#and in a weird way I feel like the tree is Heimerdingers parallel too

Okay, so I legitimately thought nobody would see my little Heimerdinger and Ekko post, but apparently it’s getting some traction… so I feel the need to make another one, hopefully one that explains my thoughts a little better, lol.
Okay, so essentially, Heimerdinger is immortal. And as someone who used to be a teenager obsessed with LOTR I understand all the drama that comes with that, especially the sense of loss. It feels like the older you get, the less time seems significant to you, right? You all use Tumblr; you know what I mean.
Anyway, I think Ekko is a perfect foil for Heimerdinger in that regard because he’s just so young! He’s literally the ‘Boy’ savior.
Him and the firelights are basically the definition of young people fighting against older ideals (also known as the government trying to control them). They’re also, like I said in my previous post, fast. And I’m aware how random that is, but the presence of speed being so relevant in their design feels important to note because we’re comparing them to Heimerdinger… Mr. Slow himself.
They’re about changing the world NOW, about getting what’s needed to their people as soon as they can, and obviously, our beloved Hamster doesn’t share those ideals… until he meets them.
Ekko and his group change him; they show him how quickly things can change (of course, Jayce and Hextech helped with that, lol), and how quickly they need to act to catch up. And he gets it! He learns! And he starts to help, even with the small projects (which is adorable).
I think it’s just beautiful how this ancient furball can finally see a difference being made. He’s used to the slow climb, watching time fade away, but now, suddenly, he can help. He can see things happening in real time, and that opens his eyes to what he needs to do.
And I haven’t even dived into my thoughts about this and the time travel because, come on, I have SO many thoughts on that, but I shall keep it short for your sake.
Anyway, to sum it up, Ekko gave time to him. Sure, he literally helped give time to Ekko (in the form of a machine), but Ekko gave it back to him in the form of perspective.
He gets it now; he gets that he needs to help (personally, I have the headcanon that the other universe is also so good due to Heimerdinger's involvement), and more importantly, he gets that he needs to do it quickly. Not in the rushed manner of Hextech, but in the kind way. Like helping some random kid get back to his tree.
Okay I’m done, thanks for coming to my Ted talk, and I hope this made a bit more sense than my last post. I’m on one brain cell over here guys.
(Also please ignore the quality of some of these gifs, I found half of them off google and the quality SUCKS when you copy and paste them).
