there's one time before you and jack start dating, but after you had switched over to night shift, that you need to cover someone during the day so you exchange shifts and are there all day. he doesn't get a text about it, finds out when he sees you running around at six forty-five looking tired and overwhelmed. it makes sense, your sleep schedule had adjusted to nights and it's calmer sometimes so the day shift seems hectic in comparison.
(he doesn't know this, but you were also thrown off. no one making you perfect cups of coffee and tea when you need them, no one handing you a granola bar half way through the shift because he knows you don't sit down and eat unless you're forced. no one encouraging you with silent stares and carefully selected words that you can hear when you close your eyes and try to sleep. no, he doesn't know about any of that.)
so when he finds you for the step-off he cracks a joke about you abandoning the team and going back to your old ways. you tell him right away that you'll be back tomorrow night, and then you lean in just to tell him i'm never going back to day shift. you had just meant it was so much different than what you'd gotten used to and you think you really prefer the schedule like that, prefer the environment and all that. but the words linger in his head the rest of the night. (more specifically—how you leaned in, how it's like a secret the others can't know. night shift has ruined you, spoiled you. you could never go back. at least, that's what he thinks about for the next twelve hours. ruining you and spoiling you. or something like that.)
so you give him and the rest of the night crew a case presentation on the patient you were taking care of all day—and it's really nothing but you go through everything you need to tell him and give your treatment recommendation and justify everything. others from the day shift fill in the blanks and finish out the rest of the story so jack knows what to expect for the rest of the night out of this bed. and he doesn't know why he says it, just feels proud that you presented so well, that you didn't get nervous at his questions, that you didn't doubt the care you gave the patient. leans in and tells you that you did a great job, that he'll miss you tonight. and you beam up at him with that blinding smile, your eyes sparkly and you feel a rush of energy like you could work another twelve hours if he was saying things like that all night.
and your smile. jack sees it often enough, he doesn't know why he has the same reaction every time. temporarily, his brain shuts off. the neurons stop firing. the thoughts die down, the room goes quiet. he just stares at you and smiles back and you two kind of stay like that until robby coughs and the nurses are laughing and your day shift co-residents are nudging each other. and you turn back to them sheepishly, and jack scratches the back of his head and they go to the next patient. but before you leave for the night he makes sure to ask if you've eaten, and you tell him you're about to go do it. and he looks at you kind of serious, and keeps his hand on your upper arm and says make sure that you do.
and well, like always, you listen.

the streets are trying to say mel wouldn’t still like langdon if she knew how he treated santos and i think that’s blatantly not true. she was there the for the first conflict between langdon and santos when she didn’t present before doing a trigger point injection and langdon got pissed. mel also saw how langdon passed over santos to give the crike to her instead. so she knows they don’t get along but has no problem having separate, positive relationships with them despite their animosity towards each other. also if mel knew langdon yelled at santos it would probably include the context of why he did it (drug related crash out LOL) and i think she would recognize that he was not in his right mind when he did that. (i’m not saying he was right to yell or that mel would think he’s in the right. i’m saying she would see it as a symptom of his addiction not as an indication of his character). like if you personally don’t like langdon i get it, but it’s canonically true that langdon is her favorite guy. mel is a langdon apologist. she’s on the front lines.

you know something I’ve seen in mel x frank fics is Mel getting hurt at the ER because of some patient of something like that (and I love Langdon being the one to patch her up because he’s the only she doesn’t mind touching her). BUT how about the opposite???? Langdon getting hurt (his back or needing stitches) and Mel being the one to take care of him because she’s one of the few who’s not treating him differently after coming back from rehab. Either way we get flustered Mel and/or flustered Langdon and I love it

have lots to say about the new episode of the pitt but right now i'm just gonna stick with the fact i think whitaker being the one to find robby was such a good writing choice. had anyone else walked into that room, robby probably never would've gotten up. that could either be because he has too much history with them (langdon, dana, and abbot) or because they probably wouldn't be able to say the right words to say to get him off the floor for whatever reason (mel, javadi, mohan, and santos).
whitaker is the only person around who wouldn't make it personal or awkward. he knows what it means to fail when it is completely out of your control, and most importantly, he doesn't have the world's highest expectations of robby. yeah he respects him, but not because he's worked with robby forever or anything. he respects robby because robby is his attending and is clearly knowledgable, no more and no less. whitaker sees robby, one of the most competent people he knows, on the floor having a breakdown. he also sees the dozens of people outside who need treatment and drags robby back out with him, because like whitaker so plainly puts it, if robby doesn't get back out there, they're fucked. for him, it's that simple, and it wouldn't be that simple for anyone else, and what they needed in that moment was someone who'd robby the hell back out there as fast as possible while still validating his feelings, and that's exactly what whitaker could do.
