joe'marr bengals reunion — a (somewhat) comprehensive timeline

1 — “have you spoken to the cincinnati bengals and what would it mean to reunite with joe burrow there?” — “i have talked to the bengals. i don’t know how many times i’ve talked to them though. but, me and joe, you know, i wouldn’t mind going back with joe. if we go back together we’re trying to do nothing but get back our chemistry and have some more fun.”

i've mentioned here and there that i made a relationships/dynamic spreadsheet. i have finally put it to use. look on my Works, ye mighty, and despair.

listening to tim sweeney and simon peyton jones talk about their programming language "verse" at Zurihac and man. this is insane. i so hope it works.

spj is *so* back on his bullshit of "actually, excel is the best programming language" (in that it's sort of the realization of 1. "Basic values are nothing, some value, or many values" and 2. When he was working at Microsoft on Excel (or adj to it) and developing Haskell, he saw the similarities between the two languages as both being dataflow languages that needed to be performant; he even pushed Excel to include lambda as a function (which they eventually did)) and it's incredible. i have never seen so many seasoned programmers ask about the semantics of if statements.

tbc. it is kind of crazy. i keep pausing every minute or w/e to figure out exactly what the supposed semantics mean; they're simple when I think about them in the right Haskell abstraction (you have a base super type, which is smth like Maybe | List | Identity | Except e, maybe a finite list, and you do flow inference, or mb the 'annotations' come into play. I told you it's weird)
