So...healer!reader pt 5, shes already healed the guys individually, where will they go from here?🤭
It becomes a bit of a routine. The guys try not to ask for ur healing too often, they value u as a genuine member of the team and would hate for u to think ur just here for that. But, you do notice they all perform much better after you heal them. Plus, it kind of gets on ur nerves when they try to 'tough out' some of the minor pain, bc u can feel it radiating from them and now that you have healed them before there's really no reason for u to be shy about it again.
So, you make sure to heal them all at least once a week, sometimes more if they actually are hurt. Ghost goes all soft and pliant, simply enjoying the fact his chronic pain is gone for a bit. Price tends to take the time to smoke, hes learned that ur healing with smoke in his lungs feels devine. Soap doesnt have much constant pain besides mild tinnitus, so he and gaz tend to work out like hell beforehand bc it feels alot better when the magic has something to focus on.
But you never seem to ask anything in return. Its frustrating. Especially considering soap has explicitly offered you to bed and all you've done is turn him down with a small smile. Needless to say, the guys are concerned. Gaz calls a team meeting between the four of them, a furrow in his brow.
"Do you think we're taking advantage?"
Its a long and serious discussion. Price thinks they are, they all have some sort of power dynamic over you (some more than others). Ghost doesnt think so, hes seen you punch a guy's lights out for looking at you the wrong way, if you didnt want to do something then you wouldnt. Soap seems mixed, he trusts your decisions, but he doesnt want to have accidentally coerced you into anything. The discussion gets them nowhere, so finally gaz calls you in.
U give them a confused look, but seem overall relaxed. "Uh- everything okay?"
Price doesnt mince words, "if you dont want to heal us. You dont have to. If you dont feel comfortable working in this team, give me the paperwork and ill approve it, no questions asked."
"What?" Youre honestly baffled, looking between them like they're crazy. "What on earth makes you think i dont want to heal you?? If I didnt then I wouldnt??"
So they explain they're reasoning, finally leading to the last point of u never seeking out ur own satisfaction. They don't want to make u heal them if u dont get some sort of satisfaction in return, it feels predatory or whatever.
You cant help it, you laugh. A bit from nerves but also from relief bc you thought you were being kicked out. "Oh my god- thats it?" You try to cover ur grin with a hand.
"the hell do you mean thats it?!" Soap retorts, a bit put off by ur sudden mirth "this is serious!"
"God! No- its- you dont understand-" you take a few deep breaths before calming down. Looking them in the eyes you shrug "im asexual. I uh- dont feel sexual desire. Like. At all."
Before they can freak out, you strike down whatever fears u know they're thinking "whatever sexual moments did occur were totally my choice. I may not get satisfaction like you guys do, but I like to see you guys happy, I like to help. Besides, all this healing has given me alot of practice with my magic, I really dont want to stop."
You and them have another, quite long discussion, and decide to keep up the arrangement. You get to practice magic, and they get to have the best damn orgasms of their lives. In fact, this probably means you can heal them more often now that you have permission to really experiment with ur methods.
(HA YALL THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A FIVESOME HUH??? WRONG!! anyways happy pride to all my fellow asexuals!! Also dw guys this is NOT the end of the series lol)

“Don’t open your eyes yet!”
“I’m gonna trip over something and fall on my ass. Or run into something. This is The Cut, who knows what junk is just lying around. I’m gonna get tetris or some shit.”
You laughed out loud. Rafe nearly opened his eyes to figure out why.
“See, now you’re laughing at me, you better not be doing some dumb shit to me for a Tiktok,” he warned.
“Oh my god, you’re such a baby, calm down,” you chuckled. “I’m laughing because you’re cute. It’s tetanus, not tetris.”
He should feel embarrassed, but the sound of your laugh and of you calling him cute calmed every muscle in his body. You were a balm that went straight to his agitated heart.
You were the only one who could disarm him when he got irritated like this. You told him once that you don’t take his bad moods personally because you can see them for what they are - he’s not angry, he’s anxious. He realized then that you’re the only person who’d ever really understood him, that you might understand him better than he understands himself.
It’s why his shoulders relax now, it’s why he can take a deep breath. There was no one else in the world who could convince him to let them drive his boat while he’s blindfolded or walk through the tall, marshy grass without knowing where he was going. Only you.
“Can I open my eyes now?” He asked.
“We’re not there yet,” you shook your head, hand still on his arm to lead him closer to your surprise. “You can go one more minute without seeing where you’re going.”
“Maybe, but I don’t know if I can go another minute without seeing you,” he flirted.
You smiled, tempted to rip the blindfold off him and forget all about the surprise. Too bad for him you already knew all his tricks.
“Nice try, Cameron.”
As you got closer, your stomach twisted. Maybe this was stupid. After all, wouldn’t it be underwhelming to Rafe after all he’s seen? This place meant so much to you, you didn’t know if you could handle any criticism from him. You considered turning around, but you’d already made such a big deal out of this, how would you explain it to him?
“Okay, this is a good spot, I guess,” you said, your voice shaking with trepidation.
“You good?” Rafe asked. Of course he could tell your mood shifted without even looking at you.
“Yeah, I think, just open your eyes.” At this point you just wanted to get his inevitable disappointment over with.
Slowly, Rafe opened his eyes. He blinked a few times to adjust to the blinding Carolina sunlight before finally sizing up your big reveal.
It was your house, the one he’d been to a hundred times before - sneaking into your window so your brother wouldn’t hear, showing up in the night to investigate when you “heard a noise,” defending you from Luke when he got violent. Except, this wasn’t the same house. It was bigger, for one. And slightly bigger, with new walls, new roof, and a big, hand painted flag in your brother’s handwriting: “Poguelandia.”
It wasn’t much, but it was your dream come true. In your eyes, you may as well have been standing in front of a magic castle. As you watched Rafe’s expression stay completely unchanged you realized that to him, it probably still looked like some shitty shack on The Cut. You wished you never brought him here.
“This is what you guys have been working on this whole time?” He asked, still looking at the house and not at you.
“Yeah, I mean, and the store,” you gestured to the dock behind you where you and your friends had built yourselves a small business. Another thing that would surely seem pathetic compared to what Rafe was used to.
“It’s nice, I like it,” Rafe said.
“No it’s okay, you don’t have to lie,” you said, voice small. You started to turn to leave. “I shouldn’t have made such a big deal out of it, let’s just go-”
“Hey, woah, woah,” Rafe interrupted you gently.
He approached you from behind, arms twisting around your waist, forcing you to turn back and look at your home. He had to duck down to slot his chin into your shoulder, swaying you both gently.
“If I had to come all this way, I think I at least deserve the grand tour, don’t I?” he mumbled into your ear.
Your smile returned, you nuzzled your cheek into his, heart swelling.
“I guess, if you insist,” you said with a cheeky grin.
“I do,” he nodded, tickling your neck with his buzzed hair. He tilted his head down to place a sloppy kiss into the crook of your shoulder. “I’m especially looking forward to seeing your bedroom.”
“You mean the one I share with your sister?”
He groaned, “why do you torture me like this?”
“Because it’s fun.” You twisted away from his hold and slid your hand down his arm to interlock your fingers with his.
Rafe followed you onto the porch. You paused at the front door for dramatic effect.
“Hello MTV, welcome to my crib!”
Rafe smiled as you cracked up at your own joke, but his momentary joy turned sour when you opened the door and revealed an unwelcome sight on the other side; the Pogues.
The lively discussion that had been filling your shared living room stopped dead in its tracks. The room turned cold. Six icy stares were aimed in your boyfriend’s direction.
You understood why they disliked him so much. He didn’t put much effort into changing their minds. But he’d changed yours. And though you’d tried for years not to, you loved him. Neither of you had said it yet, but you knew it was true, at least for you.
There had been countless arguments between you and your brother and the shared friends that were basically family about Rafe. Countless fights you’d stopped between JJ and Rafe, countless nights begging Rafe just to try a little harder, begging JJ just to give him a chance. They both cared for you enough not to kill each other, but it was a reluctant ceasefire. A fragile peace you were always vigilant to protect. A truce that could be broken at any moment. You prayed this wasn’t that moment.
“Sorry, I didn’t think you guys were home,” you explained. The six pogues shared concerned glances with each other, something unsaid that you felt had nothing to do with you walking in with their least favorite person. “What’s going on?”
Kie stood, shot a brief but blazing glare towards Rafe, and handed you a piece of paper. You read it carefully, your eyebrows creased in confusion that was slowly morphing into great concern. Rafe read over your shoulder.
It was an official warning from the Kildare City Council. The land you were standing on and the home you’d built would be rezoned. They were taking Poguelandia.
“What the hell?” You shouted. “Can they actually do this?”
“Looks like they already are,” John B confirmed.
“No, no. There has to be something we can -”
“There’s not!” JJ stood from his seat at the far end of the room.
You could see it all over his face, the anger that was always lying just beneath the surface starting to make its way to the top. Everyone thought of JJ as a happy-go-lucky, silly, mischievous kid. And he was all those things, but he was something else, something only you really saw; a hurt kid who never healed.
“There’s never something we can do,” JJ continued, stalking slowly toward you, but keeping his eyes locked on Rafe the whole time. “Not when Kooks are involved. They always win.”
“Back up, Maybank,” Rafe snarled, looking down at JJ, who’d gotten close enough to break the barrier of Rafe’s personal space.
You stepped between them instinctually, a move you’d made a hundred times before.
“Stop.” You put a gentle hand on JJ’s chest to back him up, but he didn’t budge. “This isn’t his fault, J.”
“How do we know that, huh?” JJ finally tore his eyes off Rafe to look at you. “How do we know he’s not behind it somehow? Trying to steal our land for another bougie ass development project. You can’t trust these people, sis. How many times do we have to get screwed by them before you realize it?”
You and your brother looked at each other for a long time. The rest of the room watched as the two of you seemed to have a conversation none of them could hear; the unspoken language of siblings who’d been to hell and back together.
After a long moment, you turned your gaze toward Rafe.
“Do- do you know anything about this?” You asked him hesitantly.
His face fell. A series of emotions flashed across his features so quickly, you were sure you were the only one in the room who caught them all; surprise, betrayal, hurt, anger, and finally, back to his go-to: detached stoicism.
“That’s really what you think of me? That I’d do something like this?” His tone was even, his voice far away even though you were inches apart.
You knew you’d hurt him by even entertaining the idea that he’d betray you like this. But this ground was shaky, and you had been screwed over by Kooks your entire life. The trust you put in him did not come easy, and sometimes it wavered, even though he’d never given it any reason to.
Rafe’s jaw clenched when you didn’t answer. He nodded once, his lips twisting into the kind of smile that had absolutely no joy behind it.
“Unbelievable.” He muttered.
He took one last searing look around the room, twelve hateful eyes met him, and he didn’t look at your watery ones before turning and storming out of the house, the newly installed screen door banging shut behind him.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂
Your knees were tucked all the way to your chest, your chin resting on them as you wrapped your arms around yourself, trying to manufacture any sort of comfort. It wasn’t working.
The zone change notice sat on the bed in front of you. You read it over and over, as though if you just wanted it badly enough, the words would change into something less devastating.
You were going to lose your home. You’d probably lost the love of your life, before you could even tell him he was the love of your life. Your brother was one step from completely falling over the edge, the rocky path toward destruction that you’d pulled him back from your whole lives getting steeper by the minute. A few hours ago you were excitedly cleaning this room so you could show Rafe. How could so much change in so little time?
A knock at the door pulled you from your spiraling thoughts.
“Come in,” you said quietly.
The door creaked slightly despite it being brand new. Sarah tiptoed into the room gently, searching you for any signs of distress.
“Sar, you don’t have to knock to come into your own room,” you told her.
“I know, I just thought maybe you needed some space.”
You shook your head and scooted over on the bed to make space for her. She took your invitation with a smile and settled in next to you.
“So…how’s your day going?” She asked in a singy-songy voice.
You both erupted in bittersweet laughter.
“Oh y’know, I’ve had better.”
She nudged your arm with her elbow.
“Everything’s gonna be okay, you know.” She assured you.
“Is it though? I mean really, Sar, is it?” No laughter hung in the air now. “I mean, what if I just lost my home and my boyfriend? Or worse, what if I just lost my home to my boyfriend.”
“You really think Rafe would’ve done something like this?” She asked.
“I don’t know. I mean, I don’t want to. You heard him though, when I asked him about it, he didn’t deny it.”
Sarah sighed, a deep exhale that usually signaled she was about to say something she didn’t want to.
“What?” You prodded.
“Look, I’m not my brother’s biggest fan, you know that,” she began.
“Um yes, you’ve made that very clear,” you chuckled, thinking of all the times Sarah had warned you not to get involved with Rafe.
“But, just this one time, I’m going to…” She paused dramatically, her eyes screwed shut with reluctance. “...defend him.”
Your eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“Be honest, how hard was that for you to say?” You teased.
“I’m holding back vomit right now,” she laughed.
“Well then defend him quickly before you yack on my bed.”
“Okay, I just,” she paused to consider her words carefully. “I know you know Rafe really well. I mean you’re the only one he’s ever really let in, so you probably know him better than anyone. But I’ve known him longer than anyone. I’ve seen every version of him. I knew Rafe before he met you, and now I know him after he met you, and believe me when I tell you, those two are not the same guy. As cliche as it sounds, you changed him.”
You sat in silence, letting the words settle over you, surprised by how emotional they were making you. You willed the tears forming in your eyes not to fall.
“Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a dick,” Sarah added. You were grateful for a reason to laugh before you started crying. “But he’s not the same. There was a time where I’d say ‘absolutely, Rafe definitely did this just to screw us over,’ but not anymore. Not since he fell in love with you.”
You looked up in surprise, the tears at your lash line threatening to finally spill over.
“You think he loves me?”
“Girl, be so for real. That man has never looked at anyone the way he looks at you. Believe me, he’s yours.”
Your heart skipped, and the tears finally fell. You rose from the bed so suddenly, Sarah almost fell back onto the mattress. You didn’t know what had taken over you, just that you needed to go, now. Everything in you was being pulled toward him, like sand being dragged back out to sea by the tide. If you spent one more minute of your life without him knowing what you were so certain of now, you might not make it.
Sarah smiled at you, she read it all over your face.
“Go!” She urged.
“Love you!” You shouted over your shoulder as you raced out of your bedroom.
“Love you too, you freak,” she smiled to herself, knowing you were already long gone.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂
Where could he have gone? Your mind flipped through all the possibilities as you ran across the lawn toward the dock. JJ would probably be pissed that you took The Snapper without asking first, but didn’t even care about that right now. You just needed to find Rafe.
You didn’t have to search for long.
As soon as your feet hit the wooden dock, they stopped in their tracks.
At the end of the pier sat Rafe’s boat bobbing in the water. The long figure of your boyfriend leaned over the bow. You watched with a big, bright smile as he untied the line, then retied it, then untied it, and retied it once more. He was clearly having a silent disagreement with himself. All that mattered to you was that he hadn’t left.
You approached slowly, avoiding the planks in the dock you knew would creak and give away your presence. The closer you got to him, the faster your heart beat. The words you were dying to say sat perched at the end of your tongue, you knew they wouldn’t be able to hang on much longer.
Half way through untying the boat again, Rafe stopped and sighed.
“Need a push?” You said.
His eyes shot up to yours, startled. Tension filled his shoulders as he took you in, his shock quickly fading to something softer, yet still unsure.
“That depends,” he squinted in the sun to see you better.
God, he was gorgeous. You could not let him get away.
“Depends on what?” You played along.
“If my girlfriend will forgive me for being a dismissive prick,” he said.
You forced your lips not to twist into a smile, pretending to consider his words.
“I think she might. If you forgive her first,” you said.
His eyes softened, lips twitching. You were both failing not to smile at each other now.
Rafe finally tied up the boat for good, hopping up onto the dock. You admired every movement of his body as it drew closer to yours. When he reached you, he placed his hands on your waist, your arms drawing up to wrap around his neck, stretching up on your tiptoes to get as close to him as possible.
“She has nothing to apologize for. The only home she’s ever known is being threatened. She’s just scared. I get that.”
Every word fanned over you like a soft summer breeze. Your heart warmed, impossibly full despite all the anxieties today had brought. He just got you, he understood without you having to say it. This must be the closest two people can get to making magic, you thought.
“Thank you,” you let your head fall forward to rest on his chest. He kissed the top of your head.
“Everything’s gonna be okay,” he whispered into your hair.
You looked back up at him, shaking your head.
“How is everything gonna be okay, Rafe? What if there really is nothing we can do? I mean, who’s even behind this?”
Rafe didn’t answer, but one name popped into his mind. Even with his suspicions, he didn’t know if he could help you. Helplessness was the feeling he despised more than any other, especially when it came to you.
“I don’t know,” he said, his heart breaking at the despairing look on your face. “But you’ve still got me. You could always move into the condo with me, like I’ve been begging you for months.”
“Can I bring my friends with me?” You scrunched up your nose, hoping he’d find you cute enough to say yes.
“I love you, but there’s no way in hell…”
A bolt of lightning shot through you, goosebumps erupting over your entire body. Did he really just say…?
He instantly read the shock on your face, but there was no look of regret on his.
“What? Haven’t I said I love you before?”
“Umm, no, I think I would’ve remembered that!” You couldn’t help the big, goofy grin taking over your whole face.
“Oh, well that’s weird,” he shrugged, his hands sliding from your waist to your lower back, wrapping his strong arms around you and lifting you off your feet. “Because I do love you, so fucking much.”
You yelped as he lifted you into the air, head falling back in laughter as he almost tumbled you both off the dock in his effort to sweep you off your feet.
You looked down at him and he lowered you slowly, tucking his head into the crook of your neck, arms still wrapped around each other like you’d never let go. You stood there embracing for a long time, so long that the sun was starting to set, casting a golden shimmer across the water.
Finally you said, “I never gave you the grand tour.”
“And I was really looking forward to seeing your crib,” he teased, his lips brushing against the skin of your neck when he talked.
“Well, c’mon then.” You grabbed his hand, leading him back toward the house, both of you buzzing with the excitement that there was something much better than a tour waiting for you inside.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂
“...And this is John B and JJ’s room,” you opened the door only a crack, afraid to unleash the stench that permanently filled the space. “They insisted on getting bunk beds even though they’re, like, forty. And Pope insisted on having his own room because, as he said, ‘JJ is a walking biohazard.’ Which is…fair.”
Rafe was just watching you with adoration as you showed him around the house. He was barely looking at the rooms you were showing him because he was so focused on the way you glowed with joy. It was true that he wanted you to move to Bayline with him, it was his life’s goal to get you there, actually, but he had to admit that you seemed like you really belonged here. He’d never seen you look more at home.
“And this is our gallery wall.” You gestured to the display of framed photographs hanging in the upstairs hallway.
Rafe surveyed them dutifully with his hands tucked politely behind his back, like an old man in an art museum. Most of the photographs were of you and the pogues at various times in your life. Out fishing in the marsh, riding dirt bikes, post-surf at the beach. You admired the way Rafe was looking so intently and resisting the urge to grimace at so many photos of you with his once sworn enemies.
He explored the wall, eyes lingering on any photo of you a little longer than the rest. The hall continued to lead down toward your bedroom. At the very end, in a high corner, just above a series of photo booth pictures you’d taken with Sarah and Kie last summer, hung a delicate circular frame featuring a worn-out picture almost too small to see. Rafe leaned in for a better look.
In the photo, which was a tad faded and clearly taken several years ago, was a young guy, probably about 30, holding two young kids on his lap. The slightly bigger one, a boy, held up a trout he’d just caught, flashing a toothless grin. The little girl beamed at the man holding her.
It took Rafe a moment, but when he felt your weight shift next to him uncomfortably, he put it all together. The photo was you, JJ, and Luke. Probably the only one you had. And despite everything Luke had put you through, you’d hung it on the wall to see everyday.
Rafe turned to you, you were looking down at your feet, toes digging anxiously into the rug. His heart ached. If anyone knew what it was like to have a complicated relationship with their father, it was him. The fact that you’d still given Luke some dignity in this house he almost destroyed so many times said so much about you, and reminded him why he loved you so much.
“You wanna show me your room now?” He asked gently.
You looked up at him with glassy eyes and a small smile, “yeah.”
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂
The door clicked closed softly. Rafe took in the room, immediately identifying which bed was yours and which bed (the messy, half-made one) was his sister’s.
“Sarah doesn’t spend much time in here,” you admitted.
“No?” He asked, keeping his eyes off of you, the closed door suddenly adding a nervous energy to the room he wasn’t expecting.
“She mainly sleeps with John B.” Rafe grimaced, you hurried to reassure him. “Like, in his bed I mean, or his bunk I guess. Not, like sleep with him sleep with him, although I’m sure there’s plenty of that -”
“I’m literally begging you to stop talking,” he said, his eyes finding the ceiling, no doubt trying to erase the mental picture you just created for him.
“Sorry,” you chuckled.
Rafe wandered around the room some more, taking in all your decorations. He never understood why someone could collect so many knick-knacks that seemed to be worth nothing, but there was something endearing about it that drew him to you even more. Just another in a long line of things that would annoy him with someone else, but enchanted him with you.
As your time alone in the room dragged on, the air became tenser. You felt yourself watching him, but unable to move, back pressed up against the door, frozen in anticipation.
You and Rafe had been alone together before - and you had been together before - but something had shifted out on that dock. Something that you knew you couldn’t take back, and didn’t want to. In fact, you only wanted to solidify it more.
“Rafe,” you said softly, finally pulling his attention away from your decor.
He looked up at you expectantly, like he had been waiting for you to give him permission to. He didn’t respond, just walked slowly toward you, his eyes on yours the whole way. Your heart was beating out of your chest.
“I don’t know why I’m so nervous,” you said, trying to laugh to break the tension, though the sound came out more like a hiccup.
“Has something changed?” He wondered aloud.
“Yeah, I guess it has.” You chewed on your bottom lip. “Because today I realized two important things.”
“What two things?” He asked, surprised, and a little alarmed, by your answer.
“The first is that this is my home, and that in a way, it will always be my home. And yet at the same time, I also realized that you’re my future, and I love you.”
Rafe’s smile spread slowly, like he was taking in each word one at a time. His blue eyes sparkled - like actually sparkled - with joy. Maybe you were imagining it, but it didn’t matter, you just wanted him to keep looking at you like that.
“Oh you love me, huh?” His voice was low and dangerous, he stepped closer until he was towering over you.
“Yeah, haven’t I said that before?” You echoed his words from earlier back to him.
He just shook his head at you, tucking his tongue in the corner of his cheek to try and tame his smile. His hands found your waist like they were made to fit there. His voice carried down to your very core as he leaned in.
“You know you can’t take it back now, right?”
“Why would I take it back? I mean it, Rafe, with everything I have. I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
And he showed you. His body enveloping yours as he backed you up against the door and kissed you deeply. A whole new energy between you now, your need and your affection for each other stronger than ever.
Before you could get carried away, footsteps on the stairs reminded you of a very crucial step of bringing your boyfriend home.
“Wait, hold on.” You pulled away from Rafe and he frowned. His disappointment was so cute you were tempted to kiss the pout right off of him, but first you rummaged through a drawer in you and Sarah’s shared dresser.
“What is that?” Rafe asked when you pulled out a conch shell glued to a piece of twine.
“Just a little system Sarah and I have.” You winked at him, opening the door just a crack to hang the shell from the doorknob.
“Do I want to know?” Rafe asked.
“I don’t know, do you want to talk more about your sister’s love life, or work on ours?” You bit back your smile when he cringed at your words, suddenly realizing Sarah’s use for the shell with a shudder.
“You’re lucky I love you,” he said, before scooping you up and carrying you over his shoulder, just to drop you on the bed with a bounce.
“Yes, I am,” you smiled up at him.
And he showed you, over and over, just how lucky you were.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂
It was different this time, more passionate, more intense, more everything. And when he held you after, whispering more I love you’s into your hair, and neck, and the side of your face, you knew it must’ve felt the same for him, too.
You laid tucked into his side, his arm wrapped around your shoulders so he could intertwine his fingers with yours as you both stared up at the ceiling in pure bliss.
You sighed a happy, airy sigh and nuzzled closer to him.
“You know I just mean for now, right?” You said.
He twisted his neck at what must’ve been an uncomfortable angle to try and see your face.
“You just love me for now?” He asked, incredulous.
“No, no!” You couldn’t help but laugh. “Sorry, no, that’s not what I meant. I meant to say, this is just my home for now.”
“Oh, okay,” he rested his head back onto the pillow. “That’s better, I guess.”
You sat up, shuffling through the sheets so you could see him. You brought your legs up and sat criss cross on the bed next to him. Rafe lazily reached out a hand to tuck your hair behind your ear as he waited for the words he knew you were trying to formulate. He loved that you thought so hard before speaking, always determined to say what you mean. You loved that he waited to hear what you had to say, a patience he reserved almost exclusively for you.
“I know it must seem weird,” you began, “that I’m so attached to a place with so many bad memories. And I know you want me to live with you, and I want that too, eventually. But you have to understand, for so much of my life, it was just me and JJ. It was just us in this house. Even though a lot of it was us hiding from Luke or fending for ourselves when he didn’t come home for days at a time, there are good memories hidden in all the bad ones. Like, at the bottom of the stairs, there’s a spot where JJ and I accidentally ran our sled into the wall when we were stair-surfing. We covered it with chewed bubblegum and colored it in with marker, and Luke never noticed. Or in the kitchen, there’s tally marks under the countertop where we used to keep track of how many beers Luke had so we knew when it was time to go to John B’s for the night. And on the old dock, where our store is now, we made each other a pinky promise that someday we’d grow up and make something of ourselves and buy this house right out from under him. And we did it! And now, they’re just going to, what, take it away? Punish us for rising above the low expectations that they set for us? We were hurt here, yeah. But we also survived here. We did it together. I can’t leave that, or him, not now, not yet.”
Rafe drank in your words, and when tears came, he didn’t wipe them away or tell you to stop crying, he just let them fall. Let you feel what you needed to feel. His hand stayed firmly rested on your leg, there to hold only if you wanted it.
Through sobs you finally said, “this is our home, Rafe. We’re gonna lose our home.”
He’d heard enough. He stood from the bed quickly, pulling on his khakis and polo wordlessly.
“Where are you going?”
Rafe turned to look at you, saw the worry in your eyes and leaned over your bed so his face was level with yours. You would have been frightened by the steel in his eyes if you weren’t so excited by it.
“You asked me how it was going to be okay, right?” He said, voice low and tinged with danger.
You just nodded, unsure what to make of this sudden change in demeanor.
“It’s going to be okay because I’m going to make it okay.”
With that he stood and stalked toward the door, stopping to look at you one more time.
“Get some sleep, yeah? I’ll be back in a bit.”
You didn’t bother to ask where he was going, you knew he wasn’t going to tell you. When he had a plan like this, there was no slowing him down. Usually, his plans were self-serving. He was a strategist, like his father. Only now, it seemed, you were the beneficiary of his plot, and you weren’t sure what to expect.
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂
It sure as hell wasn’t the doorbell ringing at two in the morning.
It had started to storm and the thunder was rumbling through the house. It took a few rings before you could even hear the doorbell over the sound of the rain. Sarah lay on one side of you, Kie on the other, Cleo at the foot of the bed. They’d come to comfort you after Rafe left and you all cried yourself to sleep talking about the future of Poguelandia.
You accidentally kicked Cleo when you got up, who then kicked Sarah, who reached over and hit Kie in the arm as if it was her fault. Everyone was awake now.
“Noise. Bad. Make it stop,” Sarah grumbled into her pillow.
“Hit me again and I’ll make you stop breathing,” Kie said, her threat a little deflated considering she made it with her eyes still closed.
The doorbell rang out again, in rapid succession this time, causing everyone to groan and cover their ears.
“Who the hell rings the doorbell at 2 a.m.?” Sarah whined.
“If it’s those goddamn Jehovah’s Witnesses again, I’m gonna shove their little pamphlet down their throats,” Cleo said.
“I’ll get it,” you said through a yawn.
“Wait, you’re gonna go alone?” Kie grabbed your hand to pull you back.
“What if you get murdered?” Sarah said, sitting up and rubbing her eyes.
Kie and Sarah both climbed out of bed with you, but Cleo didn’t budge.
“If you get murdered let me know,” she said, pulling the blankets tighter around her. “I will avenge you.”
Kie rolled her eyes and pulled the blankets off Cleo, Sarah grabbed her hand to drag her from the bed.
“You’re coming with us, babe,” Sarah said over Cleo’s protests. “And bring your knife.”
⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂ ⠂⠄⠄⠂
Lightning struck somewhere across the marsh at the exact second the door flew open. You and all three girls, wrapped in your blankets and holding various kitchen utensils, screamed at the sight on the other side. A dark figure of a man stood on the front porch, too far from the light for anyone to make out his identity. Cleo stepped in front of you all with her knife wielded.
“Hey! You better show yourself or get lost,” she shouted at the figure.
As the man slowly made his way into the flickering porch light, you realized you recognized the broad curve of those shoulders, the slope of that neck.
“Rafe,” you whispered.
Just as you identified him, the porch light swept across his face, and all four of you gasped.
The same places on his face you’d laid gentle kisses just a few hours ago were now black and blue, except in the places they were bloody. And he wasn’t walking slowly toward the light, he was limping, barely able to stand. He leaned against the door frame, holding his right hand in his left, his knuckles were raw and wounded.
“Rafe!” You repeated, pushing past your friends to get to him. You tried to support his weight but you couldn’t manage it alone. Sarah came to his other side to help catch him as he stumbled forward.
Kie, however, took a defensive step backward, her arms crossed over her chest. Cleo kept her knife raised.
“Think you can put down the knife now, babe,” Sarah told her.
“You never know,” Cleo said, narrowing her eyes at Rafe.
“Cleo, look at him,” you scolded.
She gave Rafe a once over, finally determining he wasn’t a threat in this state.
“Let’s get him on the couch,” you told Sarah. “Quickly, before he falls.”
Cleo stepped away to allow you to walk Rafe further into the living room. Kie created more distance between herself and your bloodied house guest. You searched her face quickly, it was a mixture of alarm and defensiveness. You could see the decision as it was being made, you tried to stop her but you were too late.
“Kie, wait!”
But she was already running up the stairs, surely to wake the boys. There was no version of these circumstances that would be made better by your half-awake, hotheaded brother.
You and Sarah finally got Rafe on the couch. He leaned forward, grimacing in pain as he propped his head in his hands. You knelt in front of him, trying to find his eyes with yours.
“Rafe, baby, what happened? Are you okay? Please talk to me.”
You placed your hands on his legs, rubbing soothing circles, begging him to fill the silence with an explanation. You looked at Sarah with pure panic in your eyes, she looked back with concern. Whether it was for you or for her brother, you weren’t sure.
“Rafe, it’s okay, whatever it is, you can tell us,” she encouraged him.
You’d never been more thankful for your best friend. You knew how much it took for her to offer him comfort like that.
You reached up to cup Rafe’s cheek in your hand, touching gently so as to not worsen his pain.
“Please, baby, what happened?”
He finally looked at you, and your heart skipped a beat. You thought maybe he was going to confess something terrible, or else cry out in agony. But instead, he just smiled that soft, sleepy half-smile of his and placed his hand over top of yours, caressing your skin with his thumb.
“I made it okay,” he whispered to you.
Before you could react, footsteps thundered down the stairs behind you, the fury of their descent louder than the storm outside.
“What the hell is going on?” JJ bellowed.
“What are you doing here, Cameron?” Pope followed up.
John B rushed to Sarah’s side, placing a hand on her shoulder.
“Everything okay?” He asked the both of you.
“I don’t know,” you shook your head, rising to sit next to Rafe on the couch, slipping your hand into his. The sight only enraged JJ further.
“You have ten seconds to explain yourself and stop bleeding on our fucking couch, Rafe.” JJ barked.
“Jay, can’t you see he’s obviously hurt?” You snapped at your brother.
“Looks more like he did the hurting,” JJ replied.
“You don’t know that! You always assume the worst!” You yelled.
“Because he is the worst!” JJ yelled right back.
You stood in anger, ready to fight your own brother in defense of the man at your side. But Rafe grabbed your hand and pulled you back towards him, not lifting his head as he held you in place. His other hand reached into his back pocket, pulling out a piece of paper that had been folded to protect it from the rain.
Rafe looked up finally, but not at you, at JJ. He extended his arm to offer JJ the piece of paper.
JJ tiptoed over as if Rafe had somehow booby trapped the floorboards between them. You rolled your eyes at his dramatics.
With all eyes on him, and no sound but the storm outside, JJ unfolded the piece of paper. He read it for a long time. Like, a really long time. The little sister in you had to bite back a joke about his intellect, and you met eyes with Pope to see he was holding back the same comment. Even in this incredibly adult moment, you were kids together.
Finally, JJ looked up from the paper. Staring incredulously at Rafe.
“Is this for real?” JJ asked him, eyebrows raised.
Rafe just nodded, the movement causing the cut on his lip to open, making him wince in pain. You sat down beside him again, watching him anxiously for signs that he was hurt elsewhere.
JJ just stared at the two of you for a moment before turning and leaving the room, dropping the piece of paper on the coffee table as he left. Pope and John B went to it immediately to read what had caused JJ to storm out, but you didn’t even care at this point, all that mattered was Rafe being okay, you needed him to be okay.
Except, JJ hadn’t stormed out. He had only gone to the kitchen, from which he was now returning, a bottle of whiskey and a bag of frozen peas in hand. He offered both to Rafe, Rafe opted for the whiskey. He twisted open the cap and took a sip, wincing as it went down.
You grabbed the peas from your brother, holding them up to Rafe’s black eye. He flinched at the contact but settled after a minute. JJ watched as Rafe placed his hand on your leg gratefully and handed back the bottle of whiskey.
“What’s the bourbon for? Drowning our sorrows?” Cleo asked.
“No,” John B said, he and Pope looking up from the paper with disbelieving grins. “Celebrating.”
“What does it say?” Kie asked, stepping further into the room, though she continued to eye Rafe like he was a wild animal that could go feral at any minute.
“We got the land back. They’re not rezoning,” Pope explained. “We’re keeping Poguelandia.”
The room froze for a minute, then erupted in a burst of hoots and hollers. Finally, the storm had some noise to compete with. The others hugged and cheered. Sarah rose from the couch and threw herself into John B’s arms.
“How’d you do it, man?” John B asked Rafe.
“Don’t worry about it,” Rafe said, squeezing your leg three times. “I just took care of it, okay?”
He sounded aggressive, like he always did when addressing these six people, but you saw this for what it really was - a peace offering. A grand gesture. A declaration of his love for you. He gave you your home back, he gave you everything.
As the others continued to celebrate, the volume in the house reaching new heights as they passed around the bottle of whiskey and toasted Poguelandia, you leaned into Rafe, your chin tucked into his shoulder so you could whisper something in his ear.
He smiled at your words, raising his arm to wrap around your shoulders and curling you toward him so he could bring his lips to your temple.
“I love you, too.”

