hey. hey. if you’re a graduate student, I am begging you to take better notes than I did. please take better notes. you will not remember what an article says 10 years later when you need to cite it in your diss introduction. take better notes. please.
#I am currently man screaming in sand.jpg#really tempted to be like 'just trust me. I know this is true. but I can't remember where all I read it. just trust me.'#what is my academic life#Queenie actually says something on this blog#anyway on a serious note: Scrivener is great for collating notes#unfortunately I started using it in 2017 and some of the books I am citing I read in 2010 :T#'why don't you use an actual citation manager' okay first of all it hates all my works in Japanese and I have to manually correct them#second of all Scrivener recaptures the feeling of one thousand word documents of quotes without the reality of one thousand word docs#less serious note: if you are a good indexer I owe you my life#if you are the specific indexer who indexed my advisor's book: what the frick were you doing#why did you index scholar names but not any of the actual keywords#you had one (1) job and that was making sure that I didn't have to flip through almost 700 pages to find one piece of info#and you FAILED#anyway sorry for the unhinged diss posting but oh my frickin' god. AUGH
