@ anon: I am less concerned w any individual's conduct online, and more w groups presenting themselves as "health / wellness services" in dishonest and dangerous ways.

1 - Someone being rude may be a good reason to turn them down as a volunteer, but not to stop them from simply *using* a crisis support service, but the real issue here is

2 - There is a group of people billing themselves as a "crisis support service" who in reality don't seem qualified to do that in any way, shape, or form, and I am legitimately more worried for the people they are offering "help" to, than I am for the people they turn away.

#this is re a group labeling volunteers as “counselors” after giving them minimal to no training #but without even the advantage of the confidentiality or privacy that non-clinical peer support spaces often offer #they then put bizarre and unclear rules on these *volunteers* and coach them to use dishonest tactics with help-seekers #and instruct them to “call 911 or contact the FBI” in various situations #almost two thousand people seem to have subscribed so it's alarming
