in my eyes, argenthill is neither strictly romantic or strictly platonic but a secret third thing. they can't be together long-term because of their paths, but they CAN be deeply devoted to each other. they recognize the others' independence but also know they can lean on them for emotional support.
they are planets whose orbits rarely cross, but when they do, it is a moment that is mutually cherished and kept close to the heart until the next moment. they are lonely people who try not to get attached as theyre frequently on the move, but the heart betrays their true desires.
anyways its about the Devotion and Yearning. to me.
#argenthill#gibgabs#crossposted from elsewhere but the secret third thing is qpr. i just wanted to preserve my peace on og site#also its easier to explain my thoughts without a word limit. anyways#argenti and boothill are individuals whose decided that they will lead lonely lives. but that doesnt erase the desire for companions#they are drawn to the astral express/tb bc of its mission and the people. argenti himself says he wants to protect the beauty of it#and boothill finds comfort being there as well. so they want to be around people who can understand that isolation/loneliness#and not judge them for it. instead respecting their choice/boundaries while also knowing they got their back covered#anyways uhhh thanks for reading if u made it this far! i love these guys so much they are my touys and i have many ideas

Coming back to you with another request cuz I loved your previous work
Boothill, Welt, Ratio, Jing Yuan and Gallagher with the same platonic teen reader premise but reader calls them ,,Dad" on accident and they themselves don't even notice it because it comes so naturally to them
🌑so glad you liked it🥺🥺also the dad's of all time yes yes!! Also my internet has been fucked lately that's why uploads are slow sowy 🥺
✦ 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥 ✦
If you look at his lore, he was actually a dad (😭 my Shayla) so yeah big chance he won't notice at all
Because of the trauma associated with his family in general, he'll notice it eventually and be a bit conflicted
On one hand, he's absolutely delighted at the fact that despite being almost entirely made of metal, you are still able to find such fundamentally human comfort within him
And on the other hand, he has a hard time accepting that the man he was before didn't actually die along with most of his body
He won't ever correct you tho, at the end of the day he's just grateful that he's still able to make young folk feel safe around him
Reminds him that he's still human🥺
✦ 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐭 ✦
Did you see the way he basically adopted Sunday the moment he stepped on the express?? Yeah, that's dad right there
He basically adopts every kid (as in, anyone younger than him) that steps aboard the express, so i feel like someone else might've already called him before and he just brushed it off
Same with you, though in his heart he's over the moon
All he wants in life is to make everyone around him feel safe and loved, so to know that you of all people seem to think of him in such a way really warms his heart
Though he'll never point it out in fear of making you embarrassed
He's overjoyed!! But internally :)
✦ 𝐃𝐫. 𝐑𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨 ✦
Truly baffled, at first
He's aware of his reputation and he doesn't mind it but he never expected someone to him that way
Though he's (not so) secretly very pleased
At his core, he's a teacher and that's what he loves to do - spread knowledge to all who seek it
And I'm sorry for reminding you of this but most of us have called our teacher mom/dad before so...
There's a slight chance it's happened before... also a slight chance he very dryly corrected them - "last time i checked i have no children" 🙄
Might do the same to you unless he's in one of his moods, writing down information or just lost in thought - then he'll probably just wave you away wordlessly
I feel like he understands on a behavioral level why you did it and because of it, wont comment on it or bring it up again. It's just something people do sometimes, nothing weird about it
The most neutral out of all of them but will make a mental note about how it probably means you trust him at least a little
When he lets himself be selfish and overthink it, it does warm his heart but you'll never know
✦ 𝐉𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐮𝐚𝐧 ✦
Actual father to Yanqing YOU CANT CHANGE MY MIND!!
Ooooh he's tearing his hair out trying not to tease you about it
He knows that if he does you'll crawl back in your shell again and thats tHEEE last thing he wants in life, really
It's easy to feel comfortable around him, i feel. He's just a big lazy cat - pretty independent and chill
He's good at just being there when you need him there as well as talking your ear off as a distraction - peak comfort
Definately called Jingliu 'mom' as a kid, come on
And Yanqing did the same with him
So it doesnt surprise him much since he understands its a pretty normal thing but GOOOOD he wants to acknowledge it so BAAADD
HE WANTS TO MAKE IT SILLY BUT NOOOOO 😭
He's an adult now (a very old one at that) so he understands that now is NOT the time
Will keep thinking back on it fondly tho :))
✦ 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 ✦
Oh oh my... he gives so much deadbeat dad I'm getting nostalgic IM KIDDING
Anyway, as a bartender, i feel like thats happened to him before
People say weird shit when they're drunk so it's very likely someone's called him dad before
Though that feels very different to him
When people do that when drunk it doesn't usually mean anything - he must just remind them of their father (for good or bad) so he doesn't take it too seriously
But you? Oh he's taking it seriously
Ego? Inflated to hell and back
He's being extra sweet and caring with you
Making sure you eat and rest, etc
Gotta live up to his reputation 😉
The dad who stepped up fr
Might tease you about it, but if you have an adverse reaction he'll stop immediately
Very touched that you think of him that way even subconsciously and will try to make sure he doesn't disappoint :)

Could I request Boothill, Argenti, and Jing yuan (as well as your faves if youd like to add more) with an s/o who has panic attacks or panic disorder(unprompted panic attacks)?
