wow, some big name drops at the bottom of the second column! what a wonderful find! thank you to carolynn!
The stuff in Gabriel’s box that Crowley dumps out to read the bottom..was that stuff Gabriel brought back from Heaven that Aziraphale wasn’t a high enough rank to see..but Crowley can? Or just random insignificant bookshop stuff. Aziraphale almost looks confused when Crowley dumps it out
Hiya! :) Those were bookshop things Aziraphale put there bc he started using it as just a box :). But they are actually quite interesting :D.
In the Good Omens book there is (with Bilton and Scaggs being publisher next door to Aziraphale):
Bilton and Scaggs' second great publishing disaster occurred in 1653. By a stroke of rare good fortune they had obtained one of the famed "Lost Quartos"—the three Shakespeare plays never reissued in folio edition, and now totally lost to scholars and playgoers. Only their names have come down to us. This one was Shakespeare's earliest play, The Comedie of Robin Hoode, or, The Forest of Sherwoode. *The other two are The Trapping of the Mouse, and Golde Diggers of 1589.*
Master Bilton had paid almost six guineas for the quarto, and believed he could make nearly twice that much back on the hardcover folio alone.
Then he lost it.
In the box on the left you can see the two plays that has been lost to the publisher neighbour (*cough*StolenByAziraphale*cough*? :D).
The second document I'm a bit confused about :D.
New Cumnock,

...from the Trustees of the late John Gibson, Post:

John Gibson
Some kind of last will? I found a Jonh Gibson from New Cumnock but still don't know the connection to Aziraphale? :)🤔
@neil-gaiman could you shed light on this please? :) ❤

Business Biographies I like
I enjoy reading swashbuckling tales of business adventure. Ideally autobiographies and biographies of business people, but any swashbuckling business story is good.
Here are some autobiographies and biographies I enjoyed a lot:
Grinding it Out, by Ray Kroc. Great read about the guy who effectively founded McDonalds. He founded McDonalds in his 50s.
Made in America, by Sam Walton. About the creation of Wal-Mart.
Shoe Dog, by Phil Knight. About the creation of Nike.
Made in Japan, by Akio Morita. The first half about the founding of Sony is good. The second half about trade relations between Japan and the US was less interesting (for me).
Call me Ted, by Ted Turner. About Ted Turner’s business career, including the founding of CNN.
Built from Scratch, by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank. The first 2/3 about the founding of Home Depot is good.
Jack, by Jack Welch.
The Everything Store, by Brad Stone. About Amazon.
Elon Musk, by Ashlee Vance
Titan, by Ron Chernow. Great bio of Rockefeller and the entrepreneurial landscape of 1860's -1910s
Edison, by Matthew Josephson. Great prose and a great life to document.
Both Jobs biographies - the Isaacson one and the Schlender/Tetzeli one.
The Fish that Ate the Whale, by Rich Cohen. About Samuel Zemurray, who rose from nothing to control the banana trade from Central America into the U.S.
Pour your heart into it, by Howard Schultz - about the founding of Starbucks
Onward, by Howard Schultz. Schultz left Starbucks in the early 2000s because he was bored, and things started to go downhill with the company. He came back in 2008 and turned the company around. This is how he did it.
Hatching Twitter, by Nick Bilton
Netflixed, by Gina Keating. Interesting read about the battle between Blockbuster and Netflix.
Delivering Happiness, by Tony Hsieh
Business adventures, by John Brooks. Bill Gates says this is his favorite business book of all time. The prose is delightful and the business insight is excellent.
Once in Golconda, by John Brooks - this is a gripping read about the crash of 1929.- The Go-Go Years - this is about the heady economic decade of the 1960s
Losing My Virginity, by Richard Branson
The Autobiography of Andrew Carnegie, by Andrew Carnegie
Creativity, Inc, by Ed Catmull
Zero to One, by Peter Thiel
The Hard Thing About Hard Things, by Ben Horowitz

‘Relief’ road? No thanks.
If you want to stop the proposed ‘relief’ road through the Nidd Gorge area, complete the NYCC Harrogate Congestion Consultation survey and:
'Strongly disagree’ with Question 15: How strongly to you feel that we should construct a relief road between Harrogate and Knaresborough including a Killinghall Bypass to reduce congestion in Harrogate and Knaresborough?
Use the comments section at the end of the survey to propose better solutions, using your local knowledge. It is also possible to ask for a Park and Ride that is not linked to the relief road option.
Your voice matters, and you can make a difference. For more information, email [email protected].
Why should we all say ‘no’ to this road?
The ‘relief’ road has been put forward as a solution to Harrogate’s congestion problems, but it is more likely to make things worse.
The so-called ‘indicative route’ also shows that the Harrogate bypass would cross both the Nidd Gorge conservation area (part of the Woodland Trust) and the Nidderdale Greenway, and that the Killinghall bypass would cut across the Greenway a second time, destroying everything that makes this an oasis of tranquillity for wildlife and the thousands of walkers and cyclists who visit every week.
Harrogate area county councillors voted to drop the roads by 14-2, but key figures at North Yorkshire County Council ignored them and insisted on including them in the consultation. Harrogate and Knaresborough MP and Transport Minister Andrew Jones, said the road would attract more traffic and create ‘the north’s biggest rat-run’. See his full statement below.
More homes, more traffic
The road would potentially open up the area adjoining the route for the development of hundreds of new homes, on green belt land that is currently inaccessible. More homes will further add to local congestion.
A new road through in this peaceful haven for Harrogate residents will damage Bilton Fields and beyond, including parts of the Nidd Gorge conservation area - particularly the area upstream from where Bilton Beck joins the Nidd. The noise, and lack proper access to the Nidd Gorge, will be a huge loss to Harrogate residents and visitors.
The historic Nidd Gorge - once part of the royal hunting grounds - provides a habitat for a wonderful variety of trees, flowers and wildlife - including otters, deer, badgers and 80 bird species.
For more information, visit the Woodland Trust. https://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/visiting-woods/wood/4650/nidd-gorge/

The Nidd is home to 80 species of birds, including kingfishers.

