WOOOO back with my HellaVerse redesigns, this time, the queen of the Gluttony Ring: Beelzebub!!!

The original design was a bit pleasing, due to the cute colors, but she contradicted her lore...a lot. She could also be mistaken for Lust. Why is she a fox? What is the mohawk in front of her lava lamp hair? What are these clothes? In my rewrite, Bee is a shapeshifter, made of a swarm of flies and demonic honey. She typically takes the form of a wolverine/insect hybrid, since wolverines are typically associated with gluttony!! Fun fact, their scientific name, gulo gulo, is a wordplay on glutton!!! Her stomach can inflate/deflate, depending on her appetite, her hair is edible, but eating it gives you endless manic cravings for food and delusions. Bee is a party girl at heart and is typically hosting food fairs and gobbling up whatever. She likes to dance frequently and is obsessed with Gyaru fashion. I was inspired by Majin Buu and Android 21 from Dragon Ball as well, since they are both gluttonous characters with an endless food craving, and gave Bee one of their powers: the food beam!! Whenever Bee's henchmen are incompetent or she gets furious, she can turn them into food and eat them!!! She and Mammon are like siblings, and constantly have some form of rivalry. Both of them have eating contests to see which one eats more.

Her main inspirations were wolverines, bees, honeypot ants, bearded vultures, and houseflies. The gyaru outfit was inspired by @ezralovrr 's Bee.

Hero Form Appearance: A truly sweet combination of a candy princess and YuYuYu’s Hero Form outfits. The undersuit of the outfit is a jet black so the brighter colors can stand out, while the main outfit starts out a pudding yellow, and as you make your way towards the tailcoat, lower half of the sleeves, and the lower half of the top and lower half of the pants, it becomes a soft strawberry pink. The accent colors include black, red, blue, gold, gray, white, gold, silver, and bright pink. Meanwhile, the boots and opera gloves have patterns themed around the strawberry custard lily, and the only other accessory aside from Android 21’s glasses and earrings (Which remain unchanged) is a strawberry custard lily hairpin she wears in her hair. The flower’s petal shape can be seen in the tailcoat and collar- and keep in mind, this outfit doesn’t change when she’s in her Majin form- there’s even a space for her tail.

Bio: In one instance, 21 claims she was initially a Human-type Earthling, converted by Doctor Gero into an Android. As a human, she had a son with Dr. Gero who became the model for the design of Android 16. In another instance 21 notes that she is a new type of Bio-Android - superior to Cell - built in the image of a human female with the IQ of an adult, though she is not even ten years old - making her feel as though she missed out on her adolescence. Over time, the cells of numerous powerful warriors and intelligent researchers were added to her, with even the likes of Buu's cells being added to her. She states she has no memory of her apparent life as a human and often found it fun to imagine what her original name was and what her life was like. She did not know why Gero created her as a unique new type of Android different from the mecha-types (like 16) and the modified humans (like 17 and 18). Her good side did not know much about her creator (only referring to him as "the scientist") though she knew he was an evil person with great intelligence, though discussing him for some reason made her feel like crying; on the other hand, her evil side knew about Gero to an extent yet cared little for him or the Android built in her son's image, though this is likely due to her views that Androids have no need for loved ones and family.

the western dbz fandom has got to be the worst fandom ever

i just see people complaining that daima is not super and its like...i dont get it. its like being served a delicious burger and going "you know what, id rather actually just have a dog turd"

i think the u.s. starting with dbz irreparably damaged how the series is seen here; too many fans only care about the next multicolored transformation and nonsensical power progression because even though Dbz isn't that at all, without the adventurous setting and background that dragon ball introduced, that's how its seen.

dbz lampshades the whole transformation thing because even though it introduces a lot of them, super saiyan 1 is the only one that does any work for a majority of the series. the series final battle ENDS with goku going super saiyan 1 and throughout a lot of the series, its mastering that form that matters above all else. the others are either gimmicks and/or one offs. but i guess fans just took every transformation way too seriously.

and then super just...goes banana shoes with the transformations and completely shatters its own worldbuilding. you introduce the strongest character in the entire series with beerus at the very beginning. well..goku has to have a way to SORT of match him, so he gets super saiyan god. well now, youve introduced a huge problem. who could possibly stand up to goku at this point? he was already the strongest in the universe and now hes like a billion times stronger than that. well...you just introduce a bunch of new universes where lots of people are apparently that strong now, continuously and nonsensically increase the strength of beerus since they wrote themselves into a goddamn corner and bring back old ass villains from the dead and be like "he did some push-ups and now he's caught up to everyone"

and despite ALL of that, continue to introduce more and more and more multicolored transformations that are stronger than the last, but not stronger than beerus for some reason. jiren is stronger than a god of destruction? goku beats jiren with his ultimate transformation? what do you mean he's still weaker than beerus? freeza did 10 more push-ups and now hes WAY stronger than goku's ultimate form...the one that beat the dude that is supposed to be stronger than a god of destruction? man f**k you.

