance knew each place by heart, so Akira had to walk pass each individual family grave until he found one that was covered with dirt and weed.
Here it is. Abandoned and left alone like the people who’s spirit left there. He put down the bucket gently on the floor and reach for the sponge making sure the sponge took up as much water as possible before reaching toward the grave, the name which was hidden after years of abandonment shine in the sun. He smiles as he dip the sponge in the water again.
--
Cleaning the grave back to its former glory took about an hour, cleaning around the graves like pulling out the weed and disposing of old flowers took about half. By then Akira was covered with dust, dirt and sweat and in need of a good soak. But it was far from over, setting up the candle and incense shouldn’t have been a problem. He done it many times before, but it took a few broken one and a sip of water before he was satisfied with the white smoke in the air. Akira then reached for the flowers and carefully placed them in their placeholder. ‘Done’ he thought to himself. After seeing his parents prepare the family grave each summer he thought it would be easy but it was a lot more work than what he expected. It must be the heat.
He then took out the canned coffee already lukewarm from staying in the heat the whole time and placed it right under the engraved name. Akira then put his hands together, closed his eyes and talked.
When he opened his eyes again it was already dark and his neck was burning from standing outside for too long. His voice was hoarse from talking too much but it was not like he talked much in the first place. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a tie that was frayed and wrinkled with the lack of proper care.
Akechi’s body was long gone. His ashes spread over a name he hated all his life. By spreading the last part of him to a place where he wanted to rest would make him happy, right? He pulled out a lighter and slowly moved it towards the tie.
Akechi loved his mother didn’t he? So Akira should do this one last favor and help guide him to her. But- his hand shake as the fire slowly touched the end of the tie. He quickly turned off the flame before it take more of the tie than it already had.
He can’t
Akira bit the end of his lips internally scolding himself. This is not about him, this is about Akechi. He shouldn't be selfish . It was selflessness that saved the world before, the options he had before when he was allowed to be selfish would have ended up in ruins. Even now after defeating the false gods, the golden rule still applies. He should hurry up and burn it up already !
He drop the lighter on the floor and clutch the tie in his hands tightly. One day, one day he’s sure that this decision is going to bite him back. It might even haunt him for the rest of his life. But it was unfair, he was still a kid, he should be allowed to grieve the way he wants to. He stare sadly at the grave in front of him. Akechi is probably mocking him. A sentimental fool. He wouldn’t mind hearing him sneer one last time.
Akira let out a wet chuckle and wiped his eyes erasing any evidence of tears that was forming in his eyes.
“I’m sorry, I’ll try to visit again soon.” He said as he stood up, making sure to grab the bucket and sponge, leaving no garbage behind as he walked back down the hill and back home.

@cinderillxn said: "soooooooo akechi-san," red eyes glance over at the detective, a (not so) innocent smile on the gymnast's face. "remember what you said that one time back when it was just the three of us in dr. maruki's palace? you seemed real concerned when kurusu-senpai almost, y'know. got taken out in that battle. you really do care about him, don't you? or at least, enough to have said those words to him. so, did you really mean it? do you love him or was that a spur of the moment kind of thing?"
he’s an idiot. akechi goro is an idiot who should sew his goddamn mouth shut.
sumire ambles around the topic, downright beaming as she brings it up. her nose crinkles and her eyes close, so proud of herself, like she’s just so smart for remembering, like it’s the funniest joke she’s ever told. akechi can only grimace in response, digging nails into his palms. sumire doesn’t know the half of what really happened, and it’s none of her goddamned business. even so, akechi has to admit that he deserves the ridicule. he was hot-headed and foolish as ever, let himself get too comfortable with his makeshift team. he said something he shouldn’t have, and he suffered the consequences. some people just never learn.
