Chicken Noodle Soup and Emotionally Charged Milk?
🧁 Sprout learns about the many cooking fails from Modern Vee and tries to teach her the most basic chicken noodle soup recipe ever... It goes as well as you'd expect 🧁
🍓 Modern Shellvision au belongs to @soupiestzilla / @soupiestfics 🍓 Caretaker Shanon au is mine! 🍓
☕︎ I have way too much fun with these story intros - Anyways fun fact! Sprout and Toon Vee have a brother-sister relationship, but never will admit such a thing. Toon Shelly stops any sibling wars from breaking out lol ☕︎

"Alright, so we're going to use THIS cookbook and nothing else, we are NOT going to add edible glitter and we are making EDIBLE SOUP." Sprout stated firmly, making the tv he was talking to huff and cross her arms.
"But everything tastes better with edible glitter..." Modern Vee pouted, making the berry facepalm and take in a deep breath.
"No. No glitter in the soup." He restated, slapping her hand when she reached for it. Modern Shelly, shivering under a blanket from a cold, just watched on the stool in the kitchen, sipping her herbal tea and trying so hard not to laugh.
"I AM PUTTING THE DARN GLITTER IN THE SOUP-"
"NO YOU ARE NOT-"
"STOP ME BERRY BOY~!" Modern Vee screamed as she grabbed it, though it wasn't him that stopped her. It was Shanon, who had grabbed her wrist to stop her and had taken the glitter out of her hand without a word, then walked right past the toons to the laundry room to finish up the laundry for the day. It now sat on the counter, and the Modern tv host was stunned into silence.
"Your mom is a ninja." Modern Vee commented, making Modern Shelly burst out laughing while Sprout shook his head, taking yet another deep breath to try to remain patient as Toon Vee was heard loudly sneezing in the other room.
"Why must the only one not sneezing and coughing be the one that wants to put glitter in chicken noodle soup..?" He grumbled, looking over at Toon Shelly when she came over. She didn't say anything, just gave him an empty soda bottle, and when he looked over it, he nodded and gave her a new one. She just wanted more Sprite, he's fine with that. What he wasn't fine with however, was the fact that the soup base now had glitter in it. Thankfully it wasn't overkill, but he's still disappointed in it.
"Fine, edible glitter in the soup. Just that much though, any more and it'll taste like glitter, not soup. God damn... Okay okay, uh, we need to cut the veggies and start the noodles." Sprout stated as he went to do just that, making the TV host tilt her head.
"What do you mean we? I'm banned from cooking, remember?"
"I'm teaching you so you can be unbanned, if you'd stop trying to put 15 pounds of glitter into the soup." Sprout pointed out, making the host nod, but she just watched him as he did the work so she "didn't ruin anything". In reality she kept trying to sneak more glitter in the soup, and Sprout was getting very annoyed by it. However, they eventually successfully made glittery chicken noodle soup, and Feelings Milk.
"What the hell is Feelings Milk?" Sprout asked when the robot started to make the bright blue concoction, though Toon Shelly seemed excited to have it as she came toddling in when she heard the milk was being made.
"Feelings Milk??? The milk that tastes like cotton candy???" She asked, making Modern Vee grin like a maniac. Modern Shelly just looked concerned, knowing that this probably wouldn't end well.
"Yeah more feelings milk! Because we all need to have milk that tastes like cotton candy and happiness!" Modern Vee cheered, making Sprout blink a few times.
"That doesn't sound... Edible..." Sprout pointed out, now understanding why the tv host was banned from cooking in the first place. Oh he has no idea how else she's messed up... He will never know how Feelings Milk is the least of his concerns. Modern Shelly just sighed, shaking her head, knowing that this was a horrible idea. The entire thing was, that host would set off an explosion and call it "drama" and toss glitter all over it if she was allowed in a kitchen unsupervised again. She didn't say anything though, she just sat back and watched the show, finding it quite humorous watching Sprout attempt to fix an unfixable problem that is 'Modern Vee has no care for cooking'. She wished her camera battery didn't die that morning so she could've recorded all of this, it would've made for a hilarious video.
"So you add this to the milk and then it tastes like cotton candy and happiness, it's TOTALLY edible!" Modern Vee argued as she made a glass of the bright blue milk, and Sprout just raised an eyebrow at it.