on the other hand you have dragon ball daima, which is not doing any of that shit, one because it's supposed to take place before super, giving it a hard limit (thank GOD) with the transformations and because it's generally slower paced and actually taking its time to flesh out its worldbuilding, unlike super. it puts a lot of weight and respect on even just the regular super saiyan form.

you still have the issue of "how do you challenge the strongest dude in the universe" which is tackled in episode one. make him a kid. introduce a new world where the atmosphere slows everything down. done. goku still is stronger than MOST of the challenges put in front of him, but he does have to work a little bit for the bigger threats, while setting up a reasonable way to challenge him for real down the road. it feels like they actually tried to come up with a solution rather than super's "everyones just as strong as gods for no reason."

they also approach the teased big bad in a smart way. who is the last villain that gave goku trouble? majin boo, who he couldn't beat with his raw power alone. so why not go that route again? you have arinsu trying to recreate some sort of boo like being ALONG with having a backup plan with the dragon balls. is bringing a new version of boo a little derivative? sure, they did that with android 21 who was an amalgamation of cell and boo, but at least in daima's context, it absolutely works because of the lore and groundwork they laid beforehand.

with all that said, seeing fans shit on daima because there isnt...ultra instinct super mega perfected times 10 form or vegeta's VERY royal blue and purple form or freeza black and yellow black and yellow black and yellow, is infuriating. like, why? that shit is so boring. and the fights in super were TERRIBLE. daima has had less than 10 episodes and i think it has already topped the best that super offered in terms of fight scene creativity and fun. Daima is also expanding dragon ball's lore in a way that feels organic to what was always already there vs the god of destructions/angels/multiverse shit that super threw in.

Some thoughts and details on my last Gamefly rental, Dragon Ball FighterZ(Switch version; no DLC).

There's an original story mode in this instead of retreading the main Sagas like usual, split into 3 Arcs(that seem to be alternate timelines?). Beating all 3 Arcs will unlock Hard Mode for the first one, and I believe the rest get it once you finish the previous one in Hard Mode.

For this story, an unnamed Earthling Soul links with the Z-Fighters, a few villains who've been revived and/or the Androids after strange waves incapacitate them all as a huge wave of clones of many Z-Fighters and villains go on the attack and is somehow able to allow them to fight again. They're weakened, however, so you'll be raising your Link Ratio(i.e. levels gained from experience) with them to make them stronger.

Battles are done in any combination of 1 to 3 available fighters in Story Mode, and I think always 3v3 outside of it. The ones you aren't playing as can be called in for Assist Attacks or switched out with your current fighter.

Something I think unique to DB FighterZ is that, when one fighter is KO'd, instead of them tagging in normally, they'll fly in and arm clash with the winner of the last round, then both will jump to the starting positions before the player(s) gets control back.

Constantly fighting the clones over and over, as well as how the maps work(they're laid out like a game board, with different panels to move to, one at a time), reminds me of Budokai 2's story mode, which looked similar, and where later on, you had to repeatedly fight Majin versions of Frieza and Cell. At least there's more variety here, though it can get repetitive.

Here are the unlock conditions for Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta:

For use in Story Mode, they must reach level 40. The easiest way I found was to redo the second to last battle in the third Arc over and over and equip them with Skills that increase EXP.

For use outside Story Mode: You need to earn 300,000 Zeni for SSB Vegeta and 500,000 Zeni for SSB Goku. Alternatively, you need to beat the 'Extreme Gravity Spaceship Course' on Hard in Arcade Mode, and get A Rank(Vegeta)/beat 'Hyperbolic Time Chamber Course' on Hard(Goku). There are Skills that increase the Zeni you earn to make the grind a bit easier, though I don't know a good farming method.

After starting the game, and selecting if you want to play online or offline, you'll be put into a Hub where you can walk or fast travel with ZL to different parts of it for each Mode.

In Arcade Mode, you can fight a set of 3, 5 or 7 matches, with Hard Mode for each being unlocked after clearing on Normal. I've heard Hard Mode really lives up to it's name, reaching 'SNK Boss' levels at times, too.

There's a Shop in the Hub where you can spend Zeni earned from fights on Z-Capsules, either 1 or 10 at a time, which can give you, alternate character colors, various customization options for your Lobby character that walks around the Hub or your online Player Card. If you get a repeat from a Z-Capsule, you'll instead get Premium Coins. Using them, either 10 or 100, will guarantee that you get items from Z-Capsules that you don't have yet.

In the Story Mode menu, there's a Gallery that lets you view story scenes that you've found, and this includes 'Special Events', which can happen when specific characters enter a battle. They're shown here in silhouette, with enemies marked in red, until you see them, and some are specific to each Story Arc. I like these, they usually have some interesting or amusing conversations between the characters.

