A self aware AU for this game is a tiny bit different compared to games like Genshin, wuwa, hsr ect, because those games have a set story

A story to continue.

Things to do aside from that.

A game like forsaken? You’re doing the same thing. Survive or kill. You can’t stop it, even if you wanted to. But do you? If you’re unaware of the fact the characters have become aware, then probably not right?

It’s just a fun game, you play with your friends. Everything is fine. You may sympathise with the characters due to their stories, but at the end of the day. In your eyes, they're fictional.

The survivors don’t like you. Not at first, not all of them. Sure you’re not the Spectre, and that might've made some of them feel a bit less on guard around you and some can’t fault you too much. You’re not fully aware of what’s going on.

But Elliot is growing tired of this. He’s the only one able to heal, and to be controlled by someone who has to choose for him. To be controlled by someone who can just ignore other survivors? Irritates him, it’s not your fault sure. But hearing the death of others around him when he’s one of the only things keeping them alive? It’s not fun. His friends, people who he's grown close with, begging for a pizza. But he can't. If he had control over his movements he would've give them a medkit. But he can't anymore, it's up to you.

Don’t get him started on when or if you decide to RUN in front of the killer. He got injured! What are you doing?? There's better ways to try and heal someone without running in front of 1xs mass infection that could very much one shot him if he got too close.

Guest 1337 isn’t particularly happy either. He spent time figuring it when was the best times to block, to charge. Learning to parry due to the cooldown he had. But now he can throw that out the window when you decided you wanted to play as him. He doesn't want to be harsh, especially when you seem to just be...learning how to use him? But every miss, every fail at a block that he knows he likely could've gotten. It irritates him, it's not completely directed towards you. He knows you're still learning. He knows you see it as a game.

But he doesn't. In his eyes this is real. Each fail at a parry could mean the loss of a life, even if they come back. It doesn't exactly get easier watching people you care about fall and die to the hands of the killer. He hopes you learn how to use utilizes his skills soon.

When they realized you weren't the Spectre, they thought for sure you were Spawn, or at the very least. A fellow member. And this only amplified when Two Time witnessed you dying and respawning in the cabin. You can't see them but they can see you. Walking around the lobby, jumping around. They see every reset you do and they see you come back again. It takes awhile before they realise you're not the avatar they see you as. It does disappoint them a tad bit.

However, seeing your avatar die and come back still interests them a lot, you had to have some connection to the Spawn, right?...What do you mean it's just because they're in a game and that's the most logical reason?

Builderman had to explain that. He finds it...odd, he tries to find out more about you, or just in general the game he and his friends were in. Surely there was something that could help them. After finding out you were not the Spectre, he eased up around you a lot more, and he will say. That little thing you do where you make him put down a sentry or dispenser while doing a generator? It's smart.

He likes to see you find places that would be the most optimal places for his machines, even if it takes you a while to learn. It shows him in a way, that when you're controlling one of them, at least you want them to live.

Dusekkar and Shedlesky both also try to find out more about the game or you upon finding out. Neither have bad opinions on you after they realise you're just someone wanting to play a game. But neither can fault the survivors who still are on edge around you. I think Dusekkar would be the one to find out more about the game first and inform the others.

Even if it's only information about the game, any information is better than none. They learn there's more games out there, that they're in a Roblox game. Which does make Builderman raise an eyebrow but he doesn't say anything about it.

Shedlesky tries to find out more about you. Mainly to try and help ease everyone elses nerves about you. If he finds out you have good intentions then it would mean people would hopefully feel a bit safer. It's not as easy as Dusekkar though since it's directly you he needs information about. So he tries to read you, write about things he notices and asks others to help see what kind of person you are.

He also urges others to talk about how you were when playing as them if you decide to control them. Taph doesn't like the thought of being controlled, he tries to stay close with Builderman as if it did anything to stop it. At the very least, he doesn't seem like a popular pick for people to play as (Give my boy same more love - MS4 Taph player)

When he does get controlled, he feels very uneasy, just like most other survivors. He does get used to it and he will admit, seeing you happy when you manage to get a killer to step into one of his traps also makes him happy. This doesn't mean he's already warmed up to you though. But he does become a bit more used to being controlled.

007n7 feels...oddly calm about it. Maybe it was because he used to be a hacker, and hackers using their ability to control others weren't uncommon but he doesn't exactly...mind it? In a way. Okay he does mind it, he doesn't like being controlled but who would? But he gets used to it faster then any other survivor, it helps a bit if you alternate between all of them as well. Gives him a break, he can stretch his legs.

He does get insanely scared when he thinks you're using the teleport ability too late, HURRY NOLI IS RIGHT THE- oh we made it

Chance already suffers in silence when he misses, now he relys on someone else to shoot their gun. If you manage to always shoot the killer though (ignoring when the gun doesn't go off or when it explodes) then they will be impressed!! They still feel uneasy around you but hey, they're impressed.

They think you're crazy sometimes, specifically when you tried to get weakness 50 on him. And the killer was actively chasing them. THIS ISN'T NICE Y'KNOW, one hit and they're done for...

Was the achievement really worth it?

Noob I feel like gets used to you the fastest, sure they had to take some time to think. They're in a game...like a game game, not the Spectres game that they use for entertainment. Like everything that took place to lead them to this...was...well it was going to happen, no stopping it even if they wanted to. But after thinking it over they come to terms with it...maybe if you knew...then you could help them?...but that was risky, they still didn't know if you'd care...if you'd truly care.

All the survivors have mastered their abilities, at least majority of them. So it comes to no surprise that they stress when you decide to play as them, especially if you're new to it.

What happens in rounds you may ask? Since it's a co-op game. Well, in my brain, it works like this: Only one of them will get teleported. At least into your game. If you chose Noob? They'd get transported away from everyone else into a game. Every other person the survivor sees (I.E the other players/survivors) is like an NPC. They aren't like them who found out. Just puppets controlled by other players, and yes they are as well but, they know they're being controlled.

