I have this very firm image in my Reincarnation AU of Bill and Stanford meeting for the first time and Reincarnated Human!Bill still not thoroughly grasping just how much he fucked up Ford's life (it's probably been less than a few days since he's started remembering things again?) and something clicks and Ford realizes who he's talking to and it's just:
".... You!? 😨"
"Sixer! 🥰"
"You. 😐"
"... Sixer?"
"You. 😡"
".... F-Fordsy?"
"YOU. 🤬"
".... OH SHIT."
*smash cut to Ford chasing down human!Bill (who's running for his life) (Ford is being rightfully angry about how he was treated)*
#Bill Reincarnation AU#gravity falls#bill cipher#stanford pines#billford#this Bill is definitely different than the canon one but that's due entirely to being raised as a mostly well adjusted human#he doesn't really grasp just how awful he was until much later#Birch and Pines AU

ive been thinking about the "trans dipper and mabel" thing.
for the unaware, theyre identical twins, so one of them must be trans, or at least they would be if biology worked the same way in cartoons) someone said that dipper clearly isnt happy with his masculinity, so he can't be a trans boy, thus mabel is trans (and also dipper will come out as a trans woman later.
while im obviously not arguing to deny someone her headcanon!!! i want to say in defense of transmasc dipper, he isn't happy with his masculinity because it's incomplete. he wishes his voice was deeper, he wishes he was taller. He's clearly awaiting male puberty. His struggle reminds me personally of the way trans men struggle to prove their masculinity, but its not a permanent struggle, or even if it was, most people would struggle even more if they tried detransitioning anyway.
the way dipper has to learn some lessons, like being vulnerable (lamb costume) and disliking someone quietly like a girl (fighting over wendy) isn't necessarily proof of transfemininity either. many men, cis or trans, who try to overcompensate their masculinity with their personality, will pick up toxic habits that are seen as stereotypically male, but do not serve them, and will need to unlearn them at a point when they're comfortable in their masculinity, and the examples above are very common. the reverse can apply to femininity too imo (like being scared of people seeing youre competent at something women are "supposed" to be incompetent at)
anyway, transmasc dipper and transfem dipper theorists, lets coexist peacefully <3 and thanks for reading
#gravity falls#dipper pines#edit: im gonna be honest i mostly wrote this post because i was feeling insecure and dysphoric about some of the ways i relate to dipper#due to someones headcanon which is kinda silly except the verdict was so definitive#and i keep falling for 'someone claiming my blorbo as trans in the opposite way to mine is giving me dysphoria' lmao#but i imagine the people who were doing transfem dipper were feeling the same just reverse about transmasc dipper#btw when i said 'someone said' i was referring to a transfem egg meme going around with i think 9 male characters and dipper was one of the#it has a few notes and the 'suffering with masculinity means youre a woman' was in the comments#and i mean sometimes that correlates but sometimes it doesnt. so i wanted to do a longer reply to expand on that in a non definitive way#and sort of encourage people to concider what is and isnt a sign that you should transition#i mean ultimately noones gonna tell you#but yea#i hate the heated arguements that keep happening so i hope this is a nice refresher of calmly explaining my point#and its an invitation for anyone to do the same because we need communication we are the same community!!!

man if i had the engergy to write fics. the things id do to fiddleford.. oh man the things id do..
#to me hes very; incredibly repressed gay man who was definitely very in love with ford in college then proceeded to get married to a woman#so he would stop thinking about it because him and ford were just 'college buddies' and 'only kissed a few times when they were really#intoxicated and isnt that a funny story haha' so the first chance he got he just convinced himself he was in love with his wife#because thats what he was supposed to do hes supposed to get married and have kids and provide for his family thats#how its supposed to be- and i do think he loves his family and loves his wife like they were probably friends before getting married#but then ford calls him up again after so long and he just drops everything to *be there for him* like not even because he wants to do it#for science he wants to do it for *ford* and then time goes on out there and the feelings resurface#and i like to think that when the fight he had with his wife over the christmas present that was the moment he finally realized#that hes just been in love with ford this whole time or at least that he wants to go back to him so bad that he just gets on the last plane#back to gravity falls and goes back to ford and as things get worse he just starts breaking down because hes thinking he wasted his whole#life that hes married he cant go back now probably also a lot of internalized homophobia just having the worst time while#fords off with his little triangle bf and starts getting a little colder towards him near before he left and so#after all that after the portal test hes just completely shattered even without the memory gun bc hes just like i ruined my life i think my#wife hates me and ford is just acting insane he wasnt like this before and i did this all for him this could be the end of the world#and so then just a couple of zap zap zaps later and hes old man mcgucket local cook haha! anyway yeah i have to#do some of my physics homework tomorrow its due Tuesday