BACK TO YOU — JINU ࣪ 𖤐.ᐟ

summary: he comes back home. to you.
content: fem!reader, angst, happy ending, a kiss, ~800 words, i dont really know what to feel abt this but lmk what you think!
a/n: he lives!!!!! (i yelled as they dragged me inside the asylum)
★☆ ★
Heart heavy. Eyes puffy. Mind foggy.
Why did you decide to get attached to a demon in the first place?
Sucks on you.
The air in your apartment was chilling, making you fall farther back into your mattress. Blanket covering your body as you stare at your ceiling.
The girls have come knocking, wanting to make sure you’re still alive because of how long you were cooped up.
You couldn’t bring yourself to do anything after the incident.
Part of you almost feels stupid, how are you letting his death affect you so much? You haven’t even known him for that long.
“Then, why does it hurt so bad?” you whispered to yourself, tears streaming down your puffy cheeks.
Suddenly, the sliding door to your balcony opened, adding the cold wind sweep across your room. You startled awake, rubbing your eyes to get your vision in focus as you walked to the balcony. The city looks almost ethereal with the golden honmoon.
Your body jumps in shock when you notice the huge pair of bright eyes staring at you. “Tiggy?” crouching down, the tiger slowly moved closer, snuggling closer to your hand and chest, “What are you doing here baby?”
“Why? A guy can’t see a pretty girl anymore?”
Your heart drops. Fingers stopping scratches on the tiger’s head, not brave enough to look up.
His voice. No. No way. Your head is playing tricks.
Shaking your head, you muttered to yourself, “Nope. No. I’m just dreaming.” hiding your face in the tiger’s fluffy fur, “This is so not funny.”
Jinu’s chest clenched at your voice, taking slow steps until he is crouched in front of you, “Hi, sweetheart.”
You blinked your tears away, hugging the tiger tighter, “Go away.” voice so fragile, so tired.
The man leaned forward, his hesitating hand hovering above your head. “Hey, look at me.” slowly dropping his hand to the back of your neck as his thumb grazed your skin comfortingly.
You shook your head, “You’re not real.”
His eyes softens, realising how much pain you are in, “Yes I am. I’m right here.”
With all the courage that you possess, you brought your head up. He’s right.
He is right here.
Right in front of you.
He smiles warmly, gazing at your face, “Oh, princess.” he brings his palm to the side of your face, heart clenching when he notices your tear streaks, puffy eyes and runny nose.
You sniffle, leaning into his warm palm, “I miss you so much.” a pout forming on your lips.
Jinu has to stop himself from grinning at how cute you looked, choosing to peck your cheeks instead, “Missed you too.”
A moment passed by as you stared at each other. Before the whole situation crashes on you fully, anger and grief overcome your system.
Everything was so overwhelming.
Shoving his shoulders back, “Where the hell did you go?” you yelled, standing up and stomping inside your bedroom. Picking up the pile of clothes on the floor and putting them inside of your wardrobe.
He didn’t even move when you pushed him. He understood. He would be in pain too.
He sighed. You took a deep breath, trying to calm your racing heart.
“I had to take care of some stuff before I can see you.” carefully moving into your room, he surveyed the mountain tissues on the side of your bed, “You really missed me, huh?”
You scoff, “Shut up.” stumbling when the tiger tried to cuddle to your leg, making you smile.
Jinu softly grins at the sight of you, nose still red and sniffling, hoodie engulfing your figure. You look soft, sweet, vulnerable.
He stops right behind you, body so close you can feel how warm he is, “I miss you too.” he whispers.
Letting out a shaky breath and biting your lip in nervousness, you slowly turned around and looked up to meet his eyes,
“There’s my girl.” he smiles, rough fingers caressing your cheek.
“I never want to feel like that ever again.” you lean into his warm palm, holding his wrist.
He leans in, your breaths mingling with each other, “May I?” his thumb not stopping grazing your cheek.
You nod, letting him lean down to slot your lips together. The kiss was slow, calming your screaming thoughts, as you scrunch his jacket in your hands.
“Fuck.” he whispers against your mouth, moving more desperate, his hands moving to grip your waist to bring you closer. “Missed you so much, sweetheart.”
Giggling, you break apart to take in more breaths, hands now on the back of his neck, fingers grazing his skin making him shudder. “I might go on a wim and say that you missed me.”
He laughs and kisses your forehead, pulling your head to rest against his chest and hugging you as he lays his head on top of your head.
For a demon he has a really loud heartbeat.
“Your heart is beating so fast.” you chuckled, wrapping your arms around him, fully melting into his embrace.
Jinu’s cheeks went warm, he coughs, “Shut up.” backing away and meeting your eyes again, “I’m not going anywhere.” a pause, “Promise.”
“You better not.” you shove his shoulder.
He laughs, pulling you closer.
“I’m home, already.”

Pins and Needles
Lando X Bff!Fewtrell!Reader
Summary: Y/N doesn't know where she and Lando stand anymore. Their once-tight friendship soon started to tear at the seams.
Warning(s): just pure angst, Lando being toxic (sorry y'all), making out, Charles Leclerc incoming, depression, lack of self-worth
A/N : I can't help myself y'all ok 🥲 This one is gonna hurt, I'm sorry but also not sorry. Enjoy 🙂 (Written and inspired by Nessa Barrett's song Pins and Needles)

Hand on the stove, I barely feel it
And when I let go, I'm already healing
This was not how it was supposed to go.
How it was supposed to wind up.
Y/N didn't even know how she got herself into this situation.
Deep down, she knew exactly how she got herself into this situation, she just didn't want to admit to it.
It started when one drunk night at the club in Monaco led to her becoming tangled up in her best friend's sheets, whispering sweet nothings to one another. The sly touches as the sun crept through the blackout curtains the next morning.
That was when their situation bloomed. Things had become messier between Lando and Y/N.
Little did Y/N realize just how deep she had fallen for the man she had known almost her entire life. He was comfortable. Familiar. Trustworthy.
At the start.
Things at the beginning were smooth. Nothing but absolute lust, addiction, and hunger. It rose and rose, some moments almot becoming reckless.
They couldn't keep their hands off one another. From sneaking around the paddock, to the club bathrooms, to the bedroom next door to Max's. It became reckless. Animals in heat. The craving was insatiable.
The pair didn't know if the sneaking around made them this way, or the fact that it was supposed to be a forbidden relationship. Max would've had Lando's head. He'd have six feet under the ground.
She didn't mean to fall more in love with the boy. She thought it would be harmless. Her feelings would subside. Not do the complete opposite and skyrocket. The way he had begun to treat their little situationship as if they were together is what got her the most.
He made her feel like she was the only one.
Till he slowly became more sloppy. Bailing out on plans more often, leaving her high and dry while saying something came up. The distance became clearer. It was the late-night visits that were only making a daily appearance. No talking, just becoming tangled in the bedsheets.
Their friendship had begun to fade out, only turning into meaningless sex. At least that's what she believed.
She never understood why. What had she done for him to pull away slowly? What was she missing?
Y/N couldn't tell anyone, as she didn't have anyone she told about it. Not trusting a single soul to keep it quiet if things got tricky. Especially not when Max had no idea of what was happening behind closed doors.
When he began to ask why her mood had become more glum, as if she had almost faded. She just used the excuse of lack of sleep, or was just having one of those days.
He didn't question it, only gave her a lingering look, then didn't push further. He knew better.
It wasn't long till she found out why. Why Lando pulled away from her, let their friendship fade out, as well as their late night hookups.
They say your name, I don't even hear it
You dug your own grave, and nobody's grieving
The articles all read and show him with a new girl, a blonde model and actress. She was pretty. His type, too. He looked happy, a genuine smile on his lips as he looked at her.
That's when she noticed the way her chest tightened, crashed in on itself.
He had been seeing this girl, Magui, she thinks her name was, without saying a thing to her. She thought they were close enough that he would've been honest. He has never lied to her. In all the years she had known him, it wasn't something he did.
She remembered when she found out, she sat there trying to figure out what to say to him. Her first message sounded angry. Hurt, betrayed, lost, and confused.
Instead, she clicked the power button off, thinking it was best to not say a word. Instead, she let it fade away. Let him fade away.
There had been a day Y/N was at her brother's, sitting on the barstool while he cooked food with Pietra.
"Is she nice?" she asks, hinting at Lando's new girl. Max looked at her with an unsure gaze, shrugging his shoulders.
"From what I can tell, yeah," he answers. "Still a bit skeptical about her, though. About her past, mainly. Everything is still unclear about what happened between her and Luisna. Lando won't really talk about it."
She nods, deciding not to push any further, picking at the food on her plate.
"Have you heard from him lately?" Pietra asks this time. "I haven't seen you two around one another lately. Usually it's hard to pull you both away from the other," she tries to joke. Max looked back at his sister with just as curious of a look.
"You two haven't been talking?" he asks, Y/N just shrugs.
"Not really," she admits. "Always says something's come up. It's fine, I'm not gonna push it. He's happy."
Max looks at her with a little bit of shock on his face. "You two have been close for years. Closer than him and me, why would he just push you away?"
Y/N knew the real answer to it, but she couldn't give that away. As she knew Max would lose his shit if he knew. Lando would be lucky to leave the brawl with a head on his shoulders if Max found out.
So instead, the girl just shrugs. "Don't know. Just assumed maybe he doesn't want to make things look weird with his new girl. Probably doesn't want her to think anything else."
Max scoffs playfully at that, pouring his eggs onto his own plate. "Trust me, if there was more, I would've known. She wouldn't have had anything to worry about. He'd have a lot more to deal with if that were the case."
She just stays silent, Pietra sensing the awkwardness in the room, deciding to change the subject.
Shot my heart with Novacane
Ice-cold, cut off my blood flow
It had turned into hearing from Lando every other week, and maybe seeing him when he came to help with collabs for Quadrant. When the pair would be streaming with the other streamers, he wouldn't so much as acknowledge her in the chat.
It would be short answers if anything.
Her chest burned every time she made eye contact with him, the gazes between the pair always having something between them. Something she couldn't quite explain.
It wasn't until she had been dragged out to a race day with Max and P, that she could feel the need to hide away in a corner for the rest of her life.
She kept her distance whenever Lando would come around, the boy not missing the way she would excuse herself when he came by.
He should've known.
He caused the tension between them. He pulled back when he only wanted to get closer to her.
He found another girl while in denial of how deeply in love he was with his homeboy's sister, and his best friend. Magui was his way out. His escape from his reality. Even if it wasn't the right way.
He had to let Y/N go, even if it meant he couldn't be in her life anymore.
At least that's what he told himself.
You think you're important,, boy, I've got bad news
You're mean and you're boring, they'll all forget you
Y/N had been standing over by the motorhomes, sipping on the coffee in her hand, when she felt someone bump into her back. The sip had turned into a mess, dripping down onto her white tube top she wore on the hot day.
She turned around to meet the eyes of a familiar Monégasque man, who looked at her in horror. "Shit, Y/N I am so sorry," he nervously chuckles, his eyes seeing the new stain on her top. "I should've been more careful. I was so caught up in the conversation I-"
"Charles," she giggles, making him look at her. "It's okay. At least it wasn't a hot coffee, yeah?"
He snorts while rubbing the back of his neck. "Now that I definitely would've never heard the end of."
She chuckles. "You still won't hear the end of this one," she jokes, making him give her a genuine smile before chuckling back at her. He motions to her shirt.
"At least lemme help get you a new top? I can't bear the thought of you having to be stuck with explaining how the stain came about."
"Ahhh I see you want to protect your perfect image, I suppose?" she tuts playfully, making him widen his eyes.
"What? No I meant like it would probably be annoying having to say the story a thousand times, or you could get weird looks from people, or-"
"Oh my goodness, Charles! I'm joking," she laughs while putting her hands on his shoulders. She watches him visibly relax at her touch and her words, rubbing his hand over his face.
"Sorry, I just," he chuckles breathlessly. "You make me nervous, is all."
She raises her brows, a small smirk on her lips. "Oh, I do now?"
He rolls his eyes with a groan. "I'm never gonna hear the end of this."
She hums. "I didn't know I made the famous Ferrari driver nervous," she jokes while crossing her arms and giving him a knowing look.
His eyes flicker down from her eyes to her lips for a split second, then he smiles at her. "A little."
"A little?"
He purses his lips. "Okay a bit more than a little."
She laughs at his little confession, Charles pinching her waist as he pulls her with him. "You can give me shit later," he laughs. "But right now let's go get you changed into something that doesn't have a stain on it."
She lets him drag her along to the Ferrari paddock, in search of Rebecca and Carlos, knowing the WAG always had a backup set of clothing on her when need be.
Once Charles had found them, he explained the situation, watching as Rebecca lit up and happily said she'd lend a helpful hand.
Y/N followed the girl, keeping up the small talk as they made their way to the Ferrari motorhome, where Rebecca had a cute top waiting for Y/N.
She knew she wouldn't hear the end of it, the color of the top being a bright Ferrari red. It was a one-shoulder cropped tank top, the color sitting beautifully on her skin. Rebecca gave her a low whistle, causing Y/N to chuckle and roll her eyes.
"Red looks so good on you," she says, making Y/N shrug. Rebecca gives her a knowing look, but says nothing as the pair made their way back to the paddock.
Charles did a double take when she returned, his eyes taking in the red top that adorned her skin.
He smiled as he walked up to her. "Red is your color I think," he says, making her roll her eyes.
"Rebecca said the same thing," she answers, watching him nod. "She's never wrong."
Y/N thanks Rebecca one more time, alongside a hug. "Think about it," Rebecca whispers into the girl's ear before pulling away with a wink.
Charles then walks Y/N back over to the McLaren paddock where her brother and P sat. Max frowned at his sister. "I've been looking for you. Where did you run off to?" his eyes then dart to the new top she was wearing, then back to Charles. He gave Max a look.
"I bumped into her and thought I could help her get a new top," he explains. "I felt bad. So blame me for stealing her. Sorry, mate."
Max chuckles while nodding. "Of course it's a red top too," he jokes, Charles ears turning bright red, he puts his hands up in defense.
"Blame Rebecca for that one," he sputters, Max doing a once-over with a smug smirk while nodding slowly. "Uh-huh," Max trails off. "Well, thank you for helping her out," he says, a smug smirk only getting wider.
Charles nods curtly, before facing Y/N with a small smile, and squeezes her side. "Good seeing you, cherie," he mutters to her, kissing her cheek before he leaves her. Y/N realizing her side feeling slightly colder than it did when his hand was there.
She turns to watch him leave and head down the stairs, biting her lip without realizing it. Her head turns back to face her brother and Pietra.
The pair is staring at her with smug and knowing smiles. Max leans back in his seat, crossing his arms and clearing his throat.
Y/N squints her eyes at them. "What?" Watching her brother nod at her.
"Someone has a crush."
She scoffs at her brother. "You're reading into things," she chuckles while shaking her head.
Pietra laughs. "Oh, honey, no. You two were staring at each other like you want to-"
"Don't even say what you're going to say," Max whines, covering his face. "I don't need to hear that."
Y/N just laughs, pointing at Pietra. "You're wrong on top of that."
Pietra rolls her eyes with a smirk, and before she can argue further, Lando is seen walking up to the group, making Y/N want to fade away.
Lando sees her, only doing a double-take when he sees the color of her shirt, also realizing that this was indeed not the color she was wearing earlier. He slowly points at her shirt, Max chuckles.
"Dear old Ferrari man has a crush on my sister," Max admits, then points at her. "She's crushing on him as well."
"Maxwell!" Y/N hisses, watching him crack up. She doesn't miss the way Lando's facial expression drops, something unreadable in his expression.
"What d'you mean?" he asks slowly. Y/N groans while hiding her face.
"What he means," Pietra starts. "Charles spilled coffee on her and helped her get a new shirt. And apparently that was his chance to get her in red."
Lando's eyes snapped down to Pietra, Max just sitting there in a fit of giggles as his sister kicks his shin.
"He was just being helpful," Y/N grumbles. "Besides, Rebecca was the one who gave it to me. Not Charles."
Max looks back at her. "Sure, we know that," he says between laughs. "But the eye fucking you two were doing before he left said more than that. Especially that little kiss move-"
"He kissed you?" Lando cuts in, his tone sharp and stern. Max and Pietra look at him with certain looks. His head and eyes only focused on Y/N in that moment, who was now shifting on her feet with her arms crossed.
"It was just on the cheek," she rolls her eyes before glaring at Max. "Stop making it sound like he laid me out on the table or something," she hisses, making Lando choke on his spit while Max gagged.
"That's vile, do not ever say that again," he points at his sister with a disgusted look. "Second, I'm only saying it because I think you two would be good together."
That makes her eyes widen in shock, watching him put his hands up in defense.
"Say what now? I thought you said no racers."
He hums with a nod before pointing out to Lando. "Yeah, I said that mainly for that one," he says, missing how his mate clenched his jaw. "Charles, on the other hand? I hope it does happen. He's one of the good ones."
Y/N coughs awkwardly, not missing the way Lando scoffed at his best friend's words, mumbling something under his breath as he crossed his arms.
"Can we just change the subject, please? I'm not crushing on Charles, and I'm not going to date him."
Max gives her a knowing look before turning his gaze towards Lando. He frowns. "You good, mate?" he asks, watching as Lando snaps his gaze at Max. He nods curtly.
"Just don't care to hear about her sex life, you muppet. Charles is a player and only wants what he can't have," he admits, not missing the way Y/N glared straight to the side of his face. "Anyways, we're getting ready to start. I was gonna walk you lots to the club level."
Max nods before taking Pietra's hand to guide her. Lando kept his pace next to Y/N's, the girl not missing how his hand would brush against hers every so often.
She could see the gears turning in his head, clenching his jaw every so often, as if he was preventing himself from saying or doing something he might regret. Max and Pietra were further ahead of them, happily making their way to the balcony in the club level of the paddock, overlooking the racetrack.
"He can't give you what I can," the brit says next to her, causing her to snap her gaze at him with a frown. She scoffs.
"That's awfully daft, coming from you," she shoots back. "You ghosted me, remember? You don't have a say in my actions."
"Oh, so you are seeing Leclerc huh?"
She scoffs. "Go check on your girlfriend, Norris. The one you dropped me for."
He glares at her. "Y/N-"
"End of discussion, Lando."
She walks away, a part of her wanting him to grab her and pull her back. Show her she was his. Even if it was behind closed doors. The other part of her was happy he didn't. She wanted him to see that he couldn't have her. He missed the opportunity.
Don't call me your ex, 'cause I never met you
She kept close to her brother and P the entire race, zoning out the entire time the race went on.
Her mind didn't know what to think.
She missed Lando. She really did.
The other part of her though, was also pulling towards Charles.
Y/N couldn't tell if it was just because of how Lando reacted, or because of how she felt a new feeling whenever Charles was near her.
Or how she caught her stare lingering longer on Charles as he took P2. Or how his eyes found hers in the crowd, staring back at her, his smile becoming wider when he saw she was staring first.
It's all pins and needles, babe
I feel nothing for you, nothing for you
Now, here she stood, in the VIP section of the Monaco club after Lando placed P1 at his home race.
She had a drink in her hand, pretty sure the glass could break under her grip. Her eyes did not leave the way his hands and body moved with the blonde on the dancefloor.
At this point she couldn't tell if she was jealous, or pissed off. Or both.
She watched as his hands moved along her body, how his lips never left her body as they danced. He looked like a wet dream.
"You hold onto that glass any tighter, it's gonna shatter and cut up that pretty hand," a familiar French accent says next to her. Her eyes snap out of the daze, turning to see Charles taking the spot next to her.
He nods at her slowly. "You alright, cherie?" he asks her, making her laugh to herself before spinning a finger around the rim of her glass.
"Honestly, I don't know," she admits, looking back at his confused frown. "Can I be honest?"
"Always."
She sighs. "I had been seeing this guy. We weren't anything exclusive, but at the same time, it felt like it. Then out of nowhere, he just stops. No explanation, no excuses, nothing. Just drops me like I'm nothing," she explains, letting a bitter chuckle leave her lips.
"Then I found out it's because he had another girl. I don't even know how long. It was just out of the blue, and I guess I shouldn't have been as upset as I was about it. But I can't help it."
Charles takes in every word she's saying, nodding and humming at the appropriate times.
"It burns my chest seeing them, seeing him, act like I never even mattered," she admits. "But then, I began to realize something else. There's this other guy. I didn't even realize I felt good around him. Like I could relax around his presence. Forget about why I was so hurt about the other guy," she explains, not even realizing how easy it had become to open up to Charles.
The way his expression showed no judgment. No sense of uneasiness as she spoke. Just a genuine expression that showed he was listening to her.
"And part of me wanted this guy I was seeing," she says more to herself. "But a bigger part of me really wants this guy that makes me feel seen. Heard."
Charles nods at her, taking a sip of his drink. "You alright if I give you my advice?" he asks cautiously.
She nods. "Always," she copies his words, making him grin at her.
He points at Lando. "He's an idiot for letting you go," he admits, watching her face contort to confusion, and then to shock before shaking her head.
"I didn't- How did-"
He laughs at her, stepping closer. "It's not hard to see. You two weren't as slick as you thought," he admits, Y/N feeling her face begin to heat up.
"I'm sorry," she admits with a sigh, looking down at her now-empty glass. "I didn't mean to sound like that. I just- I didn't have anyone I trusted to talk to."
"And I'm just easier to talk to? Someone you trust?" he asks her, leaning his elbow on the bar behind them, a knowing smirk on his lips. She snaps her head to him.
As she was about to say something, he stood up straight, walked to stand in front of her, and took the glass from her fingers. She doesn't miss the way his fingers brush hers, goosebumps rising on her skin. He places the glass on the mahogany behind them, his eyes lowering to her own. She gulps as she watches his smirk widen just slightly, while he places both hands on the bar behind her, caging her in. His face was dangerously close to hers, the Monégasque not missing the way her breaths came out shaky.
"As for this other guy," he starts, his tone lower. Darker. "I think he's very worth your time. He wouldn't make you feel like Lando did. He'd take care of you. Treat you right. Show you how a woman like you should be worshipped."
Y/N feels her pulse quicken. "Besides," he mutters, bringing his lips closer to her own. "If you're choosing between two people, choose the second. Because if you really did like the first option, you wouldn't have fallen for the second."
That got Y/N's insides churning, knowing deep down Charles was right. He was so right.
He chuckled darkly as he watched his chest rising and falling quicker after he said that, placing his lips closer to her ear as he placed a light kiss against the lobe. "The second guy also just really wants to be selfish," he admits.
Y/N smiles slowly at his words, letting herself indulge slowly with Charles. She lets out a gasp as she feels his lips planting feather-light kisses from her jawline, down to her neck and her collarbone.
She finally trails her hands up his button-up, slipping underneath the half-open shirt, slithering to rest on the bare skin of his back just before it meets the crook of his neck. His head leaves her neck, bringing his head closer to her own.
"So this other guy," she says breathlessly. "You think he'd worship me, huh? Show me how worth it I am?"
He hums with a nod, kissing the corner of her lips. Y/N found herself craving more, her body aching for his own against hers. Skin to skin.
"He'd do more than just that," he chuckles against her jaw. "He'd take his time with you. Show you exactly how a woman like you should be appreciated. Till you're shaking."
Y/N lets out a breathless moan at that, one of her hands finding his hair. "Spoil you to death. Treat you like the absolute Queen you are."
Charles brings his head back up to really look at her. Y/N staring back into his own eyes, flicking down to his lips for a split second. "Charles," she says softly, earning a hum from him. "Kiss me please."
That's all it took for Charles to take her jaw in his hands, placing a passionate and messy kiss on her lips. Their teeth clashed, tongues messily battling against one another as she kissed him with such need. Such obsession.
The more they kissed, the more they craved one another. Charles let his hands fall from her jaw to her hips, pulling her lower body into his.
Lando was long forgotten in Y/N's mind. He was the last thing she was thinking of; she could forget his name if Charles kept up the way he touched and kissed her.
Little did she realize, Lando was now frozen in his spot on the floor. His eyes darkened. He glared as he watched the girl his heart yearned for, and the guy who was going to be six feet under if looks could kill.
He could tell it wasn't just for show either. She really wanted Charles. Charles wanted her.
He only knew that because of how she was kissing Charles, it was the way she used to kiss him. His heart hurt, chest tightened. He couldn't tear his eyes away from the scene across the club.
Magui was long forgotten in that moment, Lando realizing he lost the girl he wanted most.
He should've known.
Y/N whines at the loss of Charles' lips when he pulls back, the man looking down at her blown-out state. Her lips swollen as her eyes look up at him with a knowing look.
"What do you say, cherie?" he says slowly, watching her slowly smile.
"I think I'm open to giving this other guy a chance," she jokes, watching him bite his lip to hide the big ear to ear smile that was forming.
He leaned down to kiss her once more, before breaking away and lacing a hand with hers.
Charles began to lead her away from the bar, his gaze locking with Lando's as they passed by.
He didn't miss the way Lando slightly mouthed a 'what the fuck' at his friend, a glare in his direction. Charles held his head up high, smirking at Lando, giving him a sly little wink before he turned his attention to Y/N.
Lando saw the way her eyes looked up at Charles, like she finally felt happy. At ease in his presence. Like she had forgotten Lando existed in that moment. She probably did, and that hit him like a truck.
He watched as Charles placed his other hand on her lower back to help keep her next to him as they pushed through the crowd, making sure not to lose her as they headed out.
Lando didn't even excuse himself from Magui, earning a shocked squeak from her as she watched him rush away from the dancefloor.
Lando scurried past everyone and towards the front entry, pushing past the people who were trying to congratulate him as he passed by.
He didn't give a single fuck about any of them, his mind only thinking about her.
Please. Don't go home with him
His mind begged, wishing she could read minds. Read his.
The way he knew he was already way too late. Months too late.
Once he had gotten outside, he had seen Charles shutting her door before turning to thank the valet workers. His eyes flicked twice over to Lando's state. Trying his best to hide the winning smirk as he saw the disheveled state of the British man.
Charles looked back at his car towards her window, before looking back at Lando. He walked up to him, Lando's gaze hardening as he got closer.
"Don't," Lando warns him.
Warning him to not cross this line. To not take the girl that Charles knew he was so in love with, not take her home. He didn't like this feeling. He hated it.
That's when he realized what it was.
Lando Norris was jealous. He was jealous beyond words.
He never gets jealous.
Not until now.
Charles chuckles at him, patting his shoulder. "Lando," he chuckles. "You ruined your chances. Give her the chance to finally be happy, hm?"
He shook his head. "You can't give her what I can give her."
Charles bites his lower lip before speaking. "That's the point," he begins. "I wouldn't treat her like shit, like you did. I'll give her everything she deserves, and more. Not give her nothing, like you gave her."
That made Lando feel like he had been shot in the chest.
“I won’t ever let her feel or think she’s only good for one thing,” Charles adds, giving Lando a knowing look. Lando’s face drops slightly, then frowns. “I’m going to show her she’s worth more than she could ever imagine. Because she is.” Charles admits, a genuine look in his eyes.
Lando doesn’t know what to say in that moment. He felt defeated.
Because part of him knew (all of him knew) that Charles was good for her. He wouldn’t treat her anything lower than the Goddess she was.
Lando just hated that it wasn’t him.
Charles pats him on the shoulder. "Goodnight, mate," he says before walking away and getting into the car. Lando watched as the pair drove off into the night. Something was burning inside Lando's chest. Burned in his eyes.
Tears.
Jealousy.
Need.
Y/N smiled to herself as Charles and she drove along the roads, his hand gently on her thigh while hers rested on top of his.
Her phone buzzed, not once, not twice, but three times. This caused her to pick it up and look down at it. She thought she would feel something, anything, as she read the messages.
Please, don't go with him. I'm so in love with you
Come back to me, I'll be better. It hurts to see you not with me. Hurts to see you happy with him. I'll prove myself. I'll do better, for you
It's always been you
Y/N takes a deep breath as she begins to type with her free hand.
Your time ran out. A long time ago, Lando. It's time I let myself be happy.
Goodbye Lando
With that, she turned her phone off and looked over at Charles. His eyes gazed back at her, nothing but admiration as he stared at her.
"You okay?" he asks softly. She takes a moment before nodding.
"Yeah," she hums. "I am now."

