#and thus any “curing the pit rage” plot would probably involve helping him better process his response to that ecto stuff

yeah that ectoplasmic residue thing was my original idea! The shadows in the corners of his visions would be brief glimpses of the weak ghosts/shades of Gotham, and the corpse-y stuff would be caused by his mind’s interpretation of the ectoplasmic stains left by deaths.
Though guilt and other nonmagical mental health issues can absolutely factor into it too ofc!! His issues can be multifaceted!
Also you get it!! No need for a special “bursts of pit rage” phenomenon to make him angrier and more violent when he’s constantly getting painfully reminded of all the deaths in his city anyway ;)
Jason thinks he might have gone insane.
The Lazarus Pit may have healed his amnesia, but ever since then he’s been seeing… things.
Shadowy figures flickering in the corners of his eyes. Sometimes when he looks in the mirror, for just a moment he can see his corpse staring back at him, wounds from the Joker’s crowbar still fresh. Then it’s back to normal.
Other times they’re more… persistent. Illusory corpses rest in places they have long been removed from. Or sometimes just pieces of them, often random splatters of blood. The blades he fight with become soaked in it, forever tainted red with the blood spilled on them. He takes to cleaning them relentlessly, never able to tell if there’s actually any grime left under all the red.
Perhaps part of it is just his guilty conscious. If it is, it’s not working; the sights only make him more angry, more likely to lash out at the criminals they remind him of.

Oof, just imagining Jason meeting Danny accidental or not.
He could be seeing Danny's lichtenberg scars covered body that actively glowing covered in ectoplasm, his ghostly eldritch ghost king form or both all together.
That would be the bricking point for Jason's consciousness right there and than as he passes out.
Meanwhile, Danny was looking for a baby ghostling named Jason Peter Todd or Robin, who got misplaced in the infinite realms due to flying off an escape attempted after one of the ghosts tries to led him to get check out only to get sucked into a nasty taint ectoplasm that should've been closed off for the blob ghosts to filtered out.
Now Danny following the ghostly trail leading to another case of an escaped artist known the revenant Ra Al Gual, who couldn't maintain his own ectoplasm pools and is ruining them by dumping dead bodies into them.
After beating said Ra Al Gual and leading walker take him to prison along with forced self-healing, ignoring the panic assassins who believed Ra Al Gual died, Danny continued to follow the ghostly core trail into the cursed self cannibalistic Spirit domain Gotham city which was another cans of worms he didn't want to get into.
Thankfully, he has his emergency dozen potent ectoplasm snacks in his chest, considering he didn't want to be on Gotham City's next all you can eat buffet.
If the rumors of Gotham eating off her own people's spirits due to a curse is true.
