Favorite character from Greek mythology + favorite myth from Greek mythology?
Favorite characters
I'll turn this into a tag game : @margaretkart @dootznbootz @sarafangirlart @aliciavance4228 @katerinaaqu @hermesmoly @go-rocksquadsfan @sanska @vint-knight .
And @anon (you can give your answer in another ask 😉).
So, I have a loooooooot of faves. This list is long.
Here are mine :
Nobody. Yeah, in reality, I hate mythology and just pretend I like it. Or I just love making puns about my favorite lying war criminal. Who didn't cheat btw.
Penelope. These two are soulmates, no ifs or buts. I always found her underrated and @dootznbootz 's ramblings on her confirm that. Cunning and sassy half-naiad queen.
"The delian twins", as I like to call them. Idk I really love their multifaceted natures of protectors and deadly huntress/inflictor of illnesses (with an affinity towards plague). And their familial bond is precious. And I like them both equally, even though I talk about Apollo a bit more ig.
Leto. She's precious. They're always ready to defend each other. Like when Apollo and Artemis killed Niobe's kids because she was disrespectful to Leto. Or when Leto came in to save her son from being thrown in Tartarus by Zeus. Or when baby Artemis helped her mother deliver her brother. She fought for her children and now they fight for her.
Hestia. Too bad there isn't more about her because I relate a lot to the concept of chilling at home and staying away from drama.
Ariadne. Because of her family's tragic history, her healing from it with Dionysus (in most versions) and overall, she's great. Also, it's funny how Theseus wanted to marry a child of Zeus but his ex girlfriend actually succeeded 😂. Speaking of her family tragedy...
Asterius. I bet most adaptation authors don't know who I am referring to 🤣. He's a man-eating monster, yes, but he grew up isolated, trapped and unloved. I feel so bad for him.
Perseus. The GOAT. Partly thanks to @sarafangirlart. I already liked him since I always knew he wanted to save his mother, but he genuinely grew on me since I read her posts. That and when I learned of his war against Dionysus. Extremely underrated story.
Athena. Idk I don't think I need to elaborate on why she's cool.
Hades. In retellings, I often hate him because he's either woobified or made into "Greek Satan" (at least in Disney he's fun), but he's genuinely cool in mythology. Morally gray Hades save me.
Hermes. From birth, he was always a little trickster. I love how many functions he has (messenger of the gods, god of merchants, thieves, communication, also a psychopomp btw). A very energetic and helpful god.
Asclepius. I think I should make a post explaining why he's great because, yeah, I don't talk much about him even though there are things to say (yeah it's because I did a lot of research on him).
And... finally... Dionysus 🤣. Of course he made it in this list. I dedicated a whole essay series about this god, come on !
Honorable mentions : Hector, Andromache, Menelaus, Demeter, Telemachus, Hephaestus, Hippolytus, Danae, Ares and many others.
Favorite myths/plays/poems
I already answered that but can't find the post. So I'll do it again, with some new answers in mind. Basically "the myths with the characters on the list".
It's either because they're that compelling or just hilarious.
The homeric cycle. Ok, an easy one.
The Bacchae by Euripides (mandatory reading if you want to understand Dionysus imo. No excuses).
The frogs by Aristophanes. Because it's funny.
Asclepius' story. Seriously I'll elaborate on it one day.
Hermes' birth story. Him stealing Apollo's cows and Apollo getting mad at his scallywag of a brother 🤣🤣. And then just him winning Apollo over with the lyre.
Pirithous and Theseus getting their asses stuck on a chair (yes this is my title for this story). I love to mock these two, especially Pirithous because... give this man a Darwin award please. No thoughts and no survival instincts in his brain 😂.
Orpheus and Eurydice. Simple but powerful.
The Argonautica. Aka a huge crossover. Seeing more interactions between all these heroes would be awesome (especially if we take every version into account 👀. So many faces...). It's funny how I love the Argonautica but never talk about Jason himself 🤣🤣. The embodiment of the protagonist who's less interesting than the other characters.
Perseus' war against Dionysus. A potential retelling about this myth would go so hard !! Especially since we could get a scary Dionysus. Hopefully it doesn't get ruined :(
Edit : some English mistakes I had to correct.
#greek mythology#greek myth discussion#ask#maybe i don't talk that much about Asclepius because he's not disrespected in adaptations#he's inexistent most of the time and that's a shame. which is why I chose to write up something about him btw#not a reblog