The other survivors might be thrown into their own round as well, just without your influence over them. This is all assuming that it's only your forsaken game that managed to find out they were in a game. That became self-aware. (Imagine how chaotic it would be if everyones forsaken became self-aware...)

All in all, the survivors take...a long time to get used to you, to even warm up to you. They're hesitant on talking about it, hesitant on trying to ask for your help. What if the Spectre found out? Did the Spectre already know? Would you even be able to help them escape?

The Accountability Problem

I see we are again debating who is being held accountable and who isn't. As a Jameson stan, let me be the first to say I absolutely will hold Jamie accountable for when he has been wrong and out of line. I hate some of his decisions and actions, especially in the last few books as of late. For those that are Grayson stans and keep him accountable for his actions, good on you. For the fans who agree in general all characters should be held accountable for certain actions, wonderful. Glad we're on the same page. But let's get something straight.

As unbiased and neutral as I try to be, I often saw that Jameson fans were far more attacked about their favorite than Grayson fans especially back when I joined tumblr in 2022. And let's be honest, as much as Avery and Jamie are among the faves, I would argue that no matter where you turn, whatever the social media, the fan fave character was always Grayson. He's quite literally the Harry Styles of this cast of characters.

Not that I'm mad at anyone for it but it always felt like Jameson fans had to work harder defending their choice and you could see that especially pre-release of TFG. Once TFG came out, I felt those statement posts felt even more valid (the good stuff about him, that is) but once TBH came out, some of that fell into the water. As I've said before, it always did feel like Jamie's development finished in TFG and ever since then, he stopped having progress.

It felt like JLB wrote herself into a corner with him because this series was already meant to be finished (look at TFG acknowledgments). Once Avery's story was done, we technically considered Jameson's that way too, right? Hence, she never knew what to do with him because of his arc being over and that's why I always had the feeling of being stuck in a loop post TFG regarding Jamie's character development or lack there of. But that was not the case with Gray. We knew exactly that TFG was his rock bottom and because he was the fan fave, he was going to get a redemption AND a love interest. JLB had a story to still tell and he had progress which he deserved but that's why Jamie hasn't been as much of a lovable character I'd say. That's why Lyra and TGG exist. That's why Lyra was always loved from the start; because we knew her role through the Grayson lens.

Now don't get me wrong, I certainly get that not everyone loves Lyra or Lyra and Gray as a couple but I think I see more love for them to the point they outshine Avery and Jameson. They weren't even a couple before we started dishing out so many fanfics about them, meanwhile how much time did it take for Averyjameson fics to roll out? 2-3 years on here. In general, it took like a good two years to start rolling out the fics for this series on tumblr, not that this is the point I am trying to make with that statement. Now, yes, times have changed but certain dynamics haven't and that would be the Jameson vs Grayson fans.

I think more valid criticism of Grayson's actions was only really pushed forward once the series originally ended but Jameson's was from the start because of his unruly nature. Now I get that he is a tough character to like so no judgment but the calling out was always there. Maybe Gray had some but not nearly as much. I know right now it seems more Jameson fans are defending his behavior and not all of it is justified because some stuff is for sure his AND Avery's fault (yup I am def saying our Heiress too) but let's not pretend that Jameson hasn't been called out 100 times more at this point than Grayson. If there was anything that Jamie has been right about, it's that even when Emily was playing both of them, it was always Gray. And you guys have always been the louder critics about Jamie's actions ever since TIG came out. There's never been a competition on that front, I just hope you can see that outside your bubble.

house md rewatch: 3x17, "fetal position"

the true start of house md's "objectivity" issue.

i have to credit this gifset that i saw just this morning for making the objectivity subplot in 3x17 extra potent for me because now i can better appreciate the ramifications cuddy's struggle has for the series at large. with that in mind, i'm gonna be talking about future episodes in this one, which i really try not to do, but i can't help it this time!!

first, even without the comment that house is taking the case because cuddy thinks it's extra important, the second "maternal mirror syndrome" is on the whiteboard, we can see where this is going. house pretty needlessly spells this out for us in a later conversation - cuddy sees herself in the patient, emma, because emma is approaching middle age (isn't cuddy like...37 though?) and has struggled to conceive. we've got another Cuddy Performs Womanhood episode on our hands.

cuddy picks up the other half of her pursuit of Correct Womanhood from 3x14, except this time, her work persona, which is her most successful, can hopefully aid in this one - giving life to a child. her immediate attachment to emma's unborn baby represents a rare occasion where cuddy feels like she can wield her version of womanhood in a way that is productive and positive, but the very instincts that allow her to do this also nearly spell out her ruin. she prioritizes the baby over the mother which, in the surrounding medical opinions (even in cameron's pro-life mind), is kinda crazy.

one distinct positive that comes of the battle between medicine and maternal instincts, however, is the confirmation that she has them, which was a doubt she expressed back in 3x09. so there's a victory to be had in 3x17, which she rubs house's nose in at the end of the episode. for a mother, the .1 chance of success after the 9.9 chance of failure is enough. her objectivity majorly faltered, sure, but it doesn't matter in a sense that house (and some audience members) can't understand.

speaking of performances - house and cuddy give a joint one in 3x17! they're both attempting to be "parents" in their own right, and married ones, at that. the scene that made this clearest for me was when they were presenting emma with their last-ditch idea: doing exploratory surgery on the baby. up until this point, they can't even agree on what to define this child-by-proxy, though they do come together during the final hour in surgery. it's very much giving Custody Battle, and house's own performance is one of a detached affect that gets punctured upon his (cheesy) realization about the Sanctity of Human Life. i think he already understands this subliminally, which is why he considers death a moral failure on his part, but i digress.

