the way john and bob are looking at each other in this scene is making me feel a lot of things because

john is the last person bob expects to see

he’s the last person bob thought would go after him to help

the last time bob was ‘himself’ around john was in the vault and they had a very tense, bad start to their relationship

the next time bob sees john he threw himself right into the void, not knowing for sure if it will kill him

just to save bob with the others

(after that, john beats the shit out of his father)

(after that, john, with a piece of metal pierced through his shoulder, says "get up, bobby", encouraging him to fight against the void)

(after that, john rips the metal out of himself and rushes to bob to comfort him, to hold him and help him)

(after that, john is the only one who whispers something to bob when he cries)

(after that, john is the only one who says, "you were great in there, bob")

(after that, john is the only one who asks "what happens when he regains his memory?")

(and after that, they will live together, them and their friends, every day becoming more and more of a family)

There’s something about the character with bruised knuckles and bloody lips that still smiles. The character that has been brutalized, beaten, abused, yet still pursues kindness. A character who has seen the depths of violence, has known despair, who has felt how much rage burns with an agony you’ll never forget. And still chooses to protect people who need it. A character that says “I felt this so you don’t have to. I know pain and you don’t deserve it.” They don’t run away when times get tough, they’re in the battle, standing front and center. Telling the enemy “fuck you” without even blinking. They won’t wince at a fist but they turn to mush at the sight of someone else’s tears. They’ve bled for this. They’ve taken the brunt of it.

All so everyone else can be safe from it.

Y'all... do you really think any characters would want us to do HALF the things we've done with them in fanfic? I read a lot of whumpfic, and let me tell you, if fictional characters had real rights and had to consent to what's written about them, most of the authors on AO3 would be in deep shit.

No, look at me. This is not a threat to your real-life rights. Look at me. This is not hurting real people. Whatever you're angry about, it is not justified. Don't read it. Block the tag. And for your own sake, maybe try to train yourself out of the mindset that you're better than people who don't write the way you want. It's juvenile. It's peak early-2010s Tumblr, and none of us want to go back to that.

Also please please stop trying to hide your ship dislike behind a progressive cause, like fighting aphobia. As an asexual fan who's seen a lot of actual aphobia in fandom, I understand where some of this might be coming from. But you have got to recognize the difference. Don't lose sight of the line between reality and fantasy. One carries real consequences; the other is a matter of personal taste, no matter how much you try to give it some kind of moral weight.

Just looking up at him one day reading case files and squinting at the small letters or some shit and like a lightning bolt coming from the heavens it becomes clear that his Dad's hair is more gray than black at this point, and he has wrinkles on his face. He didn't have wrinkles before. When did those get there? In his head, B is still the same "barely adult" man who brought him home when he was 9. But it's been 20 years since then, and they both kept ageing even tho he didn't really pay attention to it until now. And it's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's a thing, and he has to come to terms with that.

Idk maybe I'll do art for this when I have time and motivation...