No worries if you arent comfortable with the topic
@dragon-anon

ʚɞ Synopsis : the hsr men helping you through your panic attacks.
Includes : Jing Yuan, Argenti, and Boothill.
Warnings : gn!reader, panic attacks, fluff fluff.
Notes : one time i had a panic attack and didn't know what to do, it was a bit scary. Ty for the request, to anyone reading this, my requests will be closed for now as i have upcoming fics for you all ♡
↳ ARGENTI.
The rain, how lovely it was. Watching the harsh droplets of rain fall down. Despite the force of the downpour, you remained completely dry, shielded from its touch. Argenti, ever protective, had ensured that not a single droplet came close to your skin, holding the umbrella gracefully to shield both of you, his side shoulder even dampening since you both won't fit underneath the protective shield of the umbrella.
The rain, normally a soothing and calming presence, now seemed to amplify your anxiety rather than soothe it. You felt the familiar weight of panic settling upon you, like a train smashing through the thoughts in your head. Your breathing grew labored and shallow, your chest constricting as if being squeezed. You tried to rationalize your feelings, wondering if you were just overthinking the situation, but deep down you knew it was a panic attack.
“My dear,” he repeated, because you seem not to hear him the first time, he took note of your labored breathing and the wild eyes. And immediately, he took your hand to find a place to sit together, finding a concreted side and wiping the dirty water with his hands or parts of his clothes, all so it could be a bit dry for you to sit on.
Once both seated, he spoke again, “i want you to follow the rise and fall of my chest, okay?” His voice was firm, yet soft and smooth like silk, he held both of your cold, clammy hands and placed them over his chest. You couldn't speak, like you were in a bit of shock, but you followed his instructions, feeling how his chest rose and fell, you copied the movements, your head falling a bit since the chest tightness wouldn't go.
Argenti continued to take slow, measured breaths, letting the rise and fall of his chest guide your own. He could see beads of sweat forming on your forehead, your body shaking under his touch.
“You’re doing great, darling,” he murmured, his hands gently massaging your back in an attempt to soothe you. “Just follow my lead, nice and slow. You’re doing well.”
"l-lovely weather." You try whispering as you look around to lighten the mold, the rain only intensifying in return. "Indeed, it is lovely." His gaze never leaving your face as he spoke, like he was referring to you rather than this predicament. He slowly moved one of his hands up to cup your cheek, gently thumbing away some of the water droplets that clung to your skin.
You manage to calm down in a short time, you give your knight a soft smile of appreciation, and he took your hand in return, pressing a gentle kiss on the palm pf your hand.
↳ BOOTHILL.
There were a lot of people, too many. You felt the place was suffocating you, like their gazes were all on you despite everyone minding their own business.
It felt like their eyes were eating you, judging your every move, your appearance, how you spoke even.
You were zoning out, parting your lips to breathe, your hands grabbing a fistful of the fabrics of your clothes on your sides. You forget that Boothill was even in front of you, and unaware of your internal strife, Boothill continued his bantering, blissfully ignorant of the panic attack about to unfold.
However, when he noticed your labored breathing and how you were grabbing at your sides so harshly, his expression shifted, concern etching across his rugged features. "Somethin's wrong," he stated, his gaze flickering with a mix of curiosity and worry, "Are you alright, darlin'?"
You swallow thickly, "It's crowded, i think, i don't want to be here, I can't breathe—"
He instinctively stepped closer, his presence creating a bubble of personal space that shielded you from other party-goers.
"Hey, hey, hey..." He whispered, his voice soothing. "Don't panic, darlin'. Just focus on me, yeah? Take a deep breath. Let the air fill up your lungs nice and slow." You try following his instructions, he even rubs at your back, his other hand blocking your view to see the others. It was just you and him.
Boothill continued his gentle reassurance, his voice a soothing constant in the midst of the anxiety. "That's right, darlin'. Keep taking slow breaths. There's no need to rush." He added, rubbing your back in steady, circular motions, "Feel my hand on your back. Just focus on that feeling. In... and out... In... and out..."
It's magical, how relaxed you felt, it makes you close your eyes, "Thank you."
"No thanks needed, darlin'," Boothill uttered out with a grin, "I reckon we can take it easy for a moment. Just focus on your breathing. We can stay like this for a while."
"But we're kind of in the middle of the crowd.." you try looking around again, but he stops you from doing so, "those other folks, they ain't worth your worry. Just focus on yourself, alright?"
↳ JING YUAN.
When Jing Yuan entered the room, he saw you curled up in the corner on your desk, one hand almost pulling at your hair. He noticed how there were paper cups falling off your desk, rolling on the ground with the remaining drops of dark brown liquid seep from it.
Ah, you must've had too much caffeine.
"Sweetheart, how many cups did you drink?" Was the first question that was shot towards you, and you look behind you like you were a caught-disturbed cat.
Four, five cups? you felt the anxiety even crawling at your back, whispering harsh things into your ear.
Your heartbeat only quickened, probably from the fear of messing up your work that you pulled an all nighter for.
He was behind you where you sat, and he gently grabbed your chin and tilted your head upwards to look at him. He examined your face for a moment before shaking his head, “You really need to take better care of yourself. Look at you. You look like a mess.” He lightly pinched your cheek, making you frown, but your lips quiver slightly.
You try to speak back, but the quickening of your heartbeat wouldn't stop, you slouch on your seat, one hand resting on your chest while you try making sense of this.
