Pieces discovered at Llangors Crannog may be a royal tunic over 1,000 years old.
In early medieval times, the crannog, an island constructed in the lake, was the site of a royal llys or court.
Conservators have analysed these fragments and found that they are made of linen and silk. The tunic was once decorated with birds, lions and vine leaves.

Child's Sock from Egypt, c.250-350 CE: this colorful sock is nearly 1,700 years old

This tiny sock was discovered during excavations in the ancient city of Oxyrhynchus, in Egypt, and it was likely created for a child during the late Roman period, c.250-350 CE.
Similar-looking socks from late antiquity and the early Byzantine period have also been found at several other sites throughout Egypt; these socks often have colorful, striped patterns with divided toes, and they were crafted out of wool using a technique known as nålbinding.

Above: a similar child's sock from Antinoöpolis, in Egypt, c.250-350 CE
The sock depicted above was created during the same period, and it was found in a midden heap (an ancient rubbish pit) in the city of Antinoöpolis. A multispectral imaging analysis of this sock yielded some interesting results back in 2018, as this article explains:
... analysis revealed that the sock contained seven hues of wool yarn woven together in a meticulous, stripy pattern. Just three natural, plant-based dyes—madder roots for red, woad leaves for blue and weld flowers for yellow—were used to create the different color combinations featured on the sock, according to Joanne Dyer, lead author of the study.
In the paper, she and her co-authors explain that the imaging technique also revealed how the colors were mixed to create hues of green, purple and orange: In some cases, fibers of different colors were spun together; in others, individual yarns went through multiple dye baths.
Such intricacy is pretty impressive, considering that the ancient sock is both “tiny” and “fragile."
Given its size and orientation, the researchers believe it may have been worn on a child’s left foot.

Above: another child's sock from Al Fayyum, Egypt, c.300-500 CE
The ancient Egyptians employed a single-needle looping technique, often referred to as nålbindning, to create their socks. Notably, the approach could be used to separate the big toe and four other toes in the sock—which just may have given life to the ever-controversial socks-and-sandals trend.

Prompt 257
Now Danny loves space. He loves everything about it, to the point his core quite literally is space. And he’s also a baby ghost, even if he could argue he’s not in human form. But see, being baby has an honestly great consequence once it’s noticed- despite the Observants’ best attempts at hiding it, the assholes.
Of course he would be far more worried- and even a bit pissed- if his caretaker wasn’t who it was. Look, he’d never met Clockwork’s siblings before, but apparently everyone was really against Clockwork himself adopting.
But Clockwork as his uncle is fine. Besides, his caretaker is Space! Space itself is holding him, cooing gentle words in the sounds of the very cosmos. And they’re huge, like parts of their body going through portals so they can fit outside Long-Now sized big- and apparently Clockwork can get just as big and they can get even bigger-
Okay, he needs to take a breath- even if he doesn’t need to breathe- to stop his squealing because holy Realms this is so cool.
Space is awesome! And he’s getting so much more rest than he did in Amity- and even if Space sort of shrugged at the idea of school at first, they did help him set up online schooling. So there’s that, and it’s just the start!
He gets to learn so much about space and it’s honestly kind of… nice? To be taken care of? And he can do whatever he needs for his Core and Obsession with only a few interruptions to take care of his living needs. Erm, sort of living needs?
But even that gets turned into a bit of play or even a lesson too! He’s honestly having such a good time right now! He’s learning so much about spaaace! And dimensions! And interdimensional portals and- oops! No one saw that.
Ahem- But he’s learning so much about space and getting to explore other dimensions with Cosmos! And sure he no longer looks as human as he once did and all that, but he’s seen so many people who also don’t look human that does it really matter?
Of course it doesn’t, and he matches his sort-of-dad! Even though the streaks of color in their hair are more of a brown-red like they’re literally bleeding out the cosmos around them instead of it fading to void and space like his own. But still! They match and it’s fun!
And they’re going to go on another trip from the in-between to one of the dimension realities! He’s going to start a game of tag this time he thinks! But no cheating with portals or bending space! Tag!
Look, the Justice League? Not paid enough for this. In fact, technically not paid at all due to being volunteers (not that it stopped them from finding money in their accounts) but still.
There is some sort of figure… being… thing… zooming around the asteroid belt, about the size of Earth itself. Let them repeat themselves. A planet-sized creature (are those hands or paws? Tail or simply its body stretching? Hair or the Abyss-) is currently darting around the asteroid belt like a child running through grass.
That is, without noticing or caring if something bug-sized might be crushed. And they are very much bug sized, as the governments are concerned about. Like really concerned about. Like talking about trying to nuke the entity if it wanders closer sort of concerned.
Which they are all very concerned and very much like, against. Because it isn’t seeming to notice the asteroids it’s knocking into their area. It’s like… not a space whale or eel or anything like that but also is something like that.
And they would also maybe like to see if they can attempt to talk it down first maybe and-
oh.
Oh.
That creature is the baby. And mama just arrived, stretching across the entire galaxy, from them to Pluto and beyond, like something took the cosmos and shaped it like clay into some sort of form. Like reality itself has wandered into their galaxy with what they are suddenly realizing must be a very young child.
Shit, they really have to make sure no one tries to piss either of these things off-
#Prompts#DCxDP#DPxDC#Danny is like Lil Baby Man compared to Cosmos#But he’s the same size as the world too lol#Space Core Danny#Clockwork is a triplet lol#Clockwork Chaos & Cosmos the children of Infinity & Reality#Let Primordials & Ancients be Eldritch#Are those stars or eyes? Hair or strands of time? Clothes or the fabric of reality? Wound or black hole?#Danny: I am doin good at hidin- the best at hide and seek#Cosmos veery slowly floating after: Oh nooo where has my ghostling hid where could they have goone to *knows exactly where he is*#Can they *technically* go smaller? Yeah but they’re used to where All of Space-Dimension-Portals meets#Danny is Not ghost king he’s bby Space Ancient#Why were people against Clockwork adopting? Sooo, it's been some time since I last posted something, but in my defence, I was ✨️busy✨️.
Also, I decided to take a break from digital painting and focus on actually practising more. Yesterday, I was doing a pose/fabric-folds spontaneous practice session, and long story short, somehow ended up with a Greek-statue-like person in my sketchbook.

