i found out last night that a nurse i work with, who’s openly transphobic and is also known for being weirdly flirty with male coworkers, told one of my coworkers that she thinks i’m “handsome, but just need to stop wearing that mask”. and i don’t think the person who told me fully grasped how weird that is because she said it like it was a sign of that nurse making some sort of progress in her attitude toward trans people, but i for one have never been more confident in my decision to always wear a mask at work.

because frankly, the only thing worse than being mistreated by her because i’m trans would be if she only spared me from it because she decided she’d rather objectify me instead. the idea of that actually makes me feel so fucking gross. i could handle thinking she might be harder on me just because i’m trans — i know what kind of person she is and i wouldn’t expect anything else from her. but if she’s decided i’m the one good trans person just because she personally likes the way testosterone has changed my face, i would quite frankly rather set myself on fire than ever take my mask off around her again.

and the thing is, it doesn’t even change the fact that i’m pretty sure she’s harder on me than any of my coworkers because i’m trans. i don’t know if she even realizes she is or if she just instinctively treats me differently, but i’ve definitely felt it. i get all of the (super inappropriate for work but no one seems to see the issue except me) objectification while gaining absolutely no benefit from being “one of the good ones”. she just thinks i look good while doing a million things wrong in her eyes, i guess. isn’t that fun?

A sound catches his ears. The sound of a bell gently ringing in the air, growing louder, louder. He blinks, his one good eye catching Spitfire still standing atop the shipping container. They’re hunched over, one hand over their chest and face scrunched. That bell is coming from them. They’re laughing.

They right themselves, gazing down at him with a grin, and triumphantly hold up the feather. He blinks, instinctively going for his belt, and finds nothing there.

“What’s wrong, teach?” They ask, their tone all but mocking. “Did the little mortal actually throw you for a spin?” Another ringing from them, their laugh soft but loud and true, and it’s towards him and for him and—

Thmp—thmp

Oh no.

Macaque detangles himself from the netting, jumping back up and standing before them. They continue to say, “Rule one to pickpocketing: never let them know you’re going to pickpocket them.” They hand the feather back to him. “Had to get you distracted somehow.”

“Uh huh…” He takes the feather, letting it melt away into shadow. He wants to hear that laugh again. He wants to see that smile again. The smile they had for him, small, teasing, friendly, cute—

Thmp—thmp

He shoves it away, stuffing his hands into his pockets and forcing a grin. “Well, I gotta say; congratulations, spitfire, you’re one of the rare few to catch the Six-Eared Macaque off guard,” he says with an overly dramatic bow and stands up straight again. “And with that, we’ll end training for the day. Same time, same place tomorrow.”

as a teen, i wanted nothing more than a pair of the below-the-knee dickies shorts that were popular in the pop punk scene at the time. specifically as styled by simple plan (the blink version just doesn't do it for me?). I was obsessed with the band and assumed until very recently that this, my out-of-nowhere affinity for zebra print, and want for a lip and eyebrow piercing were all celebrity crush related (thanks david desrosiers).

but then a whole bunch of time passed and I learned i was ace. then aro and agender. apathy rules my world right now. it's cool.

Then FUCKING CHARLIE GILLESPIE and his role as Luke in JatP had to happen with his goddamn cutoffs. And I'm sent back into a spiral. I want to try wearing my own cutoffs (insert various reasons I can't right now but it's apparently been added to the freaking list I didn't even know I had).

Watch him in some other roles and like, he's incredible so I keep being a fan. but THEN. BUT THEN I watch Runt. And he's wearing these fucking shorts with a wife beater tank in the first scene he's in. And now I'm in the spiral again.

I have and continue talking myself out of affirming choices all the time. Some valid (money, health, safety), some less valid (gender conformity) and it is SO weird looking back in time and piecing things together through this new lens. Anyway. That's where I'm at now. Angry at money and also boys who unapologetically own their shit.

i hadnt thought of TP Link having an Ordonian accent for a long time (its been literal years since i last played TP) but it got me thinking like, if Link in BotW was actually from Hateno would he have a bumpkin/provincial accent too fbsjd

i jusy brought this up with a pal and we agreed that yes and bumpkin Link is superior in all its forms, but since i really got kickstarted back into Zelda content & community as a whole through an Irish youtuber and streamer, i literally cannot hear BotW Link's dialogue as anything but slightly put-out Irish lad now lol