Why was your chest tightening? Why are you shaking? Why do you feel nauseous?
Realising the severity of the situation, he drops onto one knee infront of you, taking your hands into his, “your eyes are unfocused, breathe for me a bit, can you do that?” he talks you through every single second of it, watching the slightest changes of your breathing or the way you focus at his face, taking it all calmly for you, but he was serious about it.
"I'll help you finish your project," he offers, standing up from the ground, "you don't have to—"
"I want to." He insists, bringing both of his hands to grip the sides of your seat while leaning closer to you.
For god's sake, his face is too charming for your poor heart.
"And you're banned from taking any kinds of caffeine." He gives you a cat like smile, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead before walking past you to sort your papers out.

my silence is my cowardice
prompt - words left unsaid
including - boothill
warnings - gn!reader, slight fluff, angst no comfort, wc - 855
a/n: req by the lovely icarus ( @fxngtasy / @rusted-pride ) <3 -> "if the new years reqs are still open,,,, perchance,,,z, perhaps,,,,,,,,, boothill,,,,,,,? mayhaps? no pressure of course tho if theyve all filled up ^u^ he just seems like he might fit w some of the prompts"
boothill was never one for sentiments.
he wasn't even someone who was good with words, so holding a sentiment was rather out of the galaxy rangers field.
perhaps it was due to the fact that he was a galaxy ranger - they didn't exactly live the most social lifestyles. or maybe it was due to the fact that bounty hunting wasn't a job for those who liked to socialise and spend time with people.
but whatever it was, boothill was perfectly comfortable with drifting through the cosmo's on his own. when he had a goal in mind and knew how to achieve it, that was his priority. finding the scum who ruined his life was always going to be his priority until he completed it.
he never really thought that he'd have anyone else in his life that he cared about more than his late family. staying in one place was an impossible occurrence and so he never developed deeper bonds with people than a friendly face value - he knew some other galaxy rangers and were quite well acquainted with them, but that wasn't exactly the same.
and yet here you were.
boothill had stayed a bit too long on the current planet and became quite well acquainted with you, the local who had accommodated him and even helped him with finding his way around.
and even with what little actual time he had spent in your company, he'd grown very fond of your presence. so much so that it was still quite a shock to him just how much you'd grown on him.
boothill could even be attributed to still being in denial that you'd grown on him so much. but the truth was there.
and it was evident by many different factors. namely that boothill longed for presence, everytime you weren't near he found himself wondering what you could be doing or how long it would be before he saw you again.
frankly, it was quite unbecoming of him.
boothill didn't like it one bit. it wasn't like him to care this much about someone else, especially one who he hadn't known for that long and so, it scared him.
everytime he caught himself feeling any kind of positive emotion toward you, he caught himself and near forced himself to snap out of it. he couldn't afford to form attachments to people - and even if he could, he didn't know how and the constant fear of losing the ones he loved was a constant nagging in the back of his mind.
afterall, you can't lose what you can't have.
“are you sure we can't meet again or keep in contact?” you poised, staring at the cowboy as he prepared to make his departure
he let out a low chuckle and shook his head.
but he was lying, and saying it through his teeth would've made him feel worse about it. boothill could always visit you or even give you his contact but he couldn't bring himself to do either.
he desperately wanted to, but he had to hold himself back.
so he stayed silent - it seemed cold and much too distant to still be the man you'd known before. boothill feared that if he allowed himself to speak, he would not be able to depart and leave you behind. that he would start getting his feelings off his chest and establish his desired attachment to you.
but it was best for him to stay quiet. he wasn't ever good with words anyway.
he'd been close to people before to know what happens when they get ripped away from him. his entire world gone up in flames within seconds. having people to care about never ended well for him.
and it certainly wouldn't now either. he couldn't go through that again.
some may call it the coward's way out, himself included, but boothill bid his farewell with as little words as he possibly could and prepared himself to go about his life as usual, before he'd met you. but you could tell something was off and boothill could see it on your face.
it pained him, you clearly showed care and concern for him and yet here he was treating you like someone he'd hunt down. he closed his eyes and sucked in a harsh breath.
boothill left without another word or even glance in your direction.
a harsh farewell to someone he cared about deeply but couldn't face to stay around anymore.
he really was a coward.

🍋WHOLESOME/ COMFORT
just imagine putting hair clips in his hair. All you see is bunny, heart, and star hairclips. Since he loves you so much he would keep it in for the whole day, knowing that he's going to be judged about it but since you did it and you will be upset if he took them out he keeps it in his hair and ignores every mean comment about him. Unlike some people, there are others who are just confused, or concerned. All of the gossip and comment about it. It would probably make people less scared or think less of him than they already do and more concerned for his well being and wonder if he's lost a bet or something. But no, he just wants you to be happy, proud of what you did, and honored that he's even walking around like this, let alone put those clips in his hair. Once asked about it he would brush it off, ignore the question, come up with an excuse, or just flat out say it depending on his mood and his character. Closest friends making fun of how easy it is for you to have full on control over him, teasing him because its so easy for you to do things he would've never thought he would let anybody do. Then again, it is you so there's no saying no.

pspspsp fellow bootheng fan… what are ur hcs?