Been replaying Hades obsessively (as you do) and I love how almost every character addresses Zagreus differently? it's so small but it adds to their charm
Long-ish post and some small spoilers for characters and relationships!
Meg and Than call you both Zagreus and Zag. your partners!
Hades calls you Boy (derogatory) and only later does he call you by name occasionally
Nyx calls you child or my child. She is mother of many
Achilles calls you lad, in a gentle way, your mentor
Dusa calls you Prince, and later as she gets more comfortable also calls you by name
Cerberus... none of his heads posses the gift and curse of speech.
Skelly goes BOYO! I love him
Hypnos I noticed never calls you by anything, usually just goes "you"
Persephone calls you my son, as well as Zagreus of course
Charon calls you hhhrrrgggghhhhhhh...
Sysiphus calls you Prince Z. very casual, he's your buddy!
Alecto calls you redblood (derogatory), or uh. trash god. very sweet of her
Tis goes murrdererrrrrrrrr (and zagreus!)
Chaos says O Son of Hades. I love how they speak
Orpheus calls you friend or my friend, in that melancholic way of his
Eurydice calls you Your Royal Majesty and such, all very playful though!
Patroclus calls you stranger, keeping his distance even though really you aren't a stranger anymore
Theseus calls you all sorts of things of course. Deamon, fiend, blackguard, etc. very extra
Asterius calls you short one. ouch but fair I guess
Zeus calls you nephew,
while Poseidon also calls you Little Hades which is cute ngl
Athena calls you Noble Cousin, very fancy
Ares calls you my kin, he is very into all this fighting huh
Aphrodite calls you little godling (<3)
Dyonisus calls you man, and sometimes Zag, he's chill like that
Artemis calls you "you" mostly, sometimes by your name. she is more introverted and awkward
Hermes calls you Coz. No time to say the full word
Demeter calls you little sprout. very cute actually
And I think that's all, hopefully! if I missed anyone I'll add em later but do you see what I mean? I bet you could hear all of these in their respective voices too, they all have so much personality
#not art#marim talks#hades game#zagreus hades#not gonna tag everyone oh gods#but yea I love this game and had to share my observation somewhere or I'll explode#hades supergiant

2022 Fanfic Meme
I did this meme at the end of 2021 and enjoyed looking at my stats, so I thought I’d do it again for this year. Word count for the year: 229,620 ...Which is actually a lot more than last year, even though I thought that I’d written less. However, some of this isn’t entirely accurate, as I was able to post zine pieces written in 2021 publicly in 2022 and I’m too lazy to subtract them from the total. In 2023 there will also be zine pieces that were written in 2022 being posted (and in one case, 2021, for a zine that keeps getting delayed...) Number of stories posted to Ao3: 20 (two less than the previous year) Pairings written for: Bill/Ford (Gravity Falls) The rest is all Hades Game: Zagreus/Theseus/Asterius Dionysus/Ariadne Theseus/Asterius Zagreus/Momus (OC) Theseus/Zagreus (a lot) Momus/Icarus (both OCs) Charon/Hermes Dionysus/Hypnos Zagreus/Dusa Hades/Persephone Ares/Skelly (the best!) Zagreus/Hypnos/Theseus Artemis/Callisto Nyx/Persephone Nyx/Athena Zagreus/Perilous Foes Fandoms I wrote for: Hades Game Gravity Falls Original Most popular story: I added a one year anniversary bonus chapter to “the prince with specific tastes; the king with specific regrets”, so that continues to be my most popular fic. Story I’m most proud of: Even though it was actually written in 2021 and only posted this year, I feel like it has to be “when ares met skelly” because it all came together so beautifully and was just so punchy and funny. Not to mention it has an amazing podfic based on it. Funniest: Same as above. Kinkiest: Uhhh probably “zagreus learns how to degrade hypnos (with help from theseus)” by virtue of having the most sex in it. The title explains it all, really. Saddest: Some of the chapters of my original horror short stories, “Road to Longhanglington” are quite sad. But outside of that I didn’t write many sad stories this year compared to last year. Least Popular: “Theseus forgets not to be an asshole” got the least amount of views. It’s a short drabble about Theseus abandoning Ariadne on Naxos, which I guess I’ve just written about enough times before that everyone was bored of me writing it haha. The twist this time is that it was from Theseus’s POV instead of Ariadne’s though. Most Cringe-Worthy: I am cringe and free. Favorite Opening Line(s): “There hadn’t been a Dusa here, or anything remotely like a Dusa, back when Persephone had first lived in the underworld.” Taken from “caretaker of caretakers”. Favorite Closing Line(s): “ Thus, on the beckoning call of Chaos, Zagreus and Theseus jump.” Taken from “zagreus’s zany time travel antics (guest-starring long-haired theseus)” and perhaps my favourite because it is the one I’ve most recently written and was the end of a long and satisfying project. Top Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated: I honestly feel that my answers to this question from last year carry over to this year, but for scenes specifically from fics written this year: From “zagreus’s zany time travel antics (guest-starring long-haired theseus)”: - Zagreus & Theseus diving into the chaos portal together at the end of the fic - Any of the scenes with Momus & Icarus ...And that’s it for specifics. Literally any art at all based on my fics would make me immensely happy. Story I haven’t yet written, but intend to: At the moment, I just intend to wrap up any unfinished Hades Game projects that I have in preparation for Hades II coming out, since I want to have my table cleared and ready for all of the new brainworms that game will surely give me. I’ve actually managed to do do this for the most part, so there are just a few oneshots left (and one larger project that I may just not go ahead with). As a side note, I’m pleased to say that I achieved two of my three writing goals that I set for myself at the end of 2021 and both of them were the bigger ones: I did indeed write that full TheseZag time travel fic this year and I also wrote a bonus anniversary chapter to “specific tastes; specific regrets” to cap off the plot threads about the reunions between Asterius & Ariadne and Theseus & Aegeus. The only one I didn’t get written was the self-indulgent Dionysus/Momus fic, but I suppose self-indulgence should happen when it happens instead of being planned for. Fic-writing goals for 2023: Same as above, again. I know for sure that I have one TheseZag oneshot left to finish writing and several horror short stories that I might pick up again when inspiration strikes. But I don’t want to make too many big plans for myself when Hades II might render all of my fanfics to strictly fanon in the very near future. I’m more excited to wait and see what it gives me to work with. No pressure if you don’t want to do this, but I’m tagging @101flavoursofweird @crownofariadne @sweveris @krokonoko and @pandirpus

