Se Busca’ Campaign Nets Another Criminal Arrest

The U.S. Border Patrol's El Paso Sector has confirmed a significant victory in their ongoing campaign against transnational crime, announcing the arrest of another “Se Busca Información” target over the weekend, a result of crucial tips from the public.

Successful Capture in Collaboration

Key Arrest of “El Pitufo” On December 31, the Fiscalía General del Estado de Chihuahua (FGE) – Chihuahua’s State Attorney General’s Office confirmed the capture of “EP1,” a 39-year-old Mexican national known by the alias “El Pitufo.” This arrest, made in Torreon, Coahuila, was a collaborative effort between the Coahuila FGE and various Mexican law enforcement entities, triggered by information provided through the “Se Busca Información” tip-line. “El Pitufo” has an extensive criminal history, including aggravated homicide, making this arrest a significant achievement in the ongoing battle against crime.  

Impact of the “Se Busca Información” Campaign

Strengthening Border Security This latest apprehension marks the third arrest from the current “Se Busca Información” target list. Since the campaign's inception in late October, a total of five criminals have been arrested due to information provided by the public. The “Se Busca Información” initiative, translating to "look for information" in English, identifies individuals linked to transnational criminal organizations, sought for various crimes by both U.S. and Mexican law enforcement, including human smuggling, narcotics, weapons trafficking, and murder.   Bi-National Efforts and Community Involvement This bi-national initiative between the United States and Mexico is a testament to the power of community involvement and international cooperation. By encouraging public reporting of information about wanted criminals, the initiative aims to disrupt and displace members of criminal organizations that pose threats to communities on both sides of the border.  

The Role of Community Tips and Technology

Confidential Reporting and Advanced Technology The initiative empowers individuals to confidentially report information about the targets to law enforcement at 915-314-8194. Additionally, the public may also provide information via the ‘WhatsApp’ application, with phone lines open 24 hours a day. These reports are directly managed by the El Paso Sector Border Patrol call centers, ensuring anonymity and safety for informants.

Acknowledging Bi-National Cooperation U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Anthony “Scott” Good expressed gratitude for the partnership with the Government of Mexico and officials from the state of Chihuahua. Halifax police investigate theft of $30K microscope from Dal

Halifax police are asking for the public’s assistance in relation to the theft of a microscope that was stolen from Dalhousie University.

On March 1, police received a report of a theft that had occurred in a lab in the Life Sciences Building at Dalhousie University.

“On February 29, between 7:45 p.m. and 10 p.m., a Zeiss AxioLab A1 FL-LED microscope valued at over $30,000 was stolen along with a laptop computer,” Halifax police said in a news release.

Anyone with information in relation to the theft is asked to call police at 902-490-5016. Anonymoustips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a secure web tip at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca or by using the P3 Tips App.

Murder investigation launched in Hayes

Murder investigation launched in Hayes   A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally stabbed in Hayes.   Police were called yesterday (11 July) at 4:33am to reports of a man acting erratically with a knife at a residential property in Melina Close, Hayes.   Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service.   A man, aged in his 50s, was found inside the property with a stab wound to his neck.   Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he sadly died at the scene.   A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.   The arrested man was taken to hospital, where he will be assessed before being taken into custody.   The suspect and the victim were known to one another.   Lead investigator, Detective Inspector Adam Guttridge from the Specialist Crime Command, said: “We are at the very early stages of our investigation and enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances.   “A man is in custody and no other persons are sought by my team at this time.   “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family.”   Anyone with information who has not yet spoken with police should call 101 quoting 967/11JUL.   Information can be given anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit crimestoppers-uk.org.   #hayes #melinaclose #murderinvestigation #knifecrime #stabbing #policeinvestigation Read the full article

2017 death of Halifax man ruled a homicide

Halifax police say the 2017 death of a victim of an aggravated assault has been ruled a homicide.

Police say 51-year-old Benjamin Loka Lokeny of Halifax, who was not identified at the time of the assault in July 2017, died on Aug. 28, 2017.

Halifax police responded to a call of an injured person at the corner of Buddy Daye and Gottingen Streets.

“Officers found a man with a head injury at the scene,” Halifax police said in a news release. “He was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remained until he passed away.”

Police say the medical examiner did an autopsy on Lokeny and, after some in-depth testing, ruled the death a homicide.

“Through the investigation, officers obtained information that Benjamin had been assaulted by another man believed to be known to him,” the police said. “Investigators believe there are people who have information that could help solve Benjamin’s murder and they are asking them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know.”
