Not entirely sure how to explain this but, "Going to an event alone" and "Going to an event with my friends" are two completely different activities (and both are very valid)

When I'm going somewhere with my friends, my main goal is having a good time with my friends while goofing around, making fun memories and an all in all bonding together.

If I'm going somewhere alone, i'm there to concentrate on the event itself, let it be listening to the music, analysing a play or just chilling in a different environment.

When I graduated art school, I noticed most ‘successful’ working artists were 35 and older, so I gave myself the breathing room to not need to be amazing immediately. Today I turn 35. I have several published books, covers and other amazing things I’ve made. I’m just getting started!

The growth has been steady, and I’m really glad I took the time to “find myself”. (Turns out comics ARE a viable career path….)

It's time for warm, cozy vibes, lovelies!!

Day 1 - Candlelight

Sky kicked off his steel toed boots as he closed the door to his abode. The air held a chill to it, and he turned off the fans, shivering a hair. Exhaustion pulled at him, making his eyes burn and his head ache. He sniffled a little, worn thin, but he smiled nonetheless, leaning against the door.

His eyes caught something on the counter - it was a gift from Time and Malon that he had gotten for his birthday. It was a simple gift, a scented candle, but it meant the world to the pilot. On a night like tonight, where he decided that for once it was time to just take care of himself and not care about anything, it was the perfect gift.

Sky sifted through his junk drawer for a moment, eyes stinging a little from the bright lights he' turned on. After finding a torch, he lit the candle and dimmed the lights to a cozier setting. The candle burned cheerfully and gently, its flame steadfastly still in its battle against the surrounding darkness. Sky wrapped a blanket around himself and settled heavily on the sofa, letting the warmth settle into his bones. The candle's scent filled the air, smelling of pine and damp grass, of earth and soil and flowers carried in the breeze, of the ranch and Time and his brothers and home.

He wanted to just live in this moment forever. With his eyes closed, Sky let himself float in peace, his heart rate slowing to a steady, calm rate, his muscles relaxing. The silence was deafening and comforting, his mind rattled and whirled until it settled as cricket song from outside slowly made its way through the windows, entwining with the scent of the candle and making a pillow for his weary thoughts to rest upon and settle.

Sometimes living alone could be hard. But sometimes having some time alone was exactly what Sky needed.