“ yoshizawa-san. with all due respect, what do you think you’re getting at? ”
it all happened too quickly for him to even recount: akira, lying unconscious on the ground. a bolt of lightning headed in his direction, waiting to deal the final blow. a moment of complete stillness. a voice not unlike his own but warped from strain, screaming at yoshizawa to use a healing spell. he can remember every second of it in excruciating detail, he certainly doesn’t need yoshizawa reminding him. he certainly doesn’t need her mockery, either.
truth be told, maybe this is for the best. maybe this is a mistake that he should have made a long time ago-- then again, there are so, so many unchecked desires still clinging to him like leeches, draining him lifeless. his rotting heart is all too full for a dead man walking. there was always way too much fire in his chest, actually, what was once burning him from the inside out now a stubborn, persistent ember in his ribcage. nobody can die like that, not really. nobody can truly rest with the weight of prophecies still unfulfilled weighing heavy in their very souls. if anything, akechi’s death only further fueled the flame that was eating away at him relentlessly: his regrets caught up to him faster than sleipnir, dragged him down like an anchor thrown deep into the ocean with a running start. he deserved to be defeated. it’s one of the few things in his life that he doesn’t regret. he fought tooth and nail all his life so he could have the satisfaction of leaving this world on his own terms, and it still doesn’t feel like dying, it still doesn’t feel like peace. so, maybe this will help. maybe this will help.
“ that’s a can of worms that you really don’t want to open. for your own sake, i suggest that you don’t think too much about it and leave it be. i don’t know what other answer you expected. ”
akechi was always a force of destruction, through and through. he couldn’t be taught how to preserve the things he has if he was given all of eternity to learn. he never cared much about his own safety, let alone the safety of anyone stupid enough to come near him. akechi still wants a lot of things he doesn’t deserve, too: no matter how tired he is, the flame doesn’t seem to give any signs of relenting-- at this pace, he’s afraid he might burn maruki’s palace to the ground. he would never do that to akira, though, not of his own volition. he wants to see akira do it himself.
all at once, he decides that this palace is messing with his head. yes, that must be it: whatever pried him right out of the claws of thanatos isn’t letting him think straight. it’s not an act of rescue, that’s for sure-- it feels like a coup d’état more than anything else. like the natural order of things has been thrown out of balance. it also feels just a bit too much like temptation: figures, since half of it looks like the fucking garden of eden.
he doesn’t like spending time with the others, not here. quite honestly, he can’t look them in the eye. every waking moment feels the same as one of those downright unbearable interviews he used to sit through for hours on end-- he feels watched, recorded. the intent of the surveillance feels much more sinister this time, though. whatever’s doing this, it knows him, it intended on torturing him from the moment it pulled him into this picture-perfect world. the burning in his chest piles up, white-hot and furious: he’ll never, never let anyone have power over him again. what maruki is doing is wrong, and no amount of mercy or second chances will ever change that.
maruki’s weapon is granting wishes. for the longest time, goro had thought he was immune to it: sure enough, that conviction was based solely on his own arrogance. even so, there’s one way to disarm the bastard: he’ll admit it, and he’ll do it proudly. he’ll scream it to the fucking heavens if he needs to: he doesn’t want to die. akechi goro never wanted to die. if maruki thinks he’s smart for finding that out, he has another thing coming.
it doesn’t matter. it won’t stop goro from doing what’s right. his own stupid, selfish needs will never come first to making sure akira doesn’t ruin his own life for good: akira has an actual life to live, a long and promising one that doesn’t have misery as its leitmotif for a change. a long and happy life, far away from goro. this is the last they’ll see of each other, and goro just has to fucking suck it up.
goro has six feet of dirt to look forward to. that’s just how things are.
“ it’s... personal. i hope you understand. ”

@ren-amamiyaa and their (he/she?) Golden Heist, Thief Nanako and Cryptid Chaser aus flooded my brain and now Im making this post bc I cant fit all of this in asks!!!
All right, so, idea. Cryptid Chasers, Thief Nanako and Golden Heist are all connected righr???
CC acts as a prequel, TN becomes the inbetween starring Nanako and Akechi, and GH stars a broken and older IT and slightly jaded PT.
So far CC has Yosuke and Naoto forming the brotp that fanon wanted through silly Saturday Night Ghost Chasers Shenanigans, Akiren is bein' a lil shit at midnight bc he needs an outlet and exercise to Phantom Thief. While this goes on, Akechi's ghost/spirit/rement/heart/whatever pulls pranks and shenans along with Joker (hiwever that happens).
As the Cryptid Chasers keep going out of their way to confront Joker about Arsene (bc even he likes to mess around) the other IT in Inaba start to try and stop them from disrupting the peace (read : harassing a known criminal) and this somehow leads to a falling out. Mayhaps Naoto and Yosuke break a few laws and Chie busts them, Kanji wants to know why theyre stalking his student/protege, and Yukiko just wants to keep the rumors about the inn in check bc jfc Yosuke STOP SCREECHING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN THE LOBBY THERE IS NO GHOST ON THE TV!
