Lapidot Angst Week day 6: hallucinations- I tried to do a cover picture for my fanfic, and it turned out like craaaaap because I didn't really try cuz I'm lazy 😅 but whatever...enjoy the fic!     It was the end of the day, and Lapis had just gotten back from a day out with Steven and Connie. As she walked in, she noticed Peridot asleep on the couch. She smiled slightly, and walked in the house quietly, motioning for Steven to be quiet as well. She decided she'd let her sleep for a while after everything she'd been through lately.     Steven walked up the stairs, motioning for Lapis to follow. When they reached his bedroom, Steven suggested that they play video games until Peridot woke up.     “So, how do you play this? Lapis asked, studying the controller.     “You just move this to run, and push this to use your weapon.” Steven said as he demonstrated the functions of the controller.      “Ok. I think I've got it.” Lapis smiled, preparing to start the game.     “Ready….go!” Steven said excitedly as he pressed play.     The pair played competitively for a while until Lapis suddenly stopped paying attention.     “Yes! I win!” Steven pumped his fist in the air, a bright smile spread across his face. However, his smile slowly faded away when he noticed Lapis was distracted by something.     “Lapis...are you okay? You look worried…” Steven pointed out.     “I just... thought I heard something.” Lapis said, concentrating on the environment around her.     “What's that?” She asked herself. A beam of tinted green light was illuminating the living room. As Lapis moved closer to the edge of the loft to see what it's source was, she saw Peridot's gem was the cause. A hologram was being projected from Peridot's gem.     “What's she doing?” Lapis asked, hoping Steven would know.     “I think she's dreaming. This happened to Pearl before too.” He explained.     “What's she dreaming about? She looks upset…” lapis pointed out when looking at the unsettled expression on Peridot's face.     “Let's go down and look.” She suggested, heading down the stairs before Steven could even say anything.     Lapis stopped in her tracks at the first sight of what the projection was displayed. She was there, with Peridot, in front of the diamonds. They were saying something- something bad- but she couldn't understand them. Suddenly, one of the diamonds lifter her foot, and smashed dream-Lapis, leaving Peridot alone, and in awe.     Lapis gasped at the sight of herself getting shattered. Her hand flew over her mouth in surprise. At the same time, Peridot shot up from the couch, sweat rolling down her forehead, and her eyes bloodshot. She gasped for air, struggling to catch her breath.     Lapis stood, stuck in place for a moment as she tried to comprehend everything that was happening before snapping to her senses and rushing to Peridots side.     “Peridot! It's ok! You'll be ok…” Lapis reassured the small green gem, bracing her hands on her shoulders.     It took a moment for Peridot to finally realize she was back in reality.     “Lapis!” Peridot gasped, jumping into Lapis's arms. “I-I envisioned that we were captured by the diamonds, a-and they...they...sha-...shattered you.” Peridot choked on a sob, tears streaming down her cheeks and rolling off Lapis's shoulder.     “Shhh, it's alright. It was just a dream.” Lapis cooed, her voice cracking. She hated seeing Peridot like this.     “You can't- … ever leave me, ok? Don't ever leave again.” Peridot's voice strained as she struggled to talk due to her constant sobbing.     “It's alright, I'll never leave you. Don't worry about it, ok?” Lapis squeezed Peridot as tight as she could, making sure she felt safe in her grasp.     Peridot sniffed in response, wiping the tears from her eyes.     “Are you going to be okay?” Lapis asked, leaning away from Peridot so she was able to look I'm her eyes.     Peridot shrugged her shoulders, leaning back into Lapis's chest.     Lapis looked up at Steven, giving him a worried glance as she held the small, shaking gem in her arms tightly.     Steven gave the same worried look back before he began to talk.     “Hey, how about we go watch a movie in my room to get your mind off of everything. What’d you think, Peridot?” Steven suggested, walking over to her and placing his hand on her frale shoulder.     “O-ok…” she said meekly.     Lapis stood up and led Peridot upstairs to Steven's bedroom and onto his bed.     “I think I have a camp pining hearts DVD somewhere here.” Steven said as he rummaged through a box of videos. “Aha! Here it is!” Steven said as he took the DVD out of the case and placed it in the DVD player before sitting on the bed next to Peridot and Lapis.     After around 20 minutes, Peridot finally started to calm down. During a kissing scene with Percy and Paulette, peridot let out a long sigh as she gazed at the TV through half closed eyes. With this, Lapis grabbed Peridot's hand and held it tightly. Surprised, Peridot flinched slightly at the sudden contact. But when Lapis kept her gaze on the television, Peridot didn't question it. She didn't need to question it. This was all she'd wanted since Lapis first left in fear of the diamonds attacking.
