G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?

Ever so many! Early entrants before I knew fandom was a thing would probably have included Jo/Friedrich (Little Women), Han/Leia (Star Wars), and Alanna of Trebond/Liam Ironarm (Tortall books), although I came around on George pretty handily by the time I finished Lioness Rampant. Ron/Hermione was the first pairing I ever read fic for, though!

#fandom meme #honestly i love enough genre media that a majority of my faves would be kind of terrifying or at least too intense/extroverted #to want to actually hang out with in more conventional senses #and many sitcom characters are TOO quirky and weird and sitcom-y to be like real people. ditto procedural characters.#amy i'd feel great about but i'm not even sure i've got a runner-up there tbh #*strictly speaking i finished 'in the hand of the goddess' and wanted someone for alanna who was not jon #(acceptable dude. fine ruler. good for thayet! clearly never endgame with alanna! horse lords!)#but i also wasn't feeling george at that point for reasons i can't quite recall because this would've been like 1998 #so the introduction of a third option was terrific! but also sort of got you to a place where george as endgame made sense and felt right #(more so than their hooking up in the previous book)#because liam was clearly not endgame and in retrospect that was pretty well written! where he was good enough people for her #but their fundamental differences were truly fundamental even as they were both sorta willing to shrug and be like #you seem cool and v. attractive and interesting and a fellow redhead so might as well have some athletic sex about it #i remember there being a line after he died that was like 'and she went to cry about liam ironarm one last time'#and even sixth grade me was like. feels good feels right. go get your king of thieves and the life you both want together girl!#separately and sadly 'trickster's queen' has been sitting on my nightstand for a year and a half after i plowed through the first one #on my last real vacation in december '23 #i got about 40 pages into the second on the plane home but...#i did REALLY enjoy the next-gen elements of the first one though. and seeing alanna and george as parents!#and what that would be like for their daughter and from her perspective!#alas my own being a parent to an uncanny mini-me has gotten a bit in the way of all that #albeit more mood-wise than in actual time management
