random but i don’t really get why the lightfury is so hated 🥀

i mean like yeah she’s definitely over feminised in the design department (when you look at other female dragons mostly but even so i don’t hate it) BUT i love her character??? like having her unwillingness to make a connection and just to be a little mean overall was so interesting to see especially when she was next to toothless 😭 IDKKK i’m not her biggest fan but she’s defo over hated. she is NOT that bad guys

People can absolutely hate her for whatever reason they want and I don’t get to control that BUT I do have some gripes:

1.) the HTTYD fandom has a huge problem with a lack of independent thinking 😭 every single TikTok edit of the franchise that I’ve seen has one of 3 categories of comments on it that I swear people just copy and paste because they always have the exact same phrasing or talking points. They are as follows:

“The LF design is so gross and over feminized.” “stormfly is a perfect example of a female dragon that they didn’t hyper feminize idk why they had to over do it” “I hate that they made toothless leave hiccup the second he met some girl” “sparkly tampon/glittery beluga/[insert some other derogatory description of the light fury that I’ve seen on 2838289384 other HTTYD posts]” OKAYYYY I GET IT YOU HATE HER ‼️ YOU ALL HATE HER AND YOUR LITTLE HIVEMIND COMPELS YOU TO POST THE SAME 4 COPYPASTAS OVER AND OVER AGAIN OKAYYYY ‼️ OKAY ‼️ I don’t like the end of THW either but whenever i see a whole comment section just repeating the same 2 mean catchphrases about her it cheapens the argument. It makes it feel like there’s not much substance there. Not to mention a lot of the time it feels very ‘I hate the female character for taking the man away from a male character I liked him with more.’ Which usually I see more in shipping than in platonic relationships but it’s so strong in this fandom it genuinely makes me irritated. Maybe it’s because they’re kids movies so a lot of the fandom is still like 13-15 but guys please think critically.

“Fun fact, hiccup knew the timing of toothless’s blasts and could have dodged it so stoick didn’t have to die” fun fact, 36 other people just commented this too and there’s only 37 comments. When people post that like it’s a conspiracy theory they’ve pondered over for months and finally cracked it makes my brain melt. You just pasted that from the video 2 scrolls up!! And so did everyone else!! I think within the fandom there’s a contract I haven’t been asked to sign yet that requires me to post that comment word for word on every video I see but I’ll let you know if the legal team approaches me about it.

“They butchered toothless in the third movie.” “Toothless is just a big slobbering dog in the third movie.” “They completely ruined his design/character in the third movie.” Mhm 😐 say it louder for the people in the back. Oh wait they’re all saying it too? Oh wait you’re all saying it? Oh and you’re all using the exact phrasing every time? I wonder why that is. Did you perhaps arrive at the function in the same bandwagon.

People are ALLOWED to think WHATEVER THEY WANT but it kills me to open up the comments and it’s only those three over and over again in an endless void !!!!!!!!! Repeating the same 3 tired talking points on an endless loop devalues your argument and makes you sound like an angry old curmudgeon rambling and complaining about ‘the way things used to be’. I’m so sick and tired of seeing those that I don’t even bother opening the comments anymore bc I know it won’t be worth my time 💀 please HTTYD likers im begging you. You can criticize whatever and whoever you want just please. Please don’t regurgitate what everyone else says. Think about it and form your own original thoughts and statements about it. PLEASE ‼️ criticize the light fury all you want. I like her but you’re not me and you’re allowed to dislike things that I like!! You’re allowed to think whatever you want!! But please use that privilege !! Think about why you don’t like things and use your own words. I feel like a teacher trying to get my kids to stop writing essays with chatgpt 😭 you all sound like bots. the phrase ‘sparkly tampon’ has been burned into my retinas and if I see someone think they’re being clever and witty with it one more time I’m going to turn into a werewolf I swear.

AND 2.) I love that she’s mean 😭 the whole reason I began writing ‘you and me, as one’ is because I liked exploring a dynamic where hiccup’s magic little hand thing doesn’t work. Yes of course he’s had problems before with dragons but he’s usually got them wrangled by the end of the episode and it’s like NO ‼️ no I want him to struggle I want him to have a moment of realization like oh shit I can’t always rely on that sometimes it’s more complicated. And reader is complicated too! They’ve gotta work for this one 💪