Ok I got a few:
I like the idea that like them both having "strange" aspects of their body (Dan Heng's imbibator lunae/vidyhara form, and Boothill being a cyborg) is something they find comfort in, and they both feel comfortable showing those aspects around each other yknow, I THINK ESPECIALLY DAN HENG WITH HIS VIDYHARA STUFF
ALSO DAN HENG AND BOOTHILL BOTH HAVE COLD BLOOD, BECAUSE CMON ITD BE SO SILLYAND PERFECT, AND THEY PROBABLY USE 50 BLANKETS.
I like the idea (and maybe ill write a fic abt this if anyone would want to read) of Boothill going to the Xianzhou and really enjoying visiting with Dan Heng, expericing where he grew up. I also think he'd adore Bailu, and try to whisk her away from the little group she stays with that alwyas have to catch her(im zoning out on their name).
I really like the idea also that he affirms Dan Heng's identity seperate from Dan Feng, and is kinda a High Cloud Quintent hater. LIKE THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO LOVES BLADE AND JING YUAN BTW I JUST THINK BOOTHILL WOULD KINDA HATE THEM, ESPECIALLY BLADE, IF HE EVER GOT TOLD ABOUT THAT STUFF.
I feel like they'd both really understand each other about their pasts, wanting to some extent leave their former identity in Boothill's case and wanting to leave his previous incarnation's identity in Dan Heng's case, and so they'd really be able to get each other in ways others might not.
I REALLY LIKE THE CONCEPT THAT BOOTHILL LIKES DOING DAN HENG'S HAIR WHEN HE'S IN HIS IMBIBATOR LUNAE FORM, AND HE LIKE BRUSHES IT OR BRAIDS IT NICELY OR SMTH, I THINK THAT'D BE SO CUTE.
I also feel like their the type of couple where Dan Heng almost never directly says they're dating, THEN BOOTHILL IS SUPER CASUAL ABOUT IT, just says boyfriend or nicknames 24/7 and it surprises people.
ALSO BOOTHILL USES PET NAMES. HE USES SO MANY PET NAMES. HE HAS HUNDREDS-NO THOUSANDS.
AND ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD: They occasionally sing together, or mainly Boothill enjoys humming tunes, and occasionally singing songs to himself he remembers or just enjoys, and Dan Heng ends up quietly joining. I IMAGINE THE FIRST TIME HE DID BOOTHILL WAS SURPRISE DAN HENG COULD SING RLLY WELL.
ANYWAYS HOPE THESE WERE GOOD, HAPPY TO FIND FELLOW BOOTHENG FANS <3

I am curious about your intersex transmasc Aventurine hcs

looking at you with my big autistic eyes — 🌹
AH YES!! Very happy to, I'm so glad you asked <33
While it's not all that fleshed out, I've worked this into his past and design a bit! It's def not necessary to explain his character but beyond the fact that I WANT to believe he's transmasc intersex I think that it enhances several parts of his character and doesn't contradict with anything we know about him. (TW for below the cut // mentions of CSA, aftermaths of CSA, vague suicidal ideations, gender dysphoria, and gender dysphoria caused by CSA. We get into iffy territory quickly, stay safe!)
What I'm defending: Aventurine uses he/she pronouns, grew up being treated as a girl, has lower female genitalia but otherwise/hormonally is widely masculine, and is infertile.
For starters, Aventurine has that voice. Y'know, the kind you only hear from gay men, certain trans people, tomboys, and early 2000s disney channel stars? He fits the queer phenomenon, but it could be explained by a hormonal imbalance causing difficulties with his voice dropping. He was never insecure about it, and certainly wasn't dysphoric with where his voice ended up. It's androgynous, pleasant, and something he can use to his advantage--he'd use any part of himself for an advantage.
In a strange way, despite now preferring masculine representation, I think he finds using she/her as a safe space. It's what his family referred to him as, it was how he dressed, and it was his role among the Avgins. He was his mother's little girl, and his sister's sister. When he's feeling his worst, he likes to present more femininely.
^ cont. In some cases where it might bring up bad memories, or make him feel vulnerable, it's a shield. It's him still being his father's Kakavasha. When he is Aventurine, he is a lie of Jade's creation, and one of his few choices with that image is his gender. He gets to be masculine, it's his freedom, but he also gets to choose femininity to stay connected to his past. It's a chain, but he's always had those. It's his choice to lock those cuffs around himself this time, it's familiar. His hold on his own gender frustrates even him, but he's got more pressing issues than figuring himself out. He might not even live that long before he kills himself dawg so whooooo ccaaaaarreeess (ME.) Anyways don't bring up his gender on twitter or smth they'd hate to see his intersex he/she transmasc sometimes willingly feminine presenting but always vaguely androgynous ass coming
Ahem. It also explains his comfort and connections with other female characters, too, and specifically how so many of his closest relationships are female or... well, incapable of sex. Topaz and Jade are technically, if not emotionally, safe spaces for him. His tenuous connection with Ratio, Sunday, Boothill, and possibly the trailblazer, goes past his tenuous connection with the world, it's because they're men. His relationship with Ratio is so complicated that I won't go into it, not that I'm an expert past reading a few essays anyways, but there's no doubt in my mind that Aventurine feels safe around him. He oscillates between believing Ratio despises him and that they're perfect allies. Boothill and his relationship hasn't been explored much on screen (but I'm writing a fanfic RN about them I can't stop I'm going crazy ive already published 17k words) but Boothill... well he aint got no dick. nor balls. Weenless, hateful, and his closest friend is a woman (Rappa), so I think they're okay, too. No elaboration on Sunday because I assume you've seen their interactions and no elaboration on the trailblazer because I believe in Stelle supremacy.