(whitaker also sees the hospital and medical school and all that in a different light than the other characters. he's a first generation college student from the middle of nowhere, studied theology in undergrad, and doesn't have any family involved in medicine. this isn't as related to this post specifically but it's relevant because it makes his approaches to everything very different, which we often see)

Ok, my super specific Kingdon head canon is that Langdon has been searching for a best friend his entire life, but has never been able to find one because he keeps on trying to be best friends with older, male mentor figures rather than his peers (something, something, daddy issues).
I keep on thinking about this because of Langdon's conversation with Robby about whether or not they are best friends, when it is so obvious to anyone with eyes that the closest thing that Robby has to a best friend is probably Abbott.
Langdon and Abby weren't friends to begin with, not sure about the background story with that, but maybe it was more of an on-off situation that got more serious with time. Both genuinely loved each other, even though they both suspected that they might not have been right for each other. Both rushed into the marriage at a pretty young age because they wanted to hit the next milestone in their life which for them involved marriage, a starter home, and children.
So when Langdon (freshly and amicably divorced in my headcanon), starts becoming friends and then best friends with Mel he is genuinely elated and proud because it is the kind of soul bond connection that he had been searching for his entire life but never managed to find. They just get each other, and no one has ever just gotten him before her.
But because Langdon has never had a best friend, and because Mel's best friend her entire life has been her sister, neither of them are fully aware that even best friends have boundaries, much to the bafflement of everyone in the ED.
Langdon is like, of course Mel spends time with my kids every weekend, they are obsessed with her and so am I because she is my best friend. And Mel is like, of course when Langdon stays over we share a bed, he has a bad back and when Becca was living with me full time, she and I would often cuddle on especially cold nights. Mel shows up to the ED late in Langdon's monogrammed scrubs because all of the ones that she kept at Langdon's place were in the wash and he was kind enough to lend her a pair of his. Langdon carries around chocolate and Advil for Mel when it is her time of the month, because he is a feminist and of course he knows her cycle as well as she does, because he's her best friend.
Meanwhile, everyone in the ED is waiting for the two of them to figure out that being best friends and romantic life partners are not mutually exclusive to one another.

You Can Be My Patient | Dr. Mel King x Gn!Reader
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Firefighter!Reader runs into girlfriend Dr. King after they get hurt on the job.
⚠️TW⚠️: Talk of suicide, guns, gunshot wounds, lots of blood
A/N: There are for sure medical inaccuracies in here, apologies in advance. Doesn't follow the actual plot of the show so no spoilers, also heavily inspired by 9-1-1 🙂‍↕️
Word Count: 1,788
Noise clung to you like static. The only thing you could really make out was the thunderous sound of your heart beating in your ears. The last thing you remembered for certain was an ear-splitting boom, before nothing.
It was called in as just a kid on a ledge. Something you were the best on the team at. What no one had noticed, was that this kid wasn't just suicidal.
He had wanted to take others out with him.
None of the several 911 callers had seen the gun, what with him standing at the top of a billboard why would they have? He wanted to lure someone up there with him.
And that someone just so happened to be you.
You stood at the edge of the aerial ladder as your partner slowly rose you up enough to step onto the billboard where you called out to him. You never saw it until it was too late. And by then, the officer that had been canvassing from below took a shot as well.
The two of you hit the rungs at the same time, your name being screamed over your crackling radio the last thing you could make out over the buzzing in your ear.
Your eyes shifted, taking in your bloodied surroundings as a means of control as your nervous system began to override everything else. You were just in your team’s ambulance, but you had never seen it from this perspective before, and where you formerly felt confident you now just felt foreign.
Adrenaline coursed through you, leaving you shaking and breathless even as you just laid on the gurney.
Callie, your favorite paramedic at your station, stroked your hair with one hand as she kept pressure on your wound with the other.
"Hey, we're almost there, 'k? We're getting you to the best doctors possible. We're two minutes out alright, just hold on."