this killed my artblock okay
well.
the hyperfixation created something something au, so....yeah.
AU where the whole Book of Bill and the backstory doesn't change at all, but instead of just putting bill into space therapy, the AXOLOTL also creates...uh.
This guy.
Not a twin, not a second chance, not a reincarnation.
This Bill, or "Nick" (chosen by Mabel because he's got a nicked side from le punch) is more of a "what couldve been" alternate created for the purpose of being a test or an example for the real bill. Everything Bill was SUPPOSED to develop personality wise before the collapse of his dimension...but with his memories sill intact from that moment. It's not a restart and memory loss thing, but more of a coping and learning to heal, starring the Pines family losing their minds over what seems like o be a lookalike of the evil dorito man.
Again....his only purpose was to show the real Bill what could have been, if his coping methods weren't as....unhinged and destructive. So he wasn't intentionally supposed to be a long-term friend or anything to the town of Gravity Falls.
....but things change.
Things change.
some more info stuff under the cut about this au :D
Nick is nervous, anxious, uses humor to cope, and a bit mischevious (bit of the og Bill there), but takes out his trauma/guilt on art and creating instead of destructive tendencies. He frequently likes to throw up murals and run off.
He has multiple self-care issues. Just in general because of his memories and because of his fractured physical state.
He had to do a LOT of work to gain the Pine's trust. Obviously. but he would definitely get along with Mable and, though it would take a lot more time, Dipper. Because....Dipper. The Book of Bill really showcased how pissed Dipper was with Bill's actions.
The Pines don't like to call him Bill because...bad association with that name. Hence the name Nick, because they kinda think its not REALLY bill. just a less fucked up version
His powers are limited and fractured due to being an altered form. He can't levitate, warp reality, or be considered immortal. however, he still IS Bill Cipher....so all that may be buried in there somewhere.
Bro has a LOT of stuff to work through and unpack.

i need to know how donnie fared being pregant...pregante even. i promise this is not a weird thing or intended to be ijust like babies.
there were definitely ups and downs and all that. donnie's main coping mechanism throughout pretty much the entire experience was just treating it a little like a science experiment-- he records every symptom, every milestone, every discovery, etc. keeps him from thinking too hard and then getting stuck in his head.
he also nests pretty hard, as pictured above, and goes through an absolutely horrendous morning sickness period for the first two and a half months or so. rough time for vomitello.
overall, i think he copes pretty well? has a really robust support system behind him throughout the whole thing and felt good about the decision he and his partner made, even if the whole thing was a... surprise, but i think he finds it a lot easier to kind of distance himself from the entire experience and frame it somewhat clinically? it just feels like a lot otherwise.
donnie ends up really enjoying being a parent and absolutely adores his daughters once they arrive, but just overall did not particularly enjoy the experience of having eggs. grumpy boy the whole way through.
(^ their outward appearance doesn't change very noticeably during pregnancy, due to the nature of their turtle anatomy, but their center of gravity shifts pretty dramatically and they lose their balance/fall down/trip, like... a LOT. even grumpier boy.)
... he also finds coping with hormones and the influx of emotions that come with them to be... difficult.

PLEASE tell me about your au with Bill's parents for the love of god. I am SO invested, you have no idea
HOYAAA it's still in the works (mainly bc I've been super busy with schoo... and I've been getting back into actually characterizing Bill somewhat accurately (i hope;;;)) BUT HERES SOME STUFFIES!