✷✷✷
“can i try your strap?”
were the words you were not expecting to come out of paige’s mouth on a random tuesday night. surprised was an understatement, to say the least. it wasn’t that you weren’t expecting it because she was a pillow princess, but because you barely ever used the strap on her yourself. in all honesty, you often would forget that you even owned one because it was rarely ever used.
nevertheless, you agreed without hesitation. how could you not? she was staring at you with a curious glint in her eyes and an excited smile pulling at her lips like she won a trophy when she asked, and she just looked so adorable. plus, you weren’t really a fan of telling that girl no and you knew she loved to make you feel good.
her hands ran softly over your sides as she stared down at you, seemingly taking in the moment like she couldn’t believe it was real. you were lying on your back with your head against the pillows, knees bent and parted with your feet flat on the mattress as you waited for her. she was kneeling between them but sitting back on her heels, the strap dangling between you two as she took in the sight of you beneath her.
and she’s looking at you with fascination, like she’s never seen anything like this–that she can’t believe she’s actually doing this.
one of her hands trailed from your side, tracing over your stomach and down to ghost over your clit. you sucked in a breath at the feeling, but held eye contact with her. you were growing a little impatient as she just sat there. she had already given you one orgasm with her mouth and fingers, but you were pretty much desperate to see the way she handled this–how she looked on top of you, inside you.
“you still want me to?” she asked softly.
“yes,” you breathed.
she nodded once, then leaned forward so she was hovering over you and braced herself with one hand resting next to your head on the pillow. a sudden nervousness from the new experience washed over her, but she shook her head almost imperceptibly to rid her mind of the thoughts and any doubt that may cause her to back out. but when she raised her hand to her mouth and casually let a slow string of spit fall into her palm, then reached down and rubbed it onto the silicone, it seemed like she had done it a million times before.
“wanna make it feel good,” she mumbled sheepishly, looking down between the two of you.
“that was hot,” you said with raised eyebrows even though she couldn’t see it.
she pressed the tip of the silicone against you, rubbing it over your clit a few times before settling on your entrance. her eyes flicked back up to your face as she pressed against it, enough to apply pressure but not enough to push inside you yet.
“yeah?” she asked with a sultry tone, a proud smirk–proud of herself for doing well–tugging at the corners of her mouth. her hand rose from the silicone, coming up to cradle your jaw like it wasn’t still a little slick.
she looked delicious. her pupils were blown and cheeks were flushed from lust, her hair thrown into a low messy bun so it didn’t get in her face, and her lips were red and swollen from kissing.
she softly pressed her thumb against your bottom lip. “open your mouth,” she whispered, then quickly added, “please.”
you wanted to smile from how you had basically trained her to say please when she was asking for something, even if it sounded more like a demand. but you didn’t, you did what she said and opened your mouth, suddenly feeling curious for where this was about to go–even though you had an idea.
and then, just like she did with her palm, she let a slow string of spit fall from her lips onto your tongue. she kept her eyes trained on yours like she was afraid you would pull away from the obscene act, trying to make sure that you weren’t turned off by the action. you held eye contact as you closed your mouth and swallowed.
without warning, her hips jerked a little bit, causing the tip to dip inside you–only about an inch.
“fuck,” you moaned softly at the unexpected intrusion. your eyes fell shut for a moment and hands flew to her sides, but you quickly opened them again as a signal that you were okay. that you were just surprised and it felt good.
“shit, ’m sorry,” she said softly, moving her thumb from your lip so her hand could rest on the side of your neck. her eyes were wide in surprise, her hips frozen in place like she had done something wrong. “i didn’t mean to. i wanted to go slow–make it really good for you.”
you smiled reassuringly, raising one of your hands to cup her cheek. “you’re doing so good, baby. keep going.”
still, she didn’t seem convinced. her eyes shifted back and forth between yours for a few seconds, searching for any kind of doubt. when she didn’t find any, she leaned forward to press a soft kiss against your lips–her movements tense like she was suddenly stripped of her confidence. but she rocked her hips forward just slightly anyway, testing the waters, not pushing anymore than another inch.
she flicked her eyes down, her mouth dropping open when she saw the way you were swallowing the silicone. the hand on your jaw shifted to the pillow beside you so she could brace herself, caging you in with her arms as her fingers gripped the fabric tightly. her eyes stayed trained where they were as she continued to slowly push in.
when she got halfway, you were admittedly getting a little impatient, so you shifted your hips so that she bottomed out. a gasp left her lips, her eyes shifting back up to yours. instead of waiting to give her the go-ahead and wait for her, you ground your hips against it, letting out a soft moan at the feeling.
she watched you grind–slow and greedy, watching the way your face contorted from pleasure–for about half a minute before she brought a hand down to press flatly on your lower stomach in an attempt to still your hips and calm you down–or maybe herself. her chest was heaving, lips still parted because she couldn’t believe this was actually happening.
“fuck, i could come just watching you do that,” she said breathily.
you wrapped your legs around her waist, locking your ankles behind her back and pulling her all the way in. “paige,” you said, your tone stern from your impatience. “just fuck me, please.”
the sound that choked out from the back of her throat sounded almost inhumane, and her hips snapped forward on their own accord to push the silicone even deeper, even though the full length was already inside you. you arched up into her automatically at the feeling.
“oh my god,” she moaned.
almost as if her elbow gave out, her body dropped on top of you so she was bracing herself against her forearm instead. and just like you wanted, she was moving her hips–slowly and shallowly thrusting in and out like she’s afraid to hurt you. she dropped her head into your neck, biting down on the soft skin of your trap muscle like it could somehow ground her.
“good girl,” you said, dragging your nails down her back.
as expected, her hips jolted forward again and she finally increased her pace to try to hide it. she picked up her head from your neck, too, wanting to watch your face as she worked into you at a speed that would have you convinced that this isn’t the first time. you couldn’t help but let your eyes fall closed and lips part.
“fuck, fuck,” she moaned, “thank you for letting me fuck you like this. love making you feel good.”
you couldn’t even contain the smile that rose to your lips at her adorable words–it was definitely a form of praise that you had not tapped into yet, but you were so glad that she said it in her drunken-off-pleasure state.
“i’m so proud of you, baby. doing so well for me,” you managed to choke out. “i should let you fuck me like this more often."
she slammed into you after that, not really on purpose, but it caused you to scream from pleasure. maybe it was the way her clit was grinding against the strap, maybe it was the pure bliss she felt from getting you off and hearing your moans (especially that scream), or maybe it was a mixture of both, but she felt herself squeezing her eyes shut tightly with a choked moan herself as she unraveled on top of you. her hips rolled quickly inside of you on their own accord, finding a rhythm that was by pure accident.
you reached between your bodies to circle your own clit with two fingers at a fast pace, trying to chase your own high as you watched her fall apart with trained eyes. it didn’t take longer than a few seconds before you were arching up into her again in your own orgasm. she came down before you did, and her body twitched above you as she watched you ride it out on the silicone.
when you finally came down, she collapsed her entire body weight on top of you with a groan. she didn’t bother to pull out, she made sure her hips stayed frozen so she didn’t overstimulate you while you were sensitive.
“i didn’t mean for that to be so fast,” she mumbled into the pillow next to your head.
you laughed, smoothing your palm over her back comfortingly. “it’s okay, baby. we’ll just go again.”