right when things are looking up for house and cuddy, having found a solution to this figurative custody battle, house undoes it. he doesn't take the incredibly generous trip gifted to him by cuddy. he can't accept her kindness, nor can he be truthful about it. it feels like a step backwards for house after the Fake Brain Cancer fiasco of 3x15, and the final shot we see of him watching the travel channel, while a little too overt, is a sad one.

pivoting once more before i get to talk about objectivity more, i think cuddy's line to cameron is one of the funniest things we've heard in a while: "chase isn't the one that's gonna get hurt here." GIRL. LOL. i am haunted by the specter of season 6.

not only is this funny in retrospect, but it's also actively untrue, at least to the viewer, who's seen the way cameron and chase's nonrelationship has evolved behind (not) closed doors. or maybe i'm reading into this too much and house md couldn't detect their own tonal dissonance by implying that cameorn is actually anxious about getting hurt. either way, i'm going to bat for cameron here and saying that the surrounding characters doubt her emotional capacity and control here. she's the one being daring in the workplace; she's the one who's able to bold-face lie about it. chase, truly, is along for the ride...and he's falling in love with the ride :D

he's the one fawning over her! and with every passing episode, the inevitable of this fact gets closer and closer. we are quite literally just one layer removed now via this photo. "you're glowing" / "i always glow" just about did me in.

this is where i'm going to look into the future of house md because i think cuddy, in 3x17, has served as our sacrificial lamb to the show's treatise on impossible objectivity. cuddy's longing to be a mother - and her innate capacity to be one! - is why, in house's words, she "can't be a good doctor if you're not objective." i think this is our most definitive example of what causes one of our main characters to cross this doctorly boundary, and it's excellently done.

i'll posit that the patients with whom house has the hardest time remaining objective about are those that remind him of himself. 6x22 is probably the greatest example of this. but, at least for now, i'm not as interested in a parallel drawn between house and cuddy in this regard. what i think is really interesting is how wilson and cuddy's broken objectivities manifest in polar opposite ways. i'm talking about 4x16 here, of course.

no one get on me about how 4x16 wasn't planned. not that you guys tend to do that, but i'm just making that clear up front lol.

in 3x17, cuddy is plagued by over action. she does too much, too quickly, and too desperately. maybe it's in an effort to solve her indecision from 3x09, but i'd argue that cuddy is never stagnant. she's like house in that way, more often than not. cuddy's decisions in this episode actually accelerate emma's organ failure and do active damage to her systems, all in a desperate attempt to preserve the baby.

what i found super compelling, in response to this situation, is how foreman believes that wilson can be "cuddy's cuddy," right as i was wistfully wondering when he would have this "i, too, am in this episode" moment. and i think he's a jerk to her. i think he's unreceptive and cold. he's giving an opinion that i agree with, personally, but in the face of her broken objectivity, he nearly patronizes her. oddly enough, it's under these conditions (that aren't so different from the way he regards house during house's more egregious medical tirades) that cuddy has another Ah-Ha moment.

but the entire plight of 4x16 is that wilson is plagued with inaction. he cannot make a decision regarding amber's treatment. the advice-giver, the angel on house's shoulder, the guy who can never let an issue lie and always demands a solution, is so stricken with indecision that he'd rather put his loved one on ice for as long as possible. while cuddy's broken objectivity propels her forward, wilson's roots him in place.

this is why i don't like referring to future episodes because i'm not allowed to talk about how he's approaching "god" as though in prayer, but he's asking for self-sacrifice, not absolution, and wilson is always the one person who does not/cannot deify house...oh boy...

obviously, the stakes here at vastly different, but i think this is really compelling to consider with how they support (or don't) support each other in these moments. i don't think 4x16 makes any direct callbacks to cuddy and wilson's dynamics in 3x17, but in a small way, i feel like wilson learned a lesson here that he wouldn't have always been very receptive to. cuddy even motivates him to let amber pass - always propelling forward.

overall, i really enjoy this one. i like that it offers us enough of the other characters that i don't have to write solely about house in order to get the full gist down in my recap. i find the parting message to be a tiny bit pro-life-y, but of course i am thrilled and relieved that emma and her baby made it through the ordeal. i wonder if, like is usually the case, house md was especially fearful of taking this issue on, such that house didn't even maintain his edginess about the baby/fetus question in the end.

and sorry to put "wilson's heart" on your dash! it's never easy to look at.

Your landscape studies are so pretty :0 i mean all of your art is pretty but in particular those really catch my eye. Is it alright to ask what equipment you use? And maybe how you got so good at drawing clouds? I know you said you like space things so hopefully this isn’t so nebulous it’s annoying haha

nawww you're sweet! I don't really expect people to look at my non-fanart stuff too much. but yaaa i love clouds. and the sky and space. Artistically fascinated. I have a Kamvas pen tablet monitor for my desktop, but 99% of the time I'm using Procreate on the iPad for art.

Now I will say, most of my landscape and skyscape painting are some degree of abstracted, more impressionist than realist. I'm not necessarily going for accurate lighting or form. Just enjoying the feeling of pushing around colors and shapes. So don't take any of this as formal tutorial, moreso just some thoughts on how I like to approach it.

I think layering is really important, creating depth. In the skyscape with the two pines above, I do this is by shifting the color I use for each layer of clouds.

In the purple nebula painting, I alternate between areas of dense star coverage and dark clouds. Also I used a bunch of different textures/brushes. Really just playing around and seeing what pangs nicely in my gut.

The thing with my cloud art—I'm using different brushes and strokes almost every single time. I haven't found a single brush that I absolutely love... but that's okay cause I like to experiment.

I focus on creating a flow and repeating shapes. I don’t even necessarily try for normal fluffy cloud or land forms.