This AU officially has a name! FALLEN STARS! Wowie! I'm creative!
So this AU does focus mainly on Bill's relationship with his parents but also his past self. "His past self?? How is that possible!! Insanity!!!"
The AU takes place in Gravity Falls, but it's heavily changed due to Bill's influence - Theraprism did not help Bill, it broke him. Making Bill face his past and try to heal it made everything worse, and instead of moving on, Bill wanted to go back. Bill escapes theraprism and begins total domination 2.0, but not in hopes of making that dimension Party City, but in hopes of making it Euclydia.
Confronting his past made Bill miss it, made Bill want to remember what happened and what his childhood was like - what better way than to recreate that? Earth is a perfect starting point. He's observed it for hundreds of years, he knows the in's and out's of it, he definitely learned from Weirdmageddon - it was perfect.
And it does happen. A corporeal form was all Bill needed, and with a few ropes pulled and a few hands shaken, he had it, and he had the world. It starts immediately, with golden strings descending from seemingly the heavens cascading Earth, pulling at the dimensions and turning mountains and oceans into deserts, flattening the land, and collapsing buildings onto an X-axis. Humans and animals were not spared - many turning into shapes themselves, a morbid version of the Euclydian's that roamed Bill's home dimension.
Gravity Falls was the small oasis of hope. What was once something that kept the weirdness in, it now kept the weirdness out, the pressure of weirdness being much too great for the ring surrounding Gravity Falls to let in. Although Gravity Falls was safe for the time being, that did not stop Bill's influence - and as time went on, Gravity Falls was slowly becoming altered.
With this AU taking place a few years in the future, Stanford and Stanley are still around, albeit rather slow in their older ages. Stanford, having been at the shack for a much needed rest out on the ocean with his twin, was the first to notice the changes of Earth and had begun extensive research on what could be happening. As far as he was concerned, this was an anomally of such great magnitude, something akin to a God's work. Bill Cipher was not on the radar - he was presumed dead, or at least, locked away far, far from Earth and monitored by elite personnel. But after seeing the changes made, it becomes all too apparent just who is behind it all.
Days and months passed with no signs of progress. By then, all the Pines and fellow zodiac members had been notified of what was happening, but even they had no idea on what to do. Nothing could be done if they couldn't find Bill - and he was no where to be found. That was until one evening, when Mabel Pines ventures out on another search to find anything that might help - or just to observe what all has changed and to report on it.
This search proves fruitful, as she finds a small, yellow triangle among the other shapes in town. With large sneakers on his feet and a wandering, large eye, the small triangle looks lost as he waddles around the other shapes. His big eye is full of wonder as he stares at the buildings in the town, and Mabel's own eyes fill with her own wonder as she approaches the child.
Mabel hardly gets a word out before he's firing off question after question about Gravity Falls and her appearance.
Bill Cipher, in his desperation to feel what he did when he was a child, to view how his childhood was, created a new version of himself - one that acted independently and as he once did a trillion years ago. A version of himself that clung to his mother and hid behind his father, a version of himself that looked "up" with stars gazing back at him.
And that wasn't the only Euclydian he created. His mother and father, having been looking for their missing son, pull him into open arms, nearly sobbing at the fear of losing him in an unfamiliar place. The mother, Scalene, pushes her son to her chest, sobbing, "Oh-! Billy, you had me fearing the worse! Don't do that to your mother, my heart won't take it."
Bill's mom and dad act as a guardian to "Billy," protecting him from harm as any parent would do. Euclide, Bill's father, although sweet and kind to Bill, is far more assertive than Scalene. His role in the story is a protector of Billy, to a degree that is more physical than emotional.
Scalene, on the other hand, is there to protect her son from emotional harm. She cares for Billy's well-being and adopts a "motherly" role to Mabel upon their first meeting (as she assumes Mabel is also lost). During the course of the AU, Scalene and Mabel grow very close!
Now! Billy. oh dear. This kid has issues. Despite his mother trying her hardest to protect his mental well-being, it does not stop him from constantly worrying and living in fear. Whereas the stars he once saw twinkling softly in the sky offered some comfort, the large eye that constantly monitored him was eerie and nerve-wracking.
-
The youngest Cipher looks towards the sky, his large pupil dancing across the constellations that decorated the night. It eased his nerves. Being in an unfamiliar environment with beings that towered above him was different. But the stars, the stars were what he remembered them to be.
-
Billy is the only being on Earth that can see Bill hovering above it (a parallel to how Bill was the only Euclydian to see the stars). Humans nor Euclydians can see Bill, and this causes Billy to deal with this alone. It makes him anxious and afraid, but with the help of his parents, he does find peace.
When Billy comes into contact with Mabel, it's an instant connection thanks to Mabel's sweater, and Billy attempts to confide in Mabel about THE GIANT HOVERING EYE IN THE SKY, but is ultimately shot down when Mabel expresses her confusion.
-
Billy grasps at Mabel's sweater, the soft fibers feeling foreign in his small palm. He is meek, small, near unsure of himself as he gazes at Mabel's form on the ground. "Can you see it?"
Through her tears, Mabel gazes at him, confusion clouding her features. It? The black that seeped through her fingers? The human she attempted to save that now lie on the ground as a Euclydian? What was "It?" "...See what?"
Billy's eye creases. He is upset by her own question, and Mabel cowers in on herself as a result. She was frail and vulnerable at the moment, the last thing she wanted was to make this child cry again. But as Billy looks upward, pupil shaking for a split second before it darts to the ground, she realizes he couldn't answer.
-
BOOP! Like i said! Heavy emphasis on Bill's own personal relationships with his mom and dad. Mabel and Dipper also have major roles ofc (with Mabel having direct contact and close access to Scalene and Billy). Dipper is more so at Ford's side trying to find ways to reverse the effects of Bill's influence, but he does become a more major character alongside Mabel.
I should really draw it 💀 BUUUUT IM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT AXY AND THE HENCHMANIACS ROLE IN THIS
Also Bill totally rubs it in Axy's face that he's free from Theraprism.
-
Pink flesh meets a black leather-like hand, the fingers grasping at the soft flesh of the God's cheek and forcing him closer. Bill holds out a small crystal, it's glow nearly blinding compared to the stars that hung in the sky. "LOOK AXY! I GOT YA' A MATCHING PARTICLE HAHA!"

Gravity Falls x Carmen Sandiego AU where Stan is an international super thief and Ford is trying to catch him.
More of the au under the cut!!
The CSxGF au (Carmen Sandiego x Gravity Falls) is an alternate universe in modern setting where the characters follow a similar/inspired plot and trope of Carmen Sandiego. It is basically the characters of Gravity Falls, but with the theme of Carmen Sandiego hehe. Definitely took some elements from that show ofc.
Characters and their roles:
Stanley Pines - (Carmen Sandiego)
Ford Pines - (Chase Devineaux)
Fiddleford McGucket - (Julia Argent)
more to come later obviously!!
Slight Background:
Stanley still got kicked out at seventeen and lived on the streets for a while before he got selected and offered a place in VILE. He was already good at theft and all that but his skills improved greatly at VILE. Later when he realised the organisation went beyond just theft to more diabolical things he listened to his moral compass and left. He’s not so homeless anymore cause he sorta stole money from VILE before he left. Sought quick refuge with Shermie’s family first for a few days to get a plan going. Somehow managed to have his nephew offer to hack for him. Ran into Carla later, then recruited Dan when they were making a pit stop at Oregon. Later established a home base at Gravity Falls. Much like Carmen who got her name inspired by a brand, Stan’s alias is named after his car, El Diablo. Wears his signature maroon red coat.
For Ford, everything happens as it does, Stanley gets kicked out and Ford goes to Backupsmore and so on with his life. However, Ford hears about Stanley stealing and being a wanted thief across the globe eventually. Feeling like he has a responsibility to bring Stanley down he attempts to join the Police Force. ACME notices him before he does and recruits him easily due to his intellect and skills. He later calls up Fiddleford and convinces ACME to hire him too.
Cue shenanigans of them trying to catch Stan and fumbling every time.
(Also some angst with plot that I’m cooking but will reveal later)
Also Big Thank You to @skamb3ll for helping me with ideas hehe I love u so much!!