Summary: "It was everything, all at once, it was you, it was him, it was the broken girl inside you, crying to be healed, to be wanted, to be needed, to be loved, because you wanted to be loved, you wanted to be seen, you wanted someone to love you the way you deserved. You had always had so much love to give, but no one who could reciprocate, the world always taking, but never giving back."
Word Count: 11.6k
A/N: Plus-sized!reader x Trainerry based on this request <- To the Anon that requested this. I hope it's everything you wanted and more. I really had to pull at some feels for this one. Thanks you so much for this!!
Warning: Angsty self-hate with a happy ending, and a mild sweet smut scene at the end that you can skip if that's not your cup of tea. (Heavy themes centered around hatred of body-image/body shaming. All self-induced)
It wasn’t that you wanted to change yourself entirely. You just wanted to be able to look into the mirror and, for once, like what you saw. It wasn’t a size or a number you were after, you wanted the peace of mind, the relief, the weight of the stigma lifted for more than just the occasional, oh yeah, I look good kind of moments.
Because let’s face it, we all know those moments were fleeting, but what if you could feel it for longer? What if your eyes could roam over your body, and maybe, just maybe, you could spend less time picking yourself apart. What if you could try on those jeans and this time they fit just perfectly—none of the excruciating cut of the waist digging into your belly while you sat, or the fear of not even being able to button them in the first place.
You wanted freedom, you wanted joy, you wanted less days of the mental prison that your brain held you in every time you looked into the mirror, or binged on that food you knew you should avoid. That was what this would be, the journey you were ready to embark on—a journey to confidence, a journey to loving yourself, a journey back to you. These were the words you were filling your head with, the prep talk you had given yourself that morning as you got ready, and now that shit was laughable, you thought as you walked through the gym doors, eyes already darting around as a gust of cool air spread over your bare arms.
This was the part you hated, the part you were dreading. It hadn’t even been two seconds and you were already tugging at the hem of your oversized tee, your gaze scanning over bodies in motion, most fit as fuck, some laughing and moving about, some focused forward in the zone, their eye on a prize that felt out of your reach, bending and flexing with an effortless ease you couldn’t even wrap your mind around, let alone even conceive the amount of energy you knew went into making each rep look like a walk in the park.
And now you felt crazy, because you were signing yourself up willingly, putting yourself out there for what? To fail? To be judged?
Was this really what you wanted? Did you really hate yourself this much? Was this even considered hate, or was this self-love? Because suddenly, the line was becoming blurred, and here you stood, waiting by the front desk on full display, following the instructions given via email, because you were too weirded out to set up everything in person. Hell, you didn’t even know where the bathroom was. It wasn’t like you could disappear until you were ready.
So maybe you couldn’t run and hide, but you could hide behind your phone, and wait for your trainer, god, what was his name again? Henry? Harris? Fuck, how could you be blanking, and as you took to searching for your welcome email, a deep voice sounded through your frantic thoughts:
“Hey there! ” a cheerful voice called out.
That’s when you turned to see a tall figure approaching you, his bright smile lighting up the room as he ran a hand through his tousled dark hair, green eyes reflecting the light, and holy shit, that physique, that body screamed fitness. And as you peered over your shoulder to see if he was signaling for someone else, your heart skipped a beat, cheeks flushing, because there was no way in hell this dude was going to be your trainer.
“Oh… were you talking to me?” you stammered, trying to maintain eye contact but failing miserably, hands already fidgeting with the him of your shirt.
“Yes, you have a training session at 9, correct?” he asked, extending his hand. His grip was firm yet gentle, and you felt a jolt of electricity the second your hands collided. “I’m Harry, it’s really nice to meet you. I can’t wait to help you on this journey.”
“Thanks,” you replied, trying not to drool over his British accent as your voice came out small. Your palms were sweaty, and you quickly wiped them on your pants, hoping he didn’t notice.
“So, what are your fitness goals?” Harry asked, his tone encouraging and friendly, and just by the way he was making eye contact, you could tell that he was genuinely curious, like it wasn’t just his job to know.
For a second, you hesitated, your mind racing. You had so many thoughts swirling around this very question. What was it that you wanted again? To lose weight? Feel healthier? Gain some kind of confidence? But the words felt stuck in your throat, your mind going blank as you said, “Um, I just want to… you know, get in shape and feel better about myself,” you finally managed to say, your voice trembling slightly.
Harry nodded, his expression holding a warmth you weren’t expecting, maybe an understanding, like he knew exactly what you meant to say, a sort of grace given that sent a flutter to the pit of your stomach.“That’s a great start! Remember, it’s all about progress, not perfection. I’d love to work together to set some goals that suit you and your lifestyle. I’m all about sustainability for the long-term, not the instantaneous results that rarely last long.”
And even though his words sent a flicker of hope through you. You could feel the self-doubt trying to creep back in. “I’m not really sure about all this,” you admitted, eyes moving around the room. “I’ve never been good at working out, and honestly, this place isn’t really my vibe. Like a place I feel like I belong... I guess.”
Yet as you said the words, Harry’s smile never wavered. “I get it. Change is always a little uncomfy at first, but you know everyone starts somewhere. The important thing is that you’re here, ready to take that first step, and as cheesy as it sounds, I’ll be with you every step of the way.”
For a moment, you looked at him, holding his gaze, and that’s when the nervousness seemed to fade. There was something about his confidence and the kindness he exuded that was infectious, and you felt a small spark of determination ignite within you. “Okay…” You breathed.
“I’ll try my best, but I can’t promise you anything,” you told him with a small smile, feeling a bit more resolute, like yeah, maybe you could actually do this, like there was hope for the self-loathing bitch within you, because fuck her, she couldn’t have it all, you deserved a little light, some time away from the shadows of your self that kept stealing tiny moments of joy you could never get back.
At some point, you had to live, right?
“That’s the spirit!” Harry answered, his enthusiasm making your smile grow despite the lingering insecurities. “Shall we get started?”
And as he led you deeper into the gym, you couldn’t shake that feeling of awe, that mix of anxiety threatening the surface. You were about to do it, finally take that leap, about to be trained by this gorgeous guy, and while the thought made your heart race for maybe all the wrong reasons, you also felt a sense of possibility, like maybe, just maybe, this could be the beginning of something great, something to make you feel alive again.
But it’s crazy how quickly excitement can fade.
The first week was pure torture, and the second week was no better. You wanted to quit, but you didn’t know what you wanted.
That was the problem, wasn’t it? You had walked through those gym doors with all these grand ideas about transformation, about becoming someone new, but now, three weeks in, you were just as sweaty, still a breathless mess who couldn’t even do a proper squat without Harry having to adjust your form for the millionth time.
And god, those hands, always professional without a doubt, but there was something about the way they would ghost over your shoulders, the way they corrected your posture, or lightly pressed against your lower back to guide you, that had your skin burning from everything but the workout.
“Let’s try something different,” Harry said, and you could hear that patient tone, the one that never made you feel like the failure you knew you were.
He grabbed a bench, positioning it behind you. “…Seated squats. They’re gentler on the knees, and the bonus is they’ll help you build the strength for the full movement.”
Your first instinct was to prove yourself, to convince him you were able to do a full fucking squat like every other person in this gym, but somehow the words died in your throat when you caught sight of yourself in the mirror—red-faced, sweat pooling in places you didn’t want to think about, your oversized shirt clinging to rolls you had been spending years trying to hide, and lets not even get started on your arms, fucking hell, your arms felt like they were made of jello, wobbling with each movement. Not to mention your thighs had already been chafing with every step, that familiar burn a reminder of exactly why you had been avoiding this place for years.
It was torture, pure fucking torture, but you sat anyway.
“Hey,” Harry called out, pulling you from your thoughts, and suddenly he was in front of you, those green eyes level with yours as he crouched down. “Where’d you go just then?”
“Nowhere… I’m fine,” you lied, because what were you supposed to say? That you were having a mental breakdown over a squat? That you could feel every pair of eyes in the gym judging the “chubby girl” who couldn’t even do basic exercises?
But Harry just nodded, like he knew exactly what you weren’t saying. “Right then, seated squats it is. And after that, we’ll work on some upper body stuff. Sound good?”—The thing about Harry was that he never seemed to push when you shut down. His superpower was to redirect, adapt, and move on to something else, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
Never an ounce of judgment.
You had noticed other things too, in these first three weeks—like how sometimes he shifted his weight to his left side during demonstrations, or how he would choose specific exercises over others without explanation. Once, when he was showing you how to do lunges, he distinctly favored his right leg, the change so evident that you almost asked about it, but something in his expression had stopped you.
One day, near the end of week three, the gym’s usual crowd of fitness models decided to make their appearance. You had recognized them by now, you know the type, the group of women who looked like they just stepped out of a Lululemon catalog, all tight abs and perfect ponytails, not a jiggle in sight. They were hard to miss, and even more apparent the way they gravitated toward Harry like moths to a flame, and why wouldn’t they? He was gorgeous, British, and had the kind of body that made you wonder what he looked like without a single scrap of clothing.
And these were the kind of thoughts that you had to shake from your head, because you didn’t want to go there.
Not when he was that close.
“Harry!” one of them shouted, her outfit like a latex glove, leaving little to the imagination as she bounded over. “Could you check my form on these hip thrusts?”
And fuck, you would have laughed if you weren’t trying to make yourself invisible, focusing on your water bottle like it held the secrets of the universe, but you couldn’t help watch them from the corner of your eye. Harry glanced at his watch and then back at the woman.
“Sorry, Melissa, I’m with a client right now,” he said, and was it your imagination or did he step slightly closer to you? “Maybe check with Tom at the front desk about booking a session.”
That was when the woman’s eyes flicked to you, and you could practically feel the onset of her assessment, knew the exact look she was giving, that up-and-down glance that was cataloguing every flaw, every roll, every reason you didn’t belong here. But Harry had already turned back to you, already demonstrating the next exercise like the interaction hadn’t even happened.
“Right, so for this one, you’ll want to keep your core engaged to protect your low back,” he was saying, but all you could think about was how he had just dismissed her, how he had chosen to stay focused on you when he could have just as easily given her five minutes of attention, and you chalked it up to professionalism without a second thought. He was getting paid to train you, after all.
This was his job.
But then why did your stupid heart skip when he smiled at you after you completed your set?
Week four started like any other, except it felt harder as you dragged yourself through the gym doors, already anticipating the torture ahead. You felt like shit... not good at all, more like death had warmed over you. Even though your body was starting to recognize the routine, your brain was still screaming at you to run every time you saw the weight rack.
“Morning!” Harry called out, and damn him for always being so cheerful at 9 in the morning. “How’re you feeling? Any soreness from last session?”
“Just my entire body,” you groaned, but there was less bite to it than before. “Who knew your ass muscles could be this sore.”
He laughed, that genuine sound that made his eyes crinkle at the corners. “Well, that means you’re doing it right, and that’s a win, ay? Today we’re going to work on some balance exercises, really activate those stabilizer muscles.”
You were halfway through a set of single-leg stands, wobbling like a baby giraffe and cursing Harry’s name in your mind when it happened. It was quick, you losing your balance—again—and you stumbled backward, your elbow connecting with Harry’s leg as he moved to steady you, and out of nowhere, he made a sharp, pained, involuntary sound that made your blood run cold.
“Oh my god, I’m so, so sorry!” and when you whirled around, he was gripping his knee, face tight with a pain that looked too familiar to be from your clumsy elbow. “Harry, I—”
“It’s fine,” he said quickly, but his voice was strained, and he was still holding his knee like it might shatter if he let go. “Just an old injury acting up. Nothing to do with you. I promise…”
But you had seen that kind of pain before, in your own mirror when your body would decide to remind you of all the ways it had been pushed too far. “Sit down,” you tell him, taking charge of the situation, surprising even yourself in the process. “Seriously, sit.”
For a second, he looked like he might protest, but something in your expression must have convinced him because he lowered himself onto the nearest bench, still favoring that right knee. The gym suddenly felt too quiet, too exposed, and without thinking, you positioned yourself between him and the rest of the room, like you could shield him from all the curious glances.
“It’s an old football injury,” he said finally, the words coming out reluctant, like he was still trying to hold them back. “Soccer… I mean—sorry, I know you Americans call it soccer. Tore my ACL completely about six years ago. Had surgery, did all the physio, but...” He shrugged, a gesture that looked too casual for the weight of what he was sharing. “Sometimes bodies don’t heal the way they’re supposed to.”
Startled by his words, you stared at him, this perfect-looking trainer with his perfect-looking body, and it was like something shifted inside your chest. “But you’re... you’re a trainer. I always pictured you all so—”
“Perfect?” He finished, looking up at you with a wry smile. “Yeah… that’s what everyone thinks. But the truth is, I can’t even run anymore. Can barely kick a ball without my knee giving out. Gosh, some days I wake up and have to spend like twenty minutes just trying to convince my knee to work properly.”
The words seemed to linger, weighted with an openness you hadn’t expected. Here was Harry, this beautiful, confident man, admitting to being broken, and somehow it finally made him real in a way that his encouraging words, or the professional distance he kept, never had, and that seemed to scare you.
“Is that why you became a trainer?” you asked, settling onto the bench beside him, your workout forgotten. “Because of the injury?”
He nodded, absently rubbing his knee. “Yeah… I guess in a way…I couldn’t play anymore, but I couldn’t stay away from fitness entirely… it was kind of my life, so I started learning about adaptive training, about working with bodies that don’t fit the typical mold. Turns out I’m better at helping people find their own path than I ever was at following mine.”
In that moment you wanted to say something, wanted to match the encouragement of his words, but all that came out was, “Well, that feels really fucking unfair.”
He laughed, surprised, but sincere. “Yeah, it really fucking is.”
And just like that, something changed. That professional distance he had been maintaining cracked just a little, and you saw him, not Harry the trainer, but Harry the person, a man who had his dreams ripped from under his feet, but still learned how to build new ones from the scraps.
“I should probably tell you,” he said, his voice lighter now, “this is why I modify so many exercises. It’s not just for you—half of them I can’t do the ‘proper’ way anymore. Those seated squats? I do them on my bad days, oh, and those knee-friendly lunges? Learned those during my physio.”
And fuck, there it was beating at your insides, that crush, that you had been desperately trying to ignore, suddenly felt less like a schoolgirl fantasy and more like... god dare you say it… Something else. Something deeper. Because now, when you looked at him, you didn’t just see the attractive trainer who was nice to the “fat girl”. You saw someone who maybe understood you more than you knew, who probably knew your body better, knew all the ways it betrayed you, the frustration of every limitation, and the slow, painful process of finding acceptance.
“Thank you,” you breathed, really wanting him to know you meant it. “For telling me.”
He stood to his feet then, eyes sweeping over your face, before offering you a hand up. “Come on, let’s finish your session. But maybe we’ll skip the jumping jacks today, yeah? My knee’s not the only one that needs babying.”
After that day, everything shifted, not just in your mind. Harry, of course, still maintained his professionalism, but there was a warmth now, an understanding that hadn’t existed before. Your workouts became less about pushing through pain and more about finding what worked for your body—and his.
“See, the thing about traditional training,” he explained during week five, while demonstrating a modified plank that didn’t make your wrists scream, “is that it assumes everyone’s working with the same equipment. But we’re not, are we? You’ve got your challenges, I’ve got mine… but the trick is finding what works for us.”
Us…
And, damn it was such a small word, but boy did it seem to carry weight.
That’s when you started noticing more things, like how he would ice his knee between clients, or how he would shift positions during longer demonstrations, or how his jaw would tighten on particularly bad days. But you also noticed how he never let it stop him, how he moved through it, and adapted his entire life around this limitation without a trace of self-pity.
So why couldn’t you?
“After my surgery,” he told you one day while you struggled through a stupid resistance band exercise, “I spent months being angry. Angry at my body, at the universe… I guess at everyone… everyone who could still do what I couldn’t. It took me a long time to realize that anger was just fear wearing a different face.”
“Fear of what?” you asked, breathless from exertion but curious nonetheless.
“Fear that I’d never be enough again. That, without soccer, without that, I guess that identity, I was just... nothing.” He told you, adjusting your form gently, his hands warm through your shirt. “Sound familiar?”
He had you there; it was all too familiar. Because wasn’t that exactly what you felt every time you looked in the mirror? That without the body you thought you should have, you were somehow less than? And the parallel hit you like a ton of bricks, because was this not him basically telling you that he understood, that he had been where you were, just in a different way—that maybe not all trauma was the same, but it still hurt, even when the two weren’t comparable.
“So what changed?” you asked during a water break, after you finally digested the realization, watching him absently massage his knee.
“Perspective,” he said simply. “Started focusing on what my body could do instead of what it couldn’t. Yeah, I can’t play soccer anymore, but I can help people like you find their strength. That’s not nothing, is it?”
People like you… And maybe the phrase should have stung, but the way he said it, with such an honest warmth, made it feel more like a compliment.
“You know what I love about training you?” he asked suddenly, and your heart did a stupid flutter in your chest. “You’re honest. You don’t pretend like it’s easy or fun. You show up even when you hate it. Do you know how rare that is?”
This makes you laugh, wiping sweat from your face with a towel. “Yeah, I’m a real inspiration... The girl who nearly cried doing wall sits yesterday.”
“Maybe… but you still finished them, though,” he pointed out. “That’s what matters. Not how pretty it looks or how easy it is. Just that you don’t give up.”
With perfect timing, the gym hotties made another appearance, a new group this time, but technically the same, all giggling and hair-tossing as they tried to catch Harry’s attention. One of them even “accidentally” dropped her water bottle right by where he was spotting your chest press, and for a second you held your breath, waiting for him to look, to give them the attention they were so desperate for, but he just kicked the bottle gently out of the way and kept his focus on you.
“That’s it, three more,” he encouraged, and maybe it was your imagination, but his voice seemed a little louder than necessary, like he was making a point. “You’ve got this.”
Later, as you were packing up your things, you overheard one of them complaining to her friend:
“He’s always with that girl. Like, what’s the deal? Is she paying him extra or something?”
It was one of those times you wished you could roll it off, but the words pricked at your skin, and before you could spiral into self-loathing, Harry appeared at your elbow. “Ready for the cool-down stretches?” he asked, and his hand touched your lower back, guiding you away from the women who were still whispering their gossip.
“I’ve got a new routine I want to try—it’s specifically designed for people with knee issues, but I think it’ll help with your hip flexibility too.”
People with knee issues.
Like him, like you, like your fucking body that creaked and fought you at every turn, but now what was once a negative connotation had shifted, had become a positive acknowledgment, a thing you both shared. All the modified movements, the limitations, yes, they were real, but gone was the judgment, and the monster you could make of them.
By week six, you had developed a routine. You still hated mornings, still wanted to die during cardio, but there was something else now, a sense of anticipation. Not for the workout itself, god no, but for the hour you got to spend with Harry.
A growing anticipation for the way he would light up when you managed something you couldn’t do the week before. All the terrible jokes he would tell to distract you during the dreadful planks. The way he would casually touch your arm or back—always appropriate, always professional, but still, there was something that made your skin tingle, a curious wonder that had your mind reeling.
“You’re getting stronger,” he told you one morning, watching as you completed a set of squats—real ones this time, not the shitty seated ones. “Can you feel it?”
And honestly, you could. Not just in your muscles, but in the way you carried yourself. You still had times when you tugged at your shirt, still felt your thighs rub together, but it was different now. Maybe less shameful, more just... fact. Your body was what it was, but it was capable of more than you thought.
“My knee’s been acting up this week,” Harry had admitted during a demonstration of a new exercise. Mentally, you had already noticed that it was less fluid than usual, but you didn’t say anything.
He cleared his throat, trying to hide the wince of pain, “Probably the weather change. But look—” Then, he showed you how to modify the movement, turning what should have been a jumping exercise into a step-touch pattern. “Same muscle activation, less impact. All of this to say we work with what we’ve got, yeah?”
We…
And there was something in the way he said it, like he was trying to bind you both together through all the tiny imperfections. That’s when you found yourself, starting to stay a few minutes after your sessions, helping him reset equipment or just chatting while he iced his knee. It was during one of these moments that he opened up a little more about his injury.
“The thing is… the pain wasn’t even the worst part…” he said, pressing a bag of ice into his finicky knee. “It was watching my mates continue on without me. I mean, of course, they would visit the hospital, tell me about matches, and I was grateful… really I was… and I would smile and nod, hit all my marks… but the truth was I was dying inside… Took me years to be able to watch soccer again without feeling bitter.”
“Do you still feel bitter?” you asked, organizing dumbbells to avoid looking at him directly.
“Sometimes,” he confessed. “On bad days, when my knee won’t cooperate and I see people running without thinking twice about it... Yeah, it stings. But then I remember that without this—” he gestured to his knee, “—I’d never have become a trainer. Never have met the people I’ve helped. Never have...” He paused, and when you looked up, he was staring at you with an expression you couldn’t quite read. “…Never have met you...”
You couldn’t help the heat creeping up your neck, your face burning with it, and like an idiot, you fumbled the dumbbell you were holding, completely giving yourself away. “I’m sure you say that to all your clients,” you muttered, trying to keep your voice from wobbling, but he shook his head.
“No,” he said simply. “I don’t.”
And as his words settled, the world around you seemed to pivot, the air now filling your lungs, charged with something that felt dangerously close to desire, but then someone dropped a weight plate across the gym with a thunderous clang, and the spell was broken, but you held onto that moment for as long as you could, because you felt it, felt the need beginning to ache in your bones.
But the one question that would always remain was:
Could he ever want a girl like me?
Week seven was when you nearly quit. It had been a bad week all around—work stress, family drama, and your fucking period decided to show up with a vengeance. You had barely slept, your body hurt in ways that had nothing to do with exercise, and the last thing you wanted was to squeeze into workout clothes and pretend like everything was fine, when it wasn’t.
“I’m sorry… But I don’t think I can do this today,” you told Harry the moment you walked in, not even bothering with a greeting. “I just... I can’t.” And there was shame in the way the words came out, like maybe this was your true self after all, and the rest was just an act.
He took one look at you, like, really looked at you. Not the quick bullshit assessment most people did, and nodded. “Okay. Tell me what you need?”
And his words nearly blindsided you. It wasn’t the “you have to push through” or “you’ll feel better after.” It was just a simple acceptance of where you were at, and you stood there trying to gather your words, feeling the burn at the back of your throat.
“I don’t know,” you forced, feeling tears prick at your eyes. “I’m honestly so exhausted and everything hurts, and I looked in the mirror this morning… I don’t know… it’s just been a shitty week, and I’m just not sure what the point is anymore, and—”
“Hey,” he gently interrupts, steering you toward a quieter corner of the gym. “Breathe for me, yeah? Just breathe.”
And you did, gulping in air like you were drowning, and maybe it was his hand on your low back, but gradually the panic receded just enough for embarrassment to creep in. “Sorry. I’m being dramatic.”
“You’re just being human,” he corrected. “We all have these days. Hell, I had one last week—woke up and my knee was so stiff I could barely make it down the stairs. Wanted to throw things, and cry, and give up. You know what I did instead?”
“What?”
“Called in sick and spent the day on the couch watching terrible reality TV and eating biscuits.” Your brows shot up, and he grinned. “What? You thought I was going to say I powered through with positive thinking? Fuck that. Sometimes you need to just feel what you’re feeling.”
You felt overwhelmed. His answer was so unexpected, so honest, that you found yourself laughing despite the tears. “So what should I do?” You asked, wiping at your eyes.
“Today? If you want to stay, we can modify everything. Gentle movement only, nothing that makes you want to die. We can do some stretching, maybe some light resistance work if you’re up for it. And if at any point you need to stop, we stop. No judgment, no pushing. Just listening to what your body needs.”
And thank the heavens up above, because it was by far the easiest session you had ever had, physically speaking. But emotionally? God, emotionally, it was everything. Harry had adapted every single movement to match your energy level, never once making you feel weak or pathetic for needing the modifications. Everything was intuitive, even when the gym hotties walked by and gave you pitying looks, he shifted positions to block their view, talking louder about muscle groups to draw your attention away.
“You showed up,” he said at the end, as you were doing your final stretches. “On a day when everything in you said to stay home, you showed up. That’s a huge win.”
“It feels like nothing,” you muttered, but he shook his head.
“Six weeks ago, would you have come in feeling like this?”
And as you gazed into his green eyes, you thought about it. Six weeks ago, you would have used any excuse to avoid the gym. “No… I would have stayed home.”
“Then that’s progress. Not all progress looks like smaller jeans or bigger muscles. Sometimes it looks like showing up when you don’t want to.” His hand rested on your shoulder, warm and steady. “I’m proud of you.”
His words seemed to hit you harder than any physical exercise could ever touch the surface. When was the last time someone had said that to you? When was the last time you had given someone a reason to?
By week eight, something fundamental inside you had changed. Not just in your body, though you had to admit, you were feeling stronger, more capable, but in how you existed in your skin. You still had all the same insecurities, all the same soft places and jiggly bits, but they felt less like failures now and more like... just parts of you.
Which is why, when you got dressed that morning, you reached for the new workout outfit you had bought on impulse—fitted leggings and a tank top—there would be no hiding behind excess fabric, not today. Of course, your reflection still showed everything you usually hated—the belly that refused to lie flat, the arms that continued their gentle wobble, the thighs that would always touch. But for once, you didn’t want to reach for the oversized shirt.
“Fuck it,” you told your reflection. “Let’s see what happens.”
And what happened was Harry nearly dropped his water bottle when you walked in.
“You look—” He caught himself, his professionalism snapping back into place like a rubber band. “That’s a great color on you… It really brightens up your complexion.”
And try all he wanted, but you had seen that first reaction, the way his eyes had widened, tracked over your curves before he could even remember himself. It sent a thrill through you, gave you a sense of power that had you on cloud nine.
“Thanks,” you said, trying to sound casual even as your heart hammered. “Figured I would switch things up a bit…”
“Yeah… It’s a nice change for sure,” he said quietly, and there was something in his voice that made you look at him. I mean, really take in his expression, because it said it all. “Just... for what it’s worth, you should wear whatever makes you comfortable. But this—” He gestured vaguely, carefully not looking directly at your body. “This confidence suits you.”
He had you soaring, and the workout that followed ignited a new kind of tension growing between you. Harry had always been hands-on with corrections, but now each touch felt loaded with a new possibility. When he adjusted your hip position during bridges, his fingers seemed to linger a beat too long, and fuck, when he spotted your chest press, he stood closer than strictly necessary. And when he demonstrated proper form for a new exercise, you caught him glancing at you in the mirror, checking if you were watching.
You were. You always were.
“You know,” he said during a water break, his own face flushed from a particularly intense movement, “I’ve been training people for five years, and I’ve never seen someone transform the way you have.”
“I haven’t really transformed, though,” you told him, gesturing at yourself. “I mean, I’m maybe a size smaller? If that?”
“That’s not what I mean.” Then he sat on the bench beside you, close enough that you could feel the heat radiating from his skin. “When you first walked in, you looked like you wanted to disappear. Moved like you were apologizing for taking up space. Now look at you—wearing what you want, taking up all the space you need, moving like you have a right to be here. Because you do.”
The sincerity in his voice made your throat tight. “It’s because of you,” you said quietly. “The way you teach, the way you... see me. Not as a project to fix, but as a person. Like I don’t have to fit into the mold I thought I did.”
“Fuck the mold. It’s boring,” he said, and his hand covered yours on the bench, just for a second. “Lifes too short to try and keep up with all the bullshit.”
That was when the gym hotties chose that moment to make their appearance, a trio of them this time, chest high, all sports bras a size too small, stretched across their fucking boobs with an obvious intention. You watched as the tallest one made a beeline for Harry, her trajectory as clear as a heat-seeking missile.
“Harry! I was hoping you could show me that lunge from the other day during our session… it seems to have totally slipped my mind.”
“I’m with a client, Bridgette,” Harry said, not even looking at her. His hand had left yours, but he shifted closer, his knee touching yours. “Like I tell the others, you can book a session at the front desk if you need personal instruction.”
Bridgette’s eyes flicked between you and Harry, taking in the minimal space between you, the way Harry’s body was angled toward yours like a plant seeking sun. “Right. Sure. I’ll do that.”
And just as she was about to turn to leave, she says, “Oh… and it’s Courtney, by the way…” then she stalks off, and you couldn’t help the small laugh that escaped.
“You know, I think they’re all convinced I’m either paying you extra or sleeping with you.”
Harry’s amused expression fell. “Have they been saying things to you?”
“No… no more than I expected,” you confessed. “You know how it is.. heaven forbid the chubby girl get any personal attention from the hot trainer? It’s probably not realistic in their world… and I guess in mine either… but of course, they’re going to talk.”
“You’re not—” He stopped, jaw clenched, and when he continued, his voice held a careful control. “First of all, I don’t think your chubby… if that’s what you want to call it… so fuck them. Second, you’re not just nothing. You’re a client who works harder than anyone else in this gym, who shows up even when it’s hard, who—” He cut himself off again, running a hand through his hair in frustration. “And I’m not just giving you attention because... Christ, I’m making this worse.”
“Because what?” you urged, heart racing.
He looked at you then, and for a moment, you saw past the professional mask he was trying to hold, to something real and wanting underneath. “Because it’s my job,” he said finally, but the words sounded hollow. “Come on, let’s finish your session.”
The rest of the workout passed in tense silence, both of you overly aware of every accidental touch, every shared glance in the mirror. When he helped you stretch at the end, his hands on your calf as you lay on the mat, the tension was almost unbearable, and you bit the inside of your cheek to keep yourself grounded.
“Same time Thursday?” he asked when you were gathering your things, and there was something helpless in his expression, like maybe he was afraid you might say no.
“Yeah,” you said softly. “Same time Thursday.”
As you left, you caught sight of yourself in the mirror by the exit, flushed and sweaty, curves on full display in your fitted outfit, looking like someone who belonged here. Not because your body had dramatically changed, but because maybe you were actually starting to believe you had a right to exist in places like this, exist in your own skin, like maybe it could be okay.
And just as your eyes were about to move forward, you caught sight of Harry watching you go, and the look on his face...
Yeah. You were definitely in trouble.
But for once, you didn’t want to run from it. You wanted to see where this path could take you, just as you were.
When week nine rolled around, you were back on track, your mind totally on board, and everything was going great. Even you were amazed by yourself, the way you were hitting every mark. Harry still kept a professional distance, but it wasn’t taking from the attraction you felt, now a low hum over your skin, signalling an obvious draw to him, that sent a pulse between your thighs every time his hands touched your body.
It was becoming a problem, actually. The way your body responded to him now—not just the flutter in the pit of your stomach, but it had turned into a full-body awareness every time he was near. When he corrected your form, his fingers grazing your hip or pressing against your back, you had to bite back sounds that had nothing to do with exertion. And you were pretty sure he knew it, too, from the way his jaw would tighten, the way he would step back a little quicker than necessary, like he needed the distance just as much as you.
One day, you were in the middle of box step-ups, feeling strong, feeling capable, feeling like maybe you were actually becoming the person you had wanted to be when you first walked through those doors. The fitted workout clothes were your new normal, and while your body hadn’t dramatically changed, the way you moved in it had. Confident. Taking up space. Belonging.
Because like Harry said “Fuck them all.”
“That’s it, drive through your heel,” Harry encouraged, and god, his voice when he got all instructor-mode did things to you. “Really activate those glutes.”
You were focused, you were in the zone, you were—
And then your fucking ankle rolled.
One second you were stepping down, controlled and strong, and the next you were falling, your right ankle giving way beneath you with a sickening pop that you felt more than heard. The sound that tore from your throat was raw, primal, and suddenly, you were on the ground, hands clutching at your ankle as pain shot through it like lightning.
“Fuck!” The word came out high and sharp as a sob ripped from your throat, and then Harry was there, dropping to his knees beside you, his professional calm never wavering even as his hands hovered over you, not quite touching.
“Don’t move,” he demanded, his accent thicker with urgency. “Let me see—can you wiggle your toes?”
You tried, gasping at the pain that radiated up your leg. Around you, the gym had gone quiet, and you could feel every pair of eyes turning your way. The fat girl has fallen, was all you could think, because, of course, she had. Everyone was probably thinking you couldn’t handle the exercise, probably pushed too hard, probably—
“Hey, look at me,” Harry whispered, cutting through your thoughts. His hand cupped your face, forcing you to meet his eyes. “Just me, yeah? No one else matters right now.”
But they did matter. You could hear the whispers, feel the stares, and like another betrayal, the tears of frustration burned at your eyes, already threatening to spill over. Not just from the pain—though fuck, it hurt—but from the humiliation of it all. Nine weeks of progress, nine weeks of building yourself up, and here you were, crumpled on the gym floor like every stereotype you had been fighting against.
The stares felt like the harsh truth of ‘I told you so,’ feeding that inner monologue you had been trying to suppress.
“I need to check if it’s broken,” Harry said, his hands gentle as they ghosted over your ankle. You hissed at even the lightest touch, and he pulled back immediately. “Right, we’re going to the hospital. Can you stand at all?”
“I don’t—I can’t—” The tears came then, hot and angry. “Everyone’s watching.”
“Fuck them,” Harry said fiercely, and the sharpness startled you enough to look at him. His green eyes were blazing with something protective, something furious, something lighting a fire within him. “Marcus!” he called to another trainer. “I need you to clear this area. Now.”
Then, to you, his voice softer now: “I’m going to help you up, okay? We’ll go out the back exit. Can you put your arm around my neck?”
The next few minutes were a blur of pain and movement. At that point, Harry was essentially carrying you, your weight supported against his solid frame, and for a moment, you forgot about everyone else because all you could focus on was how strong he was, how easily he held you up despite his own bad knee. When he got you to his car, he helped you into the passenger seat with a gentleness that made your chest tighten.
“I need to cancel my appointments,” he muttered, pulling out his phone as he started the car. “Sarah? Yeah, it’s Harry. Let’s go ahead and cancel the rest of my appointments for the day...”
And you listened, dazed, as he gave her instructions. “You know you don’t have to—” you started, but he cut you off with a look.
“Yes, I do. You’re hurt, and you need to get to the hospital. End of story.”
The hospital was a whirlwind of X-rays and ice packs, and doctors with cold hands. Your ankle wasn’t broken, thank goodness, but a bad sprain that would have you off your feet for at least a week, and even though the news was disheartening. There was joy in the way Harry stayed the whole time. He even held your hand during the x-ray, kept you distracted with silly stories while you waited for results, and graciously helped you fill out paperwork when your hands were shaking too much from residual adrenaline.
“You know,” you said at one point, watching him charm the nurse into bringing you an extra ice pack, “most trainers would have just called an ambulance and been done with it.”
He looked offended at the proposal. “What kind of person would I be if I did that? Besides,” his expression softened, “I needed to make sure you were okay.”
The drive to your apartment was quiet, your ankle propped up in the backseat, wrapped in an ace bandage, throbbing with every heartbeat, or sudden bump in the road. Harry had insisted on driving you home, waving off your suggestion for an Uber, and now here you were, trying not to think about how normal this all felt, him driving you home, eyes flicking to yours in the rearview mirror, every time you stared too long.
“Third floor,” you said when he pulled up to your building, and then realized what that meant. “Shit. I’m on the third floor. With no elevator.”
“We’ll manage,” Harry said, already getting out to help you.
‘Managing’ turned out to be a slow, painstaking process. Harry’s arm was around your waist, taking most of your weight, and you had never been more aware of your body—not in the usual self-conscious way, but in how it pressed against his, how his fingers splayed across your hip to hold you steady. He smelled good, inviting even. You liked this proximity, enjoyed the feel of the muscles in his shoulders working as he nearly carried you up each step.
Halfway up the second flight, his knee buckled slightly, and you both had to stop, pressed against the wall, breathing hard.
“Your knee,” you gasped, guilt flooding through you. “Harry, I’m too heavy—”
“Don’t,” he said sharply, his arm tightening around you. “Don’t do that. You’re not too anything. My knee’s just being a bastard today. We’re both a bit broken, remember? We’ll make it work.”
And you did, step by careful step, stopping when his knee was cranky, adjusting when your ankle screamed, a quiet give and take, you both seemed to be savoring, and by the time you reached your door, you were both sweating and trembling, but something about doing it together, about both of you pushing through your limitations, made it feel like a victory rather than the anguish of a struggle.
Harry helped you inside, getting you settled on the couch with your ankle elevated, and for a moment, you just looked at each other, both breathless from more than just exertion. The silence felt weighted, thick in the air, heavy with the words unspoken, and you found yourself saying, “Do you want to stay? Like hang out, I mean? I could order food or—”
“I should get back,” he said too quickly, but he looked reluctant. “I probably need to get back. Sort out the schedule for tomorrow, since I canceled on everyone today. Figure out how to rearrange things…”
That’s when reality crashed back in. Right. Of course. This was his job; you were just a client, and he had definitely already gone above and beyond. The disappointment must have shown on your face because then he quickly added, “But we’ll need to talk soon, yeah? Go over modifying your workouts for your current situation. Once you’re healed enough to come back, I mean.”
Situation…
The word like a fucking knife to your gut… “Your situation,” he said, like you were some kind of problem to be solved, a complication to work around. Just like always, too much, too difficult, too... everything, and all at once, you felt the warmth of the last few hours evaporate, leaving you exposed, foolish in the way you thought there could be more, but silly you.
“Right,” you said, your voice coming out flat. “My situation.”
Harry’s brow furrowed, clearly sensing the shift but not understanding it. “I just mean with your ankle—”
“No, I get it.” And you forced a smile that felt like plastic. “Thanks for everything today. Really. It was... above and beyond.”
He stood there for a moment, looking like he wanted to say something else. Then he reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone. “Here, let me... I don’t normally do this, but...” He seemed to be fighting with himself. “Can I give you my number? Just in case you need anything or have questions about the ankle?”
Your heart sank. He was giving you his number out of pity. Poor chubby girl who hurt herself, better make sure she doesn’t feel completely abandoned, god, it was so obvious—it was charity, wrapped up in the typical nice guy package.
“Sure,” you said, typing it into your phone with numb fingers. “Got it.”
“Text me so I have yours,” he said, and you did, sending a simple “Hi, it’s me” that felt like swallowing coals.
The awkwardness stretched between you like taffy, both of you unsure how to move the moment forward. Harry shifted his weight, favoring his good knee, clearly wanting to leave but not knowing how. “So... rest, ice, elevation. Doctor said a week minimum before trying any weight-bearing exercises. We can work with that when you’re ready.”
“Yeah, definitely.” You told him, trying to keep that plastic smile in place. “I’ll let you know.”
After he left, you sat in the growing darkness of your apartment, ankle throbbing, and did what you always did when things got too real—you retreated. But you did send him a text that night:
Y/N: I appreciate you shifting your day around. It was really kind. I’ll reach back out when I’m ready to come back. Thanks for everything.
Professional. Distant. Safe.
And his response came quickly:
H: Of course. Rest up and let me know if you need anything. We’ll get you back on track in no time.
But you didn’t reach back out. Days turned into a week, then two. Your ankle had healed, but your mind had spiraled back to old patterns. Every time you thought about the gym, you remembered falling, remembered everyone staring, remembered Harry having to literally carry you because you were too much for your own body to handle.
To your surprise, his texts came sporadically:
H: Hey, how’s the ankle?
H: Just checking in. Doctor cleared you yet?
H: We got some new equipment that I really think you’ll like. Excited to try it when you’re back.
H: Hope you’re okay. Miss having you in sessions.
That last one even made you cry, but you still didn’t respond. It was easier to ghost him than to face the humiliation of going back. Easier to order takeout and binge Netflix than to deal with the messy feelings he seemed to stir up. You had been down that road with guys like him; it never works. Always the friend but never the lover. You were stupid to think there was something there, stupid to believe you were anything more than a client he felt sorry for.
Two and a half weeks after the ankle incident, you were deep in the trenches of doubt, sucked in by yet another self-loathing pity party, when the doorbell rang, but you ignored it at first. Then it rang again, followed by a knock.
“If that’s Mrs. Gladys about the rent, it’s in the mail!” you called, not moving from your cocoon of isolation.
“It’s not Mrs. Gladys.” You froze. That accent, that voice, fuck, it was Harry at your door.
“I know you’re in there,” he continued. “I can see the TV light under the door. And... I brought Chinese.” He spoke up again.
Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck.
You hauled yourself up, catching sight of yourself in the hall mirror, and immediately regretted it. But it was too late, he already heard you moving, and it would be worse to leave him standing there, so you opened the door just a crack, trying to hide your body behind it.
“Harry, what are you doing here?”
He looked good. Of course, he looked good, in jeans and a worn tee that clung to his chest in ways that should be illegal, especially on a Tuesday night. He was holding a massive bag of takeout in one hand, and wait… were those flowers?
“I’m sorry,” he said, and the genuine worry in his eyes made your chest tight. “I know this is weird, but I wasn’t sure what I should do. You hadn’t answered any of my texts, and I was worried about you…”
“I thought it was just protocol,” you answered, your voice tight.
He shifted, looking uncomfortable. “Well, I mean I was asking from a trainer’s point of view, yes, but I was hoping that it would come across as... I don’t know... more?”
“More? What do you mean?” You asked, cracking the door open a bit more.
“I thought when I gave you my number, you were catching the vibe that I was trying to put out...” He laughed, looking down at his feet, and the bashfulness was so startling on him that you almost forgot to breathe as a strand of hair fell loose. “What I’m saying is I thought there was a vibe between us?”
“Mmm,” was all you could manage, stunned. “A vibe?”
“Honestly, I thought you gave everyone your number?”
This made him laugh, looking back up at you with those heartwrenching green eyes, and fucking hell, those dimples. “No, trust me, I’ve learned my lesson with that one... Have you seen some of those ladies at the gym? A little persistent, yeah? Trust me, they’re not my type. I’m not interested.”
“I see...” You were mesmerized. This guy, this gorgeous, sweet, amazing guy, was standing at your door with flowers and food, talking about vibes.
“I can go, though... if this is too weird... but I’d hate to eat all this Chinese takeaway by myself,” he said, holding up the bag, and it did indeed look like enough to feed a small country, and it took everything in you not to make a fat joke, but something in his expression stopped you.
He was nervous. Harry was nervous.
“No. Please... come in... I never pass up... what did you call it? Chinese takeaway...”
When he came in, you shut the door and immediately examined the bag. The smell was incredible, and your stomach reminded you that depression meals of cereal and toast weren’t actually sustaining.
“I do think you bought enough to feed a small army, though...”
“I wasn’t sure what you liked, so I ordered a little of everything...”
This got a laugh out of you, the first real laugh in weeks. “Well, lucky you, I like everything... You don’t get curves like these being a picky eater...”
“I see...” He said with a sexy smirk, that had you giddy as his eyes roamed your body with the same heated look you had seen that day in the gym mirror. He wasn’t hiding it now, wasn’t trying to be professional. He was just a man, looking at you like you were something to devour, pajamas and all.
“Yeah... there was definitely a vibe...” You teased, narrowing your eyes at him while taking the flowers from his hands and bringing them to your nose. They were simple, but the gesture made your heart flip.
“I’ll put these in water...” And as you moved toward the kitchen, you felt his eyes following you, suddenly aware of how small your apartment felt with him in it.
The energy you guys had been dulling in the past was present, making itself known as it filled the space. Now you had a new hunger growing in your belly that had nothing to do with Chinese food and everything to do with the way Harry was looking at you like you were the only thing in the room worth seeing.
Fuck it you thought, and you set the flowers down in the sink for later, “I’m not usually this forward… but I’ve been dying to kiss you?” you asked pressing your back against the sink, and you said the words with an air of confidence that seemed to flee the second your eyes found his. Sending you right back to that place of self-doubt.
Harry didn’t answer, and you watched as he silently pushed himself away from the counter and closed the small space between you.
It felt like every movement slowed, every breath hollow, as if the sight of him before you was a figment of your imagination, and you couldn’t quite bring your eyes to meet his, not yet. You just stared at his broad chest, his strong stature like stone before your gaze, unmoving except for the slow rise and fall of his breath, like maybe he was waiting for you to make the move.
But it was something about the way he stood there, that same gentle patience he had exuded all along. It was devastating, the kindness now an ache that deepened inside you, the second you pressed your palm flat to the center of his chest.
Yet his stillness remained as you felt the warmth of his body, the beating of his heart, but you still couldn’t look, because here was the fear telling you that you couldn’t have it, that you weren’t worthy, that this wasn’t real, but god he was real, and the breath that left his body was real.
And it hurt, and you were scared, and when his hand moved to yours, pressing your palm into his chest, you felt yourself breaking. Then you braved a look, your eyes finding his, and it was like something cracked within you, a well of every insecurity you had ever had, came spilling from your chest with a gasp, as a sob rose, and it wasn’t even him that you were crying about.
It was everything, all at once, it was you, it was him, it was the broken girl inside you, crying to be healed, to be wanted, to be needed, to be loved, because you wanted to be loved, you wanted to be seen, you wanted someone to love you the way you deserved. You had always had so much love to give, but no one who could reciprocate, the world always taking, but never giving back.
Then his hand was cupping your face, his eyes on your mouth, and the second his lips pressed to yours, delicate and soft, he drew in a deep breath, like you were the air he needed to fill his lungs with, like suddenly here you were, and as your mouths begin to move, the chatter in your head began to fade away.
As the kiss deepened, hands roaming, you felt yourself letting go, slipping to a place of peace, to a place you had only ever felt with him, to those times when he had you in a room full of people, yet the world always seemed to narrow to just the two of you. This was that moment, a universe that belonged to you and Harry.
And for the first time, maybe ever in your life, you allowed yourself to just exist.
When you pulled away, your eyes met, making a silent exchange, and you grabbed his hand with a slow nod, ready to make sacred what you felt in your heart, give him the pieces that he had made whole with the kindness of his spirit. You wanted to give yourself in the only way you knew how to convey what words couldn’t say.
And when he laid you down on the bed, he was gentle, hands moving over your curves like they were the most sacred gift you could give, and maybe they were in that moment, and when he kissed your lips, you felt the passion and the need in the delicate balance of his control. It felt safe. Harry was taking his time to explore the plains of your body, no rush, just a tender embrace that had tears streaming down your face.
“Is this okay?” he whispered against your skin, and the care in his voice made your chest tight. Always checking, always making sure, like you were the most beloved artifact, instead of too much.
You nodded, but your hands were already moving to guide his away from your stomach, that soft place you had spent years hating, years hiding. He noticed, you knew he would, and he paused, his green eyes searching yours in the dim light of your bedroom.
“Talk to me,” he said softly, his hand stilling on your hips. “What’s going through that beautiful mind?”
“I just...” You said, turning away, and the look in his eyes was too much for the shame pricking at your skin. It wasn’t like you hadn’t had sex before, but there had never been this level of positive vulnerability on both parts. The feeling reminded you of your first time, and maybe almost every time, actually.
The good times, few and far between.
Yes, the fear was there, and so was the desperation, but that was the part you didn’t want to be there. You didn’t want that desperate feeling of doing, just to feel wanted. You knew this wasn’t the case now, but it was hard to shake that pattern of thinking when this was the only relationship you had to sex. “You’ve probably been with so many girls who are... who look...” And the words stuck in your throat.
Skinny. Fit. Perfect. Everything you weren’t.
“Hey.” His finger gently turned your chin back to him. “I’m here with you. Only you. And I’ve wanted to be here, exactly here, for weeks.”
But when his hand moved again, you caught it, redirecting it away from your middle, and this time he didn’t let you. Instead, he slowly lowered down your body, holding your eyes as he did, and before you could stop him, his lips were pressing against the soft flesh of your stomach, right where you were trying to hide.
“Harry—”
But he was already kissing every inch, every delicate place, every roll and curve you had spent years despising, and as he continued, your body trembled with sobs beneath his lips, overwhelmed by the adoration in his touch.
“God,” he breathed against your skin, “Every inch of you is beautiful. I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
And just when you thought you couldn’t break anymore, here was another wall crumbling, and when he moved back up to kiss you, you could taste the mingling of your tears on his lips now, salt and beauty, a messy mix of his devotion and time.
“Can we just...” you start, then stop, embarrassed by what you wanted to ask. This was the part you wanted to skip, the lead up, you didn’t think you were strong enough for it, not right now, not in this moment, not when you were barely hanging by a thread, your emotions everywhere.
“What do you need?” He pulled back slightly, studying your face. “Tell me.”
“Can we just... be together? I want to feel you, to kiss you. Is that okay? I don’t need...” You gestured vaguely over your body, unable to say the words.
Then you watched as understanding dawned in his eyes. “If that’s what you want,” he said, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “But… hopefully you’ll let me take care of you another time—”
“Another time?” You repeated, a little too excited, because god, the hope in your voice was already embarrassing.
He smiled, that dimpled smile that had you out of your mind from the beginning. “Yeah, love, there’s no way this is a one-time act. I’m already hooked. You have me completely. Trust me.”
That was all you needed, because then you were reaching with a shaky hand to your nightstand, pulling out the condom you had optimistically kept there. He took it from your trembling fingers, and the care he took with everything—with you—made fresh tears spring to your eyes.
And it was like a light switch flipping on in your brain when he pushed inside you, like something waking. At first, you weren’t sure what to do, whether you should just lie there, and let him lead like you had usually done in the past with others, or if you should use your words. But everything in you wanted to take some kind of control, to show him that you weren’t just passive, that you could give as good as you got.
The feeling built slowly, his hands mapping your body like he was trying to memorize every curve, every response. And just as you felt yourself getting close, that familiar tightening, a surge of confidence unlike anything you had ever felt before, flooded through you like a line of fire.
That’s when you pushed your hands into his shoulders, trying to be smooth about the move, hoping he would get the hint, but then he stopped without hesitation, concern flashing across his face. “Do you want me to—”
But you were already moving, pushing him onto his back and climbing on top, not giving a fuck that your stomach was visible, or that your boobs would bounce, that hell, maybe everything would jiggle, but for once, you didn’t care, because the way he was looking at you, like the fucking goddess you were and felt, was everything. It made you feel powerful, turning what was already pleasure into a feast that fed the famished hunger within.
“Fuck,” he breathed, his hands gripping at the flesh of your hips, as he bucked up to meet you, and the awe in his voice was already pushing you to the edge. It didn’t take long until you came hard, crumbling forward, and his arms wrapped around you immediately, holding you tight against his chest as he followed you over.
Even though you were aware of everything, all the flaws, all the thoughts, the way your body felt pressed against his, you stayed like that for a long moment, giving your body time to meld with his, no matter how uncomfortable it was or if you felt like your body would crush him. You wanted to be with this man in every way, maybe even savor the way his hands still moved up and down your body, caressing over every curve as both of you caught your breath. When you finally lifted your head, he was looking at you with such tenderness, such wonderment that it made your chest ache.
“You’re incredible,” he said, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear. “Absolutely incredible.”
Later, after he had cleaned you both up with a warm washcloth, yes, you let him, because he insisted on taking care of you despite any objections, and damn he was a sweet talker, you knew you couldn’t resist the power of his words. Because you knew he meant them. Afterward, when you lay curled against his chest, his bad knee elevated on a pillow, and you with all your insecurities knocking at your mind’s door. You knew in that moment that you were two broken people, but even two broken halves can make something whole together, and that was the devastating truth you held onto.
And as you drifted off to sleep, his arms around you, his heartbeat steady under your ear, you thought maybe the universe was finally giving you something good, giving you someone who saw you, saw the real you, not just as a project to fix or some kind of problem to solve, but as someone worth loving, exactly as you were.
You knew the journey to confidence wasn’t over. You knew that you would still have your bad days, still struggle with mirrors and fitted clothes, and that fucking voice in your head that said you were never enough. But for now, you had someone who wanted to be there for those days, too, someone you knew would remind you of your worth when you forgot it yourself.
Someone who would love every inch of you, especially the parts you’ve allowed yourself to hate. Someone who made you believe that maybe, just maybe, you deserved to take up space in this world—and in his heart.
And that was worth more than any number on a scale could ever be.

