theoretically. making a visual novel where a character had a random different set of sprites for every day wouldn't be THAT hard right? like you could just have a random number picker choose a different set
#marin rambles#im thinking abt making one of my characters have uh. what's it called. the thing where patches of ur skin are different colors#and iirc those patches change with some regularity#so i was thinking if i ever made this into a real visual novel i could just make like six versions of the same poses with diff skin tones#and then switch between those sets every time an in-game day passes#might be simpler to just hand-choose the set though since i don't rly want to make six different cgs every time she's in one#idk! just thinkin

Back at it again with my Inphection AU >:)
I’m gonna draw these guys eventually, but until then, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to share my ideas for some of the Smilings.
For starters, I take a lot of factors into play when coming up with infected designs, including pre-existing powers, personality/vibes, etc. Many Smilings are similar, but none are exactly alike. The virus is constantly mutating, and so are they, after all. Anyways, onto the designs!
Infected Banhammer looks like a mix between regular Ban, a Tank from Left 4 Dead 2, and a biblically accurate angel. The blindfold is gone, his horns are overgrown, and to comply with his recent-ish redesign he’s covered in smokey grey fur. Dozens of functioning eyes are scattered all across his body. He still has parts of his armour, but a good chunk of it has been broken/discarded due to the fact that this guy is now built like a gorilla on steroids. He can walk upright, but prefers to walk on his knuckles due to being a lot more top heavy overall. Shockingly; he can still fly.
Infected Slingshot is a couple feet taller than normal, but as opposed to the brutish and bulky Banhammer, Sling’s a lot more nimble and sleeker. With an elongated spine, patches of fur, sharp claws, and a tail, bro’s not beating the furry allegations/hj In all seriousness, I made Slingshot with big cats in mind, especially cougars/leopards. He’s not the biggest Smiling, but he’s stealthy and scarily fast. While his shoes don’t work properly due to him walking exclusively on all fours, Sling can still use them to get some serious height while pouncing, so look out!
Infected Katana is built similarly to Banhammer, but with a lot more avian features. He’s covered head to toe in feathers, for starters. And while he hasn’t quite learned how to fly with those new wings of his, it’s only a matter of time until he does. Reflecting his past personality, this smiling mostly keeps to himself. But anyone unfortunate enough to catch his attention will be lucky to make it out unscathed. My inspiration for Katana is simple: Owlbears and Griffins. He still has his mask oddly enough, but it’s been pushed aside to reveal his twisted, grinning face. It IS called the smile virus after all…
And finally, the last smiling I’ll talk about today is Subspace. He spends a large majority of the apocalypse cooped up in his lab, even after his transformation. The best way I can describe his design is ‘scorpion centaur’. His upper half is hardly affected besides his horns (overgrown horns are quite common amongst Smilings), but his lower half is all scorpion-y. He even has a venomous scorpion tail, and just for some added overkill, his venom + saliva are quite corrosive. Oh, and his right arm (which was affected by rot the most iirc) is now very overgrown à la John Doe Forsaken. At least it’s fixed now?
These designs are liable to be changed, but for now, this is what I got.
Last Post (disregarding the mini rant)
Feels kinda weird commenting on my own AU (I got inpatient. Sorry 🥺) so I’ll give that honour to someone else! I try to not hog all the asks, haha.