Random Lucanis hcs
His love for Rook is a different kind of possession. Of course, love was always something he yearned for. He just didn't expect to be so utterly taken by it. Normally, there are activities he'd usually reserve for himself, but he finds himself still wanting Rook to be there with him. He knows he should trust Rook to take care of themself, yet there's an immovable uneasiness that's hard to banish that sits at the back of his mind. It causes him to be hyper-vigilant where he should be focused. Mierda. And he thought Spite was the only one he had to worry about.
Unexpectedly becomes somewhat acquainted with Antoine and Evka. At first, this was just him doing some reconnaissance for the contract. As time passes, the discussions shift. Antoine mentions his history as a servant in Orlais. Lucanis talks about the contracts he's taken there. Then Evka mentions how Antoine threw a sweet roll at a werewolf. Lucanis is perplexed and intrigued all at once. This may be his favorite couple. He walks away with some interesting vulgar Orlesian phrases to add to his logbook lmao
Due to Spite's influence, his sense of smell has become a lot more keen than he's used to. He's also developed a type of olfactory-visual synesthesia, where smelling something triggers him seeing certain colors. Of course, this makes cooking interesting. Citrus-based fruits have brightly colored scents. Non-citrus fruits have less vibrant colors to their scent. So on and so forth. This can be overwhelming, of course. Adds on to his already present achy eye problems. Luckily, this is only in effect an hour or two after using any of Spite's powers. It's longer lasting after Spite possesses him, willing or not.
Nsfw under the cut
NSFW Rookanis HCs as a treat
Favors using his fingers/hands to pleasure Rook because he's able to focus on their every expression. There's nothing he enjoys more than to feel them fall apart. He's all about keeping eye contact during, as well. It's intense, and so, so loving. He looks at Rook as if they are the one holding him down and not gravity.
Lucanis's attentiveness definitely extends to the bedroom. Sometimes, he likes to play the part of an absent-minded lover. Why? Mostly to hear Rook beg and plead with him. Also, he likes being a little shit. It's hard to ignore his instinct to touch where he knows Rook likes to be touched, to kiss where they like to be kissed. It's worth seeing them pout and squirm, though!
He looks at them with a smirk he somehow manages to make look apologetic. "Forgive me. It's nice to hear you complain, sometimes."
While Lucanis appreciates when Rook is so adamant on gaining his explicit consent whenever he wants to take the lead, he's intent on showing Rook he isn't made of glass. Sometimes, it works out great. He delights in discovering which spots make Rook sigh in pleasure, which spots make them reach an earth-shattering end. However, there are times when it leads to him biting off more than he can chew. He gets overwhelmed, touch-averse, and isn't content with the idea of sex for a while. Even here, the Ossuary is still something that haunts him, and it frustrates him greatly.

Clark Pines AU random headcanons
-sometimes Stan and Ford pull the "switch clothes and talk differently to see if anyone can tell the difference" trick to mess with the twins, and they fall for it a solid 35% of the time, but Clark never falls for it because he can hear their hearts and Ford's heart is FUCKED UP due to the gazillion volts of electricity he got during weirdmageddon
-Clark almost didn't go to college to stay and work at the Shack and maybe convince his dad to finally let him help with the portal, but Stan recognized Clark was smart af and didn't want Clark to be held back for his sake. And then Stan had twenty crises in a row when it came time for Clark to actually Go To College
-Clark has to wear (reading) glasses but he doesn't like the feel of them so he usually just carries them around and wears them as infrequently as possible. And then his entire secret identity becomes "put on glasses" so he has to wear them all the time and he's REALLY MAD about it
-Clark was originally going to college for some sort of mechanics/engineering degree, but once he left Gravity Falls, he realized just how weird his hometown is. Like, he was theoretically aware, but the guy lived there his whole life. He left a few times to visit the twins and their parents or for miscellaneous other reasons but he never really lived outside of Gravity Falls for any amount of time. So it kinda hits him how different The Real World (for lack of a better term) is, and he decides to switch to communications/journalism major instead. Also, he was not very good at engineering.
-The Mystery Twins are approximately the same age as Robin!Dick so they become pretty good friends over the years. Mabel has a gigantic insane crush on Dick and Dick has a tiny baby crush on Dipper and everybody is oblivious about everything except for Bruce and Clark, who have to silently suffer together about the situation until everyone gets over it.
-Dipper gets really into magic and spells and stuff as he gets older so he becomes Clark's go-to "there's weird shit happening and it's not the genre I usually deal with" person. It isn't his life's work like with Constantine or Zatanna, so he isn't a JLDark member or anything, but he definitely Knows Some Shit.
-I'm cooking something along the lines of "Mabel becomes the youngest congresswoman ever at age 18" simply because I think it would be funny and because nobody ever acknowledges how that one frozen president technically made Mabel a congresswoman in that one episode.
-You know how Jon Kent is named that after Clark's Canon Dad Jonathan Kent? Clark tries to name his kid "Stan" after his dad and uncle and both Stanley and Stanford are like don't you FUCKING dare, we have enough Stans in this family, please give your son a better name dear god
-When the Young Justice team (yj98, NOT yjtv) forms, there's a running bit where they keep fucking running into either Mabel or Dipper on every other mission, except none of them know they're Superman's cousins so they think these two weirdos are trying to do Evil Stuff when in fact they're just living their lives, and these lives happen to be absolutely insane enough to keep crossing over with teenage superhero shenanigans.