pick a pile: what makes people's hearts flutter around you

thank you so much for the love on the previous reading!! i was so happy to see that so many of you enjoyed it. i hope that this one resonates too. once again, it is a general reading. only take what applies, leave the rest and please forgive any grammatical or spelling errors xx
pile 1 ˚. ✦.˳·˖✶ ⋆.✧̣̇˚.
(judgement, ace of pentacles, queen of pentacles, page of pentacles, page of wands)
there's just something intimidating about you pile one (you may or may not have a resting b-face) but there's also something about you that makes people want to impress you. whatever way you express your dissatisfaction- whether it's the way you curl your lips in distaste or scrunch your eyebrows- it sets people on edge. it makes them nervous but also very eager to please you.
you could come from a well to do family, like a long line or surgeons, etc. (if not, that's the vibes you give) or even if it's not wealth, it feels like you come from a very reputed family.
but regardless of your family, you have built have a very good reputation for yourself amongst your peers. your work ethic is also very good- you put your head down and get to work, and even that makes people's hearts flutter sometimes. you elicit awe and admiration quite easily.
capable. that's the energy i'm getting from this pile. someone capable who wants to work hard, who wants money, who wants status, who wants recognition. majority of the people from this pile are the go-getters, the type to want to work in student body councils or win a lot of trophies (i'm getting more academic/corporate achievement than sporty though).
there's also another section of people who picked this pile who wouldn't necessarily call themselves hard-working, they'd prefer to call themselves lazy even but regardless of how you label yourself, you just breeze through your work anyway. in the eyes of others, it looks effortless. the people around you take one look at you and just know you're going to achieve great things with your career
regardless of all this admiration, i don't think you're friends with many people. there may only be a few in your inner circle. there's something about other people wanting to be a part of your personal life so bad. i'm seeing this image someone who randomly posts a Instagram story of them surfing and the people viewing it are so shocked ("pile two surfs? i never knew that about them. that's so cool!") they're intrigued by you and want to know you better but you don't let people that close easily. you might just have really strict work-life boundaries and are very particular about who in your life gets to see how much about you.
and because of who you are, what you've accomplished and how you carry yourself, your approval means something to the people around you, especially if it's something you don't dole out to just anyone.
your approval; that's what gets their heart fluttering-- a nod from you when they show you what they've done, a pat on the back, a smile on your lips as you give praise, even if it's off-handed, it gives them something to feel good about for the rest of the day.
pile 2 ˚. ✦.˳·˖✶ ⋆.✧̣̇˚.
(chariot, 8 of pentacles , ace of cups, seven of swords, ten of pentacles) (oh my god 😭 who are you peopleeee. i would not be surprised if multiple people were crushing on this pile.)
pile 2, you're popular and you definitely know it to some extent too. this pile is a bit similar to pile 1 in some ways but still vastly different you could have lot of admirers and people who want to get close to you and i do see you engaging with these people, because you do enjoy the attention (nothing wrong with that), but i also get the feeling you're very controlling and picky over your image and how you come off to people. even while trying to channel the messages for this pile, the energy feels a bit reserved and doesn't want to give me too much.
there's one particular thing you could be known for, some sort of craft you've worked hard at or you're really talented at. this could be something like dance or music but that's where most of your popularity comes from. you have a good network of friends and people who you can pass time with.
i'm ngl, lowkey getting some player energy from this pile but not necessarily in the bad way. it's just some of you are aware of effect you have, and you have fun teasing people, toying with them, making them blush. oh, pile 2 you like making people's hearts flutter, you do it on purpose. you like knowing that you have the power to make people flustered.
what makes people's heart flutter is the rush they get when your eyes meet, the flirtatious lilt in your voice, maybe a smirk on your lips as you tease them in a very nonchalant manner, when you say something and playfully tell them that it's a secret only the two of you will know, when you make them feel like they are the sole focus of your attention. heart are fluttering left and right because of you.
i don't know if this pile will resonate with a lot of people or if the things mentioned here are too specific, but bottom line is that there's a very flirtatious and seductive vibe to your energy. you guys might be bored the majority of the time but man, when you're interested in someone, you tease and play with them until you get a reaction. even if you're not like this currently, you have great potential at charming people my pile twos.
pile 3 ˚ . ✦.˳·˖✶ ⋆.✧̣̇˚.
( 6 of cups, the empress, nine of pentacles, eight of pentacles, temperance rev)
pile 3, are you really uncomfortable with being perceived by any chance? i had the most difficult time channeling the energy of the people who chose this pile out of all three piles. i think you keep to yourself for most of the time but there's also this adorable energy around you, like that of a cat that just puts its head down and sleeps whenever it gets the chance to.
you could not like attention and maybe most of your days, you put your head down and focus on getting through. that's not to say you have a sad life. maybe you're not where you want to be yet, but you do have hobbies, things you enjoy and to pass the time with.
there's something casually cool about you. i cannot say what it is exactly since it's different for each of the people who pick this pile, but something about the way someone gets their drink from the vending machine? for someone, it's the way they hop over a gate. you have these tiny particular habits and methods of doing things that catch some people's attention without even knowing it.
i think it's your affection that makes people's hearts flutter.
this is giving me the energy of that one type of male lead/character (i'm just talking about the vibe, this could apply to you regardless of your gender) in anime that slacks off all the time but will randomly say something observant or serious that will have your heart skipping a beat. it's very endearing, i feel like you're very laid-back but still very straightforward and blunt with your affection. you'll say something simple but it'll be so earnest and the most romantic thing ever in the moment; it would exactly the thing the other person would happen to need to hear.
and it's not even intentional for most of you, it just comes naturally.
AHHH pile 3s, i get the feeling most of you don't think very highly about your work or aren't very comfortable with yourself but you should know that you're inherently a very chill and cool person. you aren't nearly as embarrassing as you think you are. be proud of your existence please!! and take up more space!!!
what makes people's hearts flutter around you aren't big gestures or big speeches, but it's just simply you in the rawest form possible. maybe it's you holding a cold soda can to someone's cheek and murmuring something that was just on your mind; a silly joke, a comment about a look on their face. it's your nonchalant affection that arrives so silently yet reassuringly steady every time. it's the way you unknowingly make the weight of the world lighter for others, even if just for a second.
this pile gives me maomao vibes? i haven't seen ad yet, just clips and edits but the way she just puts her head down and dgaf about anything except posion/her own thing and she's just inherently endearing and people adore her??? that's your vibe pile 3!!! also this is the second time anime has been referenced, so maybe that's a sign for some of yall
i love how much you can customise your tumblr post but the gradient text is just too stressful for me to do more than twice in one post lol. do let me know which pile you picked and on how it resonated!! in all honesty, i'm a bit nervous about it since i feel like i went too specific so i hope it still resonates with people.