I would just genuinely not like to elaborate too much on my next point because it's repulsive, but I also believe being intersex in the way that he is would make Aventurine particularly valuable as the kind of entertainment slave he was kept as. Due to his hormonal disorder, his periods would be few and far between when he got them, plus there's no small chance he'd be infertile. As an object, he has easy upkeep.
Shallow addition, he is a smooth, short, effeminate man, with big beautiful eyes/eyelashes, and a soft jawline. Twice as beautiful as any cisman could hope to be.
There's the big points!! I have plenty of small headcanons that come up the more I think about him/write him, but I don't know how many I could pull off the top of my head. Thank you for the ask <3
#YAY YAY YAY my first (real) ask (from someone I don't know)#I have strong feelings about Aventurine

@kosodate asked: what would you say boothill's choice of beverage is?
can boothill drive? additionally: what kind of driver do you think he'd be?
does boothill have a favorite gun? how does he feel about firearms? does he believe you can win a gunfight with a knife?
any odd habits, quirks, and the like that he tries to keep under wraps or most don't know about?
what's his personal style like?
does he have any favorite stories he likes to share, either about himself or tall tales he's heard?
➔ CRACKS MY KNUCKLES- so in game he mentions malt juice. now i think due to censorship, they can't really call it what it is. whiskey. whiskey is classically known as a favored drink of cowboys- due to it being as readily available as it was. but i do think boothill also really likes beer, and other hard liquors. it's as much for him about trying to find a buzz from it- as it is the taste.
➔ can he drive... legally? no. no boothill isn't allowed to drive, and there was a point where he didn't know how to. but with all the chaos he's caused and the trouble he's made for the IPC- he's learned a thing or two. and he can pilot a ship, a small one though, something personal. ( i hc he has one of his own, a small cruiser he stole from an IPC owned bay ). in many cases i think he's a reckless driver- as in he's unpredictable, and doesn't always abide by the laws of the road. in a more modern setting through he's a good driver. very responsible.
➔ guns? guns... well. he loves his revolver, and i think it's one he grew up using and is very comfortable with. it's compact, easy to use, and one he knows. for him his weapon is an extension of himself in a way, excluding of course the fact his hand can turn into a gun as well. he even has a voice line where he gushes about how much he adores the revolver he uses, and all the modifications he's picked for it. he knows how to use plenty of others though; shotguns, rifles. but i think he'd find anything automatic to be a bit over the top and excessive. fun in short bursts, but nothing he'd use long term hahaha...
and no. if you bring a knife up against him. he will just shoot you in the foot.
➔ uhm. so i think i briefly mentioned this before- but boothill actually has a legitimate oral fixation. it's partially related to his pointed teeth, to the eating bullets, to his body producing new ones. but it's also in part due to the fact he can actually feel things in his mouth? if that makes sense. it's like a reminder sort of, that he's still there, that he's solid. and it grounds him. he tries not to do it, but he chews on things sometimes- bullets for one, he'll chew on screws too without even thinking about doing it. and sometimes he like... grinds his teeth. as best he can.
there's other small stuff too; he bounces his leg when he's sitting down for too long, and he's bored. it's habit- something from when he was still human. he'll tap his fingers along certain surfaces just for the sound. he plays with his gun, twirls it around and holsters it again to fidget. ect ect... idk. it's mostly things you'd only see if you spend a lot of time around him.
➔ his style is. well. i mean it's kind of what you see. he likes tighter fitted clothes, but not so tight it limits mobility. he likes blacks and reds, he likes brassy gold- smooth and sleek, but not too flashy. i want to say he's somewhat of a minimalist, but i think he's just old school. he likes the rustic feel of certain things, he likes leather, and the sound of spurs jingling as he walks. it's hard to describe without getting into every little detail- but i hope this makes sense...
➔ his favorite stories to share, are of his own adventures. telling stories he grew up hearing tends to dig into old wounds. so he isn't really eager to talk about the fables he heard as a boy. but he will share any he's heard about other people, that is they intrigue him enough; he's always fascinated with tales of survival, and mystery. of someone's strange adventures in even stranger places. and if they're worth remembering, he'll carry them with him and share them with others. his FAVORITE to share are of his exploits against the IPC- if people ask. otherwise he's much more likely to yammer on about his time in the wilderness. camping out on different planets with moons and stars he's never seen before then.

Memorable Cemeteries in Every State
Going to cemeteries suck. It’s never for a joyous occasion. They are one of the few places that humans face their mortality, which tends to make a lot of people uncomfortable. Pop culture has done a wonderful job of making cemeteries the focal point of horror films. From ghosts, to zombies, to vampires, odds are something bad is going down if there’s a cemetery scene in a movie. It’s about time we highlight cemeteries for something other than being the setting of a zombie apocalypse.
We decided to scour the internet to find the most memorable cemetery in every state. Every cemetery is unique, but these 50 stood out from the rest. Whether it be the architecture, the people buried there, or the history around the plot of land, each of these cemeteries has a cool story. Check out the list to see if you’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting any of these cemeteries.
