Oh it’s Zevran who finishes the tattoo
#Ellana lavellan#okay so she has this giant back piece#that’s a continuation of her vallaslin#when solas removes hers she asks that the back and chest pieces remain#because those have always been more about her loved ones#the gods are merely representing whatever it is she associates with those people#when she hits inqusition she has all the gods on her back but fen’harel#though she always intended to include Something that tied to him#anyway fast forward a few years and Ellana ends up in a relationship with Zevran#I think he’s the one who suggests he finishes it with the dread wolf’s eyes#its closure#she began the piece to honor her fiancé’s life and death#now she can finish it to honor the loss of solas#zev knows she still cares about him but doesn’t (yet) realize how deep that tie is#he thinks this will be good for her#(and he’s right. this relationship is just doomed by the narrative)#god the intimacy of it#one of the hahrens observing and ensuring dalish tradition is kept#Zev gets that connection to his heritage he missed growing up#wait he suggests she get the tattoo and she suggests he be the one in order to give him that connection#oh that could be good#it’s a gift between them both#even if it’s a little messy#trying to move on from the man you love even as you ink him into your skin#a memorial to someone as lost to you as the dead#…maybe this is when she plants the memorial tree for solas#so someone will mourn him as a man who was loved#and that’s when solas stops (see: gets sneakier about) visiting Ellana in the fade#she’s made two big gestures to move on#it’s time