My Masterlist ___
Smoke watched from the living room as Annie bustled around the house making sure everything was just right. The kitchen. The powder room. The cellar which nobody would see. Everything needed to be just right.
The roast was in the oven. Table set. Wine poured. Annie stood at the counter, smoothing her hands down the front of her apron, then across the napkins again, though they didn’t need fixing.
“Can y’all just be civil? Please?” she said without turning. “For me. I just want to have a nice dinner tonight. As a family.”
She used that word a lot. Family. Said it like a prayer, a promise. Like saying it out loud might turn it true.
The boys knew better.
Stack was leaning against the archway, a little too relaxed, wine already heavy in his hand.
“I’m always civil,” he grinned. “I’m a delight.”
Smoke didn’t say anything at first. Just sat back at the table, stiff as iron, nursing a glass of whisky like medicine. He’d need it tonight. They both would.
“I ain’t lying to nobody,” he muttered, low.
Annie sighed. Not because she disagreed — but because she understood.
They weren’t happy about this. Never had been. Melody had a way of turning Annie into someone else — smaller, unsure. And the boys hated that. Hated watching the bold, beautiful woman they loved contort herself to keep the peace. To keep her peace.
So when Annie told them that Melody was gonna be in town and wanted to visit, the news wasn’t met with enthusiasm. When they protested she had shut them down, said that special word — family — and the boys knew they didn’t have a chance at dissuading her.
She laid down the final plate and crossed the kitchen, wiping her hands on a towel that didn’t need cleaning. Her shoulders were tight. Her smile too practiced.
Melody was Annie’s half-sister. Same father, different everything else. Product of an affair that tore Annie’s whole world sideways and maybe even took her mother to the grave.
She was pretty, and soft-spoken when it served her. But she had a way of reaching back into Annie’s life like she had a claim to it. Like their shared blood gave her a right to rewrite things. Rewrite her.
Melody said things like they’d grown up hand-in-hand. Like Annie hadn’t spent her real childhood alone, and Melody hadn’t moved in only after her world fell apart.
She touched too casually. Said too much. Knew too little.
And yet… Annie kept trying. Trying to stitch something together out of all the scraps they’d been handed. Trying to make a family out of splinters.
There was a knock at the door.
The roast was carved. Greens passed. Biscuits buttered and cooling fast.
On the surface, everything looked like a proper supper. But Smoke hadn’t touched much of his food, and Stack had started drinking like the only way through the night was to float on top of it.
Melody leaned back in her chair, swirling her glass like she had something wise to say. Her gaze landed on the cornbread.
“Reminds me of when Mama used to burn the bottoms,” she said with a giggle. “She’d scrape off the black parts with a knife and pretend it was on purpose. Said it ‘kept you humble.’”
Annie’s fork paused mid-air.
Stack didn’t look up, but his mouth twitched.
“You remember that, don’t you?” Melody added, too quick. “That little yellow-handled knife she used for everything?”
Annie swallowed. Set her fork down quiet.
“She wasn’t my mama.”
Melody blinked, like she hadn’t expected that to sting.
“Well—no, obviously,” she said, waving a hand like it was silly to be so exact. “I just meant… your most recent mama. I mean, she was in the house.”
“She was in the house,” Annie said evenly.
Melody laughed, high and a little breathless, like she could laugh her way out of what just happened.
“Well,” she said, putting her glass down, “family’s funny like that, huh?” She added before placing a hand on Annie’s forearm.
Smoke’s eyes followed the movement with precision.
“So,” Melody said brightly, trying to start a conversation “y’all ever thought about kids?”
The question hung there, syrupy sweet with expectation.
Annie blinked. “We— We’ll know when we’re ready.”
Melody’s husband Frank leaned back in his chair, clearly enjoying the show.
The man chuckled, low and grating. “Ain’t it about time though? Clock don’t wait forever. ‘Specially for women.”
Smoke’s knuckles tightened around his fork.
“I gotta admit,” he said, folding his arms over his chest, “I didn’t know what to expect, comin’ out here. Lotta stories floatin’ ‘round town.”
Stack’s eyes flicked up from his plate. Smoke didn’t move.
“Oh yeah?” Annie said, keeping her voice polite. “And what kinda stories are those?”
The man shrugged, like he was being reasonable.
“Just… folks wondering how something like this works. Three people under one roof. Two men sharin’ a woman —brothers at that. Sounds more like trouble than a marriage.”
Smoke still didn’t look up. But Annie could feel the shift. Like pressure building under floorboards.
“I mean, hell. Where I’m from, we call that a love triangle, not a household.”
Annie opened her mouth, but Stack beat her to it — voice easy, even playful.
“Well lucky for us, you ain’t from here.”
Melody gave her husband a look — the kind that meant you’re doin’ too much — but he didn’t seem to notice.
“I just think kids need structure,” he said, “Two fathers under one roof? That’s confusion, not discipline.”
Now Smoke looked up. Real slow.
“You do a lot of childrearing yourself?” he asked.
The man blinked. “Beg your pardon?”
“You talkin’ like you got a full house somewhere. How many you got?” the man had a menacing smile plastered on his face.
“…None yet.”
“Then hush.”
The man frowned. Then Frank reached across the table — not for the biscuits, not for the salt. For the gravy boat.
But instead of asking, he leaned in close, placing a steadying hand on Annie’s shoulder as he reached.
His thumb brushed against the strap of her dress.
Too familiar. Too firm.
“’Scuse me, darlin’,” he said, casual like he did it all the time.
It wasn’t the touch — it was the way he didn’t rush to remove it.
Smoke saw it. So did Stack.
And Annie flinched — just slightly — but enough to be noticed.
That should’ve been enough. But Melody’s hand went out — again — brushing Annie’s arm like they were girls sharing secrets instead of strangers dressed in matching last names.
"Mama used to say, ‘Ain’t no shame in wantin’ a real man.’ Guess you took that to heart, huh, sis? You went and got yourself two!"
Annie winced once more. It was soft, but Smoke saw it. And that was the last straw.
Smoke set his glass down. Quiet. Too quiet.
“You need to stop touchin’ her so casually.” he said pointing at the woman.
Melody’s hand stilled against Annie’s arm. Her smile wavered.
“Excuse me?”
“Smoke,” Annie said quickly, trying to smile, trying to control the room. “It’s fine.”
He didn’t blink. “It ain’t.”
Stack leaned forward slightly, eyes narrowed but not joking anymore. “He’s right. You don’t know her like that. You ain’t earned the right.”
Melody’s brows arched, scandalized.
Annie stepped in faster this time, voice low but firm.
“Enough.”
She turned toward Smoke, hand light on his shoulder. His muscles were rigid beneath her palm.
“She’s family,” she said softly. “Let’s not do this right now.”
Stack leaned back, sucked his teeth, clearly biting something back. Smoke didn’t move at all.
“She ain’t family to me,” Smoke muttered.
“She is to me,” Annie snapped. “And that should be enough.”
That silenced the table — just long enough for Melody’s husband to break it again.
“Well,” he said, with a smirk, “nice to see someone wearing the pants in this house.”
Stack’s jaw tightened.
“Stack,” Annie warned, before he could speak.
He didn’t. But the damage was done.
Melody giggled, smoothing her napkin on her lap like nothing had happened.
Annie went to gather the plates.
“Dinner’s done,” she said. “Why don’t we move to the sitting room? I’ll bring coffee.”
She didn’t look at Smoke. Didn’t look at Stack either. She just carried the dishes to the kitchen, heart pounding, wishing it all felt less like a lie.
_
The front door clicked shut.
Silence.
Not the quiet kind, but the loaded kind. The kind that rattled inside your chest and made your ears ring.
Annie stood in the middle of the room, arms crossed tight, like she was bracing for impact.
Smoke’s jaw flexed. Stack didn’t move.
For a beat, nobody breathed.
Annie exhaled, hard. “Don’t start.”
“I ain’t startin’. I’m finishin’. The hell was that?” Smoke’s voice cut through the kitchen.
She turned, dish towel clenched tight in her hands. “What was what, Smoke?”
“You told me to stand down. You just about told Stack to shut up. While they sat at our table, runnin’ they mouths and touchin’ you like they know you.”
“They’re family.”
“No,” he snapped. “They’re not. That man disrespected you. And her? She touched you like she’s the one that tucks you in at night.”
“Stop it.”
Stack stepped in carefully, voice low. “She made you flinch, baby. We saw it. You don’t flinch with us.”
Annie bit her lip. Hard.
“I just wanted one peaceful night. I didn’t want a scene.”
“You wanted peace—so you offered us up like sacrificial lambs,” Smoke said, voice growing sharp.
“That ain’t fair.”
“No? You let her talk like y’all shared a childhood. Let that man spit on our marriage with a smile. Then told me to hush?”
“You think I don’t know who she is?” Annie’s voice cracked “I lived with her. She slept in my mama’s bed two weeks after she was buried. She was Daddy’s second chance and my reminder that I’d already lost.”
Her eyes glistened, but she didn’t cry.
“I was just trying to keep the damn evening from fallin’ apart. You think I liked it? You think I didn’t hear every little dig, every look, every word?”
“Then why the hell ain’t you say somethin’?” Stack asked.
“Because I’m tired!” she shouted. “Tired of everything bein’ a fight. Tired of defendin’ my choices, my house, my men. I just wanted a quiet dinner!”
Smoke’s voice dropped cold. “Then don’t invite people who only show up to remind you that you alone.”
Annie’s shoulders pulled back like he’d struck her.
“Alone?”
“You got us. But when they’re here, you act like you don’t.”
The room felt smaller. Angrier. Like the walls were listening.
“I ain’t the one you should be mad at, Annie,” Smoke said.
“No. You’re just the one who wants to be mad for me.” Annie didn’t look at him.
He leaned back. Only slightly. But Stack caught it. Smoke prided himself on taking care of his family. He’d be the bad guy if it meant that they were ok. So for Annie to throw that in his face? It was low.
Annie turned on him. “What? Go on then. Call me out my name. You been waitin’ all night.”
“I been waitin’ for you to stop pretendin’ you owe that woman somethin’. Stop shrinkin’ yourself so she can feel taller.”
“And I been waitin’ for you to realize the world don’t revolve around your damn temper!”
“Y’all—” Stack tried.
“Elias, stay out of it.” She pointed at him.
That did it. Stack’s hands dropped. He stepped back, mouth flat.
Smoke’s voice turned dangerously soft. “You tellin’ him to stay out, but you let them strangers walk right in and put hands on what’s mine?”
Annie’s nostrils flared. She stepped in close.
“Don’t talk to me about ownership. I’m not some bitch you can pull by the leash when I embarrass you.”
Stacks head whipped around. Shock coloured his face.
“Annie. Don’t,” Stack warned softly — they didn’t talk like this to each other.
Smoke’s voice dropped low and clipped. “You gon’ wanna be real careful with me right now, woman.”
“Or what?” Annie challenged. “You gon’ bark louder? Show me why everybody outside scared of you?”
He stepped forward. Stack moved fast, blocking him.
“Enough.” Stack said. “We don’t do this shit. This ain’t us.”
“No,” Annie said. “This is exactly who we are. Pretendin’ this ain’t built on shaky ground.”
Looked like Frank’s words had planted a seed.
Stack moved like she’d slapped him.
“You think it’s shaky?” Smoke’s voice shook. “You think we ain’t holdin’ you up every day? Lovin’ you, buildin’ you back from the goddamn inside?”
His voice cracked — just slightly.
“I would burn this house down to protect you,” he said, softer now. “And you out here handin’ matches to people who never cared whether you froze.”
“She disrespected you, Annie,” Stack said, voice stiff. “Right to your face. And you smiled through it. Made us smile through it too.”
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Annie laughed bitterly. “Was I supposed to let y’all growl and swing your dicks like dogs markin’ a tree?”
“Watch your mouth,” Smoke said slowly.
“No—you watch yours. I let you bark, posture. The minute I asked you to sit like a man, you sulked like a whipped boy.”
There it was. The heat. The disrespect.
“Annie…” Stack said, quiet, alarmed.
“I’ll beat the breaks off a nigga for touchin’ you,” Smoke said. “You lucky I didn’t.”
“Elijah—they’re family.” she tried to plead.
“So you gotta put up with disrespect?”
Annie threw her hands up, all syrup and sass. “The Moores got morals tonight!”
Stack cursed under his breath. Smoke went still as death.
“Fix them lips to say somethin’ crazy again, Annie,” Smoke warned. “See if I don’t remind you why you call me daddy.”
She tilted her head. “You sassin’?”
“C’mon now y’all…” Stack said half-terrified.
Smoke stepped closer, his voice dropping into something dark and dangerous. “It’s gon’ be real hard to take you serious if you got my seed drippin’ from your hole. Test me.”
Annie’s throat bobbed. She was gonna take that bait.
“Do not,” Stack said, sharp and urgent.
Too late.
“Annie’s sorry — ain’t ya, baby?” he tried, reaching for a lifeline.
“The hell I am,” she snapped.
“Don’t be a hero,” Stack warned, tension threading through his voice. “He gon’ turn you out, and I’ma join him.”
Annie looked at him, eyes glittering. Daring them both.
Smoke started up once more, “We’ll paint your insides white just how you like it. Remind you you the property of the Moores — no one else’s.”
“Property? That’s what I am to you?” she shot back. “A place to plant your damn flag?”
He shrugged. “You said it, not me.”
“I ain’t land. You don’t own me.”
“You act like disrespectin’ us is rent you pay,” he shot back, voice cold.
That line came from somewhere deep — deeper than Smoke usually let show.
“If I’m so damn disrespectful,” Annie stepped in close, venom curling her words, “why you still crawlin’ back to this disrespectful pussy every night?”
Stack looked away. Smoke didn’t blink.
“That’s right,” she pressed. “You talk all this mine mine mine shit, but you only feel like a man when I’m on my knees, beggin’ for it.”
“Fix them lips, woman,” he said, low and mean.
“What? You don’t like it when I talk back? Only like me with your dick down my throat?”
“It make a fine picture.” Stack muttered from the side.
“I like it when you remember who’s keepin’ you safe. Lovin’ you every goddamn day while you spit in our faces.” Smoke reasoned.
“I’m done talking to you.” she spoke lowly.
“C’mon now,” Smoke said, voice soft and twisted. “Say somethin’ real filthy. You good at that when your jaw’s slack and your legs spread.”
“Smoke,” Stack snapped. “You know what you doin’. Stop provokin’ her.”
“Nah,” Smoke said without even looking at him. “She a big girl. She can take whatever daddy dish out, right?”
Stack stepped in. “It ain’t fair, Smoke. You know it ain’t fair.”
Smoke paused. Just a second. There were two of them. One of her. It was unbalanced. Always would be.
He sighed, started to lift a hand — maybe to apologize.
But he didn’t get the chance.
Annie spat in his face.
It hit his cheek and stuck.
For one sharp breath, nobody moved.
Annie stood perfectly still, chest rising hard. Her jaw clenched, eyes shining—not with tears, but with fury. She didn’t flinch. Didn’t look away.
Then Smoke cracked.
Stack caught him hard at the chest, shoving him back.
“Don’t.”
Smoke went still.
The spit clung to his cheek, hot and humiliating. He didn’t wipe it. Just stared — right at her.
Annie’s hands curled into fists at her sides. Her spine was stiff, posture defiant. But there was something flickering in her eyes now.
“I wanna fuck that disrespect right outta her,” he muttered, voice low and rough.
He stepped toward her — not to strike, but to claim, to punish her with the only kind of control he knew wouldn’t break her.
Annie’s breath caught. Just barely.
Stack stepped in fast — arm out, body angled between them.
“And we don’t do things that way,” he snapped, sharp and firm.
Their eyes locked. For a long, brittle second, it felt like something might break.
“You want her like that? Broken?” Stack asked his brother.
The picture he painted with that statement stung.
He didn’t want her like that. Giving in because she didn’t have a choice. Because he “bested” her.
He wanted it offered to him, because she felt like he deserved it. He didn’t wanna take it.
“You keep pushin’, you gon’ scare her,” Stack said, quieter now. “And she don’t deserve that from you.”
That stopped him.
Smoke’s jaw ticked hard, and he deflated.
Behind Stack, Annie was still frozen in place—arms locked at her sides, as if afraid any movement might shatter the silence.
“Take a walk,” Stack added. “Right now. Before you say somethin’ you can’t unsay.”
Smoke didn’t move.
“I got her,” Stack said, gentler now. “You… go cool off.”
Finally, Smoke blinked. Swallowed. His eyes never left Annie.
“You make sure she’s okay,” he said, hoarse.
“I got her.”
Then he turned and walked out — quiet, controlled, like a storm bottled in a man.
Annie stood frozen.
Then sat — slow and stiff — like someone letting herself fall without a net.
Stack stayed standing, chest heaving like he’d just run a race.
“You alright?” he asked quietly.
She didn’t answer.
He dropped to a knee beside her.
“He lost his temper. He shouldn’t’ve. You know that.”
She nodded — barely.
“I made him,” she said.
“No,” Stack replied. “You matched him. That’s different.”
A beat passed. He reached for her hand.
“You still ours,” he said. “Ain’t nothin’ shifted in that.”
She squeezed once.
“He didn’t even flinch,” she whispered. “But his eyes… they changed.”
Stack squeezed her hand. “He was mad. That don’t mean he stopped carin’.”
“He’s scared. Same as you,” Stack said. “That’s what it is—fear dressed up as fire.”
She exhaled hard, like she’d been holding her breath for hours.
“I didn’t mean to—”
“You meant it,” he cut in gently but firm. “Don’t lie to me.”
That shut her up. Her mouth pressed into a hard line.
“You meant it,” Stack said again, softer this time, “and that’s what’s eatin’ him up.”
Silence fell between them. Heavy. Thick with things they couldn’t take back.
She looked toward the door, then back at Stack.
“You mad at me too?”
He sighed. “Don’t matter what I’m feelin’. You’re my wife. My family. I stand with you—even when I don’t like how it went down.”
“I’m sorry, Stack,” she whispered.
He gave a small shrug. “Don’t be sorry. Be sure.”
Then he stood and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. Her eyes fluttered closed at the touch.
“I'm gon’ fix my plate again,” he murmured. “If I don’t eat, I get mean.”
That earned him the smallest laugh. But it was what he needed to hear. Enough to know she was still with him.
“I set aside your favourite,” she murmured, voice rough but soft. “Kept it warm in the oven… in that little dish with the blue trim. Knew you’d want a snack later.”
He paused, and his eyes flicked to hers — just for a second. That did something to him.
“Always lookin’ out,” he said, almost to himself.
Then, quieter: “Love you, baby.”
One more kiss to her head. Then he turned for the kitchen, shoulders squared a little taller than before.
__
The door creaked open.
Smoke stood in the threshold like he wasn’t sure he had the right to come back in. Smoke looked different. Not unraveled — not quite. But quieted. Like whatever storm had rolled through him had lost its bite, leaving behind a man instead of a tempest.
Annie didn’t turn. She sat curled on the couch, knees tucked beneath her, her hand still in Stack’s. The fire had burned low, its glow casting soft shadows across the room. Silence pressed in like fog.
Smoke stepped inside, slow and cautious, like a man testing floorboards for landmines. His eyes found her first. She didn’t flinch. But she didn’t look up, either.
“I scared you,” he said, voice low.
No one answered.
He stood there a beat longer, hat in hand, shoulders heavy.
“I talked about ownin’ you. Fuckin’ the disrespect outta you,” he went on, his voice thick. “That ain’t love talk. That’s not somethin’ you say to the woman you love.”
Annie shifted slightly. Stack’s thumb moved gently over her knuckles.
“I ain’t proud of it,” Smoke murmured. “I’m sorry.”
Still, neither of them spoke.
Smoke let out a breath through his nose, rough around the edges.
“I was mad you shut us down,” he said. “Mad you didn’t let us defend you. But I didn’t come at you like a husband. I came at you like a man who forgot what kind of woman he had.”
That made her look up.
Her eyes were still red, but she met his gaze steady.
“You did scare me,” she said softly.
Stack’s jaw ticked, but Annie gave his hand a squeeze—like she was okay.
“And I hurt y’all too,” she added. “Shut you down in your own home. Made you feel unheard. That wasn’t right.”
She stood, slow and deliberate. Smoke didn’t move.
“You and Stack… you’re my peace,” she said. “My anchor. And tonight I treated you like a storm. All ‘cause I let my past talk louder than the two men who actually built something with me.”
She stepped toward Smoke now, close enough her chest brushed his.
“I’m sorry I spit,” she said, quieter still. “That was… uncalled for. And beneath me.”
Smoke’s brow furrowed, something soft and pained flickering in his eyes. His hand came up, cradling her jaw.
“You still ours?” he asked.
She nodded once.
“Yours. Always.”
Behind them, Stack smiled to himself.
Then Annie turned to Stack.
The man looked caught off guard—his brows lifted, lips parting like he wasn’t expecting the spotlight.
“I’m sorry I made you feel secondary today, baby,” she said. “Like your opinion didn’t matter. Like you were less than.”
“Whoa, now—I ain’t say all that,” Stack replied, lifting a hand.
“You didn’t have to,” she murmured. “I see now what I was doing. And it was wrong. You’re every bit a part of this, and I treated you like a bystander. I’m sorry, Elias. Truly.”
Stack blinked. For a second, he didn’t know what to say.
Smoke chimed in, voice low. “And thank you.”
Stack looked over.
“I was losin’ my head in here,” Smoke said. “And you got me right. You always do.”
“Well,” Stack drawled, clearing his throat and smoothing down his collar. “Now that y’all mention it… you right. I am the star of today’s show. Glad that’s been properly acknowledged.”
That earned him a chuckle from both Annie and Smoke.
He folded his arms and leaned back, cocky as ever. He thrusted his chin at Annie “You can show me your gratitude in peach cobbler.”
Annie arched a brow. “Peach cobbler?”
“Yes ma’am. And don’t cheap out it either. I need hella peaches in there.” he said dead serious.
“And you—” he looked at Smoke, “you can take stock at the juke for the next week.”
“Three days,” Smoke countered.
“Five.”
“Deal.”
They shook on it, solemn as preachers.
Annie laughed—quiet, but real—and turned to glance over her shoulder.
“Well,” Stack said, breaking the lingering tension with a dry drawl, “now that everyone’s sorry… can we go back to actin’ like Melody’s husband don’t eat with his damn mouth open and ask questions like ‘what y’all do for money’ like he ain’t got food crumbs in his mustache?”
Annie barked a laugh. Smoke cracked a grin despite himself.
“Mm,” Annie said, eyes dancing, “maybe I’ll go spit on him next time.”
Smoke raised a brow. “You better not. I’m the only one gettin’ that kind of disrespect.”
She smirked. “So… the ‘fuckin’ the disrespect outta me’ thing… that still on the table, or?”
Stack groaned, loud and dramatic, dragging a hand down his face. “I’m leavin’ the room.”
“No, no,” Annie said quickly, reaching out to stop him. Her voice softened. “I want all my boys,” she murmured. “My family. With me tonight.”
Stack froze.
Smoke looked up at her—really looked.
Smoke’s lips brushed her temple. Stack kissed her shoulder.
The house, so loud just an hour ago, fell to hush.
Just heartbeats.
Just them.
And the slow, quiet burn of still belonging to one another.

you kiss the tip before giving them head —jjk edition
Satoru Gojo—He’s already cocky, sprawled out and smug like he’s doing you a favor. But the moment your lips press a soft, teasing kiss to the very tip of his dick, his entire body jolts like you just hexed him. “…The hell was that?” he breathes, raspy, desperate. Then you do it again. Satoru hisses, his cock twitching against your tongue. He fists the sheets, pupils blown wide. “You—You can’t do that. You can’t be cute and nasty. That’s my job,” he pants, already losing composure. You don’t even have your mouth around him yet and he’s already twitching like he might fall apart. “Holy shit, you’re evil. I’m gonna fall in love again.”
Suguru Geto—He watches you with reverent eyes, one hand brushing your hair back like you’re something holy. But the moment you press a soft, worshipful kiss to the tip, his breath catches. “…You’re unreal,” he mutters, almost more to himself. You swirl your tongue against the slit, tasting him, and his composure fractures. “You don’t have to tease. Unless you want me to forget all my manners.” But he doesn’t stop you. He watches, bottom lip caught between his teeth, his cock throbbing in your hold. “Go on, baby,” he whispers, thumb stroking your cheek. “Show me how sweet you can be.”
Toji Fushiguro—You expect a grunt. A curse. Maybe a cocky smirk. But when you kiss the tip of his cock? He goes still. “…The fuck was that for?” he growls, low and confused. Then you smile, sweet and innocent, up at him, and do it again. Toji’s jaw locks. His hips twitch forward involuntarily. “Cute little tease,” he mutters, eyes dark. “You’re playing a dangerous fuckin’ game.” His hand curls into your hair as you lick a slow stripe down his length. “You better finish what you start, brat,” he growls. “Or I’m fucking your throat ‘til you cry.”
Kento Nanami—He’s neat, precise, composed, even in bed. But when you drop to your knees and press a single, reverent kiss to the flushed tip of his cock, all of that shatters. Nanami exhales harshly, like you just knocked the air from his lungs. “That’s… unnecessary,” he murmurs, trying and failing to stay calm. But you kiss it again, slow and teasing, and his hand immediately fists in your hair. “…Correction,” he says, low and trembling. “It’s completely necessary. But if you tease me like that again, I’m going to fuck your mouth like it’s the last thing I’ll ever do.”
Choso Kamo—He already thinks you’re an angel. So when you kiss the tip like it’s something precious, he melts. “O-oh…” he gasps, looking down with wide, stunned eyes. His hands tremble slightly as they brush your cheeks, unsure if he should hold you or let you take your time. “Y-You’re really doing that… just for me?” You smile and kiss him again. His hips jerk, and he lets out a sound so pretty, it makes you want to ruin him. “I don’t deserve you,” he whispers, dazed. “But please… don’t stop.”
Ryomen Sukuna—You dare kiss his cock like it’s sacred? He laughs. A dark, guttural chuckle that rumbles through his chest. “Well, well… look who learned manners.” You kiss the tip again, and his reaction is instant. His hand tangles in your hair, forcing your eyes up to meet his. “Think you can tease the King of Curses?” he hisses, cock twitching against your lips. But there’s a twitch in his jaw, a stutter in his breath, a crack in that sadistic smirk. “Fine,” he snarls. “Be sweet. I’ll ruin you for it.”
Yuji Itadori—He was already blushing, thighs trembling, nervous from how hot you made him feel. But when you look up at him with those innocent eyes and kiss the tip, he whimpers. “A-Are you serious right now?” You swirl your tongue just under the head and he nearly loses his balance. “I’m—I’m not gonna last,” he stammers, a hand clutching your shoulder like it’s the only thing anchoring him. “Why’d you have to do that? That’s cheating!” He’s flushed down to his chest, panting before you even wrap your lips around him. “I might die happy.”
Megumi Fushiguro—He tries to keep his cool. Really, he does. But the moment you softly kiss the tip, his entire body tenses like a string pulled taut. “Don’t…” he warns. His voice is strained, rough. “Don’t do that unless you’re ready for what comes after.” You do it again, just to see what happens. Megumi exhales a shaky breath through his nose, eyes darkening. “You’re going to regret that,” he mutters. His hand comes to cradle the back of your head, almost gentle, until he forces you closer. “…Open your mouth.”
Inumaki Toge—He watches you with wide eyes, the faintest “nori…” tumbling out of his lips when you kiss the tip with a wicked little smile. His whole body jerks in surprise, and he clamps a hand over his mouth like he might moan out a cursed word. “Oh…” he gasps, hips twitching as you lick him. When you hum sweetly against the tip, he damn near collapses. His fingers twist in your hair, his breathing ragged. “…Don’t stop,” he finally whispers in your ear—real words, low and husky. “Please.”

"The girl in his eyes." Bob Reynolds Imagine.
(Not my gif but give a prize to the people who make them)
Summary: Time together created feelings in the two of you. One night, the group tries to get him and you to talk about it, with John urging Bob to talk about "the girl in his eyes." And that creates a big misunderstanding.
A/N: Just a kind of short imagine (around 4K words) cause I'm new here and I don't want to go on too long and bore you all in case this is boring. I'm sorry if there are any grammatical errors. But something I always knew but I accepted today is that some of us write the kind of love we'd like to receive, right? The kind we sometimes can't find, though other did find, I hope. However, in the meantime, don't forget to love yourself please. As a warning, a little angst(?) but with a happy ending! and the word "drug." I think that's all, thanks!