As your panic began to increase as whatever initial shock you had started to wear off, you were more and more aware of the bullet wound in your shoulder. The agonizing burn of it, to be more specific.
You could feel the hot sticky liquid flowing down your arm and your back, and knew without a shadow of a doubt that it coated the floor as well. You could smell the metallic properties of it, unsure if part of it was fused with the burnt metal of the bullet.
"Where's the kid?" You managed to ask her, your voice dry and cracking.
"He's in the other ambulance, GSW to the head. Don't worry about him though, just worry about you."
You closed your eyes, overcome by a sudden bout of nausea as the ambulance came to an abrupt halt, the wheels of the gurney shaking you.
They rolled you through the doors of the E.R., the bright lights making you close your eyes tightly as a reverberating pounding began from the back of your head. Callie shushed you gently as a small groan left your lips.
Fingers pulled your right eyelid back right as a bright light was shone directly into your eyeball. You knew what they were doing, but in your dazed state, all you wanted was to keep every light possible out of your line of sight.
The hand holding your eyelid dropped it but immediately picked up the other eyelid and shone the light in that eye while another set of hands held your head still.
Words you couldn't quite comprehend were thrown at and around you as your head was released and you felt the movement of the gurney you laid on. You heard "Dr. Langdon" and managed to open your eyes on your own to a squint. You recognized that name from what your girlfriend had told you about a few of her colleagues. Namely, Dr. Langdon, with whom she’d been working very closely.
You didn’t recognize his face but with the way he seemingly commanded the room you could tell who he was. He helped Callie and the other paramedic, Danni, move you from the gurney to a bed, making you bite back a groan of pain as more blood seeped through the tattered remains of your shirt.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, I’m Dr. King-“ The woman entering your little cubicle stopped dead in her tracks when she saw you. You probably looked a mess, with what you were sure was blood spattered on your face and your hair stuck to your sweat-soaked skin, not to mention the sheer amount of blood just all over everything.
“Y/N?” She spoke softly in horrified shock. You managed a small grin as Dr. Langdon got to work removing the rest of your shirt, removing every obstacle between him and your wound. He spared a glance towards Dr. King but never actually stopped for a second. “Hey, Mel.”
Her eyes were wide, glued to the amount of blood still coming from your shoulder that Langdon now gripped, prepared to move you to see the full extent but waiting for Mel.
He glanced at you before looking back at Mel. “Dr. King? Is there a problem here?”
You gave her a small nod of encouragement; you trusted her to heal you so long as she was okay with it. She twiddled with her pen against her clipboard as she searched for a proper response.
“Dr. King?”
It’s like she was shocked back to the present, she ran to your injured side and began doing a check of everything as she began to ramble. “Do you have any dizziness or nausea? A headache?” She braced your upper body as the two of them raised your injured shoulder. You hissed in pain, gritting your teeth.
“Through and through,” Langdon stated, grabbing some gauze to put in each side of the wound before wrapping it up.
You took in a deep breath, trying to remember the questions Mel had asked you. “No dizziness, but yes nausea and double yes, headache,” you groaned.
Mel walked around to your other side as Langdon began to cover up the bullet holes. She brushed some of the sweaty hair off your forehead and you closed your eyes, leaning into her touch.
“Are you on any medications that we should be aware of? Have any allergies?” Langdon asked, glancing at you before doing a double-take at Mel’s fingers in your hair.
Before you could even get a chance to answer, she was answering for you. “No allergies, but they’re on escitalopram.”
Langdon raised an eyebrow at where your fingers now clutched tightly onto the hem of Mel’s scrubs. “And, you would know that how?”
Mel looked sort of affronted at him as if he should’ve known already despite having never met before. “They’re my partner. I would hope that I know their medical history.”
Langdon let out a small laugh, finishing up the wrapping. “Well, in that case, you can help fill out all their paperwork. I’ll let the OR know we’re ready when they are.” He turned to you just before he left the room, “Nice to finally meet you, Y/N.”
She pulled up the small stool on wheels next to your bedside and took up residence as she filled out your paperwork. Only leaving your side once to get you some pain medication. She kept you entertained while also making sure you stayed awake until they put you under for your surgery.
You tried to explain to her what happened, through your hazy memory and brain currently turned to mush. It wasn’t your first concussion and certainly wouldn’t be your last with your line of work which made Mel all the more nervous.