Maybe eventually they call it quits or dont bc Naoto dug this hole too deep to climb out themself and Yosuke is having the time of his life since Partner isnt around and hasn't come back to visit yet (Not sayin' souyo is canon and there but-). And the Cryptid Chasers arc probably ends here with there being some animosity towards their shenanigans , but the IT are all still friends.
Now fast forward to like, uhhh (*flings dart at wall of calendars*) 2014 during winter and Akiren's cryptid acts are now fully accepted and maybe exposed, who knows. Nanako is like 10 ~ 12 (P5 is maybe three/five years post P4 I believe) and is just going through the motions of public education. I.E. go to class, do work, get good grades. Dojima is still the same as he was before Yu came but is at least doing better at being a dad, not much but better. Yosuke and Ted aren't around as much bc Junes, Chie is transferred to Tokyo, Yukiko is busy managing the Inn, and Kanji is busy with work (as a teacher and crafts business owner). Rise unfortunately cant come visit and Big Bro now visits every other year.
Nanako starts to look back and wonder how things started to fall apart amongst the group and recalls that "delinquent" who came back at the same time the Cryptid^tm showed up and ruined the group. So now she starts to remember the good times when Big Bro came by and starts to notice some blanks around winter... Why was she in the hospital when she got kidnapled? Why does she remember these weird flashes of Big Bro and his friends and some monster?? And how come she tried to ask them anything about it they brushed her off each time???
The TV in her room flashes and soon she starts hearing things. She starts to move closer to the tv, as if she was in some sort of trance, as the sounds start to become voices to her. When she's directly infront of the screen she sees something... someone on it...
Nanako doesnt show up for breakast, or to school, and nobody seems to have seen her.
A full year passes on after that day. It starts off with a big search party of the IT and Social Links for the first two months, then after ankther three something stange happens... are people forgetting that Nanako existed or something? Everybody's starting to act like completely different peoplw than who they are too, some even end up hospitalozed due to severe headaches and such, and start claiming that Nanako was never around when she vanished or that she left Inaba or was already deamed dead or missing. This rings alarms in the IT's mimds as they search for answers, eventually all fully reuniting for the first time in years/months.
Naoto and Yosuke blame themselves bc they piece together her disappearance with the Cryptid + Ghost case and immediately get scolded for trying to pin their stupid kids game on a missing person's case - especially now with Nanako missing and possibly in danger again! Afterwards the IT are a bit on edge and a bit broken with the whole thing. Meanwhile Akechi can hear the tale ends of "missing person" and "literal disappearnace" and starts looking into this weird limbo metaverse he's in bc some shit is kinda fucked in here now for some reason. They're pretty much only together as a team to rescue Nanako.
GH in the PTs POV starts when Akiren invites the group to the Amagi Inn thanks to licrative money grin- I mean training. He comes clean into having seen something weird on the tv one late night and wants to let the gang know.
Midnight rolls around and Akechi shows up on the screen and the Thieves losing their shit is an understatement - numerous noise complaints were filed that night. Anyways Akechi decides to just play the role of "hey moron, some shits fucked come help fix it" and ends up informing them of a missing girl and this weird TV Mementos world he is in.
I would like to note that Akechi is not at all bitter or confused at everyone's circumstances in life, no of course not Joker stop crying I know its been a while but shutup theres a kid in trouble rn and youre the only ones who can possibly help her.
When the PT figure out a plan to reach this other world Goro is in (Arsene : THOUARTTHEESTICKYOURHANDINTHETVDOITDOITDOITDOIT) the IT eventually come to the very sad conclusion that Nanako moght be in the TV world and that opens a whole can of worms and burnable bridges to cross.
While in the TV world, I'd like to imagine that due to Akechi having been there for a good while it has been shaped to reflect his heart and be the new overall theme of that world. It all still looks like Inaba, but it all holds themes to Akechi and his no good terrible life. However due to Nanako having been in that world as a kid, and now for an uncertain amount of time, the world now holds motifs to the Heaven area from P4, but it's all sorta ruined and kinda darker.