Theory that Blitzø has a type...
He falls in love with the authentic good-hearted/good-natured type.
Couldn't help but notice the similarities between Stolas and Fizz! They both oddly–in hells case-stand out for being empathetic. I would categorize them as empaths (think of it in the sense that they take after Charlie instead of Lucifer).
They are genuine in their acts of kindness and don't harbor ill will for others even when they have been severely hurt by them. In Lucifers hell, this is unspeakable. But it's definitely an attractor to Blitz. I think they help keep his demons in check. As he is by nature prone to violence and all things bloody.
I can see why he swoons! It's like meeting angels in hell!
All this, makes me really curious to see how Verosika is like outside of the context of being an ex who is hurt. What went wrong? From the look of things, they met after the tragic fire incident. Probably when Blitzø was at his lowest.
We know for certain that Blitz manipulated Verosika. Which he is not above doing even when he likes someone. This in turn makes me believe that the gravity of what he did to Verosika (stealing from her, not reciprocating, breaking her heart) was due to 2 reasons:
1. He had hit rock bottom and Verosika offered temporary comfort he took advantage of.
2. The damage that was done is likely due to him never being in love with her like he was with Fizz and is with Stolas.
Verosika doesn't strike me as the wide-eyed type like the boys. No offense to Fizz and Stolas! But Verosika has her head on straight. She meets Blitzø head on and challenges him.
It's possible they didn't work out because they were too similar, thereby too toxic for each other.
Eitherway, it would make Verosika the only one that Blitz has hurt on purpose. No accident. No misunderstandings. Just a straight knife to the back! And if so I think he needs to answer for it.

Magical Girl Mabel ⋆。°✩
I would definitely redo this design, but I certainly imagine her weapon would be a knitting needle, a la a shepherd's crook style.
Credit where it's due, while not meant to be the design in the story I thought about the crossover of Gravity Falls and Madoka Magica with the fic Magical Girl Mabel by Thorncat57 on Ao3. It's a bit of a sad read, but I mean, what do you expect out of a crossover with Madoka Magica? It's still a fun idea that I think could be explored a bit!
#Celtrist#cel doodles#fanart#gravity falls#mabel pines#artists on tumblr#gravity falls fanart#gravity falls mabel#magical girl#<- or my attempt at a design#Worked out fine. Should maybe refine it at some point.#My followers are probably feeling whiplash with this fandom#Which fair. Weird jump but I'm into Gravity Falls now.#These characters are still kinda... intimidating to draw. So need to get my bearings on how I'd wanna draw some of these people.