When the OR was finally ready for you, Mel made sure to be the one to bring up upstairs. She hesitated at the end of your bed before she had to leave, visibly anxious. “Come here.” She smiled softly, holding out your good hand for her to hold. “I’m gonna be okay, I promise. I’ll be in recovery waiting for you before you know it.” She smiled slightly, knowing you were in the best possible hands. “I love you, Mel, this isn’t going to keep me away from you.”
She ducked her head, a small blush coating her cheeks. She squeezed your hand, a small smile gracing her lips. “I love you too. I’ll be here when you wake up.”
You grinned, as much as you still could to recite something the two of you had originally bonded over when you first started dating. “Always?”
“Always,” She laughed, sounding like pure heaven.
**********
“How long 'til I can go back to work, Doc?” You had woken up from surgery a little over an hour ago. Mel had been able to get the rest of her shift off to stay with you until you could go home the next day.
Mel frowned at you slightly, “At least a month or two, and possibly a little bit of physical therapy depending on if any tendons were torn. But I want you to get as much rest as possible. You don’t always have to rush back to work. You’re allowed to rest.”
You sighed softly, this was a conversation the two of you had had a few times before. Maybe now that something serious happened, you would be more open to slowing down. If not for you then for her.
"I was.. I was really worried about you." She kept her gaze on the ground as she let out a large breath that, by the sound of it, she'd been holding in for quite some time.
You reached out your hand, knowing that while she did enjoy your touch, she typically preferred it to be on her terms. She softly grabbed your hand, pulling herself closer to you as she gripped it harder.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. And, I would’ve been more careful had we known the kid had a gun.” There was a lump in your throat as you swallowed, suddenly being the one to avoid eye contact.
“But you didn’t know, and there was no way to know.” She absently drew different shapes on the back of your hand as she cradled it in her lap. “But, it’s okay because I’m a doctor, and that’s what I’m here for. You can be my patient.” She smiled at you, in that cute way she does that reminds you of pure sunshine.
You squeezed her hand, your head lolling to the side as some of the residual drowsiness snuck up on you.
“I love you,” and a kiss on your forehead was the last thing you remembered before you were totally asleep. Comforted in the knowledge that your girlfriend would still be there when you woke up, and every second afterward.

Mel can't remember the last time she held a guy's hand, not like this. She had a sort of boyfriend in college, but it had been a silly passing thing that she barely even paid attention to (as bad of a person as that might make her sound).
She dated a paramedic too, almost a year and a half ago— it was brief and not serious at all. Mel thinks she might have held the man's hand once or twice, but it had been something so unconsequential that she isn't even sure, can't remember the specifics. She knows it never felt like this.
Holding Langdon's hand is a cosmic event, it's all the stars and the planets aligning at the same time. Or at least that's how it feels, standing on that rooftop and looking over the city bathed in the first morning light.
It's been a rough couple of months for Frank, she knows, and this shift... it had been hell. So Mel didn't think twice when she followed him out here right before the shift switch. She didn't even hesitate when she reached out— even though usually she doesn't like the casual, intimate touches like this one with anyone else except maybe for Becca.
It's a comfort for her as much as it is for him. It's a silent but steady reassurance. 'I'm here, I'm not going anywhere.'
'It will be okay.'

Okay so I noticed something on my latest The Pitt rewatch that could be nothing but was interesting enough to me to talk about it anyway
Look at this gif.
Tumblr media
Notice anything about Mel and Langdon's proximity to Robby?
Tumblr media
The cut definitely has something to do with it, but notice that specifically Mel and Langdon are fighting to be closest to Robby.
Look what Taylor Dearden said about John Wells's direction for Mel in episode one on Pop Culture Unplugged.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe Patrick Ball got the same direction. Maybe Langdon and Mel are both so desperate to be noticed by Robby that they're physically fighting each other to be the one who gets to tail him closest.
Also, notice Mel's facial expression in the second shot where she's behind Langdon vs. her face when she's rearing up to go in the first shot. This is the same scene, just different angles (again, continuity has something to do with this) but Mel is grinning as she's jumping in to follow him, and then she's stoic, almost annoyed, as she accepts that Langdon is the one who's going to be in front.
Both of them want to be close to him. Both of them are seeking his approval. Mel only shifts to seeking Langdon's approval after she realizes he's a more realistic source of it than Robby.
Look at them, two praise-seeking kids desperate for their boss' attention <3

I know I’ve been on the Jack Abbot/Samira Mohan train and have been posting about them a lot but I just want to take a minute to say how much I love every single one of the characters in this show (sorry, this is a long one).