The Boot Camp/FighterZ Dojo Mode is full of gameplay tutorials, which also pop up often in the first Story Mode Arc on Normal(doing them there also gives you some extra Zeni).

During non-Story game modes, you can collect the Dragon Balls and make a wish by making large combos, 70+ hits needed for the last one. More details here.

By winning fights under specific conditions outside of Story Mode, you can trigger a Dramatic Finish, where iconic moments from the series, plus some new ones, can play out. Here are the conditions to initiate each Dramatic Finish.

Yamcha feels like he got thrown a bone in this game: he feels fun to play(and is the type of fighter I'm good at), and can even get a reversal of his infamous death in a Dramatic Finish against Nappa.

Krillin and Android 18 have some really nice moments in this, and I want to see more of that.

Like with GBF Versus, the graphic style and animations are very well done. I watched a video from Boundary Break that showed how it looks away from what the player can see, and how some shots were made to work look really silly. XD

21 was currently on the edge of losing it. She loved 17 and 18 but the two fat and bratty super androids are yelling about how they want to go out tonight. Pressing their bellies to the sides of 21s head.

She just wants to gobble them up right then and there! But she has to keep her Majin side in check! So she has her emergency stress relievers…aka a mini fridge with a bunch of snacks.

21 could feel her human figute nearly breaking to turn into her fierce majin form. Her muscles were growing some. She opened her fridge to reveal the massive amount she snacks who are actually many victims who lost to her candy beam. She grabbed them one by one, stuffing them in mouth. "Just gotta eat sweets to clear my head. Can't be eating two...delicious plump cuties. No no, I shouldn't be talking like that." As she ate, she kept on rambling to herself. Her resisting the majin side often makes her insane.

Might as well share my thoughts on how I would have written 21:

Dr. Vomi and Dr. Gero were both a power couple of scientists in the Red Ribbon Army. They had a son together named Gevo(i am going to ignore the fact Super Super Heroes says they had another child, and a grandchild) who also joined the RRA to become a soldier.

Gevo died in the battlefield, at some point the RRA was crumbling in power, Vomi and Gero's whole worlds were crashing down

In the midst of developing androids to defeat Son Goku, Vomi just couldn't let go that had Gevo been stronger, he would still be with them. She initiated her own android model program, by creating bioandroids(cyborgs)

She gathered participants and had them undergo tests to see which organisms would be most likely to live through the procedure of becoming an android

She very much presented herself as a motherly "savior" giving her "babies" a second chance in life. Manipulating them and immediately punishing them horribly when they get out of line(i do not care for the "good side" of 21. 16 was interesting about it. 21 not so much and she is so boring, so let's do something about that.)

Only 3 of the dozens of participants managed to survive. Unfortunately(for her at least) one of them did break out of containment and ended up destroying her(hehe)

Gero, already mad with grief continued her project in her honor. He just mindcontrolled the 3 androids and placed self-destruction devices implanted in them. The androids were referred as 10, 11, and 12

As Vomi at the time was working on her project, Gero was developing other mechanical androids since that was his specialty. These are supposed to be 13, 14, and 15 btw.

I need to work on when exactly Gero was working on Cell. We do know that due to time restraints, he programmed a computer to finish the process. So I think I'll have it where the program are all of Vomi's notes

Anyways with 10, 11, and 12 they weren't producing the results Gero really wanted. At this time King Piccolo came out and declared to be the new ruler of the world. Seeing as how the androids his wife worked on(as though they aren't human beings) wouldn't be strong enough to face King Piccolo, he deemed them failures. He destroyed the lab and relocated, leaving behind the work he couldn't take with(not knowing not everything was destroyed)

Where does that leave Vomi now? Well she dead so-

At some point Gero created Android 16 to look like their son. He didn't install any of his memories as he attempted with Android 15. Which btw we gave Android 15 a human design, and his name is Julius Black, brother of Officer Black.

Gero deemed 16 a failure due to his nonviolent personality. But kept him around because I'm sure destroying a look alike of his son would keep him in sorrow

He did work on his wife and installed as many memories based on her notes and entries and his own memories into a machine. He allowed Android 19 to finish her and finish installing his own brain into a robotic body

What she does in the android and cell Saga I'm still working on. She does have an encounter with 16 and tries to coherence him into joining them again. But 16 let's her know he is his own being and not her son. As white women do, she gets angered and demands proper respect as his mother

Same mentality with Emerald(Android 10, and Beryl)

I do know sometime during my Majin Buu/Janemba rewrite she does encounter Android 20 again. He still had a soul since his brain was transferred into a metal machine. You'd think it would be a lovely reunion when oh no, here is the actual Vomi right beside him and the actual Gevo

This puts her off the deep end a bit. She ended up making a deal with Babbadi in creating a new Majin Buu through science, which Daima lowkey stole 🔪

She does have her monster form it just looks more monstrous. I'll have to redesign it cuz her current one is just pink slime girl which, eh
