When I made my outline for my latest story I realized "Wait. The protagonist is just angry and miserable for like 75% of the story. This isn't fun. Oh no what do I do???" And then I remembered that the premise involves the protagonist being taken to a palace. With a wide variety of luxurious Things to enjoy. So that just kind of solved itself.

Protip: If your sub's bad mood is bothering you then simply give them a steak that's more expensive than their entire house.

#pretty proud of chapter 1's ending in that regard #establishing that there's a very enjoyable silver lining for him #also came up with a bunch of fun filler chapter concepts where the protag gets to be happy #tho now i'm realizing that the story outline is still a bit sparse with the kinky fun that i was intending for it #but that's basically just how i write at this point lol #plot story with occasional kink #kinda reminds me of adastra in that way #i was sold on it as “an alien anthro wolf hunk kidnaps you to make you his pet” and it was like 85% serious plot 10% romance and 5% sex #unfortunately there was basically no fun “pet” stuff like i wanted but it was a good story #fortunately my story WILL contain kinky fun stuff!#but it doesn't really have any until chapter 3 lol #very much a plot story #by which i mean “i had an idea for a chapter i liked and it turns out i need 9 chapters of setup to get there”#although a bunch of those are the fun filler chapters that are there for tone reasons rather than plot #and one of them is plot filler e.i. there needed to be more in-universe time between two chapters so i had to put something between them #it ALSO helps the tone. i learned my lesson from RTR that putting back-to-back misery is not something you should do carelessly #is it better for the tone to flip-flop between serious angry stuff and fun silly stuff? maybe #i have no idea how to best handle tone lol #ka asks