Hey guys.I wanted to share my blog with you, which is just summaries of best selling business books. I think you can get value from it, if there’s a specific book you wanted to check out, but just didn’t have time to do it yet. Each summary takes 5-10 min to read. Picture of the Month – June 2017
This post Picture of the Month – June 2017 first appeared on The Wedding Community Blog
And the winner is… Andrew Craner Photography!
We now have half our finalists for our 2017 Picture of the Year competition, after this fun picture was voted our June 2017 Picture of the Month. Taken at Becky and Richard’s wedding in Warwickshire at the end of last year, Andrew told us how the shot came about…
Her Expression Says It All
“I knew Becky and Richard were on my wavelength when they asked if we could meet in a Pub for our first meeting. We got on instantly and they were every bit as relaxed and fun as I thought they would be on the day itself as well. It really was a joy to be their photographer.
“They married in December 2016 at St Marks Church in Bilton near Rugby, with their reception at the lovely Swallows Nest Barn near Warwick. That’s where this shot was taken.
“I wanted to do some fun shots with the bridal party before I took Becky and Richard away from it all for 10 minutes for some lovely, romantic portraits. I asked Becky how she felt about throwing her flowers into the air. She was instantly up for it but warned me she was a terrible catch!
“I think the expression on her face says it all to be honest! It’s one of my all-time favourite fun bridal party photos – superb!”

Bloomsday 2017

Many thanks to everyone who shared our Bloomsday odyssey this year. We were delighted to welcome the intrepid folk, newcomers and returners, who joined us at 8am for Bloom’s breakfast walk to the butcher’s shop and back.
Our Crosstown walk at about 9am passed some notable Joyce sites, including Mulligan’s pub in Poolbeg Street. This is the location of the arm-wrestling scene in the ‘Counterparts’ story in Dubliners, which was vigorously re-enacted, even at that early hour:

Our mid-morning walk from Westland Row drew a good and appreciative crowd, and together we tracked Bloom’s progress, heading to the post office and underneath the railway arches, with a moment of contemplation in the pews of St Andrew’s Church (Joyce re-names it All Hallows).
For our lunchtime walk, the gulls defied the wind on O’Connell Bridge, and swooped down just as Joyce describes, and we made our way to Duke Street and the buzz around Davy Byrne’s ‘moral pub’ - before heading towards the National Library and National Museum, with Bloom guiding the blind stripling across Dawson Street.
And we were delighted to welcome a sell-out crowd to Wynn’s Hotel for our evening performance of a new adaptation of the story ‘A Painful Case’ from Dubliners, followed by ‘The Dublin Horse Show’, which brought together many of the equine episodes from Ulysses. The annual Joyce session, with readings and songs from the floor, brought Bloomsday to a close, rounded off with a full-hearted communal rendition of Love’s Old Sweet Song.
This year’s performers were Paul O’Hanrahan, who adapted all our Bloomsday texts, Chris Bilton and musician John Goudie. Here’s to next year!

Y Combinator Community’s Top 300 Influencers
On the recommendation of Andrew Smith, I’ve been reading Chaos Monkeys by Antonio Garcia Martinez. It’s a great read about startups, Silicon Valley and in particular, Facebook.
Antonio’s own startup, Adgrok, was backed by Y Combinator. For anyone who doesn’t know, Y Combinator (YC) is a seed accelerator programme, arguably THE seed accelerator programme. YC has been described as “a spawning ground for emerging tech giants”. YC has invested in over 1,000 companies with $bn successes including Airbnb, Dropbox and Stripe.
Its network of alumni and investors therefore includes a significant number of influential members of the tech community. Search in LinkedIn and you will currently find 6,632 results.
So I thought it would be interesting to see who Lissted ranks as influential in relation to this community.
Y Combinator Top Influencers
I suspect the top few results are boringly predictable to anyone who knows YC. If that’s true it also means they must be accurate, and so likely to be immediately of use to someone who doesn’t.
#1 Sam Altman has been Y Combinator’s President since 2014.
#2 Y Combinator’s own account. Obvious you might say, but then I tried searching in a competing tool and it didn’t even appear in the top 40.
#3 Paul Graham, YC’s (probably best known) co-founder.
#4 Justin Kan, founder of Twitch (another YC success story) and partner at Y Combinator.
Influencers with a range of affinity to YC
In the full list of 300 below, accounts shown in blue are rated as having a strong affinity to the Y Combinator community.
These are often YC founders, team members and partners such as Jessica Livingston, Aaron Harris, Paul Buchheit or Kat Manalac and YC alumni including Airbnb’s Brian Chesky, Stripe’s John Collison and Mattermark’s Danielle Morrill. Antonio himself appears in this group.
The other influencers within the community rated as having a lower specific affinity range from celebrities and politicians such as Barack Obama, Donald Trump and the New York Times, technology ViPs including Elon Musk, Tim Cook and Bill Gates, required startup reading like Techcrunch and high profile investors like Chris Sacca, Hunter Walk and Mark Suster.
So, without further ado, here’s the full list. You can view full details on the Google sheet here.

Methodology
Lissted selected around 500 Twitter accounts assessed as relevant to Y Combinator from its database of 4.1 million potential influencers. It then analysed their network relationships and recent interactions, applying its own community algorithm, to establish the individuals and organisations that appear to matter most to this group.