I learned from an artist named Sycra Yasin a long time ago to approach environments like character art and select elements that harmonize with the vibe I’m going for. Scenes can have just as much personality and story as characters.

An embarrassing portion of the camera roll on my phone is just pictures of the sky lol. I am that annoying guy whose always going “ooh, lookit the clouds, the sunset, have you seen da moon?” It never gets old for me. The sky is different every second and it will never be the exact same again.

As with most painting and drawing, I learn the fastest by doing studies from life, photos, or other artists that I admire.

These two below were studies from a docuseries called Alien Worlds. I fantasize about being able to visit exoplanets and other astronomical phenomena. Painting planets is kinda how I explore places I’d never be able to in real life!

Realism is usually secondary, but given I have an education in the field, I can’t help but wonder what sorts of physical dynamics are at play to create the atmospheric and geological features of these places. Like what’s the physical story of this world? Or even the cultural history, if the environment includes sentient beings.

In the future I’d like to do more work with cityscapes, or just include more man-made structures in general. Painting architecture is its own beast, but I know it’s just a matter of doing a lot of studies.

One way I like to practice is to drop myself in a random city in Google Earth and draw any buildings I find interesting.

In a crop below from a painting of my oc Prynne, I wanted to depict the decaying city she lives in as sprawling and dense. I find that you only have to use very simple shapes and lines to suggest the existence of distant buildings and it still reads as intended.

Where one was, the other wasn't too far behind. It got to the point where the other team members were more concerned when you two WEREN'T together.

Nightmares are frequent with Bob. Always had been. Drugs didn't really help said nightmares. Always made them either 2× better or 20× worse [mostly worse though]. Even in sobriety, nightmares aren't unfamiliar. But still awful nonetheless. There are nights where Bob sometimes stays in your room. It calms his nerves and he's back asleep in minutes.

On those nights? You two could be asleep on completely different sides of the bed. And somehow when you wake up? Y'all are TANGLED in eachother. One hand is in Bob's face, somehow his ankle is on your shoulder?

Bob plays video games sometimes. Not intense shit like COD or anything like that. He's definetly picked up Stardew. I feel like he'd like games with stories. I'm thinking like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Baldurs Gate III, [maybe] Red Dead Redemption, games like that.

Going back to nightmares, because of them Bob has a habit of not sleeping. He developed insomnia as a teen and was often times more awake than asleep. Though, oftentimes he wakes up at the asscrack of dawn. Like... the sun shows itself just a little bit and he's UP.

Bob forgets to take care of himself sometimes. Not purposely of course. It just happens sometimes. He started doing alarms on his phone as reminders to eat food. He follows them... like 70% of the time.

Movie nights are CRUTIAL to y'alls friendship, in fact to the whole team. Every Friday night. Y'all have a system where you roll an 8 sided die, call dibs on a number, and do it that way. One night, you guys had to reroll 8 times, but Ava ended up picking the movie.

Bob likes routine. Not strict routine, just a base routine. For example, every Monday he washes his bedding. Or something like that. It doesn't need to be like on the dot time or anything like that.

Bob goes to therapy. After the whole Void escapade, it felt needed. It was a choice HE made. He goes every Wednesday.

There's 100% a FloridaMan article about him somewhere. You come across it randomly one time surfing the internet. That was QUITE a conversation.

Arguments with Bob are rare. They only ever happen when he's manic. But even when he's manic, it's rare. Once in a blue moon. They don't last long, though.

Bob hates feeling useless. He feels if he doesn't have a purpose... the what's the point of him being there, ya know? So he'll offer to take chores from other team members. Not because he likes doing chores [he doesn't mind doing dishes, or doing laundry, hell he also kinda enjoys wiping mirrors down], but because it makes him feel like he has purpose. A spot on the team.

Piggybacking off that, Bob fears deep down that he's not actually a valued team member. He knows very well that he has little control over his abilities, and that eats at him sometimes. It's a little thought at the back of his mind. That he's just... NOT enough. That just leads to him trying to train, then getting frustrated that he's not sucessful. He's getting better with the thoughts, via therapy, but it still eats at him on those nights when he really can't sleep.

One of Bob's biggest pet peeves is when people treat him like a child, or when they infantalize him. He's mentally ill, not f*cking 5. Or when people constantly bring up stuff about being The Sentry? (Thinking the post credits scene: "If only we had the Sentry... who could fly." ) It makes him feel useless. Which it just ends up pissing him off.

Bob's sweater sleeves often have a lot of loose threads at the ends. He has a habit of picking at them as a substitute to picking at the skin around his nails or... ya know... Meth.

Bob hasn't really had a lot of romantic relationships. He can probably count on one hand how many partners he's had. Not because he didn't want to, it just wasn't really his main focus, ya know?

Bob doesn't really know when it happened, or when the feelings got there. They just kinda... did.

One day, Bob didn't realize it. But one random day? You went from "(Y/N)" to "*dreamy lil sigh* (Y/N)..."

He doesn't know how to tell you... because he doesn't even know he likes you that way himself!

Outwardly, it was obvious [to all but you, of course]. It had been for a long time. So one day, Yelena asks. Her and Bob are alone, the only ones up. She asks him "Do you have a crush on (Y/N)?". Bob was confused, shaking his head softly with a "No? What makes you say that?". After that day, he realized it. Oh shit. I have a crush on my best friend.

He tries to ignore it, thinking it's just because your comforting. But after almost 4 months, and those feelings DON'T go away? He knows he's screwed.

He about BEGGED Yelena for advice. I mean... what DOES one do when they're in love with their best friend?

"Go somewhere nice with them," Yelena had suggested. "Something that's... you guys. Then tell them." Okay... seemed simple enough.

Bob took you to a bookstore you guys liked. Not a big fancy one like Barnes and Noble. Just a cute little out of the way place you two stumbled upon by accident last fall. You guys always go to pick out a new book. Sometimes you read a book together, sometimes you get separate books. Either way, you guys love getting books.