"It looks radioactive, I wouldn't drink that even if it was the only thing to drink in the house." He pointed out, stepping away from it when the horrible cook tried to give him the weird blue concoction. It did smell like cotton candy though, and he was starting to get the tiniest bit curious about it.
"Drink it, I promise you won't die, unless you're lactose intolerant." The host begged, but Sprout just stood his ground, turning around and avoiding it silently, arms now crossed. He kept just silently going in circles as the overly insistent toon kept trying to force him to drink it, but he soon lost the battle as a new challenger faced him.
It was Toon Shelly, giving him the perfect sad puppy eyes and pouting just enough to shatter his heart, who made him give in to the Feelings Milk. He took only a sip at first, but was very obviously shocked to find it did taste just like cotton candy... And something else familiar.
"How the hell..? I... I... I can't believe it..." He muttered, now in disbelief over some bright blue milk, free hand now covering his mouth a little bit as he thought. He looked overwhelmed, but not uncomfortable, more like shocked to his core than anything. He had remembered some things that he had forgotten from a bad head injury... And the positive feelings he felt now were a little too overbearing, especially since he was now heavily thinking about someone he had lost years ago.
"It tastes just like cotton candy and the happiest memory of my life... How the hell..? Why are you messing with me like this?!" He asked louder, getting a blank stare in reply.
"That's the magic of Feelings Milk, my guy. It makes all the gays feel that way..." Modern Vee reassured as she patted his shoulder, Sprout's eyes soon welling up with tears as he sipped it again.
"How did you know I had a boyfriend..?" He asked softly, getting a laugh out of her in reply. Then she stopped, realizing he was serious and also seriously about to cry from Feelings Milk, then she just smiled a bit, genuine.
"I know that look in someone's eyes, that's a look of true love right there. Passion, too. The Feelings Milk never lies... He was a lucky one. Now the gay part I literally just guessed-"
"He was my everything... Best friend, boyfriend, snuggle buddy, cooking assistant... Everything... His favorite frosting was the overly sweet cotton candy flavored stuff... That we'd put on cookies just for him when nobody was looking... I forgot how much I missed that taste... I forgot how happy it used to make me..." Sprout confessed as he wiped his eyes on his sleeve, sniffing back a sob as he held the feelings milk close. Toon Shelly rubbed his back silently, Modern Shelly watched with a hand over her mouth, astonished by the sudden rawness of the berry's feelings. Modern Vee however, just made more feelings milk. She made a whole jug of the stuff, then patted his head before just motioning to it.
"I'll teach you the recipe, take that home with you, you need it. A lot of it."
"Thank you..."
Sprout then sniffed as he put the milk down and went right back to the soup, checking on it silently. Though the group now knew something they never expected... The Feelings Milk worked wonders on the Berry Boy.
The soup was also shockingly edible, and really good. Probably because Sprout did 90% of the work so the sick toons could actually rest and have something comforting to eat. However, the most shocking thing that happened that day, was the fact that for the first time in years- Sprout cried. He had a whole crying session into a pillow, being comforted by the two toons he knew all too well, finally letting himself grieve after everything he went through. He no longer had to put on the tough guy act, he didn't have to sternly watch over everyone, he could relax and start to heal. And he did... All because of the strangely bright blue milk.
The trio now all slept on the couch, all snug under the same blanket, the two lesbians using their brotherly best friend as a bed and cuddling each other on top of him, and he just held them protectively without a care. The Moderns were snug in their own pillow fort, comfortably cuddling each other, a box of tissues between them for the sick fossil. Shanon was silently reading one of her many dinosaur encyclopedias, this one about the jurrasic period, other ones sat on the coffee table beside her. The room smelled like fevers, Feelings Milk and love, the air thick with the feeling of safety, care and well, also love. All sorts of love - family, romance, friends - it was beautiful, almost perfect.
"No seriously, how did you do that? How powerful is Feelings Milk?" Modern Shelly asked after the chaos of the day had fully ended, her head now resting against her Vee's chest as they watched a terrible dinosaur documentary at a low volume on Shanon's living room TV. Modern Vee just looked at her funny, then shrugged.
"I honestly have no clue."

VEE VERSION 1
She’s a machine. She doesn’t know how to express emotions. Maybe that’s what’s wrong with her. Maybe she could’ve fixed it. All the knowledge in the world couldn’t have taught her how to be human. She sticks to collecting items. There was no purpose in keeping anything, she can’t use them anyway.