When both teams get together and enter the weird Tele-Mentos world (IT in a Junes storage and PT at either Ren's pad [bc he moved out obvi] (OR bith teams enter from seperate TVs at the Inn so SHENANS!)) Yu and the IT go through Akechi's influenced world/TV Palace, finding out about his tragic backstory and involvement with the PT, but anything that can and could reveal their true identities is blurred and staticy or missing bc Akechi aint gonna snitch out who ruined his sperm donors life (also I guess saved the world too yeah). While going through the Palace the Team starts to think that finding Goro will just be an "if it happens" sort of deal bc he's been missing for years already, what if we just leave him here bc M U R D E R E R.
Cue a sudden appearance by someone in some sort of fallen angel garb who starts whipping out a full on Metal Gear Villain monologue about how hypocritical the IT are when they find the truth about Akechi's life and disappearance - they claimed to want to live in a world where no one hides in the fig, was that all a lie? Are they going back on their word, and hiding behind a shriud of lies and falsehoods once more? "You've gone and lied and hidden the truth already, what's to say you won't continue?"
Meanwhile Akiren and the Thieves enter at the very top of the Heaven TV Set and have to climb all the way down. As they do so they start seeing little murals or epitaphs about memories and people in this girls life. They see all of these memories of a happy girl who had such a loving family - both found and by blood. As they go further and further down the ruins start to look like an actual Heaven, and the scenary becomes more bright and colorful. Eventually they might run into Crow in his Black Mask clothes and give the bastard a slug on the arm and a group hug or two, bc man he doesn't deserve to suffer anymore like this.
Now that the Phantom Thieves have been reunited (Akechi : I can't leave this world The PT : FUCK, MORE PLOT) they end up thinking up ways to get Akechi out until this weird angel priest looking dude shows up and starts babling about how they are criminals and how they've done more bad than good and blah blah blah. Everyone is just all "We're the good guys, we do the right thing even if its morally grey/ambiguous!" and oh look! Another crazed maniac wants to kill us for our "injustice" *Crow has the decency to look away and not say anything* annnnnnd Heaven is locked off. Perfect.
Now maybe the Phantom Thieves and Investigation Team run into each other somewhere in Akechi's Palace and "You have Personas?!?!" "The hell is a Palace?" "YOU'RE THE CRYPTID OF INABA!!?!?" "And Im the 'Ghost' that follows him." "Wait you followed me as a ghost?" "WAIT WHY ARE THERE TWO AKECHIS??!??!!"
Oh yeah, Shadows... Akechi is still kinda in denial about the whole friends and justice thing...
And now the Dark Priest is back great ("Good name Skull" "Well I've got my moments right?").
Annnnnnnd now I have no idea what happens next and Im all burned out but AAAAAAAAA this entire AU crossover thing is so GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!

Who’s worse and why: Futaba or Makoto?
I mean if you’ve read this blog you probably know who I’m gonna choose, but as for why….welp under the cut
I’d have to say Makoto, both as a person and as a character. I know my bf ranks Futaba as the worse solely because of her BS hacking. And listen, for me Makoto and Futaba are both freaking close, and me saying “Futaba’s hacking isn’t as bad as Makoto” is more an opinion than fact, and shouldn’t boost any positive feelings/pride for Futaba fans because I chose her hacking over Makoto. Her hacking is HORRIBLE I was to make that clear, I still hate it. I’d probably hate Futaba more if it wasn’t for the fact that Makoto gets a single amount of criticism that we all have to come and explain ourselves (that’s the only good thing about Futaba is that her fanbase doesn’t come for my throat, but it also doesn’t mean I think about how crappy she is/think as critically about her as much as Makoto).
With that out of the way I’ll give reasons for disliking both of them:
Makoto:
She never gets dragged. So you might know that I hate the P5MC, I think he’s an asshole and never gets called out on it (and not just he has asshole options, but he does asshole things we can’t not do). One thing I hate is that he drags like Anne, Ryuji, and Yusuke a lot like you wouldn’t believe (like people who are very dedicated to him). But I don’t recall really ever getting a single drag options for Makoto, WHEN SHE WASN’T ON THE TEAM AND SHE WAS AT HER WORSE (even when she drove off our only lead). It was mostly neutral stuff, defiant (not the same as asshole), or begging her not to tell on us. It’s just weird that a lot of other characters will get dragged for not really doing anything wrong, but she DOES screw us over and we don’t get to drag her at least once?