And there, quietly in the shelves, he told you. He was so nervous, fiddling with his sleeves WAYYY more than he normally did. You, of course, told him you liked him back. And you two just kinda... sat with that information. For about a week. Not because you didn't know what to do with it, but because it just never came up. Nobody offically asked "will you be my partner?" It just kinda... happened. You two were no longer friends, but more after that day. No words needed.

Bob CRAVES physical touch. The man wants to be IN YOUR SKIN, but is TERRIFED at initiating said touch. All his life, "touch" was a slap to the face, or a series of other abusive acts via his father. He gets over this, slowly but surely with some therapy and some help from you. But it's by NO means a speedy habit break.

The man is a god-damn FURNACE. If you're someone who tends to run cold, he's always holding your hands. He's always holding your hands even if you're warmer, but ESPECIALLY if you have cold hands. He'll gladly be a heater for you. And if you're on the cooler side, you're like holding little ice cube for him.

Going back to hands, he's almost always holding your hands. He likes fiddling with your fingers when he's anxious. Softly pressing on the palms of your hands, drawing lines across the divots of your bones, tracing the lines of your palms. He LOVES your hands. Even if they aren't baby soft.

PDA is tricky. He doesn't like the attention it brings. But at the same time, he's not opposed to it. No, he's not gonna be like those couples in fair lines, but he'll hold your hand with ease. He'll have his hand on the small of your back. Just simple stuff.

His favorite spot to kiss you is your shoulder. Oftentimes when cuddling, his face is in your shoulder. Or that spot where your shoulder and neck connect. He'll press soft little kisses there. Nothing ridiculously sexual, just soft little appreciative kisses.

Bob sometimes thinks that he doesn't deserve you. The Void often whispers awful things along those lines when Bob hits a mental rough spot. Of course, that's not true. But it doesn't stop him from thinking about it.

Bob loves watching you in your element. If you're an artist, he loves watching you draw/paint. If you're a writer, he loves letting you bounce ideas off of him. If you're a musician, he loves listening to you play. He just loves watching you do what you love. And if you want to yap about it? OH LORD PLEASE YAP ABOUT IT!!!!! Bob could listen to you yap for HOURS and still never get bored. He loves listening to your voice, and he loves you in your element. Put those together? He's about died and gone to Heaven.

alrighty, let's talk journal 4. this one is going to delve a bit into some headcanons that i have so just be prepared for that!

Buddy of mine died today.

so remember how i've talked before about how troy baker says that higgs only acts southern? this is another one of those points where i have to strongly disagree with him. as a general rule, i don't actually like to disagree with the actor, because they have spent more time as that character, but this sentence right here is sooooo fucking southern.

i have said this sentence. my dad has said this sentence. my uncles, aunts, friends, brother, people all around me who have lived here (louisiana) their entire lives, they have ALL said this. when we say "buddy" here, it means a CLOSE friend. it can mean a kid you went to school with and have stayed close friends with for forever, or a work friend who became close, basically any sort of friendship that developed into a STRONG, very close relationship.

basically, higgs/peter here is saying, essentially, that he lost a best friend on this day.

He was out in the mountains, on a delivery, and it was so goddamn foggy, I guess he lost sight of the trail. He called me, asking for help, but then the line went dead.

yeah, i, uh, don't really have much to say for this one. i wonder how the friend called higgs/peter, as i am fairly sure that cell phones are a thing of their distant past now, but maybe he had some stolen bridges tech or something.

I saw the voidout from here. Nearly blinded me. Guess he wandered into BT territory.

i do want to discuss this one a bit more in detail. there is grief in these lines. i don't need to hear it recited by his VA to know that. i can tell by how clipped these sentences are. i went back and reread my analysis for the other journals thus far to see and higgs rarely writes in this short, clipped manner unless he is upset or interested. in these few sentences, he is definitely mourning heavily the loss of this friend.

it makes me a little sad, honestly, that we have no real information about this friend. no name. no story. no idea how long they were friends. no idea how they became friends. but even so, the raw grief that i can feel in these few sentences tells me all i need to know: they were close enough that higgs tried to reach him. he saw the voidout from wherever he was, presumably running to try and save his friend.

There's not many of us porters left these days. Not many you could trust to get the job done, anyway. Folks quitting or dying, going MULE— attrition's a bitch.

they're on the losing side of a war and higgs is beginning to see it. i'm a bit surprised myself that higgs did not end up going MULE, frankly. i think it could have happened had he not got in with coffin. there's, again, a lot of grief here. i imagine that porting must be a lonely job, even though i believe that porters often run together to watch one another's backs.

either way, you can see higgs starting to turn here just a little. it isn't what he will become in the future, of course, but i think the seeds are planted here. he's seeing that there's a fair bit of hopelessness to everything here. considering he went from "community's what it's all about" in the previous journal to, as seen shortly "we're fucked, we're all fucked", the death of his friend certainly hurt him deep within.

If we're to keep on, we're gonna need better equipment… and someone else who can track BTs. I can still manage sometimes, but my power's getting weaker. I can feel it. Just wish I knew what to do, cause at this rate, I'm fucked. We all are.

herein i delve into a bit of headcanon. why would his DOOMS powers be weakening? what would cause that? it doesn't seem like any other DOOMS sufferer has powers that weaken and then are strengthened anew by the act of murder, so why does higgs/peter?

amelie. i think it's amelie's doing.

look, i'll be honest. i don't like amelie. the fact that she was given a full-blown redemption arc was, to me, total bullshit. i think the game overall was much more interesting when it was painting her as the big bad. and sure, perhaps it did not quite paint the moral that kojima wanted, but it made a better story.

i think that amelie is messing with peter even to this point. i think she is altering his DOOMS level, forcing him to do more and more and worse and worse acts in order to continue sensing BTs. it makes sense to me that she would want to set him up to be her perfect harbinger of extinction. why wouldn't she want him to feel like he'd do whatever he could to continue supping from that well of power?

the stronger he is, the higher his DOOMS level is, the more perfect a harbinger of extinction he becomes.

i could be wrong, maybe i've missed something and other DOOMS sufferers also lose their levels over time. if you know, let me know! otherwise, i will stick to my headcanon.

