#i just came across a ππ· girls tiktok where shes asking abt the meaning of a word#and most of the comment section is ppl being very confused w some boomers and older genx-ers being like ππ kids these days.. not knowing#something so BASIC!#the word is the name of dried pork belly/sides apparently but its only used in south west ππ·#now this is making me feel so incredibly amused and vindicated bc ive been seeing a rising nr of 'linguists' claiming ππ· and π·πΈ are two#completely different languages and that there is no such thing as 'ser/bo-cro/atian'#and they always use the dialects spoken in SW ππ· and SE π·πΈ as examples of why π·πΈππ·-ian cannot be the same language#i guarantee you that if you chose 10 random ppl from SW ππ·; from zagr/eb; from belg/rade and SE π·πΈ each#the people who would understand each other best would be ppl from ZG and BG#also if you took dialects of two specific regions (especially influenced by another two languages each) you could go claiming eng is not eng#in say new/ orleans & engl/and near scotl/and & a small town in south af/rica#ge/rman isnt the same in north ger/many aus/tria and switz/erland and yet its still called german#same goes for fre/nch & any other language that spans a lot of territory and population#π·πΈππ·ian (or ππ·π·πΈian) absolutely 1000% is a same language just with a lot of dialects#(purely linguistically speaking not culturally/historically)#probably could word all this better but im tired and sleepy so it is what it is