Gets away with A LOT of shit. Like she victim blames Anne, and Anne apologizes? And then has the audacity to say Anne and her are the SAME?! No boo, Anne didn’t know about the abuse, but YOU DID. Anne didn’t report the abuse because she didn’t know, you admit you didn’t report it because YOU DIDN’T CARE ENOUGH. You stalk us, take photos and video recordings without our permission (btw illegal in Japan and would be thrown out in court), but then get surprised when we (mostly Anne/Ryu/Yusuke since they can talk obvie) get mad at you? Complain about how people don’t know your struggles when they yell at you, but you are literally the one causing their grief (so of course they’d yell). Was literally an asshole from the get-go from introduction(she literally insulted Anne from her first words, no wonder Anne didn’t like her) , and pretty much the reason why every scene started to go to shit (only time she didn’t come in like an ass was the scene they called her useless in, and 1) considering her track record they probs assumed, and rightfully so, she was coming to put more pressure on them, which they didn’t need, and seque into 2))
Number 2, she was being useless to the PT! She didn’t do shit while investigating, instead just hovering over us being like “did you get the info? You know will happen if you don’t do this. SO you better do this!” And it’s like???? Bitch, you didn’t even bother to help. You’re useless in the one thing you can do (cause we know you won’t help in the Metaverse). Hell she wasn’t even the person who broke the news about Kaneshiro! We heard a rumor about it on the train as the MC/Mona before Makoto did! But the game made us freaking wait cause we needed the illusion of her doing like…ANYTHING. She also drove away our one gd lead, like WHAT THE FUDGE?! We’re all out here busting our asses and you are just sitting on yours, you really are useless. And she also withheld vital info…..
Withholding info. She does this twice, once during the Kaneshiro arc where we have to waste time investigating this one kid (and we know she knows cause he goes to her after we talk to him, upset cause she might’ve blabbed, oh if only, but like she could’ve asked him questions and she could’ve relayed the same info but NO!). She also doesn’t tell us about Sae’s Palace, and like….that would’ve been FANTASTIC considering we were all like “oh man wish we had a Palace we could go into” the entire gd game.
Her actions and words about her don’t line up (wow awkward sentence XP). People keep describing her as “scary” and “oh man you better not make her mad” and like acting like I should be scared of her. But like???? She’s really such a pushover, she needs to be saved countless times, she showcases no hidden fire-y side (in fact Anne shows that off more, but no the game is too busy dragging her through the mud for some reason). Hell even in the dance games, her and Anne’s reaction of Futaba trying to grope them is different. Makoto is shy and tries to run away iirc, Anne looks like she has the face of murder (Futaba better sleep with one eye open, like jesus what was that game thinking, 1) poor taste to do that to Anne, 2) doesn’t seem like she was having fun and…..that’s so out of place). Just….it’s just really annoying to hear it over and over, and then she needs help over and over. Like she puts up barely any resistence to the guys hitting on them at the beach, all while Anne is ready to throw down and raising a shit fit (understandable, but why isn’t Makoto????) and then if you say “you guys did well” MAKOTO is the one that responds and is like “Oh thanks but it was getting dicey” like bitch you just stood there, Anne was ready to cut a bitch, why are you responding you didn’t do anything????
She takes up too much screen time doing nothing. Her big job is to connect the player with Sae…..and she does a shit job at it. We learn pretty much nothing about Sae or her relationship, except it’s strained (but not TOO strained). She explains easy to understand stuff, but like we already had Mona for that so no need for her. She’s shit at her role as a strategist, 1) she doesn’t do a whole lot of it, 2) the few plans she’s come up with, the majority have failed, 3) her role is useless in a game where we already have a leader and choices are supposed to “matter” so why sin’t the MC just a double duty strategist? 4) Her CoOp ability should’ve already been a part of Futaba’s/Mona’s skill set (like with past Navis). She adds nothing, instead takes screen time away from other characters, as well as removing choice from the players (and possibly coming up with their own plans as well as ideas to utilize everyone).
Futaba:
Her hacking is unrealistic and OP. Just….it’s just bad in and of itself.
