hating Romeo and Juliet is fine if you had a shitty English teacher and didn't care about school at the time or whatever but if it's been many years since then... I'm giving you permission to let go of that opinion. the problem in Romeo and Juliet isn't the young love story, it's the stupid family rivalry that gets both heirs killed. that's what it's about. it's about closed mindedness and pettiness leading to tragic consequences. these adults hated each other so much, were so determined to hate each other, that they let their children die over it. the love story is romantic and dramatic, but hating the play because 'some dumb teens die bc they think they're in love' isn't it. they are in love. teens can be in love and it can feel like the most important thing in the world. and they shouldn't have to die bc of their families' bullshit.

the biggest misconception i see when begging the question of reconnection is the idea that that's the hardest part, when for many who are seeking true reconnection, it's a matter of talking to your family. if you're disconnected from a culture your family participates in, then it shouldn't be difficult for you to know what community you need to connect with. call people. go there. be with them. reconnect. rekindle. stop asking how, and ask why you haven't yet, because you know that's the real reason. finding the path to reconnection isn't the hard part, it's actively making the choice to walk that road. it's hard, it's narrow, it's rocky and full of potholes, but you walk it because it's important to you. the red road is always waiting for you, but it can't force your steps.

We just finished The Body.

And I know Hush gets a lot of attention and talk about how good it is, but. The Body is better. It's rough and hard and real and just. Maybe the best episode of Buffy.

a lot of media assumes robots would be immortal but i think its a lot more interesting to explore robots dealing with their parts wearing down and battery life shortening and all the horrible little failings that come with being a complicated machine. sure they can replace parts but you'd assume you cant completely ship of theseus them, or it'd have pretty big rammifications on their sense of identity. idk. give me robots with distinct, unique signs of aging. as a treat.