Next Stellactrum Color Prediction (August 2025)

As far as I can tell, it doesn't really matter which new lunar banner is coming, the number 1 is most likely chance for Sylus and Caleb. For OG3, it's a guess game practically, because they are leading the trends. This prediction is about 6 months long if it's true and they don't change up the patterns.

For the entirety this post I'm going to talk about limited lunar cards, not solar (the myths) cards. They aren't related to this prediction.

More detailed analysis under the cut!

Where does these prediction base of?

They are based on how many cards they have in each their colors by their "importance" and how the previous banners have played out. This isn't related to any unofficial information about future banners. This is purely a speculative post.

Even though there has been some mismatches here and there, in general, the OG3 have always had their respective color importance at the same time in relation their release. For Sylus, he seems to follow this same logic as OG3, but 6 months late. Same for Caleb, but he's a ~1 year late.

About the color importance

So there's a certain order for the guys that they have with their stellactrum colors. This is meant to prevent too much overlap with each other, so each of them have a different color as their most important color, and so on with the order. The community has noticed a certain trend for when they release these colors, and typically it is that the 1st and 2nd colors come in the first 6 months of the LI's initial release, and the later colors after that.

It's important to note that 2nd and 3rd colors seems to be the "gatekeeped" colors. I am going to talk more about 2nd colors later in Sylus's prediction, but 3rd colors so far have had only one limited banner, but the heartfelt gift cards have been 3rd colors. So far those are done for now, so for any surveys, please remember to politely ask more free cards in that style.

OG3 current prediction

As I mentioned, the OG3 (Xavier, Zayne, Rafayel) lead the trend for this since they are the first released characters. We are in an interesting time period now, since we just got our 4th limited 1st colors, and we are still missing 1 of each 5th colors and 6th colors. The 3 have equal amount of limited lunar 5* cards, so it's really a guessing game right now. Zayne wil have his birthday in a month, which most likely will put the amount to offset and lead until Xavier gets his birthday card or Rafayel will get his solo card for the year.

Practically speaking there's 3 options, if the next banner is a multi:

The prediction I have now just for that they would want to have 5th color "completed" for now, and Zayne will have a 6th color for his birthday (Rafayel's was 5th). This could hold true to Xavier as well.

They will try to match Zayne's and Rafayel's birthday color importance, which would mean that if the next banner is a multi, the colors would be 6th for the OG3 and Zayne's birthday (and Xavier's as well) would be 5th as well.

They throw out a new color again which throws off my predictions for them 😭

But if we get to the situation that all 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th colors have 3 cards for them, it's going to be interesting to see if we are going to get more of the cards randomly in the order, rather than clumping them into the 1-2 and 4-6 groups.

A year ago there was a bit of discrepency between the color amounts with the LI's. Rafayel got 6th color before his 5th, and Xavier got his 3rd color later than his birthday, which was odd.

Anyway, ever since Nightly Rendezvous "fixed" the colors for the OG3 to be exactly equal (11th card in my second slide), they haven't strayed from this path regardless of solo cards. I'm going to assume they will do their best to stay in this trend with the OG3 having the same color importance in the same banner, and use the solo banners to catch up with the card colors.

Sylus prediction

I feel Sylus has followed the "intended" OG3 path now, so I'm not expecting huge differences to Sylus either. So overall, don't expect pinks or greens anytime soon again unless they decide to do something really unexpected for his cards. Also, if they keep this up, you can expect to see the same colors as the OG3 has now in arond 6 months, which are the ? slots in the prediction slots for now.

Why not greens?

Because if we look at OG3 limited history, they haven't had a limited 2nd color run in over a year. Rafayel was the last who got his 2nd color, and it was over a year ago in June. Xavier has been the longest without a limited second color, his latest being in April last year. So I'm not really expecting them to do a limited green run for Sylus anytime soon other than his myth rerun later this year, when it's been around 11-12 months of its release.

The OG3 have much better position with their second colors, because they still got a 2nd color free card to Wishing well with the Prologue to Tomorrow. So far Sylus and Caleb haven't got equal treatment for this (and their standard content, but that's a discussion for another time).

Anyway, you don't want to have the green as the limited run for "equality" for Sylus. Why? Because The wishing Well cards are so, so important to your team and you can rank up them without spending diamonds to them directly. And you can get them at any time. My R3 Seething Flames is almost always in my teams, so I really hope Sylus and Caleb will get their 2nd colors in the Wishing well soon, because it's very necessary.

Caleb prediction

Caleb is soon entering his "4-6th color phase" after the next card. So I'm just going to say this - the next card is likely your last chance to get a 5* lunar purple card for Caleb in over a year, if Caleb is following Sylus's lead. I already covered his green in there, so same applies to Caleb with his purple. Similarly to Sylus, he's following the OG3 ~1 year late (at this time last year, OG3 got their first 4th colors) and Sylus ~6 months late. Since he is the latest addition, his color order kind of is the easiest to predict.

Overall patterns I have noticed

The first 6 months is the 1st-2nd color period with the LIs release

After that, they will roll out 4th-6th colors until there is the very least 3 x 4th colors, 2x 5th and 6th colors

There is a 6 month period between getting a new 1st color after the 6 month release period.