Her hacking removes choice and other means to get around a problem. So many times it’s just “*points at something* Futaba hack it” and it’s done. Like Sae’s dungeon, a lot of people say it showcased Goro’s abilities, but all I remember is him saying “Futaba I choose you! Use hack” and that’s how it mostly went down. So like Makoto, her role screws the player out of a more enriching gameplay experience.
Also takes up too much screen time. I mean it’s mostly for her stupid hacking too, but if it wasn’t for that and her it could’ve been utilized for other characters. It’s also weird cause she takes up a lot because of her mom, but we don’t get a whole lot about her mom…..it’s mostly just a plot device rather than a character. It just leaves you unfulfilled.
Her mental illness is horribly written, pandering (in a sense of people thinking it’s cute and you should date her cause of it, not them having a character with mental illness in and of itself is pandering just the……fetishization of it is), and inconsistent (her gameplay and story segregation, aka CoOp and main story segregation, is just so appalling). I think I did one rank of her CoOp and she was all like “MC only you helped me. You’re the reason I started to get better! I can only go outside if you are with me MC! MC MC MC! PT who? Only MC!” and then literally the next f****ing day the main story progresses, she’s waiting outside with Yusuke and everyone is like “You went outside by yourself?!” and Yusuke’s like “nah I picked her up” HMMMM YOU SEEM FINE WITH THE PT WHAT’S THIS ABOUT MC ONLY?! It’s also…..I hate her crush, it’s soooooo unhealthy. She starts to become SO DEPENDENT on you, and is saying some very worrying things like “I don’t think I can do this on my own without you” like all the time. And apparently if you romance her she suddenly becomes more independent, which I don’t think would happen….romancing her route sounded more like I’d encourage her behavior rather than her deciding to just suddenly not do that. The friendship route was the only time it felt like it was realistic, we turn her down and we help her make one more step by herself and let her walk around Akihabara alone within a safe distance and then she gets used to it so it’s possible for her to leave all by herself later. Only time it was semi realistic, because any other time they just bring the freaking mental illness up whenever they freaking please. That’s also doesn’t take in the fact how they “cured” her so they could have a beach episode. A crash course and friendship isn’t gonna cure you suddenly (and it’s not like they actually stole her heart, which I hate she keep saying they did), and that’s an unhealthy mindset and unfair to a friend who wants to help but isn’t fair to put the burden on them to cure you.
She’s kind of an asshole, like Makoto is an asshole before she joins, but Futaba…..I just dunno how most people even get along in the PT. It’s not social awkwardness, she’s just a straight up douche sometimes and I don’t like it (esp when you can’t call her out). It’s not just her, Yusuke is too and so is Mona (and Ryu is to Mona but he’s not an asshole, but he’s not 100% a good boi, but MC is also an asshole too, but sometimes he can be good).
I also just don’t like her dungeon. Like how it’s written. But I could say that for most of P5′s dungeons. It tries to imitate P4 but…..doesn’t do what P4 did right. Her’s just steps on my toes even more cause it’s more closer to P4 than any other dungeon, and it’s a gd shame they didn’t expand on P4′s way of doing it (aka you don’t get the info basically handed to before going into the dungeon, there’s actually a revelation as you go through XP)
(Not points against either, but I find it weird that it feels like Futaba is closer to Makoto rather than Anne…..like nothing is special between Futaba and Makoto for them to be kinda like that, but like Anne was the one to technically appealed to Futaba to get her out of the closet…..You’d think she’d cling to Anne more….Sorry more of a confusing writing issue but since we were talking about these two and my mind wandered 8U)
Edit: I think I answered all my points (albeit it’s the abridged version), but god forbid I missed a couple.

YAS
Ryugoro has so many possibilities from the friendship to romantic. With them both having shitty dads and having to learn to defend themselves in an uncaring world they have a starting point to relate to one another, to be able to understand one another. But not even just that, they can relate to being outcasts. Ya Akechi might be a TV star, but he's still treated as different. Maybe not beat down or glared at but he doesn't fit in and Akechi knows it. Ryuji also knows how it feels to be outcast, not just from the school or track team but the PT also isolate him as well with how they use him as a verbal punching bag. Think of all the possibilities of them bonding before Goro blackmailed them.