Depicting Catatonia: Professor Stein, “Soul Eater”
There’s a common comment that schizophrenia is not well-represented in fiction, but at the top of my rather long list of accurate and mindful characterization is Professor Franken Stein from gothic comedy anime + manga, “Soul Eater,” although he is one of few in which it was not written verbatim into canon. As it’s been on my mind lately, I wanted to take a moment and highlight a symptom I have not otherwise expressly seen in other fictional characters, but is depicted multiple times throughout this shonen series: Catatonia.
I am not a doctor or healthcare professional, but I am speaking about catatonia from a personal and first-hand experience. While this can be a symptom of schizophrenia, it is not exclusive to a diagnosis of a psychotic disorder, and can have different origins or causes such as—but not limited to or is an exhaustive list of—depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and side effects of medication. Catatonia is a psychomotor syndrome, meaning there is a disruption between the conscious mind and the body’s ability to move or respond accordingly; someone in a catatonic state may seem like a statue, they will not move despite external stimuli (including minor pain) and may even hold seemingly uncomfortable poses against gravity (this is called “posturing"). In other cases, catatonia can present with mindless repetitive movements, echolalia, limited verbal response, inappropriate affect or grimacing, and echopraxia, among other symptoms and qualifications for definition and diagnosis. Something of important note regarding catatonia is that despite a person being unable to move or fend for themselves, they are often completely aware of what is happening in their surroundings. Catatonic patients continue to have their own thoughts and internal dialogue. Episodes can last for hours to days though, in some instances, can last for shorter or longer amounts of time.
s01e44: “Weakling Crona’s Determination – For You, For Always Being By My Side?”
In the events leading up to this scene, we follow Professor Stein as he falls into “madness,” as the series calls it. Our heroes arrive in time to find Stein completely motionless behind his captor, Medusa, even as she sits in his lap or when his safety is jeopardized. He does not move to fix his clothing, he does not react to imminent danger, and later we see him with an awkward gait, incongruent facial expressions, and an apparent difficulty to speak appropriately.
Chapter 39: “Internal Investigation (Part 2)”
This was one of two manga-exclusive scenes that confirmed to me that either Stein is schizophrenic, and/or that "madness" is starkly synonymous for psychosis. Here we have Spirit—Stein’s partner--checking in on him after he was interviewed by an internal investigator (as per the plot). The very first thing Spirit addresses to the audience is that Stein’s dialogue is at a minimum, it’s uncharacteristic of him not to be “bursting with curiosity.” Secondly, Spirit can’t help but point out the professor’s dazed stupor, immediately, then, followed by inappropriate laughter and an unsteady gait; the very first thing that was immediately apparent to me--even in the mere three panels before Spirit enters—was Stein’s posturing, uncomfortably and stiffly against the wall.
s01e35: “Mosquito's Storm! Ten Minutes to Fight in the World of the Past?”
Sometimes a person can actualize a catatonic episode coming on. In this episode of “Soul Eater,” Stein begins to collapse to the care of his partner, Marie, as his body becomes rigid. Seen a few moments later, Marie helps guide him to safety, only for him to fall face-down in the snow without the inclination to preserve himself, and remains there for several minutes. Further into the events of this segment, Stein has to be carried by a colleague despite not having been injured, but due to the apparent inability to move.
s01e37: “The Detective's First Case - Kid Exposes the DWMA's Secret?”
This scene startled me when I reviewed it as an adult, as it reflects my own experience in coming out of or falling into catatonia. In this scene, a student of Stein’s pays him a visit in his home, but the professor makes no formalities of getting up off of the floor, the state in which Kid found him in. Right before the two start conversing, Stein seems to struggle in moving even just his eyes to focus across the room. The scene progresses as Stein continually pauses in awkward poses. I quite enjoy this very specific instance in depicting catatonia because we get a chance to hear the professor’s thoughts: Stein is far more focused on worrying about his hallucinations than he is of his present company. Too, by the end of the episode, it’s almost as if his intellectual conversation with his student has helped ground him to the point of being able to draw a cigarette from his pocket.
s01e38: “Asura's Temptation - The Big Man's Uncontrollable Irritation?”
A remark of “Soul Eater” and its effectiveness. Since I watched the anime before reading the manga to completion, it was this scene that profoundly caught my attention regarding catatonia. In a rather disheartening posturing and stupor, Stein is seen seemingly stuck on the floor against his will, surely uncomfortably lying on his arm and on the cartoonish bolt propping his head up. He’s reaching out in blank terror to a hallucination, but this pose did strike my focus as an unusually certain characteristic to catatonic behavior. A terrifying additional note, as I’ve written this out, that despite in the previous episode, Marie eventually intervenes Stein and Kid’s conversation, it still almost feels as though Stein never moved from the floor continuing off the last time we saw him.
s01e40: “The Cards Are Cut – Medusa Surrenders to the DWMA?”
I wasn’t originally going to include this scene at all, but then I reviewed it. Despite that in this scene Stein holds a conversation with Medusa, we’re shown that he struggles to move to his own free will, even when his body contorts to a more awkward positioning. Too, even the villain points out to him that his voice is trembling as he can’t seem to bring it up to a normal volume.
Now, being that I am not a doctor of any kind, as I wrote this media analysis, I started to wonder what the differentiation or sort of dividing line and threshold between different presentations of catatonia and dissociation is or could be. I personally experience both, and while sometimes I can catch when debilitating dissociation will transition into a catatonic episode, I'm not quite sure if I can yet identify what the difference in nuance, feelings, or experience is between a more general dissociative state and one that will develop into catatonia. This being said, while catatonia has been acknowledged for over a century, there's still not that much information on it. Again, I am not a healthcare professional by any means, but I leave this post open for discussion.