There is only 1 x 3rd color limited lunar card after the LI's release (so far)

They try to rotate the talents as well (ATK, DEF, HP) but I'm too lazy to keep track of them outside just memorizing them for Rafayel - He is missing a green ATK card and a blue DEF card, and a limited DEF pink card. It probably won't come as he has 2 pink DEF cards as non-limited.

Ever since Nightly Rendezvous, the OG3 has had equal color importance = card release order regardless of the solo cards in between.

I hope this was interesting. Of course these are only predictions based on banner history, so of course these can change places and orders, but I don't think they will deviate too much from the color amounts for Sylus and Caleb compared to OG3. If we see something else than 2 purple, green, blue and red crystals on a possible multibanner announcement's material growth event preview, we know my prediction was way off.

There's been a post on twitter going around since yesterday about 'how to spot ai fanfic' and that thing is harmful AS FUCK.

It's essentially all things humans do when writing because, guess what? IT WAS TRAINED ON OUR FUCKING WRITING. AO3 WAS SCRAPED. REPEATEDLY. I use em dashes. I use italics a lot. I use repetitive formulas sometimes SPECIFICALLY TO MAKE CALLBACKS IN MY OWN FICS. I use choppy sentences, again as a choice, when I want a character's panic or anxiety to be very obvious so I translate halting and messy thoughts with choppy sentences. I use rhetorical questions. Am I a fucking robot? NO. Those are fucking stylistic choices because I have basic understanding that punctuation and length are used to give your prose a FUCKING. RHYTHM/PACE.

They also say people with new accounts might be ai and???????? HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF PEOPLE GETTING NEW ACCOUNTS BECAUSE THEY DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE IN THEIR OLD ACCOUNTS ANYMORE?? I changed my twitter account 3 FUCKING TIMES. "First fanfic ever might be ai. Had an account for a long time but just started might be ai" because people can't start writing anymore, apparently. Or can't decide to finally take a leap and start publishing stuff after spending a long time in fandoms because they feel like it or weren't confident before. Don't piss me off. Or my favorite bullet point of theirs: "long sentences are a sign of ai. Long paragraphs are a sign of ai". BITCH. I'm sorry I have some vocabulary and enough imagination and skills to describe stuff and say the sky is blu, the grass is green and you look pretty WITH MORE THAN 3 DAMN WORDS. And also, I'm sorry for being dramatic and liking long and lengthy text. My bad. Are you for real?????

I've held my tongue for long enough but it really bugs me that being particularly concerned with the tiny details when something that you are so passionate about and care a great deal about is being adapted can be misconstrued by others as you being overwhelmingly negative/pearl clutching/needlessly hating on something even when that is not your intention whatsoever.

For a book that is over 212 years old, I am grateful that Pride and Prejudice retains such a comparatively large fandom and that Jane Austen enjoyers are still so active and engaged in discussing her timeless masterpieces every single day. That is incredible! I don't even think Austen herself could have comprehended that.

However, despite that continued fascination, as you would expect to be the case with something so old, there doesn't tend to be an awful lot of new things that we can discuss.

So of course, when there is a new adaptation... people are going to analyse little details about it. I cannot speak for everyone but I know in my case it is absolutely not because I want to tear it down before it has even been made, like I know can and does happen in more toxic parts of the Austen fandom. I am not concerned with how the Netflix production of Pride and Prejudice lives up to other adaptations or whether the general public will like it more than my particular favourite. I want it to be good. I want it to bring this incredible story to a new audience and lead people to fall in love with the novel as I did.

But at the same time... if I see things that I'm personally not sure about... I will say something here on my blog because these characters are so dear to me. I would never send hate to anyone involved in the actual production and I wish them all the best. But this adaptation is definitely happening and while we keep getting glimpses of it, I am going to have opinions about it.

I genuinely hope that the post I made about being nervous about Elizabeth being portrayed as a tomboy ends up being completely unnecessary and a massive overreaction on my part (I know, who would ever have expected a tumblr user with the URL bennetsbonnet to care about Elizabeth's fashion choices sdjhsjkd)... but no one can quite yet say whether that will be the case or not. I know too that although I tried to do some quick research to convey why I was not impressed with the outfit, I did get some things wrong (I am only human) but I was fortunate enough to receive some wonderful and graceful responses from people who understood that my intentions were not malicious.

I genuinely hope that this is a fantastic adaptation that captures the spirit of the novel perfectly and only brings more people into the Pride and Prejudice fandom. I hope that it's the best one yet! Although it's quite clear what my current personal favourite adaptation of Pride and Prejudice is, my allegiance is first and foremost to the novel. It is incomparable and no adaptation thus far has lived up to it.

Anyway, I have a thick skin and a block button, so I will continue to share my opinions because I really appreciate discussing these things with other likeminded people and I am grateful for anyone who takes their time to write something thoughtful in response. But I just wanted to make it abundantly clear that nothing I ever write here is out of a desire to disparage and baselessly criticise.

I love Pride and Prejudice, which is (to me) Jane Austen's magnum opus and one of the greatest novels ever written. I have opinions about how Pride and Prejudice is perceived in popular culture. If either of those things make you upset, then perhaps my posts are not for you!