Alabama
The biggest cemetery in Alabama is also the oldest cemetery in the state. Covering close to 100 acres, Maple Hill Cemetery is the final resting place of more than 80,000 people. Many U.S. congressmen and military figures are buried here. Maple Hill Cemetery is located in Huntsville, Alabama.
Alaska
In Eklutna, Alaska, there is a cemetery outside of the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Here, Russian and native Alaskan traditions merged, and out of the blend came what is called “spirit houses.” Families lay their loved ones to rest, then build a spirit house on top of the grave. It’s believed that the house brings comfort to the spirit.
Arizona
Tombstone, Arizona is considered, by some, to be the most haunted place in the state. In the mid 1800s, the town mined more than $80 million in silver bullion. Many residents suffered gruesome deaths and they were all buried in the Boothill Graveyard of Tombstone. Tombstone has been featured on Travel Channel’s “Ghost Adventures” and the Syfy series “Ghost Hunters.”
Arkansas
Evergreen Cemetery in Fayetteville is one of the largest historical cemeteries in Arkansas. Evergreen was originally a family cemetery on the Thomas family farm. It has now grown to cover over ten acres and holds more than 3,000 bodies. One exceptionally interesting story of this Arkansas cemetery is that of Adeline Blakeley. Blakeley was a former slave who chose to stay with the family that enslaved her even after the Civil War ended. She continued to work for the family, but was considered to be a family member. When Blakeley died at 95, the family wanted her to be buried at the family plot in Evergreen, but at the time it was a white-only cemetery. There are two stories about how she was accepted as the first African American to be buried in the cemetery. One is that Blakeley was so well-liked by the entire community that they allowed her to be laid to rest with her family. The other is that the family kept the casket closed and told everyone it was their aunt they were burying. Either way, this is a phenomenal story.
California
So many celebrities are buried in Hollywood. Forest Lawn Memorial in Glendale particularly sticks out because it’s the oldest cemetery in Tinseltown. Celebrities including Nat King Cole, Jimmy Stewart, Gracie Allen, Sam Cooke, Theodore Dreiser, Clark Gable and Michael Jackson are all buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Colorado
Riverside Cemetery opened in 1876 in Denver. It was designed to be such a beautiful cemetery that families would spend the day enjoying the scenery while visiting their loved ones. Unfortunately, Denver took a different turn and industrialized much of the surrounding area, turning the countryside into highways. Many people exhumed the bodies of their family members and took them to a more peaceful location.
Connecticut
Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford, Connecticut is known for its incredible sculptures and monuments throughout the grounds. There’s an 18-foot pink-granite pyramid and a lifesize statue of an angel erected in memory of Mark and Angelina Howard. A monument commemorating Cynthia Talcott, who passed away at age two, has her face beautifully engraved in stone. One notable burial at Cedar Hill is Horace Wells, the discoverer of anesthesia.
Delaware
Coffee Run Cemetery not only has a pretty unique name, but it also stands out because it is the burial ground of the first Catholic church in Delaware. This is a very small cemetery with only 50 graves, 12 of them being unmarked. The cemetery has been plagued with arson that destroyed the keeper’s house and barn.
Florida
The first Key West Cemetery in Florida was destroyed by hurricane in 1846. Bodies resurfaced and high winds and water scattered the bodies throughout the area. The new cemetery was established one year later. To keep this tragedy from happening again, many bodies are buried in above ground vaults and there is a high water table.
Georgia
Savannah is an awesome city, so it’s only fitting that there are incredible cemeteries. Bonaventure Cemetery, just east of Savannah, became famous when it was featured in Clint Eastwood’s film “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.” John Muir, “The Father of Natural Parks”, stayed in Bonaventure for six days and nights during his travels to Florida.
Hawaii
The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, also known as the Punchbowl Cemetery, is located in Honolulu. It was created to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Before the cemetery opened, the remains of veterans from Guam, Wake Island and Japanese Internment Camps were transported to Punchbowl to serve as their final resting place.
Idaho
Morris Hill Cemetery is in Boise, Idaho. The burial ground was purchased by the city’s mayor in 1882. The causes of death among those first buried at Morris are quite different than what’s common today. It’s noted that some of these people died from falling rocks and trees, snow slides, softening of the brain, and constipation. One lady buried here particularly sticks out: Annie “Peg Leg” Monroe. During the time of the Gold Rush, Monroe was a brothel owner. Apparently, she got stuck in a snowstorm, caught frostbite, and had to have both of her legs amputated. The park is open for self-guided walking tours.
Illinois
Woodlawn Cemetery is located in Forest Park, Illinois. One section of the cemetery is called Showmen’s Rest. On June 22, 1918 a train traveling from Detroit to Chicago plowed into the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus train. The train’s engineer, the only passenger, allegedly fell asleep. Around 60 circus members were killed and were all buried in Showmen’s Rest because it was purchased specifically for members of the The Showmen’s League of America. Many of those that were killed were never identified. A majority of the markers read “unidentified male” and “unidentified female.” Apparently, members of circuses still choose to be buried there to this day.
Indiana
Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis is the third largest non-governmental cemetery in the nation. The burial grounds covers 555 acres and there are over 200,000 people buried there. In the 1800s it became a popular location for recreational activities including picnics and walks through the park. Visitors enjoy beautiful views of the city from the grounds.
