methods of transliteration to different alphabets
#transliteration is great for when you cant read the other alphabet. but then the letters have to make different sounds than normal#sometimes it is simply not intuitive!! 'ch' to mean a guttural is one thing but. ok ill be honest this is about pinyin haha#ive gotten better at reading it correctly but man. latin alphabet just does not have those sounds#probably doesnt help that i dont listen to a lot of spoken chinese and i dont know the tones but. anyway#another thing is when theres multiple standards... remember when the orv translater changed halfway thru and everyones names changed#both ways were technically correct but like. the dissonance. you gotta be consistent with these things