i think i might have been one of the first people to propose a knight papyrus theory a few years back; at the time, i tried to check whether anyone else had the same idea, and don't remember finding much more than maybe a few offhand comments…

so it's always been kind of interesting to stumble upon people's unfiltered reactions to the idea. i didn't really keep up with other knight papyrus theory posts (or videos– i never watch theory videos lol) over the years, so i have no idea which points specifically made people go “this is some nonsensical Game Theory bull shit”, whether it's largely a reaction based on vibes, or whether i just had an Objectively Really Dumb Theory (it happens)

i do wonder if people assume its conception went like "Fan thinks of absurd premise to try to keep their blorbo relevant" -> "Fan works backwards to try to make the absurd premise sound credible". so i'd like to try to explain how i personally came to the conclusion back then

post-chapter 2, i wasn't thinking about knight candidates right away because i assumed it was too early in the game to guess. one of my top priorities was "Where The Hell Is My Most Specialest Boy Ever" because a meeting with papyrus was teased in chapter 1, only for chapter 2 to go, "well, actually, he's busy, and you probably won't see him until the game's nearly over” (if you're new here, i have a Very Particular Fondness for papyrus so please be nice 🙂)

so i tried to work out what his deal might be based on the pieces of information we had at the time: UT papyrus' many unexplained oddities, his nonexistent backstory, and deltarune's events kicking off shortly after the skeletons move in… i also tried ruling out roles he wouldn't realistically have in deltarune. for one, it was becoming apparent that he's not someone we're going to encounter out and about in hometown, so i started to make peace with the idea that he's not likely to become an ally/temporary party member in the dark world

but (and i think this tends to be a major point of contention) from, i guess, a doylist perspective, i'm fully convinced that Something of Note will happen with papyrus in deltarune-- that we learn something new about him/find out how he became The Way He Is in undertale (since it's now generally agreed that sans, at least, originated from the deltarune world).

but it'd be really strange if a character who was completely absent and barely ever mentioned for the majority of the game suddenly appeared near the end just to be involved in Something Important. "unless," i thought, "we found out that character had been present somehow...!"

and then i remembered that the knight is a yet-unidentified lightner. i was actually a bit freaked out by the realization because i started thinking things like "if this is true, people might start thinking badly of papyrus... & also i'm gonna have to beat the shit out of him..." (i'm medicated now, so i am no longer concerned with such things 👍)

for a lot of the same reasons, i actually also find "Papyrus is the Warrior" to be decently compelling too lol. but as of now, my prediction is "Papyrus is the body/vessel of the Knight and Dess is the mind/soul” because my mom lets me have two knight theories

Pursuant to your ask about my characterization in Self Control... I've reread that story over dozens of times because I wrote it self-indulgently to be this: All the drama of Season 1 of OG as told through DiaLuci and explain some of the unexplained, to question thier friendship, their lust, and their love. It starts very strongly as Diacifer, but even then, after a certain arc, the unknowing Lucifer chaotically changes the narrative through sheer force of will before the pendulum swings back. Even my Diacifer story couldn't help but be somewhat undefined.

I love DiaLuci in most ways, but I personally cannot enjoy a DiaLuci where they are not friends. In my opinion, their friendship is an equalizer and also one of the most beautiful things about them. I'll accept that they don't get together but I won't accept dissolving their friendship. It's also why I generally avoid certain kinds of dark fics because it's natural to extrapolate them into certain dynamics and I'm a Diavolo Stan (I can't see him bastardized, sorry folks). XD although I read one where they kidnap MC, disappear them from everyone else, and essentially turn MC into their child which is an interesting concept... I think that's as dark as I'll read for DiaLuci since at least they're both Like That in that one.

Elaborating on power dynamics; dialuci are like me and my irl partner in many aspects; I don't read it like that literally but definitely symbolically. My life experience primes me to accept certain aspects about them that others would call a clear power dynamic. Two people for whom fate resolves around transcends what their roles appear to be. It isn't necessary for me that Lucifer must balance their relationship by always being in control. I think Diavolo is one for whom Lucifer would willingly lose it.

There is a reason why power bottom fics are a very popular DiaLuci concept. They fit very neatly into the tropes. We love a beautiful prideful man who treats himself as infallible getting absolutely destroyed by the impact of someone changing him in unpredictable ways. To be with someone is to sacrifice things about yourself and how can someone like him simply choose be this vulnerable? Besides, Lucifer is the most popular character for a reason and many people see themselves in him. For me, I actually see myself as both Diavolo and Lucifer, which makes writing for them really easy lol. I'm decidedly very unserious about who is top and bottom, but I understand that people have their preferences (some of my fic is thinly veiled porn and what is the point if it doesn't make someone feel something? [I am an Ace]) it's why I write and draw both!

Diavolo is a huge masochist for Lucifer. Canon af. He's also a shit disturber and a bit of a brat. The DiaLuci playpen is just filled with toys, amirite? So many ways for you to play.

When I made this, I decided to elaborate on thoughts I've already carried for a long time, having struggled to find the words to describe the kind of dialuci that shines for me day by day. I also wanted to reach back into fandom history and follow convention, something that Solodeus adopted but DiaLuci didn't. This poll is doing double duty; I get insight into what kind of content I could make for the majority and what treats I get to make for the minority. But one thing I won't do is reach too far into one side or the other. In my Diacifer, Lucifer will never be written with absolute bottom tropes and Diavolo will never be written with absolute top tropes. I just can't feel that characterization. Same for if it's the other way around in Lucivolo.

Like I said, DiaLuci and LuciDia are synonymous to me and it is only for ease that I only use DiaLuci. However, if it helps to pinpoint where on the dialuci spectrum you are for the purposes of discussing stories/art and tagging content, I'll likely start tagging my switch-top Lucifer as LuciDia in addition to. (I'm sure Diavolo won't complain) 😏

Something I've thought about for a long time (est.2023) and have come to some sort of conclusion about: I used to tag LuciDia along with DiaLuci, but I stopped tagging it because DiaLuci to me has always been a switch ship. I mainly write switch so it was redundant. It's in the name. If Lucifer was bottom it would be Diacifer. If Diavolo was bottom it would be Lucivolo. But no, DiaLuci, an umbrella ship name that includes their smaller dynamics, DiaLuci. They both deserve everything they get from eachother and we would be lesser to omit every possibility of theirs.

I'm going to hazard that I'm a DiaLuci Hotspot since I have been drawing them in all ways for over two years now, and, for fun, I would like to poll you for some science!