Iowa
Vegors Cemetery in Lehigh, Iowa was originally used by Native Americans as a burial ground. When white settlers came into the area, many battles ensued. The settlers eventually won and took control of the sacred burial ground. They removed the Native American remains, destroyed the burial mounds, and began to use it as their own cemetery. Years later, Native American remains were returned to the cemetery and a monument was dedicated in their honor.
Kansas
Stull Cemetery, located in Lecompton, Kansas, was listed on CBS News’ list of most haunted places in America. The University of Kansas student newspaper wrote an article about Stull Cemetery claiming that the devil visits the cemetery twice a year, on Halloween and the Spring Equinox. Four years after the article was published, on March 20, 1978 over 150 people came to the cemetery to wait for the devil’s arrival. There were no reports of any sightings that night.
Kentucky
Pikeville Cemetery in Pikeville, Kentucky is known for a chilling story. In 1891, Octavia and James Hatcher welcomed their first child. Unfortunately, the baby soon passed away and Octavia grew ill and fell into a coma. Shortly thereafter, doctors pronounced her dead. Since it was a hot day, James buried her immediately. Other community members began falling into comas, but they survived. James realized that maybe Octavia was still alive when she was buried. They exhumed her body and saw scratch marks on the roof of the casket and Octavia had bloody fingers. Yikes.
Louisiana
Saint Louis Cemetery No. 1 is one of the famous cemeteries in New Orleans. Marie Laveau, the notorious voodoo practitioner, is buried in her husband’s family tomb in this cemetery. Legend says that Marie Laveau will grant you a wish if you mark three x’s on the tomb, turn around three times and yell out your wish. If it comes true, you must come back and mark a circle around the x’s. To prevent vandalism, the public is no longer allowed to visit the cemetery without a tour guide.
Maine
Mount Hope Cemetery in Bangor, Maine is one of the locations Stephen King used to shoot the horror film “Pet Sematary.” Mount Hope is 184 years old and was America’s second garden cemetery.
Maryland
Green Mount Cemetery is located in Baltimore. The cemetery was dedicated in 1839 and is the final resting place of important historical figures, like John Wilkes Booth. Visitors ironically leave pennies on his grave, because it has Abraham Lincoln’s face on it. There are intricate statues and monuments throughout the cemetery. Tourists can schedule a walking tour of the grounds.
Massachusetts
Charter Street Cemetery in Salem, founded in 1637, is the oldest cemetery in the town. Important members of the early community are buried in this cemetery. Directly behind the cemetery is the Salem Witch Trial Memorial. Both are open to the public from dawn to dusk.
Michigan
Elmwood Cemetery in Detroit has been awarded a wide array of certifications. It’s the oldest continuously running, non-denominational cemetery in the state. Since there are so many abolitionists buried in Elmwood, the cemetery’s foundation decided to fulfill the requirements to become a significant site for the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom by the National Park Service of the United States Department of the Interior.
Minnesota
Oakland Cemetery in St. Pauls is the oldest public cemetery in Minnesota. It was founded five years before Minnesota became a state, in 1853. The first plots sold for just $3.15. In 1870, survivors of the Civil War organized Decoration Day, what is now known as Memorial Day, at Oakland Cemetery. More than 1,500 veterans are buried at this cemetery.
Mississippi
There are many interesting tombstones and monuments in Natchez City Cemetery in Natchez, Mississippi, but one tomb stands out from the rest. Florence Ford was only ten when she died from yellow fever in 1871. Apparently, Florence was always scared of storms. In order to comfort her in the afterlife, her mother had Florence’s casket built with clear glass at the head and steps that went down to the level of the casket. Overhead, the doors closed to protect her mother from the storm. The contraption is still visible today, but the glass was covered with cement to prevent vandalism.
Missouri
Mineral Creek Cemetery in St. Louis Prairie has an interesting origin story. A couple was traveling West with their young children. Unfortunately, one of the children passed away while they were passing through this small town. Much of the area is covered with tall prairie grass, but the town was constructing a new church, so that area was clear. The couple gained permission from the church to bury their child on the property. From there on, people began to bury their loved ones at the church and the congregation took take of the cemetery until it grew too large for them to continue to do so.
Montana
On June 8, 1917, 168 men were killed in the Spectacular Mine disaster in Butte, Montana. A fire was ignited by a carbide lamp. Most of the men died of asphyxiation, but some survived for a couple days in the tunnels. A few lucky men were rescued after being stuck underground for 55 hours. The remains of the men were buried in Mountain View Cemetery where there is a memorial to the victims of the disaster.
Nebraska
Ball Cemetery in Springfield, Nebraska is said to be guarded by William “Rattlesnake Pete” Liddiard. One small catch: Rattlesnake Pete is dead. He was a United States Marshal who left his hometown to join the famous “Buffalo Bill” on the road. Although he died along the West Coast, his body was returned to Springfield. According to local legend, he now he patrols the perimeter of the cemetery and appears to unwanted visitors as a dark shadow.
Nevada
Goldfield Historic Cemetery in Goldfield, Nevada is one of the many ghost town cemeteries located in the state. Although visitors would never guess it today, Goldfield was one of the largest mining towns in the country. It’s known as “The Last Great Gold Camp.” Many of the headstones describe how the person died: “Gunshot By Deputy Sheriff”, “Man Died Eating Library Paste.”