Gravity Falls fic rec list...Part 2.
I should be grading writing right now, but in the spirit of procrastination, I'm going to instead post about my favorite new fics that have emerged in the post-Book of Bill era.
~~~~~~
Gen Fics
A Mariner’s Guide to the Unexplained by mariezies
Another fic that tackles the idea of Stan's criminal past coming back to haunt him as the elder Pines twins take to the sea. What I really like about this fic are Ford's inner monologues and in particular, the way he overthinks his interactions with his brother post-Weirdmaggedon due to the crushing level of guilt he feels. Bonus points for the incredibly adorable cat OC who joins the twins on the Stan o'War II. Incomplete.
We're Still Here by Simplistic_Apricity
What if Stan hadn't knocked Ford through the portal in 1982 and stuck around Gravity Falls instead? A bajillion fics have been written about this concept, but this one takes a slightly different approach as to the fallout from a Bill-possessed Ford attacking his brother as Ford slowly (slowly) comes to terms with what exactly he has wrought in that basement. The characterization and interactions of the twins and Fiddleford are incredibly grounded, avoiding melodrama while still being wildly effective. Incomplete. TWs for violence and medical trauma.
~~~~~~
Billford Fics
Not to sound like a 2013 hipster, but I do want to state that I hopped on this seafaring vessel pre-BoB and am delighted to witness the explosion of works exploring the demented, tortured relationship between these two absolute disasters. I've decided to let my cringe flag fly high and free here, with the caveat that I only indulge in triangle!Bill stories (accept no substitutions), as, let's face it, Ford is a freak (affectionate) and he loves his geometry.
Statement Abnegation by Anonymous
This one probably needs no introduction, but I'd be wholly remiss if I didn't include it on my list. A+ characterization of both Ford and Bill and it fucking nails the landing. Ford is taken prisoner during Weirdmaggedon, but this time Bill's playing for keeps. Complete. TWs for torture, death (temporary), Stockholm syndrome, and explicit sexual content.
apology tour by dolorous
There's something downright wistful about this story, which presents as "crack taken seriously" when Bill chooses Ford to be his keeper/chaperone as part of a Theraprism-mandated apology tour to those he has wronged post-BoB. Ford hates Bill. Ford sometimes doesn't hate Bill. Ford definitely hates Bill. And now they're stuck on the road trip from hell. Complete. Implied past (current/future?) relationship, no sexual content.
Then it becomes, it becomes, it becomes a problem by tempusedaxrerum
Takes place post-Betrayal but (so far) pre-Stanley arriving in Gravity Falls. Bill is determined to drag Ford into opening the Portal, kicking and screaming (limbs optional). Features an incredibly well-developed OC who is battling demons of her own when she has the misfortune of crossing paths with both Bill and Ford on a snowy evening in Oregon. Incomplete. TWs for violence, attempted sexual assault via possession, substance abuse.
Live, Laugh, Lather, Rinse, Repeat by ShibaIntuit
The conceit of this story is absolutely wild. Essentially, Ford eats a cursed piece of pizza and suffers from existential indigestion. The world-building once Ford is in the multiverse is delightful as an older Ford tries to renegotiate his past with a Bill Cipher of thirty years previous. Incomplete. TWs for violence.
as falls gravity so falls gravity falls by underwater_owl
A series of three stories that take a deep dive into Ford's subconscious while exploring the idea of the Axolotl placing Bill under Ford's mental power due to shenanigans you are better off reading about than me explaining here. Bait & Switch is the main narrative, which is a gen work featuring the whole extended Pines family plus Mabel and Dipper's mother, while Because & Despite and Cause & Effect explore the intense psychosexual relationship between Ford and Bill before and during the events of Bait & Switch. These last two stories really dig into the nature of Ford's deepest and darkest desires and the utterly twisted relationship between Ford and Bill. Incomplete. TWs for explicit sexual content (read the tags on those two last stories, folks! This author isn't, or is, I suppose, fucking around).
Snakes in the Garden by Miss_Ginger_Bread
Another Jimmy Snakes story! Because both Pines twins have terrible taste in men/demonic entities. A ghost from Stan's past shows up in Norway, prompting Ford to take matters into his own hands. Lovely interactions between the Pines twins, including a murderous, protective Ford and a Ford who is harboring a gigantic, triangle-shaped secret from his brother. Incomplete. TWs for abusive relationships.

Okay, so, I've noticed a lot of discourse between canon and fanon for the DC fandom (particularly the Batfam) and I agree with elements of both sides, disagree with some too, and understand but don't necessarily agree with certain things.
Like Romani Dick Grayson for instance. I agree that the canon portrayal of it was utterly appalling, mostly because it was written by someone (Devin Grayson, if I'm remembering correctly) with clear biases who had done very little research, as what was written was almost completely based on harmful stereotypes.
As someone who's not white (or straight), I know what it's like to be misrepresented in media like this, how confusing and hurtful it can be. So what I'm writing next isn't coming from a privileged place of 'suck it up and stop being a snowflake.' It's just my perspective which may be flawed and I'm open to being corrected if I'm missing anything.
Also, disclaimer, while I'm not white, I'm also not Romani, so I'm definitely not an authority on any of this.
So, let's get started:
A lot of people say that fanon shouldn't make works with Romani Dick Grayson due to it's origins. While I understand that, I also disagree.
Because most works I've read where Dick is Romani tend to be well researched and coming from a place of love and respect, unlike canon. They also do what they can to avoid falling into tired tropes or harmful stereotypes, again, unlike canon.
Of course, any work where the person who's creating it isn't the race/ethnicity that they're representing may not be perfect, because respect and understanding don't always go hand in hand. But I think that so long as they're willing to listen to constructive criticism on the issue from those with the perspective they lack, then it shouldn't be too much of an issue?
If fanon were doing the same thing as canon did with this representation, then I'd be against it. But instead, they're trying to make something good out of canon's mess. Though I could be missing something so please feel free to comment or message me if I am.
To me, fanon presenting Dick's Romani heritage with the love and respect the original author should have is similar to when fanon explores the sexual assault storylines that occurred in DC with the gravity and care the original writers failed to.
Now, in cases where they write Cass as a glorified prop, Duke as a generic background character, or Damian as a feral creature in need of "domestication," I totally get where people are coming from with wanting to shut that down. It's lazy, harmful, racist and gross as hell. I don't fuck with any of that.
But with Romani Dick I don't see (again I could be missing something so please tell me) many, if any, harmful stereotypes in the majority of fanon works.
Which is why I think Romani Dick Grayson can be a good thing when in the right hands. But, as someone who's not Romani it's hardly my place to say what the right hands are, this is just me saying what I've seen, if I'm wrong, then that truly is my bad and I apologise in advance.