Hades characters as sleeping schedules (p.2)
Charon: Don't think he sleeps. But he does rest for abt three hours every day
Chaos: They are the beginning of everything, I don't think they sleep either
Theseus: seven hours and chugs energy when Asterius isn't looking
Asterius: healthy four hours of sleep a day (yes, I looked up how long bulls sleep for this post)
Tisiphone: ten hours. dunno why
Alecto: five hours plus three cups of black coffee. Honestly, how else could she be such a fucking ass
Zeus: Nine hours plus a two-hour nap. Homeboy is old and horny, okay?? sleeping, fucking, and being a fucking bastard are the only things he does.
Poseidon: eight hours. I feel like despite everything he is the one of the brothers who has his life together the most in this game tbh
Athena: eight hours, not a second more or less. She also drinks a cup of black coffee every day
Artemis: six hours or nine. She sleeps longer in the winter bc there is less hunting to be done
Aphrodite: Sleeping alone?? probably eight and a half hours, I feel like she is a very comfy person. Sleeping with someone else?? We'll get into that another time :3
Ares: No more than five hours probably
Hermes: Homeboy sleeps like two and a half hours and drinks three energy and four coffee a day. Honestly don't know how he's still alive and functioning
Demeter: eight and a half hours plus a nap after lunch. Lady is old and rule-abiding
Dionysus: either he pulls an all-nighter or sleeps thirteen hours. It's Dionysus after all

So I'm still on my Hades brainrot, so here's my ranking of
How many shots it would take for me to hook up with each Hades character
By an ace/aro minor who has never had any alcohol
Zagreus: a solid ZERO. This man is fine as fuck.
Hades: I dunno man, I'd need at least 2-3.
Nyx: like 3-4.
Hypnos: I'd need to be so fucking drunk to hook up with Hypnos
Achilles: is there such a thing as negative shots? Because I would need negative shots to hook up with Achilles. But for the sake of simplicity, ZERO. Achilles you can have my soul.
Dusa: no.
Skelly: again, no.
Zeus: 3-4. The beard is a turn off
Poseidon: 4-5. I just don't think he's hot ngl.
Aphrodite: 1-2. Sometimes I wish she'd put clothes on
Athena: Zero. This woman is pretty as hell.
Ares: also zero. Very attractive.
Artemis: only 1. I love artemis
Hermes: ZERO. Hermes you can take my soul.
Demeter: 1-2. Very pretty.
Dionysus: 1. And we all know he's the resident manwhore of the game
Chaos: zero. They're fine as hell.
Persephone: 1-2. Very pretty.
Thanatos: 1-2. Pretty attractive.
Patroclus: Zero. Just as fucking fine as his husband
Orpheus: 2-3. The puffy hair is strange, but cute.
Eurydice: 1. She's very pretty.
Sisyphus: 4-5. Sorry dude.
Charon: 3-4. Not really what I'm into.
Megaera: 2-3. Pretty, but would still take a couple.
Tisiphone: a solid 16 shots in. Don't like her much.
Alecto: I hate this son of a bitch. I'd never.
Theseus: nope. Hate him too.
Asterius: I am not banging a fucking minotaur.

omegaverse au! which gods/characters are alphas, omegas, or betas?
I knew I could count on you to enable me, boo. I gotchya♡ Also, I suffered making this because I was crying the whole time like “CANT THEY ALL BE ALPHAS AND OMEGAS???” -- Ryan
Okay, so this was difficult. I was on the fence for A LOT of them (and as you can see, I still am).
REALISTICALLY, the chart should look like this:
Zagreus: Omega Megaera: Alpha Thanatos: Alpha Hypnos: Omega Achilles: Alpha Patroclus: Beta Dusa: Omega Nyx: Beta Hades: Alpha Zeus: Alpha Poseidon: Alpha-leaning Beta Athena: Alpha-leaning Beta Artemis: Beta Aphrodite: Omega Hermes: Beta Ares: Alpha Dionysus: Alpha Persephone: Beta-leaning Omega Chaos: Beta Charon: Alpha Theseus: Beta-leaning Omega Asterius: Alpha
But my GODS do I want an Alpha Hermes, mmph. Also, I took a very unpopular opinion there in thinking Theseus could pass as either a Beta or an Omega. But honestly, these aren’t concrete -- for example, I’ll definitely write content for an Alpha Zag, or an Omega Meg if someone wanted. This isn’t permanent, but it’s how I feel they would scale based on their personalities.