Like Ryuji feeling left out of the PT and Goro using that to try and weasel a friendship but finds himself acutally caring for this litteral sunshine doggo.
Or Ryuji finding Goro alone and disgruntled after a horrendous day at work, be it tired of the TV interviewers, long day in momentous, or police stuff not going well, and Ryuji being a decent human being and asking if Goro's alright. Goro giving a snarky reply before realizing who asked him that and Ryuji calmly replies just as sassy before re asking if Goro is doing alright.
Or maybe just Goro finding Ryuji having a panic attack at the TV station field trip because he got lost and a worker started yelling at him in a harsh manner and it shocked Ryuji, as he wasn't expecting it. So Ryuji ran off, got even more lost and curled up against the wall panicking because he couldn't stop it from feeling like when his dad was around. Which is where Goro finds Ryuji. Sense Goro wasn't expecting to see the brave blond shivering against the wall he was taken aback. But he goes to try and comfort Ryuji, as what in the world could have frighten such a outspoken teen? And Ryuji in his state of panic can only cling to Goro as the closet living being and ramble about how he's lost and scared and he knows it's stupid but he can't stop himself from feeling scared of his shitty father who left [amount of years]. Goro doesn't know how to respond to this as he's being given an overwhelming amount of emotions and doesn't know how to deal with this but can't back out now as he knows where Ryuji is coming from. So Goro tries to calm Ryuji down by telling him about a time he's had a panic attack and Ryuji instantly apologies to Goro and after confirming Ryuji is better they part ways but now Ryuji is curious about Akechi as a person so he seeks Akechi out to get to know him better.
Or any variation on this or other starter. There's 5 months before November for something to happen.

THE PERSONA 5 FANDOM SLEEPS ON THEIR POTENTIAL RELATIONSHIP AS A WHOLE BY JUST SAYING THEY BOTH HATE EACH OTHER
I don’t look at Ryugoro and think of it as an enemies to lovers ship. I look at it as a slow-burn friends to possibly lovers ship (Honestly if they were just shown to be FRIENDS I’d be happy because I like their potential dynamic).Because listen. Despite what the fandom may make one believe, Goro never openly says or hints that he dislikes Ryuji. It’s entirely one-sided on Ryuji’s side and even then, it’s a shallow dislike because all Ryuji has to go off of for not liking Goro is that Goro comes off as vain, spoiled, and an asshole for taking a stance against the Phantom Thieves. Aka, “You don’t like me and my friends? I don’t like you.”
BUT,
please notice the shift Ryuji makes after the engine room fight? Ryuji is the first person to reassure Goro that he is special, the first and only one to bang on the bunker door when Goro sacrifices himself. He’s also the one that excitedly starts offering to teach Goro the ropes on being a phantom thief at the beginning of Sae’s palace, ie: explaining why they use codenames, how they steal hearts, etc.
AND HONESTLY, Ryuji turning his thinking on Goro around after that fight? After Goro mentions his home life, his grades, his public image? Especially that bit with Goro’s mother dying, him being an unwanted bastard child, and Goro’s asshole father? If you think about it from Ryuji’s point of view with his own home life, I can see why Ryuji would suddenly start thinking differing of Goro in that moment (Can i also mention that Ryuji wasn’t there when Goro overshared about his mother dying in Leblanc, and would have no idea of knowing about it until the engine room fight anyway?)
I like writing the two of them as bonding over their shared complexes, Both wanting a place to belong, both being hurt by their fathers and loving their mothers, Ryuji sharing his mom with Goro and essentially getting him adopted into his family, Goro being comforted by Ryuji’s unbounded kindness but when Goro recovers from his own issues he can see the bigger picture and realize Ryuji acts purely in others’ interests, Goro teaching Ryuji it’s okay to be selfish and Ryuji has all the right in the world to be upset for himself, to be angry and to not bottle up all those repressed feelings he’s had since Kamoshida broke his leg. To actually tell Morgana or any of the other PT how he feels and how degrading the way they might speak to him is. They both tackle similar problems in different ways and they’re so similar and could work so well together, and it’s such a shame that their potential friendship is summed up as “They hate each other”.
So TLDR; Ryuji and Goro have a really good potential dynamic for friendship and for romance and a big chunk of the fandom ignores it or doesn’t bother to delve into it, seeing it as a shallow hate-hate relationship.