“Lena, did you see (Y/N)—”
The last letter of your name drops to a whisper as Bob stops in front of the long couch, Yelena’s finger pressed against her own lips to silence him, a potato chip sandwiched between her other two before she pops it into her mouth, the bag in her lap, and her full attention back on the phone in her other hand.
She’s sitting diagonally, her back between the cushion behind her and the armrest, her left knee bent down as it falls off the edge to the floor, but it’s the other one that has Bob pressing his lips together as he films this version of you with his bluest gaze, the memory searing itself into his mind. You’re there, asleep, lying sideways on the comfy, fluffy cushions, part of your head on the outside of Yelena’s thigh, a front strand of your hair now falling over your closed eyelids and the border of your nose.
And it's soft for Bob, that image of you, and overwhelming only in the way it forces him to swallow the lump forming in his throat as his feelings pile up inside.
"You need anything, Bob?" Yelena's pointed gaze moves from the paused TikTok video (a cat staring at the camera, a flashbulb fired in right in its face), chuckling as the animal's expression still lingers in her mind, and frozen on her phone—the white feline silhouette and wide–open eyes—she shows it to him. "Have you watched this video?"
Bob nods, and the sound of him trying to clear his throat (so his words don't falter mid–sentence as he knows they will) accompanies the action.
"Yeah, (Y/N) sent it to me a few days ago."
"It's so funny." She laughs softly, and her full attention is on to the device again, finger sliding across the screen after saving it to favorites, bringing another chip to her mouth. “That cat is so silly.”
But like a cry, Bob whimpers softly, the tiniest sound in the silence.
“You’re dropping crumbs in her hair, Lena.”
Yelena stops, her gaze sliding from her phone to him and then back down to you, and her slightly oily hand catches the crispy piece that had gotten caught in the strands.
“Relax, Bob. This is the price (Y/N) is paying for using me. She knows it. We shook hands. Now, do you need anything? Or someone, maybe?”
There’s a hint of healthy mockery in her smile, a silent challenge in her tone of voice that’s urging him to answer only with the truth everyone already sees, but the featherweight of her joke feels like lead in his chest and in his nervous hands, covered by a layer of clothing one size too big for Bob.
“No, just… I finished reading a book and thought (Y/N) would be here ready to—”
But there was nothing afterward, just lying there together, in the same bed before sleeping, on extreme sides so as not to cross boundaries but to keep each other company before loneliness settled in every room, when it sometimes forced Bob to wake up with a gasp and a foggy mind filled with traumatic experiences, talking about books or things.
But perhaps it was the words left unspoken between you two before sleeping (hidden among the ones you did say: goodnight and sleep well), the ones you two avoided saying and pushed aside, along with the feelings that lived dormant in the darkness and accumulated inside each other—the things you both were dying to say but neither of you dared for fear that the already solid pillars of your friendship would crumble because of something as unstable as love.
Yelena waits a second longer, but there is no response from the other end.
“The team and I were talking about you tw—”
Bob knows what it is, the favorite topic on everyone's lips.
“You guys talk a lot, maybe you should shut up for a while. Silence is good sometimes.”
She rolls her eyes, an exasperated look following her action.
“Help me out here for a while, will you? I have a cramp and need to stretch.”
Bob swallows, eyes slightly wide at the prospect of feeling that kind of closeness with you, the kind that comes so quickly it makes him dizzy and ignites the heat in his cheeks sharply. The warmth of your hand, he felt it before, many times, a casual or intentional touch, and it was scorching (like when the supermarket was crowded and the crush of people unnerved him sometimes, for example, so your fingers would close around his and his hand would squeeze yours), as if it could ignite a forest fire inside him, so wild it seemed it could burn everything… but everything bad, of course—like the enemy in his thoughts, his insecurities, his fears, his nightmares.
He didn't even want to think about what it would feel like to feel the heat of your cheek.
But he did.
Bob had imagined it several times already. In a burst of bravery, with his heart beating faster than a drug high, his thumb would slide down your soft cheek, fingers hooking gently around the edge of your jaw.
"Bob?"
"What?"
Yelena drops her things into the armrest, her hand cupping the bottom of your head.
“Put your leg here, Bob.”
He shakes his head fast, his own heartbeat increasing with the fear and excitement that mix, so close that the line between them blurs, and his somewhat messy, wild hair moves with him.
“I don’t think—”
“Three…”
“What are you—?”
“Two…”
“Lena—”
“One.”
Bob takes a step forward, hands outstretched to stop her without a word, a silent plea in his eyes for her to do nothing, even though Yelena hadn't moved an inch and wasn't planning to either. And with a deep inhalation and exhalation, a failed attempt to fill his lungs with cold air and soothe the heat settling in his chest, Bob switches places with her, even more gentle as you shift in your sleep, your hands close to your face and your cheek now on his leg, covered by his gray sleep pants, but which seem like the finest fabric in the world when Bob feels your heat radiate through your skin until it meets his, every nerve ending.
"You're adorable, Bob." Yelena laughs quietly, but there's not a hint of cruel mockery in her words—never with him—and she leans back on the second–long sofa, phone in her hand again. "Like those boys in her books. Such a gentleman. I know why she likes you so much."
Likes you, being in love—two different scenarios if the feelings on either side were unequal. Either a chasm separated those two feelings, or the first could be the path to get to the other.
“Did I do something wrong to make her not like me anymore?”
The weight of self–doubt about a topic as distant and still foreign to him as love (next to his insecurities) try to bring down the confidence Bob was still trying to build little by little, day by day, and Yelena can see them shining clearly in his gaze as he finally holds hers, even in the dim living room light at night, searching for an answer he can't find within himself, not when there's a thick fog between the truth and him.
“What do you mean?”
Bob shrugs.
“(Y/N) is always here with me, but absent at the same time, as if something has suddenly changed between us.”
“You’re overthinking things, Bob.”
There’s affection in Yelena’s words, and they are warm in their attempt to reassure him of a truth hidden among his fears, but he lets out a small sound, something like a laugh without a hint of humor. Just an empty noise.
“Overthinking sometimes allows you to see the smallest things.”
“Like what?”
Bob can see it in his sometimes fragmented mind, every moment together and the way you changed, slowly, with him always next to you but finding solitude where there was only company, a touch of emptiness when there was always life in your eyes everytime you looked at him.
He doesn't know exactly how to explain any of that, and Yelena nods thoughtfully.
"Why don't you try to think about what exactly you did then? We have a while until the losers arrive with dinner. I'm going to be here with you, but ignoring you at the same time, okay?"
Catching his slight nod, Yelena turns on the couch, face close to the cushion and her phone in between, indistinct sounds from the videos, set to low volume, floating around him so the absolute silence doesn't completely consume him with the severity of his thoughts.
Bob lowers his head and his gaze rests on you, listening to the sound of your slow breathing as, in your sleep, your body relaxed, at peace. The curve of your lips is tempting, and he lifts the hand resting in his lap to push that strand of hair away from your face and place it where it belongs.
There, above your eyebrow and with nothing covering it now, Bob can see the only physical reminder of the fall of a whole building when your self–control overflowed at the edge of your anger. And like a tiny crack in a surface, the small scar has a slightly different hue than your skin, but it was an imperfection that only makes you even more perfect, more real, a whole person and not a cruel dream from which Bob always wakes up before reaching.
Just like that, your presence in his life became a need.
You were the proof that he was still alive after the unbearable pain, (knowing all have been worth it because he met you) and that his heart hadn't turned to tin. He was still breathing, his heart was still beating, and for the first time, he'd finally felt the nervous tingle, the fluttering of being in love.
Love, so silent you don't even know you have it until you're full of it.
Love, a silent feeling in a room full of euphoria, and at the same time, it's like an alarm that goes off and no one but him and you can hear.
To be close to you, with you, every day, that’s all Bob wanted at the beginning. But almost selfishly, the passage of time together made him greedy, wanting more from you, a different smile than you had for others, a new kind of laugh, escalating until all his thoughts were about you, daydreaming about how to shake off his title of friend and crown himself with a different one.
It was a silent plea, a hope. It became a desire that made him company through his sleepless nights…
“You need to be direct with her.” Alexei had said a few weeks ago in the kitchen, when the hands of the clock showed it was very late at night. “Your words must be deep enough to cut like a knife in the heart.”
Bob didn’t even know how he’d ended up in that secret meeting, when all he’d wanted to do was grab a late–night snack from the fridge to leave on your nightstand after you’d joked, somewhat embarrassingly, that you did that sometimes. But, confused and slightly scared, his eyebrows furrowed in surprise as the rest of the men stared at the red guardian and his constantly failing attempt to explain himself properly.
“Maybe not so direct.” Walker shook his head, the usual mocking tone in his voice. “How about you just tell her in small hints instead of trying to draw blood? You can hint that you like her, but without actually saying I like you.”
Bob blinked, confused, the information coming in too fast as he tried to take it all in.
“Like what?”
Bucky wag his head softly.
“Ask her to teach you how to do things you know she likes. She will feel that you are interested in her.”
And that was exactly what Bob did.
Now, when the doors of the elevator open and some really loud voices pierce the room, Bob’s natural protective instinct, (the one that was born in him the first time he took care of his father after witnessing his first blackout) makes his hand, a second after the resounding sound, move fast to press it against your ear, blocking out the laugh coming from the men.
As a reflex, your body moves in your sleep, but your awakening is less abrupt with his help.
You get up slowly, your mind and gaze blurred as Yelena leaves the living room, patting Bob on the shoulder on her way to the dining room. The edges of your gaze darken after rubbing your eyes with the palms of your hands, the pleasant sting creeping around as you chuckle.
“Did I sleep so much I forgot I was lying on your leg?”
Bob chuckles too, and an invisible thread pulls the corner of his lip upward.
“You slept so long that Lena’s leg went numb. Just like mine.”
You let out a surprised laugh, your body slumping back against the backrest.
“Sorry.”
“It’s okay, you know I’m always here for you.”
“Kids, dinner!”
Alexei’s voice fills the room.
At the same time, as a reflection that you both can’t avoid in time when instinct wins, Bob and you move your bodies to look over your shoulders, heads turning in the same direction, finding yourselves at what your mother used to call, at the perfect distance of a kiss. Bob is so close you can almost drink his breath, stopping yours when his blue gaze holds yours for an eternal second that finish too quickly but that feels endless too, watching each other's eyes before you both separate, looking forward as a nervous feeling fills your heart.
You walk away first, finding an empty spot next to Ava.
“Dad, will you stop calling us to the table like we’re real kids?” Yelena complains, sitting at one of the heads of the food–laden table as Bob sits in the chair across from you. “Someone here is older than life.”
The rest chuckle, not too loudly.
“But you’re my kids. Now, let’s have dinner like family.”
At some point, there is a back—and—forth conversation around, about a past relationship for some of them, somehow empty, never too deep because talking once about the future they hoped and never got to feel is enough for everybody, but always accompanied by soft laughter that makes the tower feel like a real home after some lost it or never had it in the first place.
“So… what’s your type of man, (Y/N)?” Yelena chuckles, and the sound is full of her genuine affection for you, but it hides too her desire to steer the conversation in a way that Bob can be somehow included in your words. “You’re always reading, so you must have a type. Maybe someone here is just like that.”
The others feign innocence, but the possibility stirs in Bob’s body with a heartbeat that’s too fast, eyebrows slightly furrowed in confusion, in expectation, and with a certain weight of worry about not hearing a promising answer.
“Who?” Ava laughs also knowingly, with a certain disdain at thinking of the others and you that way too, and her finger points at Alexei. “Too old.” Then at Bucky. “Way too old.” Finally, at John. “Too much of an idiot. That leaves just Bob.”
Bob swallows at the sound of his name, so abruptly that the food in his mouth makes his expression twist slightly in pain.
The others, expectant, continue waiting.
You clear your throat, your heart pounding against your chest as if it were seeking its own freedom and a way out of a situation that seems unlikely to end well.
“The usual, I guess, just… a nice guy.”
“Oh, come on, that’s not fun.” John grins, malice bubbling up as if he needs to embarrass someone at least once a day to survive. “You could be more specific, like Bob. Right now there is a girl in his eyes so he could tell us what she’s like, describe her so much until we’re bored.”
Bob's gaze meets yours, barely a second before you look away when Bucky speaks.
“I think that’s enough with the jokes, huh?”
But then, to everyone’s surprise and his own, Bob speaks, and with a touch of nervousness in his voice bordering on anxiety, he starts talking about her. Just a little, not a lot, not quite to the point of boring the rest of you.
And you listen, your heart a little cold around the edges. Like a brutal change in the season, the tempest of his words threatens to hurt you without hesitation or guilt, but you listen, because you always tried to be a good friend to Bob, a person he could trust when he didn't even trust his own shadow. And even when he was always full of doubt about himself, about the truth, he seemed to trust your voice more than the enemy within, the one that whispered only cruelty. Even when he became cloudy, Bob would pull the blanket off his head when you asked him to, because that was always a promise for him that the sadness would all end eventually.
For all those months together, it had been you, and between heartbeats, it had always been him. Until you confused things, apparently.
Until the girl in his eyes arrived.
And it hurts, it burns to think about it, that reality that creeps up on you, that of always being just a friend. And it's like having an empty stomach, an empty mind, an empty heart.
When he's finished, you excuse yourself to leave the room with a smile and your head held high, leaving the deathly silence behind and missing the way Bob follows you with his eyes, even after you disappear.
"I think we blew this." Ava lets out a small sound, like a worried laugh at possible defeat as she looks at the rest.
"Did you have to go on so long, genius?" A semi–hard object hits the side of Bob's head and bounces off it, but without erasing his terrified expression as he looks at Bucky. "We told you you had to flatter her a little, not write her a whole Shakespearean sonnet."
Yelena frowns.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“Some weeks ago we told Bob to try to hint to (Y/N) that he likes her without telling her he likes her.”
“And?”
“And nothing else. (Y/N) came into the kitchen that night to get something from the fridge, and the conversation ended there.”
“Did she hear you talking about this ingenious plan?” Ava’s hard gaze landed on Bob, and he blinked, innocent eyes set in a look of terror. “Did (Y/N) hear you talking about her? or did she hear you being told by the smartest men in this place how to get a random girl?”
As night fell and sent the rest of the team to sleep, the endless talk finished when you had entered the kitchen, a soft sound from your throat announcing your presence first.
“What are you doing up so late, darling?”
“Just came to get something to eat.” You replied to Bucky, and Bucky’s gaze rested on you, all the way until you closed the fridge door. “Sorry to interrupt your boys’ sleepover.”
“It’s not a boys’ sleepover, (Y/N), please.” John whined softly, slightly offended.
“Men’ sleepover is better.” Alexei smiled, and you laughed with him, his innocence fluttering as the others sighed in defeat.
“Of course, my mistake. Sleep well, everybody.”
“You too.”
The others' voices were an echo, except for Bob's, lips closed as your eyes fell on him in your farewell, just for a second.
He never said your name, and neither did the others. But from then on, there was only half a life in your eyes, whereas before they had always been full of it every time you looked at him.
The seconds of understanding end when Bob stands up, so fast he pushes his chair back with a dry sound against the polished floor.
His own breathing becomes labored, but he tries to calm his anxious heart all the way down the hall.
"You always have to ruin things—"
"Not this time. Not with her." Bob murmurs softly, and when he finally reaches your room, your door is always open for anyone who wants to enter and exist, and that's a mixed relief for him. "(Y/N)?"
You look over your shoulder, your body facing away from him as you continue to sit in front of your laptop on the desk.
"Yes?"
"Can I come in?"
"Of course."
Bob closes the door behind him, barely making a noise as he ventures inside, but feeling the place like untapped territory even though he's been there since his life merged with yours. The sound of his sneakers on the floor is almost nonexistent, but it feels heavy like lead in his pockets as Bob sits next to you, listening to the almost ghostly volume of the video playing in front of you.
"You okay, Bob?"
Your attention is on the screen and your voice is a whisper, but it is an overwhelming force that hits his chest, even harder than bullets in the past.
"Are you?"
You chuckle.
"I asked you first."
Bob hums a reply.
"You wanna lie down for a while? I finished a new book today and I know I can convince you to read it."
You shake your head, but there's a slight, honest smile on your lips.
"I'm not sleepy yet. Maybe later or tomorrow."
Neither of you says anything for a moment, your eyes straight ahead like Bob's gaze lingers on your profile. Bright eyes, soft skin.
But Bob knew that you too were still learning to use your voice just like him, to find the right words—those always hidden—so scattered across different galaxies, so far from each other that you still struggled to put them together to say something eloquent, to say what you both truly wanted to say, what you two truly felt. Silence had always been your ally and an imposition for him. And that had been his curse throughout his life, always in solitude, until it created his inability to say what he really wanted to say.
But not today, not ever again.
“We’re feeling a little much apathetic today, huh?”
It’s not an accusation, but his tone tinges with his sassiness, the kind he used to make direct comments and respond to other people’s jokes, to John’s sarcasm and sometimes Bucky’s condescension. Today, however, his words make you frown sharply as you turn to look at him.
“Excuse me?” His gaze threatens to falter and leave yours when you narrow your eyes at him, but Bob stands firm when what he's said is free to the world, saying out loud what he wants to say instead of letting it perish inside and ducking his head to pretend it never happened. "You're quite bold sometimes, Bob."
“And you’re quite clueless.” He smiles, softly, nervous but firmly planted on the floor, his heart pounding in his chest. The electricity, the tingling at his fingertips as the result of this brave act is addictive, like a drug, but ultimately a healthy one, one he wants to get hooked on. “I was talking about you, silly. How can you be so smart and not realize that every word I said was about you, (Y/N)?”
Your frown relaxes more, and the gnawing feeling of annoyance at his forwardness is replaced by confusion. His hands cup the sides of your chair, and Bob pulls you closer, gently, not roughly, taking in the way your body has stopped tensing, being brave when he sees your eyes light up with affection again, completely—a little scared around the edges, but finally not halfway.
“When I asked you to teach me how to braid your hair, it was for you—for that loose braid you always have. Your mom did it for you, didn’t she? Every day. You told me.” You nod, feeling the heat from his knees radiating against yours. “When I asked you to teach me how to dance to those old ballads Bucky loves so much, I didn’t do it to dance with someone else. I did it because I saw the way he spun you around one night and saw you laugh, and I wanted so badly to be him that I could feel my body vibrate. The things I said in the kitchen, about her hair and her laugh and everything—it was all about you, okay? Can you believe me, honey? Please?”
You nod again, and Bob can see hope, right next to that desire of a soul crying out for the exact same thing as his, silent but fervent.
His hands cup your face, soft skin over slightly calloused fingers on your cheeks and the underside, thumbs gliding to make his dreams (asleep and awake) come true, a touch so tender you feel nothing but warmth at the tips—his face so close his breath mingles with yours.
Your own hands clutch at his arms, searching for something to hold you steady as well.
“I’m sorry. I… I got scared. This is my first time feeling like this.”
“I know. And I’m so sorry, I never meant to make you feel like there was someone else because ever since I met you, it’s always been you. But if you still have any doubt, you are the girl in my eyes.”
Bob leans forward, closing the small space between his existence and yours.
And behind his closed eyelids, just like yours, the darkness ceases to be terrifying and becomes pleasurable, for the first time in his life, a place where Bob would stay if that means he can keep kissing you like this. Time, life itself, the past and future are suspended, unimportant and in an eternal pause in the long seconds his lips linger and move with yours. It’s like an unspoken conversation between you two, a confession of love without even having to say those three magical words. A connection, strength and gentleness, melting away any fear or doubt. The kiss is soft like him, a little shy like you, but real and perfect after every moment you imagined him in your head.
And in a synchronized movement, the two of you separate, breathing in each other's air.
"I'll be back, okay? I won't be long." He whispers, his lips touch yours with the promise of many more shared kisses, before Bob stands.
"Where are you going?"
He stops halfway across the room and turns around, those strands of hair on either side of his face bouncing with the movement.
“I'm going to get you some midnight snacks so you won't have to get up later, and get that book I was talking about.”
You laugh softly.
“And you're going to tell the others, aren't you?”
“No.” His shoulders slump. “Yes. I have to, honey. Lena and Ava were about to hurt me really bad.”
A nervous but genuine smile appears on that sweet face of him before Bob turns away.

Hi Boo! Could you grace us with something really cute and domestic with Kup, the reader, and their sparkling? How would Springer react to having a little brother or sister?
Cute! That old mech deserves to be a sire- I think there’s two other recent asks about Kup, too

Domestic
Kup x Reader
• ‘No, Kup, wait,’ Springer protests, and Kup almost laughs. This is what the kid’s scared of? Not Decepticons or battle? A tiny, helpless sparkling. And Springs puts his hands out in self defense when Kup places his sparkling in his adopted son’s arms, showing him how to cradle the sparkling against himself and to support his head. “You aren’t going to drop your brother, so quit making a fuss, kid,” he growls as Springer stares at the sleeping youngling. And the younger mech’s head comes up in surprise, staring at him. Had the kid actually thought he’d stop being his son now that he has a youngling he’d sparked?
• Watching the two of them with your son, you know Springer’s not related to Kup, but that he’d raised him. And he’s a good kid, even if he’s grown and centuries older than you are. “You’re going to help with him,” you call out and they both look back at you sitting on the berth. “Kup’s getting up there in years and we need the help,” you add to make your mate work his cygar between his denta, even though he knows you’re teasing him.
• “You didn’t think I was too old last night,” he growls, smirking at the memory. “Pretty sure you were the one who needed a break.” And your face reddens as Springer vents tiredly. ‘I’d rather not hear about you two doing that,’ Springer mutters, as Kup laughs. “How exactly do you think we got a sparkling, kid?” Before Springer can retort, his son whines, optics opening and he expects the sparkling to wail about being held by someone new. But the little one just stares up at Springer, warbling uncertainly. ‘Hi,’ Springer whispers, smiling to leave Kup warm. Because this is his family. Springer’s still his son even if he didn’t sire him, always will be.
• Relaxing when you realize the baby isn’t going to scream his head off, you watch Kup reach to offer him a servo. Father and son both fussing over your son. All three normal sized, so you’re left out on the berth. Your baby bigger than you are right now. Until his head turns and he chirps, legs kicking. Seeing you. Recognizing you and you smile. And nearly have a heart attack when he mass shifts and Springer snarls, cupping the even tinier sparkling in his palms, his optics wide. “He does that,” you manage weakly, heart racing and feeling almost sick as you can’t breathe watching them.
• Spark thrumming frantically, Kup clears his vents loudly, too old for this sort of thing despite his insistence he’s not as Springer lowers his hands so you can climb into his palm and pick up his son, kneeling in Springer’s hands as the sparkling chirps, mouthing at you hungrily. “You’re staying for a meal interval,” Kup says, trying to hide that he’s shaken up as Springer just stares at you in his hands cradling his little brother. Making him painfully aware of how fragile his happiness is. This second chance something he never expected, something he’d given up on having at his age. That you and his sparkling are both so vulnerable. Helpless. ‘Sure,’ Springer murmurs, staring at the sparkling with a hunger Kup understands. Wanting his own family, his own chance at happy and Springer’s servos flex.

NSFW Alphabet
John F. Walker (US Agent)
Smut - Explicit content - NSFW - 18+ only!
A = Aftercare (what they’re like after sex)
He is pretty great at aftercare, actually. He will check in with you to make sure you are okay and help clean you up. I think he's the kind of guy who would immediately shift to put himself in the wet spot so you can have the dry comfy spot without even saying a word about it. I also think he is a massive fan of cuddling after sex, even if he doesn't necessarily say it. If you try to get up to get dressed or do anything more than pee, he's immediately trying to pull you back into bed and wrapping himself around you. He likes cuddling with you completely bare against him. Especially once he's really let himself fall for you. He has missed being held and holding someone in return. He didn't even realize how much he missed it, but he did.
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner’s)
I think John has a lot of things he likes about himself. I think he's very proud of his muscles. Even before the serum, he worked really hard for them. I think he likes his eyes. They are what people tend to compliment the most. I think his favorite thing, though, is his smile. He was always smiling in photos before. He sees the posters and pictures of him smiling proudly, and now, whenever he smiles, he tries to channel that confidence again. That's part of why he grew the beard. To disguise from the fact that his smile was so different now. He can never quite get the smile to go all the way up to his eyes. Until you. You brought back his genuine smile again.
In his partner, I feel like John likes the curvier bits. Hips and thighs. He likes having something to grip onto. Something that jiggles when he fucks you. Something he can cuddle into and snuggle up with. A part of him also likes the idea that you have birthing hips. He wants more kids. The caveman part of his brain immediately hones in on the fact that you are built perfectly for that. He'd be lying if he said he didn't also love leaving little bruises and marks over the soft skin of your hips and thighs. If he's eating you out he's gonna be biting your inner thighs at least a couple times. If you're on top he's holding onto your hips so tight you're gonna have fingerprints.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
At first he's very particular about only cumming in your mouth or in your pussy. After you catch him watching porn one day you find out he really has a fantasy about cumming all over your face and tits. It hadn't really been a huge turn on before, but he cums a lot now because of the serum and that makes the idea all the more appealing to him. He loves the idea of essentially marking your body. Of you letting him cover you in himself. It’s possessive and intimate all at the same time. Since he can cum multiple times in a short period thanks to the serum he will be especially over the moon if you let him cum inside you and then all over you, back to back. He'll think he's died and gone to heaven if you let him take a video of it or pictures of you afterward for when he's away on a mission. The first time cums all over your pussy he swears it could be considered art. If he's feeling romantic or his breeding kink is going full strength he just wants to cum in your pussy. Filling you up and then daydreaming about getting the second chance at the happy life with a white picket and you bouncing his babies on your hip. Except this time he won't fuck it up.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self-explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He is absolutely dying to fuck you while he's still wearing his suit. It's his biggest fantasy. He's praying you will ask him when he gets back from a mission and tends to linger before he takes it off or tries it on at random times in hopes you'll figure out what he wants. He doesn't want to ask for it, but absolutely wants it to happen. He loves that it makes him feel manly and in command. He also knows he looks pretty damn hot in it. In particular, pressed up against the wall with you hanging onto the harness for his shield or with you bent over in front of a mirror. Also he would really like it if you happened to call him Captain while he's fucking you in the suit. Actually he's gonna need to fuck you in the suit at least twice. Once with the helmet on and once without
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they’re doing?)
I tend to believe he and Olivia were each other's first. So he has maybe only had a couple of partners. Obviously, he was with Olivia for a long time, and they have a kid, so he knows what he's doing. He's also very much an overachiever. That being said, I think the variety of his experience is pretty limited. Probably hasn't done much beyond what would be considered vanilla. That doesn't mean he's not open to it. You just may have to teach him, and he will 1000% pretend he knows all of this already, even if it is completely new. I also don't know that I see him going above and beyond to learn if you aren't doing it with him. He's got tried and true ways of getting himself off. He feels there's no need to fix it if it ain't broken.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Mating press or horizontal cowgirl with him fucking up into you instead of you doing the work. He likes positions that feel a little intense where he can press his body tight to yours and give him a lot of control over speed and depth. He's a control freak with abandonment issues. He wants to be in charge and he wants to know you aren't going anywhere until he's done with you. Mating press is his go-to on any given day. Something feels very primal about it and the way it opens you up for him, but he still gets all the benefits of missionary like being able to kiss and talk to you. Horizontal cowgirl is his pick if he's feeling a little subby. He'll let you have control at the start, let you set the pace and ride him, but by the end he's usually holding you against his chest so tight you can't move and he's busy pounding into you from the bottom. If he's had a really bad day or is really frustrated he wants it in doggy or prone. A position where he can just go to town and fuck the shit out of you.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
He is a definite dork, but that definitely doesn't translate to the bedroom. He can be a smartass in both normal situations and sexy ones, but he generally considers sex to be a more serious intimate moment. It's somewhere he can let his guard down and doesn't have to hide behind his shield or his sarcasm. You get to see a side of him no one else does. A side that isn't protecting itself with sarcastic humor or hidden by ego. He almost feels like these moments between you are sacred. You get glimpses of the sweet man he was before the military really got a hold of him, and before the government decided he was a weapon to be discarded once he made them look bad. You can see why Olivia had fallen for him, and yet at the same time, you can see why him changing broke her. He has a lot of heart, he has just built up so many walls around it it's not always obvious to everyone else.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
He's meticulous about it. He doesn't necessarily mean to be, but it's something harmless he can obsess over when he gets in his head. He's been told by strangers that he looks better with the beard. You kind of agree, but you tell him you'd love him either way. He keeps everything trimmed. He's not insanely hairy, just enough to feel manly to you. You love to run your fingers through the hair on his chest and tease him about how you never thought you'd be with a blonde guy and how you always liked guys with dark hair before him. The hair on his chest and his pubic hair is just a touch darker than the hair on his head. It's more the same color as his beard. He's still blonde all over, though. When you want to get frisky in the mornings, you love waking him up by letting your fingers start on his chest and slowly tease over his abdomen following his happy trail until you are stroking him. He practically starts purring when you do this.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
He gets very in the moment. Totally focused on the task at hand, getting both of you off. Sometimes, he does lean more romantic. I firmly believe there is still a soft sweet hopeless romantic guy in there somewhere. He's just buried deep, and he has to trust you before revealing that side of himself. Even when it isn't overly romantic or soft, it's still very intimate and intense. As we've discussed before, he just wants so much to be good enough and not let people down. He doesn't want to let you down, and he wants to be enough for you. Even if he doubts himself, he's gonna give it everything he has every time. Even when he lets you take charge, he still will make sure that you are satisfied. I think once he falls for you, he falls hard and will do everything in his power to try and communicate how much he cares for you in bed. Sometimes he fucks you, but sometimes he full on makes love to you.
J = Jerk off (masturbation headcanon)
He jerks off a lot. Partly because of the serum, and his stamina will always outpace yours. He can jerk off in the morning and still have plenty to give you that night. Partly for stress relief. It's a good way to get his mind off something that is bothering him. You have caught him a few times. Walking in on him with some sort of porn on, his eyes closed and his hips thrusting up into his fist. It's gotten common enough at this point that you think he might like it when you catch him. Especially if you start teasing him about how needy he is. He always cums really quickly when you playfully scold him about jerking off when all he had to do was ask for your pussy and he could have had the real thing. He jerks off the most when one of you is away on a mission. In these instances he's almost always thinking of you and how he'd much rather be in bed with you moaning underneath him than stuck God knows where dealing with idiots.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
Praise kink. He wants to hear how good he feels. How good he's making you feel. How big his cock is. How well he fucks you. He wants you to tell him he's pretty and that you want him more than you've ever wanted anymore. If you tell him he's a good boy he will practically spontaneously combust. He can almost cum just from your praise alone. He just wants to be loved and told he's enough, both in and out of the bedroom.
Breeding kink. He also didn't really consider this to be a kink necessarily until you mentioned it. Humans are supposed to procreate, right? Isn't everyone turned on by the idea of breeding their partner? He didn't really dirty talk that much until you started encouraging him to say those thoughts out loud. Now, there are days where all he can think about is knocking you up. How sexy you would look with a pregnant belly and swollen breasts. Talking about cumming in you over and over until you are leaking him for days and your body has no choice but to give him a kid.
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
Not a fan of PDAs, so he definitely prefers the bedroom. He's not opposed to other places for quickies, though. He likes being in a safe place with you where he can really let his guard down. Let his mind and body relax and indulge. The place he's most comfortable doing that is in one of your bedrooms. He also really likes to cuddle after sex, but he will never admit it out loud. That's much easier to play off as “making you comfortable” in bed. That being said if one of you, or both of you, have been on a long mission he's not opposed to fucking you the first place he can get you alone. Especially if he's still wearing his suit, as we discussed earlier. At least one team member has almost walked in on you in a closet or bathroom or something. There was also an incident on the jet that made Yelena consider pouring bleach in her eyes.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Praise and genuine affection. At this point, he's so used to everybody either taking the piss out of him or treating him like dirt. If you actually treat him kindly he'll follow you like a puppy. He's not used to soft things anymore, and it makes his mind spin a little when you don't immediately start making jokes at his expense. We've all agreed this man desperately craves praise both in and out of the bedroom. If you want to get him going, all you have to do is hold him close and whisper in his ear how sexy he looks or how good he did on a mission or in an interview. If you think to call him Captain or Agent, his knees will go a little wobbly. I also think he's a very visual guy. So you in his shirt or any sort of lingerie, doesn't matter if it's something fancy or just a silky nightie, will get his blood flowing south pretty quickly
N = No (something they wouldn’t do, turn offs)
Swinging or watching you with someone else is a non-starter. This man can get very possessive. He doesn't even like it when someone else flirts with you, even if its a mutual friend. He sure as shit isn't gonna let someone else fuck you. I also see him as being a pretty faithful guy. I dont even think hes the kind of guy who would be into strip clubs if he has a hot woman he loves waiting at home. He doesn't want anyone else so the idea of swinging is a hard pass. He would feel like he was cheating even if it was something you both agreed to. He's not very kinky. So I see a lot of freakier stuff being a turn off for him. Handcuffs and spanking? He'll figure it out. Whips and chains or full on BDSM? Nope. Not for him. Also not a fan of weapons play in the bedroom. That's a part of his life he'd rather keep separate from sexy time. I don't think he'd be into exhibitionism or voyeurism either. Unless it's just you and him watching each other. That he can get into.
O = Oral (preference in giving or receiving, skill, etc.)
If you ask him, he'll definitely tell you he prefers to be the one receiving. He loves how you work him so well. How manly he feels when you are on your knees focusing on his pleasure. He loves when you moan around his cock like he's the most delicious treat you've ever had. He's particularly sensitive when you start licking and sucking on his balls. He can't keep himself from fucking your throat when you look up at him while you take his whole cock in your mouth and suck.
However, the way he eats your pussy, you have a sneaking suspicion he actually prefers to be the one giving. His eyes never leaving your cunt and his mouth working overtime to bring you to climax. He wants you pulling his hair and grinding against his face. It's not uncommon for him to leave hickeys on your inner thighs almost every time you have sex. He gets so into it he ends up humping the bed more often than not. For a guy who says he's not that crazy about eating pussy, he eats it like his life depends on it.
P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
Let's just say if you share a wall with anyone, you will be hearing a lot of complaints from them. On occasion, he can be slow and romantic. Long and deep thrusts. Talking to you the whole time. Fingers interlocked with yours. Lots of kissing. More often, though the super soldier serum and the way he tends to hold onto his emotions leads to rougher sex or at the very least faster thrusting on his part. He gets too into it to be slow. Even if he tries to start slow, by the end the bedframe is creaking, and the drywall behind the headboard is starting to crumble. He's broken at least one bedframe so far, and he's stupidly proud of it. You were slightly mortified when you had to explain to Val how your bed had been completely demolished and that you needed a new one. Perhaps a reinforced one. John just sat there with a big stupid grin on his face the whole time. Also, as mentioned in my headcanons, this has led to a bruised cervix at least once or twice. Or, at the very least, you are walking and sitting very awkwardly for a couple of days.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
He's absolutely down for a quickie. Especially since with the serum, he's good to go for multiple rounds. At the start of your relationship, he's pretty insatiable. So quickies are a must. If you are alone on a mission together, as soon as the work is done he's pulling you away for a quickie. He does generally prefer not to have to rush his time with you, but he will absolutely never turn down a quickie. Especially if he's a bit upset or frustrated, a quickie is a great way to get him in a better mood. The team immediately calls on you when he's being extra bitchy. He does tend to get a really dopey smile on his face afterward that always gives it away to anyone who knows him though.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
He's not opposed to trying some new things, but he does like being in his comfort zone and knowing exactly what is going to happen. This is part of why he leans towards constantly being the dominant one. He will try new positions without any hesitation. New surfaces? It depends on where they are and the variables around privacy. Toys or role-playing or anything he'll have a little bit more hesitation with, and you will probably need to bring them up multiple times before he agrees to try them. Eventually, he will probably give in. Especially if the role play you want to do is him as a star quarterback and you as a cheerleader. He also won't take the risk of sex interfering with a mission. Even if it's just the two of you alone in a secluded safe house, he won't give into his urges or yours until the work is done. Once the mission is completed, he'll take you the first chance he gets, but he takes too much pride in his job to let anything else come first.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
He's a super soldier. His stamina is off the charts. He doesn't necessarily worry about making each round last a long time because he knows he will be able to go multiple. It's also probably the first time he's really getting to test what the serum has done to him in the bedroom. Somedays, he's probably gonna wanna test how many rounds he can go. Somedays, he's gonna wanna see how long he can last before cumming. He isn't gonna push you past your limits though. Once you tap out he's probably done. He'd rather save the energy for you than exert it by himself when he could be taking care of you… unless you really want him to. We know he is probably very eager to please. You want to watch him or talk him through what you want him to do, he'll put on the best show for you he can. That happens fairly often, actually.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
He knows you have them, and he's not gonna stop you from using them, but he's not crazy about them. If he's on a mission, then sure, go ahead and use them on yourself. Especially if you are thinking about him while using them. He knows that he shouldn't be threatened by them, and he's slowly coming around to your bullet vibrator. Especially after you showed him you could use it on him during a blowjob. He still generally lets you be the one to bring it up, and you be the one holding it. Anything bigger or more phallic he's still not sure about. We know he has insecurities around being enough. That would apply to comparing himself to your toys too. If you have a realistic looking dildo he doesn't really want to know about it, even if it's to send him a naughty video while he's away. Maybe someday, a part of his brain is very curious, but he's more worried about how he will start to compare himself to the toy after he sees you cumming from it.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
He does like to tease. He gets off on you begging for him. He needs you to nerd him. So he will tease you until you are pleading for him. Biting and licking at your thighs and the creases of your hips until you are gripping his hair and trying to push his face into your cunt. Letting his fingers dance around your clit without making direct contact or circling your entrance painfully slowly. Using just the tip of his cock until you are writhing and crying for more. His patience for being teased is not great though. Sometimes he loves it, but if he's having a bad day he will pout and whine if you try to tease him. Ultimately reminding you that he is a super soldier and can stop your little game whenever he wants. You know when he says this he's giving you a warning that he's at the end of his rope.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Just like when he fights, there's lots of grunting, growling, and snarling during sex. Baring his teeth when he gets close to climax. He doesn't even realize all the noises he's making when he gets really into it. He will also encourage you to praise him at every turn. Asking if something he's doing feels good or if you like how he feels inside you. He's not a screamer, but he's certainly not quiet in the bedroom. He loves hearing you talk to him during sex. So he may not talk at length, but he will encourage you to be as elaborate and filthy as you can. Give him directions and feedback. Overwhelm all of his senses. Make him forget everything but how he's making you feel with every deep thrust of his cock or lick of his tongue.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
Would absolutely love his partner to do a striptease for him or give him a lap dance. This man craves attention. Having all your attention on him as you put on a naughty little show for him is a dream come true. The thought of you slowly taking off your clothes and wiggling around naked in his lap just for his enjoyment makes him downright giddy. It's an extra boost to his ego if you get aroused and wet doing this for him. He won't really ask you to do this for him, but he will be happy as a clam if you come up with the idea. If you take a pole dance class with the girls for shits and giggles, he will ask to see what you learned with a cheeky grin on his face. He knows you can't say no when he smiles at you like that. Although be warned, there is no way he's keeping his hands to himself during the lap dance portion. At the very least, he's gripping onto your hips or fondling your breasts. By the end of the song, he'll probably have his fingers inside you.
X = X-ray (let’s see what’s going on under those clothes)
The serum didn't really change much here. He didn't completely change size like Steve or get a ton more muscle mass like Bucky. When he's soft, he's the same size he always was. Average. It's not huge, but not small. Like most men, he probably wishes he was a little bigger, but he's not unhappy with it. He was pleasantly surprised the first time he got hard after taking the serum that he was about an inch longer and a bit thicker than he was before. I definitely think he has measured to confirm this. He knows that you don't know that the serum did this, but it's probably come up during foreplay that you are getting the bigger post-serum version of him. You tell him you would have been happy with either version, but he's really proud of it now. He also leaks a lot more pre-cum now than he used to. It has made his alone time better, no need for extra lube, and if you like it, he's even happier about it. Bringing your hand to stroke him through his underwear. Ready to have you feel how wet you get him. How much you turn him on.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
I feel like he's got massive pent-up energy and has probably been denying himself a lot of things since the events of Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Sex and human touch in general included. I think it's gonna be like shaking a soda can then popping the top. He's literally going to explode once you ceack the seal. He will not be able to get enough. Between his super soldier stamina and all the repressed emotions and energy, you'll be spending a lot of time with him inside you. You are an outlet for his emotions. After one or both of you has been on a mission plan on keeping your schedule completely open for the next day. He feels like he's borderline addicted to fucking you.
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
It takes him a while to fall asleep. He also sometimes has nightmares about his experiences as a soldier. So even when he's asleep, it's not necessarily restful. He will always wait until you fall asleep before he lets himself fall asleep. He just feels like he can protect you better that way. Holding you however you need him to and just lay there thinking about things. Sometimes, he gets too into his own head to sleep. He likes having some sort of background noise on. Usually some movie or sitcom. Sometimes, he will just lay there and watch you sleep, the tempo of your breathing like a metronome lulling him to sleep himself. He does generally sleep more soundly if you are there next to him. I can also see him being a giant teddy bear who likes to cuddle you close as he falls asleep and when he wakes up. There have been times you've woken up unable to move because a certain super soldier has you pinned to the mattress in his sleep.