Not one of them is portrayed as simple. They’re all so complex and have their own sets of challenges and obstacles they need to overcome.
Robby - I mean, the poor man lost his mentor, has ptsd from covid and is responsible for all the residents in the ER. On top of that he could’ve save his step son’s girlfriend and he feels like a failure. But even when he’s traumatized, even when he feels like the world is crashing in on him, he is still a phenomenal doctor and he is still somehow able to be a great mentor to his students. He also has such a complex relationship with religion. And on top of all of this he is carrying the trauma that comes with working in an ER and losing patients.
Abbot - War Veteran, dealing with losing a fellow veteran at the beginning of the show, like Robby the ER and the horrible things they see are taking a toll on him, is a workaholic (he literally listens to a police scanner on his days off) because he doesn’t like being at home. He is also an amputee but he doesn’t let that slow him down for one second. He is still an incredibly badass doctor and he rocks that shit. He is apparently a widower (just found that out) and he’s dealing with that while being an incredible doctor. In addition to that he’s actually a pretty good teacher from what I’ve seen and he’s very attuned to the people around him, he is able to recognize that Robby is losing it and helps him. He also reads medical journals which I love.
Langdon - He is an incredible doctor, there’s no doubt about it. He seems to really love his kids and his wife. He clearly loves the people he works with (Dana and Robby are like family to him). He is great with Mel, having faith in her and believing in her while also making sure she takes a minute when she needs it. But he’s also a drug addict. He dig himself into a hole and put himself in a bad situation that he’s not able to realize he’s in yet. He stole patient medication, he lied, he lashed out at Robby when Robby tried to help him because he’s terrified of what might happen to his career and he’s unable to see that he IS a drug addict.
Dana - She’s a mother to everyone around her, she’s on top of her shit, she is an incredible nurse, she’s always taking care of everyone but herself. Even when she gets assaulted she pushes through and works. But we also get to see the fatigue she feels at being the one to take care of everyone else and of being a nurse. We see how done she is with being scared/hurt. She loves everyone around her but she’s also realizing that this is maybe not a situation she wants to be in anymore and we see her struggle with that.
Mel - She is so incredibly sweet. She feels things on such a deep level, as Langdon says she is a sensitive person, but it’s a strength. She knows her stuff and is an incredible doctor. She makes an effort to get to know her colleagues, she cares about them. She knows how to deal with people’s specific needs, she’s very detail oriented, and she clearly loves her job. She also loves her sister, there is no doubt about it. She wants to take care of her but we also see in the last episode what a toll that takes on her. She had a shift from hell and she’s still responsible for another person and even though she loves Becca so much she is also exhausted. This shows why she was so understanding towards the daughter who was her mother’s caregiver. Yes, she’s a little socially awkward but she’s so likeable and she puts in the effort. Despite the fact that she’s so good with her patients, she doesn’t make time to take care of herself.
Mohan - Literally the best with patients and she’s so incredibly empathetic. She can definitely be slow because she’s scared of making a mistake but when she has someone hyping her up the confidence oozes out of her and she’s a straight up badass. Outwardly she’s so nice and seems like such a social person but she spends so much time at work that she literally says she doesn’t date, have friends, or go out to socialize after work. She doesn’t even realize it’s a problem until McKay points it out. It looks like she’s branching out a bit at the end of the season though.
McKay - She is super nice, a great teacher, and she seems to knock all her procedures out of the park. She seems to have everything together professionally speaking. But she also has an ankle monitor, her ex’s girlfriend has a restraining order against her, she was a drug addict who lost custody of her son. But she’s also super positive and inspiring. She clawed her way back to being someone her son can rely on and the love she has for him is unmatched. Now she’s doing everything she can to win custody back. Btw she’s doing this on top of saving a bunch of people’s lives.