Why I Can See Ford Pines as Demisexual
I see a lot of people headcanoning Ford to be ace/aro which is valid, especially after Bill joking/wondering if he's plansexual due to Ford saying he's attracted to preparation and logic. So I thought I'd toss my two cents in and say I can see him more as demisexual.
He's definitely dated before, as mentioned in the journal, but I think the guy probably struggled a lot to connect with people on a base level (whether platonic or not) due to receiving hostility towards his six fingers and not having much positive social interaction outside the family. When he did receive positive interactions, it was towards his academic endeavors (I say this, including his parents and school).
Let's not forget that the 30 years of running for his life didn't help with trusting people easily. Stan was his best friend, and maybe that could've been enough if things didn't take a hard turn for the worst. We see a few times in the journals/BOB how Ford feels lonely even when arriving in Gravity Falls. I think he really wanted companionship/friendship outside of his brother. And he had that with Fiddleford and what he thought with Bill as well. Kind of blinded him to the fact he was being used until it was too late, and that's taking into account Bill was an evil triangle con man.
Not to mention his work ethic was all over the place and lowkey unhealthy? The guy barely got any rest, I doubt he'd prioritize a relationship over his life work anytime soon or be able to manage both.
I feel like he personally puts the person's intellect, lifestyle, etc etc all into consideration as you would with a friend. Like what do you have in common or not, do you also believe in the supernatural and things like that. Literally just a friend and that would be enough, doubt he's actively looking for something more at his age— guy has a lot of catching up to do with family.
He's a smart fella, a bit too smart, but maybe comes off apathetic (as shown in the show), so maybe having someone who can handle that and clock it while not seeing it through the eyes of romance works well. And having trust issues, understandably so, would maybe have a relationship take some time regardless of what kind. He would need to build up some type of emotional bond/trust, especially after Bill.
There are some folks recently saying Ford shows symptoms of have Narcisstic Personality Disorder (NPD) which is quite interesting and after rewatching the show I can understand with the moments we were given.
But idk, when I think about it maybe Ford wouldn't mind romance if he overcame the hurdles of mistrust, certain social expectations, his own ego, better work schedule (with the help of the twins & Stan) and many more things I'd speak on in another post. But does anyone else agree? I can always make a headcanon post on what being with Ford would be like if asked in the ask box.
(I'd appreciate all the reblogs & likes please, trying to be more active :] )

Funny idea for that Mabel x Ferb ship is that while they're doing romance stuff, Phineas and Dipper are on an adventure. Because it'd be hilarious to see the high-strung Dipper Pines interacting with the nearly unfazable Phineas Flynn.
Also, Doofenshmirtz is trying to attack McGuckett for allegedly ripping off his Inator. While he's stopped by Perry, the offending invention is destroyed. Fortunately, that's a completely legal way of handling disputes in Gravity Falls since its founding.
Oh and maybe later Dipper is paranoid about Perry but finds nothing.
This is super cute! I can't imagine Ferb going off and doing anything romantic with Mabel when there's a day to be seized with Phineas (if this crossover happens when they're still kids), but I can imagine Mabel repeatedly flirting with Ferb during the adventure and Ferb accepting all hints by literally going along with whatever she's doing. Because he does reciprocate but he's Ferb. Brings him a treat? He eats it with a thumbs-up. Falls from a crazy height due to a grappling hook error? He catches her. Grabs him by the arm and volun-tells him they're gonna go get supplies/hunt for clues together? ("You know who'd make a great team? Me and this guy! Am I right? Who else can feel this? I can feel this.") Ferb's in. That kind of thing, definitely! Phineas and Dipper would be amazing together for exactly your reasoning. Phineas is so confident and capable and easy. Dipper is so not. I don't think Dipper would even suspect anything about Perry - I think he'd be way more interested in the statistical probabilities of the boys' contraption both working like a dream and disappearing before Candace's mom can see it every day. But I can also see him wanting to find/prove something and marveling at how easy it is for Phineas and the gang to do just that - everything always works out for them. Not something Dipper's ever experienced, really! And your idea for Doof made me think of an alternative, but maybe not as funny idea where he and Fiddleford work together on building an inator and Perry has to fight both a mad genius and a mad homeless man. In bare feet. I just - the idea of a summer in Gravity Falls and a summer in Danville intersecting is too easy and too funny and too wonderful. No matter how you slice it. Dwampy and Alex, where is the crossover, I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR US-