You need to see the vision him in his neon vest sweaty and tired coming home to his work from home office girly girlfriend I can't decide if the dynamic is "let me shower you demon" and feral y/n or "go shower you stink" and "no I want a goddamn kiss"
I'm on such a tomura shigaraki kick lately I'm loving the job fair and the new tomura content and as always you're fucking amazing ruru 🙏🙏🫐
highkey i was so excited for this LMAO i needed something silly sooooo baaddd hi blooby this is damn near a self insert bc i am Pro Shower First or get hosed down in the front lawn
garbage man!tomura // job fair
event m.list

as you hear the door swing open and hit the wall behind it, you suddenly have the thought that you should’ve locked yourself in another room until you heard the shower running.
“tomu?” you call out from the kitchen.
there’s a brief moment of silence. you try to hear for clothes dropping onto the floor- hopeful that he’d listen to you and just leave his work uniform to be dealt with later. he’d get his kiss and everyone would be happy.
then he steps around the corner. uniform on, vest and gloves slung over his shoulder, and hair pulled up into a messy ponytail.
“no,” you warn, moving around the kitchen island for the distance.
“are you fucking serious right now?” he whines, moving around the island in which you proceed to follow around, leaving you two on opposing sides.
he gives you a deadpan expression, unbelieving of this cat and mouse game you’ve set up for yourselves in your kitchen.
“i told you i was,” you groaned, “i don’t want to kiss you right now. go shower and then i will after.”
“I just got off an eight hour shift. physical labor. in the sun. i deserve a kiss.”
you nod your head, “yes i agree, and i’ll give you a really good one when you’re clean.”
tomura is tempted to throw a glove in your direction and see how quickly you’d scurry away, but he could already see your fingertips twitching for the sink’s hose if he made any sudden movements.
you two are stuck in a staring contest for a minute, waiting for the other to make the next move.
“just a kiss.”
“no.”
“hold your fucking breath if you have to,” he exasperated.
“take off your clothes.”
a beat of silence passes between you two.
tomura presses his lips together in a tight line. normally with a request like that, he doesn’t have to be asked twice, but with the current circumstances and how much you’ve irritated him today before even getting home from work, you’re at a standstill.
“come take them off for me,” he taunts.
you narrow your eyes at him as he shrugs his vest and gloves to the ground. tomura holds his arms out for you, motioning for you to come closer with a shit-eating smirk on his face knowing that he knows exactly how to lure you in.
you pout.
your boyfriend is a hard worker. he has to deal with your antics. he’s tired. he just wants some love.
you slowly move your way around the kitchen island, and let yourself touch his outreached hands. you interlock your fingers with his at arm's length, hoping that this bit of physical touch is enough to satiate him.
“is this good enough?” you mutter.
“yeah.” he smirks, “this is good.”
tomura’s grip tightens. you feel him tense up, but his smile never leaves his face. he suddenly jerks you into him in one movement that almost makes you trip over yourself. in a second, you’re engulfed into his arms, tightly held chest to chest, and locked in an embrace that leaves you screaming.
“looks like you’re getting in the shower with me,” he mutters in between your wails.

random ZoeYstery HCs 3 ✧ KPOP demon hunters ✧ Zoey x Mystery
✧ They’re the worst couple ever when it comes to PDA
✧ Once they’re together and he has her by his side almost all the time, Mystery is just. constantly touching her. mostly without even realizing it.
✧ His hand finds hers to link their hands or wrap his fingers around her wrist, he wraps his arm around her shoulders or her waist, he slouches and walks behind her with his chin resting on top of her head
✧ He doesn’t particularily care if it makes walking weird, as long as he’s holding her. She doesn’t seem to mind either.
✧ It feels natural, so he just does it. That was how he was accustomed to living beforehand. He’s still not used to having desires, let alone pushing them down
✧ Mystery would literally carry her everywhere if she would let him.
✧ If she ever mentions her feet hurt, or her legs are tired, or even asks how much longer they had to walk, he’s already crouched down on the ground and silently gesturing for her to get on his back before she even finishes her sentence
✧ He walks extra slow when he’s giving her a piggy back. Sometimes he even purposefully takes a wrong turn so they have to take a longer route
✧ On his back was like being in a car for Zoey. She barely paid attention to the surroundings, resting her chin on his shoulder and talking at him about whatever came to mind
✧ When she does realize it, she doesn’t particularily care. It just makes her squeeze him tighter and hide her face in his shoulder to try and keep her blush in check
✧ If Mystery isn’t carrying Zoey then he’s carrying her purse, her drink, her bag, whatever she has with her.
✧ He really wants to be helpful to her, the way she was always being with him
✧ She feels really guilty in the beginning for making him be her mule, carrying around her and her stuff. But every time she asked if he minded, he shook his head no without any hesitation
✧ She’s finally convinced that it’s fine when she looks over at Mystery’s face one day while on his back and caught him smiling with his teeth. It was the first time she was even seeing them.
✧ From then on she was more than happy to accept his offer or even purposefully complain about walking just so he’d do it even more
✧ If Zoey comes into a room when he’s doing something and has his back to her, she immediately thinks of ways to be a menace
✧ Among Zoey’s arsenal was; coming up and sticking a wet finger in his ear, tiptoe really close and try to scare him (which she keeps trying even though it never works), and breaking into a sprint to throw herself on his back
✧ Sure she could go up and hug him or give him a kiss, but she saved that for when he noticed her.
✧ Mystery could actually always hear her footsteps when she came into the room.
✧ Originally he always turned around, but as soon as he realized that she was attempting to sneak up on him, he started keeping his back to her and pretending he didn’t notice her presence
✧ Every single time she grins at him and smugly says that she ‘got him’
✧ Oh she’s got him alright. Got him wrapped around her finger, whipped, ready to kill or die for her. he was pretty sure she wouldn’t let him do that last one a second time, but he’s still willing and that’s what matters
✧ Yeah, she did in fact still date him even after telling him he was her type and then slitting his throat and sending him back to hell (briefly). Don’t worry about it. He thought it was hot.
✧ He physically cannot stop himself from glaring at anyone who looks at Zoey for too long or gets in her personal space. For the latter, if they weren’t in an excessively public place, he’d still bark
✧ Mystery’s jealousy is much more about being the direct object of Zoey’s attention at a given moment, rather than some sort of fear of her leaving him for someone else or being ‘taken’
✧ He wants her to always be looking at him, paying attention to him, noticing him. The way he always was doing the same with her.
✧ It takes a lot of time for him to understand the way she expresses herself and her emotions, but Zoey is patient and happy to explain it to someone so eager to actually listen
✧ One day it’s like it clicks, when she points in a store window bouncing with excitement at a dessert he knew full well she hated and he loved
✧ He passes the entire night just looking back through their memories together, picking out what had initially seemed like minor moments and finding traces of Zoey’s adoration around every corner
✧ She wakes up to him staring at her intently. She jumps a bit and almost falls out of bed, he manages to hold her tight enough to stop her
✧ He didn’t even wish her good morning, didn’t even give her the time to wake up properly. The first words out of his mouth once he was sure she was conscious enough to be aware of him were “I love you”
✧ She can’t stop herself from burying her face in a pillow and kicking her feet, muffled giggles making her shoulders shake

MANCHILD ⋆。°✩ lee heeseung

( WHY YOU ALWAYS COME RUNNING TO ME ) ── ex boyfriend!! lee heeseung x fem! reader
synopsis: in which you awkwardly cross paths with your ex-boyfriend. and for him to pick up a desperate phone call when you needed it the most (read part one here)
fic notes: ex boyfriend! lee heeseung x fem! reader, suggestive language, cursing, angst, a little bit of reconciliation, very slowburn interactions
kiara's notes: due to popular demand, y'all asked for a part two. y'all can thank my bestie @nocturnebite for actually helping me come up with a happy segway into this story because i was prolly gonna make it more angsty lmao. if this needs a part three —feel free to yell at me (it prolly does)
word count: 2.7k
his phone number blocked, the pictures of you both ripped in two and thrown in the trash. every memory of his face, of his lips kissing your skin, his laughter ringing in your ear —erased, deleted, gone. that was the end of the chapter between you and lee heeseung. and perhaps it was better off that way.
it had been months since you had last spoken to him. while you promised yourself that it was't a big deal, the hole in your heart was begging to be filled, replaced with someone else. it took some motivation to get yourself out of bed, to try going out to clubs, to put makeup on and make yourself presentable in public. he had made you an emotional train wreck, which meant dragging your shaky feet out on the ground to find the confidence that had seemingly left your body the day that he shattered your heart into a million pieces.
and while the confidence returned —your luck with finding a better boy to date seemed physically impossible. no literally. the saying "there are other fish in the sea," must have been a lie. because the men on your dating apps, the men that approached you at clubs, were absolutely horrendous in every way possible. that's not to say that they weren't attractive (in fact, many of them were drop dead gorgeous) but you could spot their imperfections from the first date.
if heeseung had done one thing right, it was for your eyes to be open to the men that would sit in front of you. from the way they ate their pasta to the way they would snake an arm around your waist. the attention to detail made it so easy for you to reject another date, you didn't want to pursue another romantic relationship if they were going to be the same as your ex-boyfriend. but the one thing that lee heeseung had cursed you with was the magnetization. no matter where you went, you were always attracting the same type of men. the "man child" and it was fucking annoying.
they were the ones that played hard to get, the ones that like to linger and make you squirm in your seat wondering if you were going to be given the chance to go on a second date. the ones who promised to pick you up for dinner at seven only for you to be sitting in your living room almost an hour later, wondering when they would show up. the ones who talked passionately about their own hobbies without even batting an eye when you spoke on your success. you don't know what you did to attract such a form of men —but it was completely exhausting.
you prayed that they would be different. so maybe that's why you found yourself getting ready for another date. another dude from another dating app you were on. he didn't seem like a "man child" (but that was just your optimism speaking). and yet, you found yourself waiting in the lobby of your apartment, looking at the hands on your watch tick forward. he was late —of course he was.
"you look nice,"
his voice was unexpected. like a random bolt of lightning striking a clear summer day. it immediately took you out of your bored dazed as you looked up to see him staring at you. how many months had it been since you'd see his face? how many times had you spent trying to block him out of your head? surely, this was a figment of your imagination —but the tiny smile that touched his lips professed that the man standing in front of you was real.
"um thanks," you awkwardly replied, feeling your cheeks turn pink as you politely accepted his compliment.
the silence that between the two of you was as thick as a slice of texas toast. after all, what was there to say? how could you casually strike up a conversation with someone who casually threw your heart to the side?
"are you going on a date?"
"something like that, if he's planning on showing up," you scoffed as you looked down at your phone. no new messages, brilliant.
"how are things with your going with your girlfriend?" you asked in a desperate attempt to change the subject. you were mentally begging that your date could show up any minute now to save you from the jaws of the awkward conversation you were forced to be in.
"we broke up,"
great, so much for making the conversation less awkward.
what were you supposed to say? "i'm sorry that you two broke up?" you weren't. in fact, there was some form of satisfaction knowing that things with his ex-girlfriend didn't work out again. and yet, you found yourself awkwardly shifting in your chair praying that some sort of words could slip out of your lips to answer heeseung.
"oh..."
"...yeah,"
as much as you were curious to know why the relationship had ended. you had no choice but to plant a tiny smile on your lips and let out a sigh of relief as your phone screen lit up. saved by the bell-ish. the likelihood of this date being better than your previous ones seemed unlikely but it was better than spending any more time with heeseung. those were minutes you were never going to get back.
"well, that's my date," you said as you got up from your seat and smoothed out your dress. for a minute, you could have sworn that there was a tiny grimace on his face when he heard those words slip out of your lips. but it was almost immediately replaced with a faint smile. it had to be your imagination.
"it was nice seeing you heeseung,"
and with a polite smile, you walked out of the lobby with confidence in your footsteps, masking the sinking pit of anxious feelings that swirled in your stomach. you had a date to worry about and yet, he was there crawling his way back into your mind like a parasite.
it had been so long since you'd last seen him. so why out of all places did you have to see him now? more importantly, what was he doing in the lobby of your apartment building?
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
your date was going horribly. not much of a surprise there. after being picked up forty minutes late, your date reeked of cologne. not that his cologne smelt bad, but it was like the man practically bathed in it. he was chivalrous enough to open the car door for you —that was about it. he chewed with his mouth open, he would constantly interrupt you when you had anything to say, and let's not forget how his phone wasn't silenced so you could hear the tinder notification constantly beeping on his phone.
you couldn't even keep track of what he was talking about. you were just waiting for the bill at this point. you were already planning on calling an uber instead of letting him drop you back at your place. the last thing you needed was his lips covered in pasta sauce trying to kiss you —ew.
"well, this has been a fun date but i should probably go home now," you started to say as you watched the waiter place the bill down in front of you. your date didn't even pay attention to what you had said, he took one glance at the bill and looked back up at you.
"aren't you going to pay?" he asked.
"excuse me?"
that was a quick slap to the face. now he was really racking up the points for being the worst date you've had. picking a fancy ass restaurant and expecting you to pay? of course, you should have picked up the sign sooner. there was a card on the dashboard of the car he picked you up in that was from some car rental business. he decided to pay for the most expensive bottle of wine and gorge himself on an expensive plate of food. great, another man child.
"i asked you out on the date, the least you can do is pay for the food," he replied casually while wiping the pasta sauce off of his chin.
"you've got to be fucking kidding me. is this what you do to all women that you take out on a date? order the most expensive meal and expect them to pay for it?" you snapped as you glared daggers at you date.
the fact that he didn't say anything made things even more upsetting. all he did was blink at you, as if you should have known this was how the date was supposed to go. "look, it's not that big of a deal. besides, i promise i'll make it up to you once we head back to your place," he said as he tried to place his hand on top of yours.
"oh really? is that what you think is going to happen? that i'm invite you back to back to my place and i'm gonna let you fuck with that tiny thing you call a penis?" you grit your teeth before getting up from your seat.
"go call your parents and ask them to help pay for your meal," you said as you opened your purse and threw some cash down in front of him. "here's my half of the bill," you added on before walking out of the restaurant, leaving behind your date jaw dropped and confused.
you stepped out of the restaurant into the darkened sky. the only thing lighting up the world in front of you were the city lights and the billboards that illuminated advertisements of happy smiling faces beaming in fluorescent colours in front of you.
while you should have felt relieved that you called it quits with that dude that just wanted to get in the sheets, there was something about this date that was the last straw. they were all the same, all of the dates that you had been on were just stupid men seeing you as another way to get their body count up. it was fucking disgusting. you craved the romantic life, you begged to be loved again, you wanted—
—and in that moment, your impulsiveness took over. you found yourself fishing your phone out of your purse, your hand going to the settings, clicking on a blocked phone number that you had memorized by heart, and pressing the call button.
you paced around in circles. a thousand thoughts accumulating in your head as you continued to hear the phone ring in your ear. until you heard his voice on the other line.
"hey, do you think you can pick me up?"
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
the car ride was completely silent. no questions asked, no small talk to be made, just you two sitting with the radio as ambience to fill the void that was between the two of you. you didn't think he was going to answer, let alone pick you up. yet, you found yourself in the same car with your ex-boyfriend, with lee heeseung, the man you swore you never wanted to see in a million years —all because some stupid date went horribly wrong.
for the first time in a while, you felt like you could actually breathe. like you could sit back and pause in a world that was constantly moving. or maybe it was because you were in a car with someone that you had once been vulnerable with, someone that you had completely poured your heart and soul to. whatever the reason, you were able to rest your head on the side of the window and relax in the passenger seat.
"so, do you want to talk about what happened?" there it was. the moment that you weren't necessarily dreading, but knew that was going to happen. it was only a matter of time before he was going to confront you about the situation. or why you decided to call him up out of all people.
"not really," you muttered. you refused to make eye contact with him. one look into those doe-like eyes and hating him was a lost cause. you couldn't give in to him that easily.
"it's just, all of these dates that i've been going on are awful," you started as you finally moved your head away from the window and turned to look at him. "i mean, every guy i've been going out with these past couple of months have been the same. i'm so sick of attracting men that act like children!" you groaned as you threw your hands up into the air.
heeseung only chuckled as you finally started opening up to him again. there was something about seeing your face getting all red and flustered that made his heart skip a beat. he wanted to tell you, he needed to tell you—
"—he asked me to pay for the meal, hee. the dude literally ordered the most expensive meal on the menu and expected that i was going to pay—"
"—you called just me hee,"
you paused and turned to look at heeseung who was staring directly at you. thankfully you two were at a red light, so it wasn't like any car was going to come crashing into you but still. the nickname had slipped out of your tongue so casually that you didn't even notice yourself say it. but he did.
you didn't say anything to him after that. it was an instant "keep your lips" quiet moment after that. he caught you slipping once, you weren't going to let it happen again. so when he drove into the parking garage of your apartment complex you couldn't help but eagerly take off your seatbelt.
"well, thanks for the ride," you said already moving to open the car door. but before you could make a swift exit, heeseung was already out of the car, outside opening the door for you.
what was this feeling that was swelling up in your chest? you should be hating him right now. yet, you didn't shoo him away when he started to walk with you up to your apartment. he didn't say anything, just had his hands in his pockets, keeping his eye out for anyone that seemed suspicious. it was the tiny things that made your heart continue to skip a beat, even when you knew that you shouldn't.
"you know you didn't need to walk me to my door," you said as you fished your keys out of your purse.
"i know, i just figured that maybe it would save you from any other creeps trying to hit on you," he replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
"i appreciate it, heeseung. thanks for picking me up tonight. i honestly didn't think that you were going to pick up the phone,"
"well i'm glad i did. i've missed talking to you,"
you could only nod and smile at his comment. and then came the awkwardness that you two were so familiar with. it's not like you could give him a hug, or the usual kiss on the cheek when you first started dating. you two were just strangers, exes that picked up the phone for one small favour. nothing more nothing less.
"have a good night, heeseung,"
"sweet dreams,"
and while you watched him walk down the hallway as you stepped into your apartment, your stomach was greeted with the same pit of butterflies fluttering around. you shook your head, you couldn't fall for him again, that would mean neglecting everything that he had done. the way that he had taken your heart, smashed it into a million pieces and left you lying trying to fix everything he had broken.
but he answered your phone call.
you watched him turn the corner, a sigh escaping your lips before you closed the door behind you. now was not the time to catch feelings for the man that had cursed you to find every "man child" in the city. now was not the time to fill the hole in your heart with the same man who inflicted the damage you were trying to fix.
but everything about that night had brought back the tiny spark that you had put out so long. the wave of emotions coming back like a tide the more you played them over in your head. and so you went to bed with a confused head and a stomach swirling with butterflies.
he had left you once before. but he came back.
if only he never answered your phone call at all.

We couldn’t catch a carriage after work, so we were walking down the street at night.
(The moon’s so pretty tonight…..)
Reflecting on the Thames, the moon is a perfectly round, soft, creamy color.
The cool night breeze paired with the lovely moon made me feel both refreshed, and my steps lighter.
Not long after, I was walking a step ahead of Jude.
Jude: Ain’t helpin’ ya if take a tumble.
Kate: Pff- Yes, I know.
Having said that, I know that if I really do fall, he’ll help me.
Jude: ……Kate.
Kate: Yeah? Oh!
When I turned at my name being called, something was suddenly tossed to me.
The character for “to thow” is used. However, it can also mean “to toss.” Given the distance from each other and the setting, I feel like toss is more appropriate than throw.
Kate: What’s with the random box?
Jude looked more serious than usual.
Jude: Just open it.
Sensing that something was out of the ordinary, I gingerly opened the box given to me, and found a silver ring inside—
Kate: Jude, what is this….
When I looked up in shock, he appeared exasperated.
Jude: Daft princess, dont’cha get what it means?
Kate: Huh?
Jude: Guess not. Yer a perverted masochist who doesn’t know when to quit, who keep’s comin’ at me, ‘n who’s so foolish it makes me wanna weep.
Kate: Why are you saying mean things about me?!
However, he was looking straight at me, so his insults didn’t even register.
Jude: But yer the only one I have.
The night breeze passes between us, leaving space for one person.
Jude: Ya didn’t ridicule my dream about goin’ to the moon, ‘n ya accepted us cursin’ each other.
Jude: Yer the only woman who can laugh like an idiot, ‘n keep her resolve.
The moonlight shone upon us like we were the only ones in the universe.
Jude: My mind’s been made up since the day I started goin’ steady with ya.

Jude: To give ya my last name. Marry me, Kate.
His words strike my heart, warming my entire being and causing tears to well up in my eyes.
While I was unable to contain my sobs any longer, Jude gave me the most gentle smile I’d ever seen.
Jude: S’what’s it gonna be, Kate.
I nodded repeatedly as I wiped away my tears.
Still, they start pouring again as I clutched the ring and cried out.
Kate: Please make me your wife, Jude!
He laughed at my weepy reply.
Jude: That’s damn fine answer.
He hugged me, smiled as he wiped away my tears and kissed me—
The morning after the happy proposal, I was taking a walk while staring at the engagement ring when Ellis appeared.
Ellis: Oh, that’s...
Kate: Oh, this is...
Ellis smiled before bringing up Jude.
The line literally reads, “Ellis smiled before speaking to Jude.” However, Jude isn’t present at the time as you’ll see in the line below, and he never directly speaks to Jude, so I opted to translate the line this way.
Ellis: Jude finally gave it to you. Congratulations, Kate.
Kate: ….Finally?
As I tilt my head, Ellis whispers.
Ellis: Jude’s been preparing to give you a ring for a long time now Kate.
Kate: What…..
In astonishment I try to look at the ring again, but a hand reaches out from behind and hugs me.
Jude: The hell ya blabberin’ on about.
When Jude appeared, Ellis grinned and silently waved his hand as he walked away.
(So he’s been getting this ready for a long time….)
Jude: What’cha smilin’ fer?
Kate: Heh…..
As I smiled at the surprising fact I just learned, he grabbed my cheeks and forced me to look up.
His amethyst eyes were annoyed, but still looked at me lovingly.
(Yeah….I’m so hopelessly in love with this guy.)
I wanted to tell him just how much I love him.
Kate: Jude, I love you.
Kate: I’ll love you forever.
In both lines, Kate uses “大好き” (Daisuki), which means to “like very much.” It is holds a lot of affection, and is more commonly used to express love.
He blinked in surprise at my declaration and then instantly changed his expression.
Jude: I love you.
Jude uses the kanji “愛” (Ai). If you don’t know this is a HUGE thing to say….especially for him. It also means "I love you", but it's used very rarely. Typically only for special occasions such as proposals, weddings, deathbeds, that sort of thing. It carries the weight of unconditional or sacrificial love, and loving for the other person’s sake.
Smiling softly, he kissed my lips.
To fulfill our promise to curse each other until the very end—
I will live with you.
