I’m very 🤔 about Kerri, because although Asbel says he doesn’t really know what his parents think of him, Kerri is… seemingly… fine as a parent? Her main flaw is that she’s incredibly ineffectual regarding Aston’s choices😅 But it makes sense as much as I dislike it, especially when you compare her personality to her flashback self; eventually she just learns to act in the role she’s married into. But I’m not too sure how absent she might have been towards Hubert or Asbel, it makes sense that she is, Asbel clearly cares about her and still receives her letters, his refusal to engage with Lhant is more so bc he doesn’t want to depend on them (ex. selling Excalibur to pay tuition instead of asking his family), but. hm.

I don’t want to trend too hard into demonising parents, because Aston is uh. not good not bad but a secret third thing. But at the same time there’s a lot you can get out of disagreements on it.

Anyway, my initial thought was “awww Kerri recognizing when Asbel isn’t Asbel and getting to know Lambda”, but then it turned into “Kerri being rightfully freaked out that her son is being possessed by the same monster that possessed the King and caused like a ton of problems, and even more worried because her son insists that that monster is totally good now, when he’s clearly capable of taking over Asbel’s body.”

It’s like “but daddy I love him” but. uh. *gestures* 😂