Santos - One of the most nuanced characters for sure. She can absolutely be mean and insubordinate. She has absolutely been overconfident and made mistakes. She definitely has a lot to learn. But she’s also a badass and she’s actually good at her job for the most part. She actually cares very much about people and does want to help them. She has gone through awful trauma in her past between what happened to her when she was younger and her friend committing suicide. She recognizes Langdon’s behaviour because she saw it in her friend and I honestly think a part of her reporting him is not just because she has to or it’s safer for the patients but also because she WANTS for Langdon to get help. She doesn’t want to see him end up like her friend. She’s also attracting lesbians left and right which is iconic of her. AND she takes Whittaker in
Collins - She is such a sweet soul. She cares so much for her patients. She still takes care of them even though she’s going through something extremely painful. She had a miscarriage when she’s been wanting a baby and she strapped herself up and continued working. She thought she could handle it and when she realized she couldn’t she did the right thing for herself and she tapped out. She’s also incredibly supportive of Robby considering everything that’s happened between them and she tries to make sure he’s ok, even when she’s not.
Whittaker - He’s a farm boy and the first one in his family to go to college. Sure, he had A LOT to learn but he gives everything he’s tasked with 110%. He cares so much about his patients and doing a good job. Losing that first patient was super hard on him and created a drive in him to not let something like that happen to him even though it wasn’t his fault. He really rose to the occasion of the MCI and he even helped Robby and got him back to work. His farm boy skills come in handy when catching rats and he also uses his childhood/theology major to say a prayer to Robby to comfort him further. He is homeless (formerly) and he never complained once, he was just happy to be there. He started the day with the least resilience and ended up as one of the doctors with the most by the end of the day.
Javadi - She’s so much younger than anyone else there but she doesn’t let that stop her. Yes, she passed out after seeing the de-gloving injury but she got her shit together and was actually a very good doctor. She was stressed all day because her mom, who puts a lot of pressure on her, works in the hospital. She caught the spider bite when her mom didn’t because she didn’t make assumptions. She came up with creative solutions when lacking equipment during the MCI and she showed everyone what she can bring to the team, especially her mom who had no idea how to do what she did. And yeah, she’s a lot less battle tested than most of the other doctors but she stepped up and did what had to be done. She didn’t let one incident at the beginning of her shift define her.
Ellis - I don’t know as much about her as I’d like to yet but she seems great. She gave Santos the space to try things but she was also hard on her when she needed to be. She’s exactly the kind of teacher Santos needs.
Shen - Again, I don’t know as much about Shen as I’d like to but despite his chill demeanour and obsessive coffee drinking, he seems like a really good doctor.
Garcia - Definitely a badass, a little stand-offish at times but she was also good with teaching Santos (who she definitely has a crush on). She didn’t let the scalpel in her foot compromise the patient. She stayed cool and calm and she did what needed to be done.
Walsh - She is definitely good at her job. She seems to disagree with Abbot a lot which I think probably stems from her liking to adhere to the rules when she can. She doesn’t seem to like anything that’s too risky. At the same time though, she ends up letting Samira and Abbot and Robby and Abbot attempt their risky procedures. In the end what she cares about most is the patient surviving. But she’ll always get some jabs in at Abbot if she can.
Perlah and Princess - They’re horrible gossips but when shit hits the fan, you can count on them to handle it. When it’s time to work they’re complete badasses.
Kiara - She is incredible. She is there when everyone needs her and she’s always so kind and understanding. She gets what has to happen done, even if it’s hard.
Mateo - He’s a super positive person, he’s great with Victoria, he doesn’t make her feel stupid when she asks him out. He is clearly great with kids and has a great relationship with McKay. On top of that he seems like an incredible nurse who knows his stuff and he’s completely on top of it.
Donnie - Like Mateo, he’s a super positive person. He’s not afraid to give advice, especially to the med students. He tells Samira that her finally feeling the shift they just had is not big deal and that it’s normal. He’s also great at his job and gets shit done.
Jesse - I wish we got more of him but from everything have seen he’s an amazing nurse and he kicks ass.
Nurse Kim - She was always so nice and was more than happy to teach Whittaker how to do a good dressing. She seems like a great teacher
Lupe - Like Kiara she does the hard but necessary things. She was right beside her dealing with those families who were waiting on news after the MCI. She is also incredibly caring, tracking down not only the sister of one of the victims but also the daughter of Mel’s patient.
Gloria - She’s an administrator and she does have finances to consider. This definitely causes her to butt heads with Robby and she definitely doesn’t see the bigger picture sometimes. But at the end of the day she does care about the patients. She trusts Robby and gives him what he needs during the MCI and even though she does care a lot about protocol, liability, and optics, at the end of the day I really do believe she wants people’s lives to be saved.
I’m sure I’m forgetting people but all these characters are so unbelievably incredible and complex and I just wanted to give them the shout out they deserve!