Well well well if it isn't Mister One Bad Day Away from Turning into an Envy Demon, Falo'Din, himself.
Okay so, this one I sketched out fastest out of all of them so far, mostly because the mosaic gives us The Most Direction out of all of the Evanuris. BUT ALSO. He's got a lot to unpack too, at least for me.
My general idea is based loosely on obviously the shepherd theme, since he is "known" to guide souls through the fade (a navigator if you will, which is what I feel like his helmet symbol is adjacent to...or at least part of a compass etc) but also he's reflected as a god of Fortune which I think is fascinating. I wanted him to be decked out in some gold, because I picture him as a guy who just Wants to Acquire Stuff. He equates this hoard of things as a way to power maybe, and Elgar'nan is all about being big and imposing and Always in gold, so Falo'Din follows in that manner....but because at the end of the day he will never be Elgar-butthole he cannot fully commit to it. So with the teal I wanted to combine the traditional aquatic themes attributed to Navigation Gods AND the themes of Envy I think Falo represents and used one of my favorite in-between green and blue shades, that peacocky color is just *chef kiss*.
Speaking of Acquiring Stuff and his role in the fade.....I'm not gonna lie I almost picture him using his ability to traverse the Fade to 'guide' sleepers...like holding them hostage in dangerous places to coerce them to worship or tithe to him in grand amounts etc etc. Idk if that makes sense but I'm like I bet he could do that easily....if that was something he actually participated in. Its so funny he's referred to as "the most merciful" when Solas is like this bitch started a war(s)? cause ppl didn't like him as much as he liked himself. LOL. Also, the piece-y armor was something I wanted to do with him and Dirth, since they are one spirit sundered into two, there's no way that doesn't leave some sort of scar...even if it was done in spirit form and not in their physical bodies. So he uses these extremely shiny and specifically places armors to fade the scars/disfigurements etc. Like yeah sure they're the most powerful mages of the elves, and possibly maybe someone Could heal those...but also Idk I think sundering spirits should leave marks behind. Hopefully that all makes sense LOL.
Now onto Dirthamen! : D
Also also ome small detail shots under the cut lol
the detailing on his pants because I drew this all out and it took forever and then resizing it I was like...brother I am an idiot it looks like NOTHING XD
Also included some silver on his boots and leg armor...because y'all aint gonna believe this but uhhhh I plan to put Dirthamen in silver LOL wow shocker who saw that coming >_>
I kept zooming out and just going "GAAAAY" (affectionate) at this face. Also I am so sorry I am so bad at drawing super curly hair, I get lost in the sauce >o<
#Falo'Din#Evanuris#Dragon Age#Ancient Arlathan#Sorry I wrote so much LOL oh my god#I wanted to replicate the tile effect but on fabric#Used more Intense colors than with June-Sylaise because this guy was probably A Lot in person#Dirth next hehehe#My Art#Sketches

Does anyone knpw where I could find a full pattern for the Black family tree?
I'd like it as a tapestry, rather than on Aida, so not a cross stitch pattern (which I have managed to find on etsy).

Higher thread counts are seen as desirable because they make materials softer, and tend to wear better over time – the more strands there are to begin with, the more there will remain to hold the fabric together when some begin to fray.