New Hampshire
The two victims of the Smuttynose Island murders are buried in South Cemetery of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Three immigrant women were left alone on the island off the coast of New Hampshire. One woman got away from the attacker and she was able to identify him and the man was later hanged for his crimes.
New Jersey
The Old Tennent Cemetery in Manalapan, New Jersey was established in 1731. It’s said that a Revolutionary War battle occurred in 1778 on the cemetery grounds, and the church was used as a makeshift hospital. The battle was called the Battle of Monmouth after the county Manalapan is in.
New Mexico
Fairview Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico has become overrun by a prairie dog colony. These rodents sought refuge in the cemetery after construction drove them out of their original habitat. The prairie dogs have created a series of tunnels, which has resulted in the resurfacing of remains of the people buried there. The groundskeeper has taken matters into his own hands by using poisonous gas and a pellet gun to kill off the rodents.
New York
Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow is the cemetery and town that inspired Washington Irving’s “Sleepy Hollow.” The town was originally known as North Tarrytown, but was changed in 1996 to honor Irving. Along with Elizabeth Arden, the makeup entrepreneur, and Walter Chrysler, the founder of the car company, Irving is also buried here.
North Carolina
Salem Moravian Graveyard, located in Salem, North Carolina is also known as God’s Acre. Every Moravian cemetery takes on this nickname. What sets this cemetery apart from others is that, following Moravian tradition, every headstone is exactly the same: a flat white plaque. This is because this Protestant sect believes that everyone has the same level of importance in God’s eyes; in death, all are equal. Over its course of 250 years in existence, over 7,000 people have been buried in God’s Acre of Salem.
North Dakota

When patients would die while admitted to the hospital, families were able to make their own arrangements, but if the family could not be contacted or if they refused to come, the patient would be buried on hospital grounds. The headstones given to the deceased have no names or dates, only the patient’s hospital number. There are 1,930 men and women buried at The Ridges.
Oklahoma
Violet Springs Cemetery in Konawa, Oklahoma is the final resting place of a woman named Katherine Cross. According to her headstone, she was 18 when she died and she was “murdered by human wolves.” That’s a pretty cryptic message, but historians say that Cross actually died from a botched abortion, not werewolves.
Oregon
Lone Fir Cemetery in Portland, Oregon is the city’s oldest and largest cemetery. The land was originally owned by James and Elizabeth Stephens; James’ father was buried on the property. The Stephens sold their farm to Colburn Barrel, who owned a steamboat. Years after, Barrel’s steamboat exploded, killing his business partner and many others. Barrel buried the victims alongside James’ father and thus began the Lone Fir Cemetery. It has grown to span over 30 acres and there are over 250,000 people buried in this Portland cemetery.
Pennsylvania
Hankey Church Cemetery in Murrysville, Pennsylvania is supposedly where a pastor of the Hankey Church was hanged for adultery in the 19th century.
Rhode Island
Mercy Brown is a pivotal figure in the New England Vampire Panic. In the 19th century, tuberculosis was spreading like wildfire. The people of New England began to believe that when a family member died from tuberculosis, they drained the rest of their family with the sickness in order to hang on to life, thus being a vampire. The only way to prevent the rest of the family from suffering the disease was to exhume the “vampire’s” body. If they still had blood in their organs or they were still in the early stages of decomposition, although they had been dead for a while, they were considered to be a vampire. From there, the body’s organs were removed and burned, and occasionally decapitated. In Brown’s case, her body was burnt, her remains were mixed with water, and given to her brother to drink to keep the sickness from attacking his body. It obviously didn’t work.
South Carolina
The St. Philip’s Cemetery in Charleston, South Carolina was created for the first congregation in the state, the St. Philip’s Episcopal Church. One interesting story about the property is that in the 18th century, the church suffered a fire. A slave extinguished the fire before the entire church was engulfed. For this heroic act, the slave was awarded his freedom.
South Dakota
Mount Moriah Cemetery is found in Deadwood, South Dakota. It was created to suit the growing population during the Gold Rush. Texas
Baby Head Cemetery is located in what is now known as Llano, Texas. The cemetery and town, that was also formerly known as Baby Head, were named after Baby Head Mountain. Utah
Ogden City Cemetery in Ogden, Utah stands out because of its breathtaking scenery. This is a place anyone could rest eternally for the beautiful views alone. The cemetery was established in 1851.
Vermont
Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven, Vermont is a pretty standard cemetery, aside from Dr. Timothy Clark’s tomb. Dr. Clark lived in fear of being buried alive. To prevent his worst nightmare from coming true, he installed an underground staircase that leads to the surface of his grave. He was buried with a breathing tube and a bell. At the surface level of his grave, he had a clear window installed so he could be checked in on. He died in 1893 and apparently he really was dead because he didn’t use his escape route.
Virginia
The Alexandria National Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia was one of the country’s first national cemeteries. It mainly serves as burial grounds for Union soldiers. It’s lack of vacancy during, and after, the Civil War is what led to the opening of the Arlington National Cemetery.
Washington

Wisconsin
Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee was established in 1847. It was later discovered that this land was also a Paleo Indian burial ground. The cemetery has over 60 earthworks, or mounds that hold the bodies of early Native Americans. This cemetery is so rich in history, holding the bodies of famous politicians and mayors as well as Jacob Best, the founder of Pabst Brewing Company.
Wyoming
